Christianity EtcRe: In The God Of David Oyedepo ? Huh? by Esss(m): 10:24am On Jul 10, 2008

@ Ess

We need a lot of logic and secular rationality in our nation.
My arguement is that we need to get serious period and not look to God for things we should be doing for ourselves.
You have said it just as it should be said. America did not become america today because they put the slogan "In God we trust on their bills". If prayer changes a Nation, Nigeria would be the world super power today.
We have been so beclouded in this fantasy world that God is seriously at work in this country and it will be well (meanwhile every election, we see corruption of the highest order, the police are still the same, the roads remain the same, even the christian services and progarms are still being run on massive power generators).

I still feel christianity has done more damage than good in africa. This religion was first brought to us by the same people who started slave trade in Africa (isnt it ironic??). The richest people on earth are not christians, the most succesful people on earth are not christians, the most successful nations on earth are not even christian nations. If we Nigerians are to make any head way, we need to come out of the church and go into the street.

If you need a job, you dont need to be in church, you need to be out searching for that job.
If you need money, you need to be out in the streets hustling for money.
If you need a child, you need to go to a specialist or save up and use other sure medical methods to get a child.
If you are sick, go to a hospital.

However did pastors get so rich that they can afford to buy private jets and drive around in convoys of over 6 luxury cars while their congregation suffers in silence and prayers and constantly bribing God through their tithes and offerings.

@madam KOKO

Continue deceiving yourself, when you are tired you will go and sleep.

That the church in nigeria is strong and influential is not the work of man but of God.

Somebody called the church the unsung hero. Because they are the salt of the earth, they are the ones who will avert 'natural'

disasters and wars on their knees in the name of Jesus yet uninformed people like you will think it is a result of good deliberation and planning.

If you are not aware, this nation will not be together today and somewhat safe but for the prayers, giving, tithing and confessions of the saints.

You compare Nigeria with America? You want God to visit our nation with war, tornadoes and earthquakes like he does the rest of the world before you

remember he exists and should be revered hun?

Take Christ Embassy for instance, they set they pace in whatever the set their hands to do and the people and the people follow. Is it the media, print,

TV, satelite, internet, they employ the latest kind of technology and the world cannot help but follow and this has even made them the envy of older TV

stations.

They buy up failing TV stations and bring life back into them and they become number one in the country. That is the excellent spirit at work my dear.

If it is print media they are number one and the rest of the people learn and follow, they employ the kind of excellence that will make you marvel.

They own institutions (inner-city) where children are taken off the streets and sent to. They are fed, clothed, accommodated and given sound education

free of charge. Prostitutes, drug addicts are given new lives. They are fed, clothed and accommodated, and made to live normal lives.

That is why they call for meetings and millions gather, the kind of crowds that even the president or any performing artist cannot dream of gathering.

How wouldnt the people follow someone who is concerned about their well being.

The best schools in the country today are owned by the churches (Winners chapel, RCCG, Church of God mission, Roman catholic church and so on).

The sick, Dwarfs, widows and the rejected of government and society now have hope because of men like TB Josuah.

Righteousness is preached and the fear of God is instilled in the people and rather than give thanks to God, you come and spew out this rubbish.

If you have been trampled upon by Christianity that is your problem, you most likely were in their way.
@ Donnie

Continue deceiving yourself, when you are tired you will go and sleep.

That the church in nigeria is strong and influential is not the work of God but of Man.

Why call the church the unsung hero? Because they are the vinegar of the earth, they are the ones cannot avert 'natural' disasters (Hurricanes, Tsunami's, Ikeja bombings, Repeated series of airplane crashes) and wars (Bosnia, Sudan, Rwanda, Nigerian Civil war even the  Niger Delta crisis) on their knees in the name of Jesus yet uninformed people like you will think it is a result of good Fasting, prayers and intercession.

If you are not aware, this nation will not be together today and somewhat safe but for the gorvernment, Police, Military and the will of the people.

