Religion / Re: Why Do Westerners Hate Polygamy But Embrace Homosexuality? by Eviana(f): 5:22pm On Feb 12, 2023
elnegrodeafriqu:
because the West is a major tool in the hand of the devil in his aim of subverting the human race. They've almost destroyed all family values. They attacked child disciplining (calling it child abuse). Which means generations of uncouth, untrained kids are available for any diabolic plans they'll bring. They destroyed marriage as a basis of building a family. Imagine in the West it is a crime for a 21 year old man to have sex with a 17 year old girl, but perfectly OK for that same man to have sex with his fellow man.

I have to agree with you about the destruction of the traditional family in the U.S.
There is spiritual warfare occurring on the institution of marriage as defined by the Bible.
It all starts with the family.
Destroy that and you basically have a destroyed nation.

I mean it sounds and feels odd for them to embrace sodomy to the extent of joining them in the church of God. All the Abrahamic religions accept polygamy but homosexuality is a no no. This people are so weird to me right now!

Point of correction: The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel (Christianity) never sanctioned polygamy.
He created marriage between one man and one woman.
Genesis 2:18-24 (KJV)
Those who claim Christianity and engage in polygamy are not following the biblical model.

It is "man" (godly or not) who decided to fulfill the lust of his flesh and do whatever pleases him....and God doesn't interfere with allowing His creation to have "free-will". If s person wants to do it, then.he/she is free to do it, but understand there are practical and spiritual consequences.
Just because God allows people to make choices, doesn't mean that the choices are, were or will ever be His perfect will.
He gave followers the blueprint for marriage.

Wow. Welcome to Africa E.viana. There is this popular event that happened years ago. When some people who want to get rich, were turned into vultures by a native doctor. The native dr died shortly after that. Those guys remained vultures. Another native dr tried to help them and ended up turning some into half vulture and half human. The legs were human legs. Although I didnt witnessed it, but many people witnessed it. Can anyone help with other stories as this?

Satan has such powers. Witches also operate through nocturnal animals like cat and owl.

Yes....I know a lot of developing countries and islands have been and are continually dealing with satanic powers--spiritual warfare for sure.
But, I'm just very skeptical about humans turning into animals. See that would be on a whole other level of spiritual wickedness in high places.
I cannot reconcile anyone--including satan-- other *than the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel having power to separately create life--the human body and also the creation *of the animal body. The two cannot mix physically--and survive. I don't even see how that could work scientifically...

Whatever "power" satan holds can only be allowed by the Lord....he still is not Omnipotent. But I get what you're saying about him having a high level of power.
I think what happens is that people get so desperate and want a solution so quickly that they exercise faith to the point where something appears to be real but is only an illusion. Satan and his minions,I do believe, have the power to create optical illusions to a faith-filled person(s)....because people want to believe in it. That's my theory...

The human/animal thing is one of those things where I'd have to actually be at the event in Nigeria (no *videos or stories) and see with my own eyes to believe.....which I really wouldn't want to see honestly cause I'm not into dark, demonic spiritual atmospheres.
However, that would be the only way that I could be convinced.
The witches operating through animals, also have me very skeptical.
Sorry, but that's how I truly feel.

This morning, when I was praying to God my Father--, I was crying out to Him. I know He--my Heavenly Father--heard my cry cause He directed me towards some powerful scriptural passages...
He loves us with all of His heart.
All He is trying to do is woo us to Him...
Followers/believers need to deeply realize this and surrender to Him.
HE--the Father--the Creator-- never changes...HIS Word.

Culture--no matter where it is-- should never supercede His Word

Nigerian Christians (who believe in this--and (I forever say this with love), this perhaps one of the few reasons why I'm still chained to this site.

Superstition/culture merged with the gospel of Jesus Christ....there's the problem.
Folks, I will keep saying this till I can say this no more: pray for the Holy Spirit to lead you into the truth of His Word and separate you from the culture's beliefs.
Separation of church and "culture" when it comes to God's Word.

Ephesians 6:10-18 (KJV) is very plain and real.
But this folks -- the idea of humans turning into creatures, is not biblical--nor will it ever be nor will I (a follower of Christ for over 20 yrs.) ever believe that.

