Health / Re: I Just Discovered I Have Hiv by Etosha: 12:54pm On Dec 12, 2022
adonainana:

A positive guy with can a low Hiv viral load can get married because he has what is called a U status.

U stands for undectectable status.

Whenever you go for a Hiv test, normally the test would reveal things such as the percentage of the Hiv virus in ur blood stream, Your cd4 cell count ( Your cd4 cells are cells in ur immune system )

Remember the operational morandi of the HIV virus in the first place which is that it sneaks into ur immune system silently and stays quiet there before it begins to reproduce inside ur immune system and in the process kill of the cells there eventually.( This is why the cure for HIV has been extremely hard to discover, the latency and the way the virus reproduces )

See how easy it was to produce the Covid 19 vaccine within months, but its been 40 years now and HIV vaccine is still probably 50 years away.

Anyway back to the topic, once you have tested positive, ARV drugs stops the HIV virus from replicating inside ur system. It doesnt kill it off and the HIV virus is still there and would always be there.

But because a positive person has taken his ARV efficiently and judiciously, you develop a low viral count, a viral count so low, if you randomly go to a health clinic and do a random HIV test, they would tell you you dont have it, even though deep down you have it.

At this stage, you can have all the unprotected intercourse you want, as although you have the virus, its not in sufficient amount in your blood stream to pass it on.

At this stage you can be with your wife and do whatever you want as your wife and kids would never have it.

But caution oooo, just because you have a low viral count doesnt mean you stop your ARV drugs or treatment.

The virus can become drug resistant to your existing treatment because you stopped for a while and it just found a way of replicating inside your system once again and starts to do what it came to do.

Regular testing and ARV drugs the most efficient way of getting by with the virus

I am just been inquisitive. If the ARV vaccine does not kill the virus, what makes the virus to reduce with time. Is it that they die off by themselves?

Sometimes I ask myself if it's a taboo for Nigerian girls to work, make money and spend on themselves rather than making unrealistic demands from men.

Hehehehe... Even when you try to give them viable business advise, the only thing on their minds is marriage. I was telling one the other day how she can make money through hairdressing (since she already has the skill), the next question she asked me was when I will get married. When you are talking about money they're talking about marriage. One was sitting idle in her mom's shop, I told her to learn how to make buns or meatpie and sell them at the shop, she took my advice and today she sometimes come to make deposits at my neighbor's POS shop.

A man must marry a lady who is into him..Not a lady who tolerates him, because he is capable of putting food on her table.

Funny enough, the lady started calling after some months.

My friend asked a lady to marry him, she said she was not 'convinced'... I told him to try again that the lady is just doing shakara, he refused. He's about to wed another lady. He said he can't beg a woman to marry him.

There was a trend some time ago about how to make it. So, I decided to try it. I used date as sweetner. Unfortunately, I added too dates. I felt tensed throughout the night. I am now half inclined to believe that date is an aphrodisiac.

What an experience.
My own experience as a maize farmer and a cassava farmer will be enough to write two textbooks.
The point is, never put your head especially where people with no practical experience are shouting how lucrative a venture is.

Hehehehe... when I started I asked if I would be a able to sell. They told me "ahhh buyers are always ready". No business is easy if you have no experience oo.

I can relate with your story…

The middlemen (women) are the ones who enjoy from this business. They understand that most farmers have a specific timeframe to meet and so take advantage of them.
Personally, I prefer layers to broilers. Even though layers require more capital and have a longer time frame before returns on investment. But eggs are easier to market. And the spent layers you can target festive seasons to make sales. By then you would have made profit from sales of eggs. Also the prices of old layers are more stable and kinda fixed.
If you wanna do broilers and enjoy better you have a ready market on ground. Or better still you just slaughter at maturity , cut to size and sell as frozen chicken. You still need a market for this. But atleast you won’t be overly desperate to sell they by middle persons taking advantage of you.

U are right. The market in Yenagoa is quite discouraging. For instance, in relief market in Owerri here, people sell their birds every day without middlemen especially on Sunday morning.

That is the major problem small holder farmers usually face. Be it, poultry farming, crop farming whatever. It is the middle men that will reap what you did not reap. Unfortunately, most of the products are time barred. If you don't sell on time, wahala.

I saw shege in Yenagoa. My farm was in Tombia, after reaching maturity, I went to swali market in Yenagoa with some birds ( because nobody would buy in Tombia village) to meet the middle men ( women) who buy and sell to consumers. One woman agreed to send his son to my place to clear them. Dude came and offered to buy 1300( as at 2019). They were 2months 2 weeks old. I had no option since my feed has finished and no money for more. He bought some... in my desperation to sell, I went to swali again and met hausa buyers- they promised to come and clear them. Appointed day came, they didn't show up. I took the birds to them , they started giving me annoying bargain. I sold them with no gain. They few ones I left, before my return from the market, they were stolen. The following morning I dropped my feeders and waterers and fled ekpetiama kingdom.

Hehehehe... back then when I was a teenager, a girl i never approached told my girlfriend that I am her boyfriend and that she should stay clear. Believing it's another opportunity to have another girl without stress ( since the first one came on her own) I waylaid this girl one night, she stopped, greeted me and asked if there's any problem. I froze and couldn't say anything... any time I remember it I feel like crying.

N3TRAL:
There's a guerilla warfare going on in the South East. This war tactics is difficult for State actors because the insurgents know where and when to strike government forces but the government forces do not know who the non-state actors are. However, operations carried out by government forces from time to time destroy entire communities and snatch the lives of both active and passive secessionists.

Losing members of the Nigeria police force and the Nigerian Army on a daily basis is tragic but not as painful as losing young civilian men who otherwise had a brighter future ahead if the civil unrest never started.

The biggest losers are not those who understood and signed the career path of 50% survival and 50% death. The biggest losers are the parents, wives and children of the natives with a gloomy future trailing the demise of their breadwinners in a needless secession conflict.

Omo! Intelligent men are here.
