Business / Re: Unilever Nigeria Stops Production, Sales Of Omo, Lux by Evolutionism: 11:06pm On Jan 19
Omihanifa:
Unilever Nigeria says it has stopped
production and sales of home care and skin cleansing products — 10 months after the company announced plans to exit both markets.

The company disclosed this in its unaudited interim financial statements for the year ended December 31, 2023, published on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) on Wednesday.

On March 17, 2023, Unilever Nigeria revealed its intention to discontinue production of its homecare and skin-cleansing brands, which include Omo, Sunlight and Lux.

In a statement in the company’s earnings report, Unilever Nigeria said production and sales “ceased in December 2023”.

Unilever said the factory used to produce the home care and skin cleansing products has been leased out to a third party.

“Subsequent to the company’s exit from the Home Care and Skin Cleansing categories, the factory buildings have been leased to a third party for a duration of 10 years, with annual rental payments,” the company said.

Unilever Nigeria’s exit from the homecare and skin-cleansing markets leaves the company with just the foods, beauty and wellbeing, as well as personal care products.

Prior to Unilever Nigeria’s exit from both markets, the company reported a decline in revenue and an increase in losses.

Revenue fell by 45.1 percent year-on-year to N16,48 billion in 2023, from N23,92 billion grossed between January to December 2022.

Also, loss increased to N3.72 billion last year, compared to the previous year’s N1.49 billion.

Okay.

Crime / Re: CSOs Protest In Abuja, Demand Sack Of REA MD, Salihijo Ahmad (Video, Pictures) by Evolutionism: 6:59pm On Jan 16
falopeogundipe:
Protest is underway in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, over allegations of perpetrating multi-billion naira fraud levelled at the Managing Director of Rural Electrification Agency, REA, Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad.

Two groups, Zero Tolerance for Social Immoralities Initiative, ZETSI, and Concerned Nigerian Citizens Action Against Corruption, are currently protesting at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission headquarters and the Federal Ministry of Power respectively against Ahmad.

The protesters chorusing, "All We are saying Tinubu Sack Salihijo," carried placards with various inscriptions: "What is Good for Betta Edu is Good for Salihijo", "Tinubu, EFCC You Are Gender Bias", "Betta Edu transferred N585M into Personal account, Salihijo transferred N1.2bn REA Money into Personal Accounts."

Others are: "Salihijo has 37 bank accounts linked to his BVN with two in his mother's name", "Salihijo Awarded N200M Contract to himself", "World Bank, Others should stop loans to NEP, a Unit in REA because Salihijo is Stealing it."

Speaking at the EFCC protest, ZESTI convener, Ambassador Ibrahim Abdulrazak Imam, expressed disappointment in alleged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and anti-graft agencies' condoning of Salihijo.

Ibrahim stated that Tinubu and others turned blind eyes to purported financial malfeasance of the REA boss at the expense of electricity to disadvantaged Nigerian communities.

According to him, "We are aware that the EFCC are in receipt of several petitions detailing how Salihijo has been siphoning money off REA to the point of having 37 bank accounts linked to his BVN with two in his mother's name and many discrepancies in the account name and the date of birth he used to open those accounts.

"Over one Billion dollar loans from International Financial Institutions for electricity generation obtained by Nigeria Electrification Project, a unit in Rural Electrification Agency under Salihijo has been misappropriated.

"If President Tinubu can suspend Humanitarian Affairs minister, Betta Edu for attempting to defraud the nation of N585M and the EFCC is running after the young lady what is stopping the President and the EFCC from bringing Salihijo to book despite the weighty documentary evidence of the financial shenanigans perpetrated by Salihijo that are before them.

"Is it because Salihijo is a man like Tinubu and the EFCC Chairman? And it's a man's world? What's good for Edu is good for Salihijo."

Blvck man can't help himself.

It's very unfortunate.

Jose Mourinho has been sacked as head coach by Roma.

Mourinho, 60, had been at the helm of the Serie A club since the summer of 2021 and guided them to the Europa Conference League title in 2022 and the Europa League final the following season.