There is danger--extreme danger--in.believing fantastical, superstitious things that can affect one's walk with Christ. Strong delusions can occur as the Bible states.

Nigeria, along with so many develping nations and islands--has such a forever floating dark cloud over it because many of you believe more in satan than the Lord Jesus. Yes--demon possessed folks are like the number of the sand--innumerable.
Good and evil must exist in this world.
Believers and non-believers.....

It's what many of you guys are practicing/worshipping/lifestyle that's the problem....
Let me stop here.

Thanks. I will be happy to clear every doubt you may have. If a mod pick interest in a member, why can't he/she try to befriend that member? Are there any rules against that? No. I'm trying to be your friend and know your course of study. I have dreams of being a manufacturer of imported items (including aircraft).

As for the email stuff. I believe you can visit other members profiles and send them PM. Through that you can tell them alternative ways to contact you
. If you send a PM to me I'll receive it.

One thing with this site is that if you loss your email access, you cannot change it (many members complained about this too). Pls don't compare NL with other websites. It has old look and functionalities. Maybe that is the way Seun want it. If still have doubt, feel free to express it.

Good morning,
I hope you're ready for this reply wink
Nothing wrong at all with developing a friendship.
I just thought that mods were supposed to "stay in the background" and just moderate. Not get distracted and never show any bias towards, favoritism or partiality to anyone or any topics. I was thinking if you are a mod, then no one should know (if you want to interact with the members) OR if folks know, then the mods cannot interact with the members--keeping it all impartial. Just my opinion... smiley

In regards to the pm's/ emails, this is where I'm confused.
Also it lets you know that I haven't really been a regular "pm" sender. I can't remember ever sending more than 2 pm's ever to anyone.
Ninety-eight percent of the time, I used to receive--not send-- "pm's".
The way I remember it (just a few years back) was when sending or receiving a "pm", one gets the notification on this site, however communication occurs through the email exchanges.

Just a few years ago--maybe 2018--the option to change the email worked. Since probably 2019/2020 till now, the function is still there, but on my profiles doesn't work.
I applaud the owner for his creation of this site.
I found it through an internet search on Nigeria.
I have never compared his site to any other site ever..nor will I ever.
I have expressed my frustrations about some serious atmospheric mentality issues here --mainly by members (religious bigotry, tribalism, and misogyny being the main three), but have never compared it to others. Nothing wrong structurally and functionally with keeping what works. Only he knows the reasons why he has or hasn't upgraded or what he may be working on. That's also fine if he wants to keep the site "old school". As the American saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
But on my profiles, something is "broke": my change email option-- and ultimately my ability to deactivate.
My highest concern is a highly safe website--where I, as a foreigner, can safely browse, interact with members without the pressure to feel obligated to "help" people I don't even know, comment without revenge or retaliation, have a nice time. and the freedom to deactivate if I so choose.
I do, however, feel like I'm chained with no key in sight ever.
Due to safety concerns, I'm not ready to send a "pm" to other members in order to get to other members just yet....my apologies. I need to feel secure and comfortable. Not there yet.

I'll leave this concern alone....probably exhausted it enough.
Thanks for being extremely civil during this thread.
I'll let it rest...see you over in the Religion section perhaps?
Have a good rest of your day... smiley

Yes. I have been slandered by a trouble maker. He was having issues with some users in agric section. I tried to bring peace among them and like a rabid dog, he turned on me and heap all sort of accusations against me. It was really futile trying to defend myself because he can twist and use your own words against you. I just have to ban him.

Why did I restored your posts? This is not the first time I'm doing such a thing. Whenever I come across such I do the right thing. The mod or spambot responsible might have made a mistake. When I saw your comment on that my thread about "Chris tucker", I have to check out your profile and read some of your posts. That was when I saw those posts and restored them. I just like it when I see females (males too) that maintain godliness. At least I saw that in your posts. Keep it up.
I hope your detective mode is now satisfied? cheesy

As for sending PM, that one is beyond my power. Seun (the site owner) should be responsible. Did you lost your email login info? But I think you can still send PM to other users (are my right?). If so send to me if you wish. Don't let those slanderers make you run from good Nigerians. Like I told you, I will delete all their posts. Thanks.