You compare Nigeria with America? You want God to visit our nation with wealth, good and stable economy, uninterupted power supply, water, good working social infrastructure and safety like he does the rest of the world before you remember he exists and should be revered hun? (Erm!! Hells yeah)

Take Christ Embassy for instance, they set they pace in the business they set their hands to do and the people follow. Is it the merchandizing setup?? media, print,

TV, satelite, internet, they employ the latest kind of technology and the world cannot help but follow and this has even made them the envy of older TV

stations.

They buy up failing TV stations and bring life back into them and they become number one in the country.
That is the excellent business man/mogul at work my dear.

If it is print media they are number one and the rest of the people learn and follow, they employ the kind of excellence that will make you marvel and sell them at exhorbitant prices.

They own institutions (inner-city) where children are taken off the streets and sent to. They are fed, clothed, accommodated and given sound education

free of charge. Prostitutes, drug addicts are given new lives. They are fed, clothed and accommodated, and made to live normal lives. Since they made their monney off hard-working Nigerians it is only fair they give back to the society by good public relations schemes.

That is why they call for meetings and millions gather, the kind of crowds that even the president or any performing artist cannot dream of gathering because they are not preying on the insucurities of their costomers,

How wouldnt the people follow someone who knows how persuade people under false guarantee of solving their problems.

The best schools in the country today are owned by the churches (Winners chapel, RCCG, Church of God mission, Roman catholic church and so on) and charge the highest tution in the country for a University education.

The sick, Dwarfs, widows and the rejected of government and society now have hope because of men like TB Josuah who waves his hand around and makes people fall under the influence of hypnotism thereby wooing the gaullible nigerians into beliving they have the solutions to their problems.

Righteousness is preached and the fear of God is instilled in the people and rather than improve the society, we are still the 2nd most corrupt nation on earth, with amazing poverty, sicknesses, social injustice e.t.c even in the midst of plenty churches with the largest auditoriums in the world and the largest congregations.

If you havent been trampled upon by Christianity then you are lucky, you most likely havent stood in their congregation.

RomanceRe: Will You Work For Her by Esss(m): 12:36am On Jul 10, 2008
Lets get real sha, how on earth is it supposed to work??

A man with no pride is said to be a man with no balls (meaning he is impotent).

Their is a saying that power corrupts. And this is very ture. If you think it is all good for your wife to boss you around at work and at home she submits, well I bet you that it wont last for long. First things first;

1. If your wife is the boss of you, that means she earns more money than you do, which automatically makes her the major breadwinner of the family, which automatically increases the value of her shares in the family, thereby making the man the figure head (and not head) of the family.

2. One day, she is bound to forget she is not at work and exercise some of her powers on the husband at home or worse still in public. Hells no!!

3. Imagine when staffs have to be layed off, and your wife has to sack you, that would definitely affect the relationship even at home.

Honestly in my opinion, this shit is not practical. And I would not ever let my wife be the boss of me (except in the bedroom.)  wink  grin
Christianity EtcRe: In The God Of David Oyedepo ? Huh? by Esss(m): 12:23am On Jul 10, 2008
So you justify praying to the God of Oyedepo just because Nebuchadnezzar prayed to the God of Shedrac & co. Abi??

Did it ever occur to you that as at the time when he offered that prayer, it was because whatever it was Shedrac and his crew were worshiping seemed to be the most potent God as of the time. If someone else had performed something that outshined theirs I'm 100% certain that Nebuchadnezzar would have prayed to that God also.

So lets just get this straight, T.B Joshua as far as I am concerned seems to be serving the kind of God that might protect him from a fiery furnace so I ask do we pray to the God of T.B Joshua?? Chriss Angel seems to have a very unique god which is capable of walking through glass without a cut or even a scratch, do we then Pray to the god of Chriss Angel??

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Not through the God of Oyedepo.

You christians will always find an excuse to cover the actions of your pastors.
Even if you find him in bed with your wives I'm sure you'll tell me the story of David and Uriah. Suckers.
Christianity EtcRe: What Color Was Jesus? by Esss(m): 8:52pm On Jul 09, 2008
What color was Jesus??

