Religion / Re: Courage From Their Cowardice by Eviana(f): 2:51pm On Sep 29, 2021 |
Part 3 COURAGE I must admit: I am deeply drawn towards courageous people. It is an attractive trait and many do not posses it. I admire those people who are personally willing to give their lives for a cause that ultimately will benefit unnumbered lives. We have either seen or read about certain instances numerous times throughout earth's existence. While I may not have agreed with all of the situations, the one thing the leaders had in common was "courage". Let me clarify "courageous". Meaning those persons who stand for a righteous cause to the point of death. "Righteous" meaning, a cause that does no harm to others, and demands basic civil rights for all. Even more importantly, hopefully the cause glorifies the Lord God. "Courage" as defined by Merriam- Webster's dictionary, is the "mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty" https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary For Christians, "Godly courage" minus the praise and applause from people really is NOT an option. It is a mandate. One cannot serve the Lord and be cowardly. Not a reckless courage that only displays with a crowd once the dust from a storm settles. Yes, and although it is a fact that "love" (the Fruit of the Spirit displayed in one's life) characterizes a disciple of Christ, we have been given a message to boldly give to the world: Jesus saves! There's an old secular adage (which I am paraphrasing) that says the worst thing a great person can do is be silent when he/she knows a situation is wrong. I am guilty of having done that a few times in my life...and have tried to not repeat that cowardice deliberately in my adult life. I may even be on the other end of the spectrum now. May one, however, never find oneself in a situation where one sits idly by--due to fear-- and does or says nothing. Courage will be needed in these last days for those professing Christ. God expects His children to rightfully represent Him and to proclaim His message to a sin-sick, hopeless, dying world. That takes courage. He also expects His professed children to encourage, comfort, strengthen, lovingly rebuke and defend one another against attacks from the enemy. That takes courage. To Be Continued... Examples of courage vs. cowardice of certain people in certain situations in the Bible and how we "can" or "cannot" display those. The Bible is given to us as an ensample.. |

GetMeRight: Your comment (paid or not) is another reason why Islam is labeled like it is. It sickens me (looking from the outside in) to see comments like yours... You are helping further degrade Nigeria to the outside world (which has major implications)....hope you know. Please don't make this a tribal war. Don't bring the Southeast into it. They have nothing to do with the thread at all. The thread is about the Taliban in Afghanistan and they are horrific. |

tete7000: Maybe Stockholm syndrome has paralyzed Nigerians. Or perhaps they're too afraid to stand up for fear of reprisal....torture or death. Very, very few people have the courage of __________ & __________& ______. etc.,not fearing death because they have a passion and fire inside of them...whether one walks with them or not. Leaders ready to die for the greater cause of the people. Fear paralyzes.....alienation.....ostracization..... misrepresentation...lies....etc. the majority cannot handle that. As I look from the outside in, I keep wondering why has Nigeria become so problematic and depressing? I dare to say it's because of the above.. |

ademidedavid: Were you interested in scripture--pertaining to marriage between Christians and unbelievers--or was your thread to just vent your personal frustration with all due respect? Are you wanting to marry outside of your religion and looking to justify it? Also, and not trying to be harsh, but your parents could not have been "devout" in their religions if they deliberately walked into marriage with (2) very different religious belief systems in which one would have to compromise to the other. Not to be discriminatory, but there are certain foundational beliefs that (2) people in a marriage cannot compromise on. |

Good morning and Happy Monday! Have a wonderful day! Proverbs 12: 2-3, 5-7, 9-10, 13, 15-23 (NLT) 2 The Lord approves of those who are good, but he condemns those who plan wickedness. 3 Wickedness never brings stability, but the godly have deep roots. 5 The plans of the godly are just; the advice of the wicked is treacherous. 6 The words of the wicked are like a murderous ambush, but the words of the godly save lives. 7 The wicked die and disappear, but the family of the godly stands firm. 9 Better to be an ordinary person with a servant than to be self-important but have no food. 10 The godly care for their animals, but the wicked are always cruel. 13 The wicked are trapped by their own words, but the godly escape such trouble. 15 Fools think their own way is right, but the wise listen to others. 16 A fool is quick-tempered, but a wise person stays calm when insulted. 17 An honest witness tells the truth; a false witness tells lies 18 Some people make cutting remarks, but the words of the wise bring healing. 19 Truthful words stand the test of time, but lies are soon exposed. 20 Deceit fills hearts that are plotting evil; joy fills hearts that are planning peace! 21 No harm comes to the godly, but the wicked have their fill of trouble. 22 The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in those who tell the truth. 23 The wise don’t make a show of their knowledge, but fools broadcast their foolishness |

In the above bolded sentence the correct word in parentheses "ignorance", is being used as a noun (a particular term called a part of speech) in the English language. Pick up the money and give it back the pastor.. Do not pocket it. That would make you a thief.. which is against God's character. A blessing wouldn't come in a manner where you would "rob Peter to pay Paul" type of situation. The pastor would probably be utterly embarrassed and perhaps hand it to you anyway. Who knows? God would deal with the pastor and you would still be blessed regardless. |

Honestly, the sickness/debauchery never ends in Nigeria. I'm running out of words to describe there. Superstition (based on poverty) is out of control--causing murder, mayhem and religious persecution... mercy.. This is truly exhausting reading slaughter after slaughter after slaughter....day after day after day... I am fully convinced that the enemy-satan's, throne is in Nigeria and he has truly taken over. My apologies if one is offended. Sometimes, I'm really ashamed to be part Nigerian... |