Yes, a continual work in progress---but I do try to maintain some sort of godliness...
Concerning thr detective work...not quite satisfied..... I do, however, appreciate your help.

I wasn't aware that "mods" could fraternize with or "have the back of" lowly members such as moi?
When can "mods" openly show such favoritism?
Kinda odd to me....
In regards to the email, I'm not sure how I could send or receive a "pm" to others if I can't access the email attached to my account in order to reply anyone or see anyone's reply to me?
I've stated that 1 million times, but to no avail.
Something's definitely wrong somewhere.
Oh well....a mystery that will never get solved...I guess.

Thanks for the effort...

I've had several questions (swirling in my head) since you kindly restored my hidden posts from 2021, although I didn't write them here.
But it shocked/puzzled me why all of the sudden, you did that for me?
What was your motivation? Something caused you to do it.....
Clearly you definitely have top level priviledge/access on this site.
Cause I'm baffled by what made you do it?
My detective mode is on.
While I'm extremely hesitant to send a "pm" to or receive any ever again on the site, the fact that I literally am unable to--bothers me.
I still need help with the email situations that I've written about on this thread. How can I send or receive "pms" when I have "0" access to the emails associated with my monikers?
There remains the mystery....that needs to be solved.

Good to hear that. Very few christians come here to preach. If you don't mind sharing your course of study I will like to know. I studied mechanical engineering. But I practice farming for now. cheesy.

I didn't necessarily come here to "preach". I'm not a preacher of any sort. But if I'm honest with myself and my spirituality is the centerpiece and joy of my life--which means something to me--, then there's no way that I can not speak about it to others--or it not have some sort of major impact on how I live my life daily. I first started in the Religion section when I joined NL....left and ventured into/commented on several topics in several sections, and then came full circle back to this section.
I don't just reserve my comments for Sabbaths or Sunday's only. I'm here throughout the week.
I have however, missed the mark many times.
I really enjoy speaking about the Lord....or encouraging folks.

Ummm....I do mind speaking about my course of study in this thread...and basically the site.
Nothing to hide, but just not desiring to speak about (what I consider) to be private things on this site anymore.
I spoke about myself under previous monikers--publicly and--want to be more reserved now. Have to learn from my mistakes... smiley
I do not want this thread to be further derailed...if you understand. I, along with a few others, am guilty of having distracted folks ftom my original message on this thread. I don't want to do that again.

Hello Ms. E.viana. How was your day? What do you think about this:
"So if the Passover was on the first day of the week, and the Passover is our communion, and on communion we gathered as the disciples did back then, and if on the first day we store our tithes and offerings, and if on the first day Paul preached and thus someone preaches, then all that happens in church on the first day, and thus that is why church is on Sunday."

WHO IS ELLEN G. WHITE AND WHAT WAS HER ROLE TOWARDS THE CHURCH?

In the church's beliefs are "Spiritual Gifts/Ministry" & "The Gift of Prophecy", (both scripturally based).
Ellen G. White is the messenger of God that Seventh-day Adventists believe God chose to reveal important messages regarding prophecy & Christian living. She was one of the founding members, including her husband James White & Joseph Bates. They formed after William Miller, the originator of the Millerite movement, misinterpreted the prophetic date of 1844---thinking that would be the time of Jesus' return to earth. It was not. Something significant happened, but it was not Jesus' return. Seventh-day Adventists formed after studying the scriptures to find out where the Millerites had originally misinterpreted the prophecy.

What many people do not know is that Mrs. White was not the original person chosen to do this important, sobering work of having the gift of prophecy. There were (2) men before her who refused the call of God and who later admitted it. (Would have to read through more work to know that). So God called her and although reluctant at first, she accepted.

Mrs. White (who had a third/fourth grade education) had written over 5000 periodicals and 40 books during her lifetime. She is one of the most widely translated authors in history and covers a very wide range of subjects including prophetic events/prophecy, councils on
health/diet, dress reform, Christian living/ relationships etc.