Hmm!! I have given this much thought myself and have come to the conclusion that he has got to be white.
Common think about it, If Jesus were black or chinese, his gospel would not have been this popular.
And check out the catholic church and leonardo Da Vincis images of Jesus, he is white.
Check out all the Jesus flicks, he is always played by a white man.
White Jesus has been so propagated that the thought of a black Jesus is considered blasphemy.

Just my opinion.

Why would someone be proud of being something about which they had no choice? No-one had a choice about their skin-colour, nationality, tribe, gender or sexual orientation. None of these are attributes are earned by the endeavours of the individual. So why should one be proud of these attributes that are not the result of one's own endeavours?
Cos thats what the lottery called life has dealt you. If you are not proud of yourself, you have nothing for which to live for, you are left with the worst kind of inferiority complex and you have no self worth whatsoever. You are a basically slave.

Christianity EtcRe: I Don't Feel Like Going To Church: What's Wrong? by Esss(m): 4:49pm On Jul 08, 2008
@ Poster

There is absolutely nothing wrong with you.
I dont go to church anymore myself (apart from when I am bored and need to get a good laugh)
This going to church every sunday is just a ritual which after a period get extremely boring especially if you have been attending church all your life. The services are basically the same, the songs are the same, the offering and tithe collection is a must, and what have you??

In my case, I first of all found out that churches basically recycle the same preachng over and over under different topics. The new fad is for the pastors to go learn the greek meaning of every word and then try to get other meanings out of it. I then realised the hypocrisy of church after I noticed that these pastor are like the smart version of Robin Hood (using the concept of robbing both the rich and the poor to enrich themselves). After much thinking, I found out that churches basically prey on the fears and insecurity of their congregation to exploit them of all their money and other possesions. Oh! and not forgetting their new found powers of persuation and hypnotism, first of all they calmly psyc their congregation with some cool well prepared sermon, then they whip the crowd into a frenzy with Praise songs and then they move into the hypnotism part which is the worship where people start getting light headed and falling down all in the name of anointing, followed by the prophecy part where they start telling you bout your future, then the merchandising follows with books, handkerchiefs, olive oils, holy water, e.t.c.
Despite all this, I noticed that nothing really changes. The poor in church are still as poor as they were while the rich and ofcourse the pastor basically get richer cos they have jobs from which they make money. I could go on and outline the whole plot of the drama you call church. If I open a church today, I'll be a very popular pastor in under a year.

So my dear there is absolutely nothing wrong with your not going to church.
If you ask me I'll say watch TBN on sunday, go for a drive and give alms to the poor, go home, eat, sleep and prepare for another week of hard labour.

Dude!! I'm sure they expect them to go to the local grocery store or deli and buy some T-bone steaks and Croned beef or prolly order some pizza from Pizza hut. What rubbish.

The day you people stop living in fear of the after life and start trying to survive this life that you already have, maybe then things would change for the better.

Why is this important in anyway? Would you re-organise your life based on the bible's (or K-ran's) stipulation on matters of diet?

do you know what kind of guns were being used? undecided Anyways, when the 'smoke cleared' could've simply been a metaphor, not necessarily an exact account of events.

I hear your cynicism loud and clear man, truth is. . . if you don't feel like you are getting anything from that church, maybe its not the place for you wink

Anyways back to topic

It was all nations day at my church, celebrating the nations of the world and praising God in different languages and styles. It was mad fun and enjoyablefrom the Congolese to Ghanaian, Angolan and of course naija stylee cheesy

Sometimes you don't really need a 'message', just praising God with other believers is often times enough.
O I've been to all of them. Deeper life, RCCG, you name it I've been there. If its not one scandal, it how mt wearing a jean and Tee shirt to church will send me straight to hell. I mean why do people even go to church?? Your pastors sermons all come from other peoples books and TBN, all your problems could be solved by hardwork and medicine, so why do you go to church?

I was in church last sunday cos I was bored and needed to entertain myself. And my lord was I entertained.