However, Roma have struggled domestically and currently sit ninth in the Italian top-flight — Sunday’s 3-1 loss at Milan was their third defeat in five league games and has proved to be Mourinho’s final game as boss.

Kenochi:
Let me take sometime to educate Nigerians before some people will come here and start claiming that the Economy is failing
Most operators in Nigeria's Upstream Oil and Gas Sector know that their game is up,there was a time Nigeria through the NNPCL had to resort to the importation of Refined Crude oil for close to 20 years. This allowed NNPCL and most Oil and Gas companies to participate in the controversy Oil Swap
Most Oil and Gas Companies used this fraudulent practice to shortchange the country, they collected crude oil and brought back Refined crude oil and still collected subsidy. Nigeria was fair game and all this big Oil companies looted Nigeria dry
Then something happened, the Dangote Refinery was mooted and this would put an end to this evil practice. Most Oil Companies knee that if this Refinery ever started their easy money was over
My people, this is what is happening. I am confident that more Oil companies will leave the country because their access to free money is gone for good

Still selling good properties with good titles at the Ibeju Lekki Industrial Hub....kindly check my signature

Armed bandits stormed a joint military camp in Nahuta village, Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina state on Sunday night, leaving a trail of destruction and looted goods in their wake.

Sources within the camp confirmed the attack occurred around 11:30 pm. The heavily-armed bandits, wielding AK-47s among other weapons reportedly set ablaze vehicles and other valuables. Despite being outnumbered, the courageous soldiers managed to repel the assault as no life was lost.

“The bandits outweighed us and invaded the camp, causing considerable damage,” a source revealed, lamenting the lack of reinforcements throughout the encounter.

Taking advantage of the chaos, the bandits unleashed further mayhem upon Nahuta town. They ransacked shops, broke into houses, and looted properties and livestock worth millions of naira, leaving residents traumatized and dispossessed.

As of this report, security agencies have yet to officially comment on the latest bandit attack in the state which continues to grapple with the persistent menace of banditry and kidnapping.

RETURNOFENDSARS:
I'm a lawyer, called in 2016. I'm married with a kid and I'm in my early 30s. My wife is not working, so I have been the one shouldering the responsibility, despite that, God has given me my own house. Three bedrooms flat in front and three bedrooms flat at the back, all with full pop, water heater, full tiles, in fact all the modern facilities.
In all honesty I made between 600k-1.5m per month.

Just of recent, the zeal to Japa to Canada has been on my mind through school route. I currently have like 7m in my account and I know I could raise it till 15m before the end of the year. The cost of schooling keep giving me issue. How will someone travel abroad and spend over 15m when I could used the money to buy hostel from people who desperately needs money or invest in real estate.

Another concern of mine is that the future of legal profession is reducing because of the amount clients are paying particularly in the area of agreement and other things.

Definitely, I won't be selling the house if I decide to relocate, the rent from the two flats will go to my mom and the least could only be 500k per year. I won't have issues sending money at home.

Please, I really need advice from lawyers that are there, how do you cope migrating. Is it advisable I leave, if yes, what are the first things I might encounter, if am relocating it will be with my family. I just don't want to regret relocating. The exchange rate is just too much

Stay permanently in Nigeria.

Fvckdgovt:

Kidnappers who abducted 10 persons from an estate, Sagwari Layout, Dutse, Abuja, on January 7 reportedly killed three of their victims to send a strong warning to their relatives negotiating ransom payment.

The development came even as it was gathered that the bandits have now increased their demand from the initial N60 million per person to N100 million, now totaling N700 million.

Residents said the victims were allegedly killed over the ‘delay’ in raising the ransom demanded by the kidnappers.

Vanguard gathered that a 13-year-old high school student, identified as Folorunsho Ariyo, was among those killed.

Only on Sunday, reports emerged that the kidnappers, who also operated in some villages in Bwari, had killed one of the six abducted persons to force the family into quickly raising the demanded ransom.

Dutse is a town under the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Pressed to the wall, residents of Sagwari Layout have perfected plans to stage a massive protest against the perceived inaction of the government and security agencies in rescuing their kin.

Initially planned for Monday, the protest was shifted to Tuesday as a result of Armed Forces Remembrance Day.