One statement that was made by someone was that Mrs. White's books are revered more (by me) than the bible. However, his statement is false. Seventh-day Adventists get accused frequently of idolizing Mrs. White more than the bible.
While there may be some in the faith who tend to venture towards fanaticism....the official statement of the church is to hold the bible as the ultimate authority. That is what I do....the bible first. The majority of my posts and interactions have revolved around the bible.

I have also repeatedly used Isaiah 8:20 (KJV) as my reference for anyone who claims or claimed to be a "prophet/prophetess"/messenger of God...including Ellen G. White and I, personally, am convinced that she indeed was.

Out of her 40 books written, I chose to highlight (2) of her books here on N.L.
I posted (3) chapters from one of the most important books that I have ever read, "The Great Controversy"--an historical, present and future book of prophecy for the world-- and (2) chapters from another of the most important books I have ever read, "The Desire of Ages" --an account of the life & Ministry of Jesus Christ--.
Another very beautifully written book and small book is entitled, "Steps To Christ".

What I found interesting, though, is that a rather popular Nairaland member in one of the most popular sections of this site --the Romance section-(of whom I never conversed with nor do I know of his religious affiliation or his views on religion in general) even referenced one of her writings in support of a thread he created regarding relationships! How I even found that thread had to only have been through the Holy Spirit. So even the non-religious (if he is) see the God-given wisdom in her writings.

Mrs. White's books were never to take the position of being greater than the greatest book on earth--the bible. She even stated that numerous times. The messages and prophecy were to always line up with scripture....

An accusation was hurled regarding my personal stance on women NOT being called to "pastoral ministry" and yet Ellen White (a member of the SDA church) being a messenger of God.
She was a prophetess....not a pastor or elder.
As I have stated numerous times on Nairaland via multiple threads, women have been called to ministry. Women are very special in God's eyes and oftentimes are the backbone of the church.

Examples: Deborah, Esther, Miriam, and many more etc.,

Women fulfill countless roles within the church (including prophesying), however, "pastoring" is not one of them.
God has equipped and called men to head the church (pastoring) in that capacity. That has always been my conviction since giving my life to Christ.
I know that many will disagree with me and that's ok.

Part 7

A brief summary of the church's history and "founders" revolves around William Miller,  (a former Baptist minister) to whom the "Millerite" movement was named after.
Miller is best known for his belief that Christ' imminent return would be in 1844....(later termed the "Great Disappointment).
While Miller had the date right, he had the event wrong. Something did occur in 1844 concerning Christ, but it was not His second coming.
Some followers left the faith and the remaining studied what happened in 1844...and where they went wrong in their belief....hence the birth of Seventh-day Adventists.

The three prominent figures (or founders) to emerge during that time were also members of other denominations---before formally becoming "adventists".
They were James & Ellen G. White (husband/wife) and Joseph Bates.

God is greater than Jesus.
1 Corinthians 15:27
For he “has put everything under his feet.” Now when it says that “everything” has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ.

When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all.

Understood....
I would never want folks to think that I don't honor The Creator of the Universe--God the Father.

I acknowledege the deity of Jesus Christ-- hence why I said Creator....the deity places Him as equal to the Father in my eyes.
My apologies for the confusion this may have caused. It can appear complicated and confusing to some.

What matters the most to me is the One who died for me, will accept my confession of sin(s), and can forgive and cleanse me into a new creature in Him.

Thanks ma, but couldn't correlate your exact point. Please will you care give us short summary of the whole quoted scriptures for purpose of clarity

No problem...you are welcome.
1. Jesus Christ is Lord, Owner, of the Earth, galaxy, everything etc. and not even the devil himself can do anything unless he get permission from the Lord.

2. There is also a spiritual war going on which consists of good and evil-- one or the other--which has to play out for a specified amount of time.

3. People get possessed by demonic spirits on a daily and when you see all of this sin--death, carnage, bloodshed, unspeakable violence etc., just know that spirits are influencing them.

Thanks, I am still waiting for your Biblical support for your great piece of comment

I appreciate your reply.
While there are tons of scriptures, I'm gonna list a few.
What I can do is list a few scriptures, but you will have to sincerely pray for the Holy Spirit to give you spiritual clarity if still in doubt.

Ephesians 6:10-12 (KJV)
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places

Matthew 28:18 (KJV)

18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

Psalm 22:28 (KJV)
28 For the kingdom is the Lord's: and he is the governor among the nations

Psalm 24:1-3 (KJV)
24 The earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

2 For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.

3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the Lord? or who shall stand in his holy place?

Psalm 66:7 (KJV)
7 He ruleth by his power for ever; his eyes behold the nations: let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah

Revelation 12:9 (KJV)
9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him

Job 1:6-21 (KJV)
6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them.

7 And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

8 And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job
, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?

9 Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?

10 Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

11 But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.

12 And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord.

13 And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house:

14 And there came a messenger unto Job, and said, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding beside them:

15 And the Sabeans fell upon them, and took them away; yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

16 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

17 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have carried them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

18 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house:

19 And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

20 Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped,

21 And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.

John 19:11 (KJV)
11 Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin

1 Peter 5:8 (KJV)
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour

Mark 5:1-13
5 And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes.

2And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit

3 Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:

4 Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.

5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.

6 But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him

7 And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.

8 For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.

9 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.

10 And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.

11 Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.

12 And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.

13 And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand and were choked in the sea

Religion / Re: Pray For Popular Pastors by Eviana(f): 1:50pm On Jan 29, 2023
Yes, this is definitely needed.
I can't understand why people seek titles and positions (especially in the church) when there's a massive responsibilty to the Lord of Hosts for leading His flock?

I tremble for many "popular" preachers......cause I think about Matthew 7:21-23 (KJV)

Many "popular" pastors have fallen into idolatry snd develop a dangerously immeasurable amount of pride.

Many popular pastors have won the loyalty of people--(who also have made "man"/pastor their idol and forgotten Jesus), but have forgotten the high standard of Christ Jesus. They then seek favor of their flocks rather than the Lord. The flock also is in jeopardy in Christ's eyes. So it's two-fold also..

Anyhow, I will definitely pray for all pastors--especially the "popular" ones--especially in Nigeria. Praying for one even now...cause this group is in the greatest danger for sure.
Good message

The God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel is definitely the supreme ruler over this earth....
With His sovereignity, He has allowed a created being--Lucifer/satan-- to have massive dominion over the earth.
What is happening there in Nigeria is that a principality has had and continues to have massive dominion. Spiritual wickedness in high places is what is going on. Until people understand that spiritual warfare is the main thing...people possessed with demons, familiar spirits etc. operating on the earth, and trying to recruit as many as possible, then .....well....need I say more. This thing is spiritual--not fleshly. We, humans, cannot discern cause we don't know Jesus. We open the doors for spirits (either the Holy or fallen) to possess us and then we live our lives influenced by the spirit(s) inhabiting us.
Next comes confusion, chaos, disorder, death.....etc., and the cycle continues for generations.
Be not mistaken though-- God sees all....and is ultimately in control of all.

Many scriptures exist to support this.
Will have to come back to list some.

Religion / Re: Chris Tucker Turned Down $10 Million To Stay True To His Faith by Eviana(f): 11:31pm On Jan 26, 2023
Definitely believers need to continue to keep Chris in our prayers.
Although, I've (believe it or not) never seen any of his smash-hit movies from decades ago--when I wasn't serious in my faith, I do know that he was extremely popular, attractive, and made multiple millions......in his "heyday". He's turned down much more than 10-12, considering the many other movie project offers that have come his way since being born-again.

There will always probably be a strong temptation to go back, but I hope he stays true to his convictions...
Having been in Hollywood, he's no doubt seen and done a whole lot.
For the truly born-again Christian, money isn't everything nor worth sacrificing morality and obedience to Christ. Some offers a Christian simply can NOT take with a clear conscience. High respect for Mr. Chris.

He's been set free...
John 8:36 (KJV)
"If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
"

P.S. Need to continue prayers for Kanye also ---who hasn't quite made a 100 percent choice to fully serve Christ. Heavy spiritual warfare on him.
