Niger-Delta militants have threatened to attack Lagos and Abuja in a recently released video. A new threat has been issued by some Niger Delta militants who thretened to destroy oil facilities in Abuja and Lagos. In a video that was shared by AIT television, the militants accused the Federal government of abandoning the region, leaving it without basic amenities such as roads and schools. One of the militants who read a statement from the group said as part of measures they would employ to register their displeasure, they plan to destroy infrastructures in Abuja and Lagos as well as oil facilities both onshore and offshore. ''The military that ought to protect properties have turned themselves into militaries of killing, raping and maiming innocent individuals and rending our youths jobless. So many others have decided to treat us in same manner. Don't worry because we are coming to destroy all your infrastructures in Abuja and Lagos. Even to the oil companies operating in our region that have descided to undermine our people, be rest assured that your days would soon catch up with you. Due to the insenstive nature of the Nigerian government on issues that are bothering its citizens, today the country is in turmoil. Protest everywhere and strike in several sectors. The EndSARS protest that took place almost crippled the nation's economy. It is amongst such ill treatments that gave birth to this unprecedented protest. Nigerian government ought to give her citizens good governance. Today, the various zones in the country are calling for division of the country called Nigeria. So as a group determined to give total liberation of her people, we will destroy all the oil facilities both onshore and offshore in no distant time. We will be seen to be crippling the Nigerian economy in no distant time as well.'' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGgmYBV-ndc https://dailypost.ng/2021/02/23/breaking-niger-delta-militants-threaten-to-attack-abuja-lagos-video/ |

According to a report by The Nation, a Nigerian pastor has been locked out of his own church in Benue. Members of Congregation of NKST Church Achusa gave their resident Pastor a shock valentine treatment on Sunday as they asked him to vacate his seat and leave the church. The warring church members also stopped the embattled pastor from conducting service. Worshippers, who turned out for service, were stranded as the warring factions put the church under lock and key. When The Nation visited the church located in one of the new lay out in Makurdi , worshippers were seen milling around the gate which was locked up by warring members. There was however uneasy calm as the pastor and his supporters were adamant, saying he will stay put. NKST is a predominantly Tiv church with its synod headquarters in Mkar, Gboko . The Nation gathered some members of the church have accused the resident pastor of some strange doctrine and want him removed. But under the NKST church rules, only the Synod in Mkar, Gboko can sanction a resident pastor . As at press time, there was tension within the church premises as the crisis continues. https://thenationonlineng.net/members-lock-out-pastor-in-benue/

A Magistrates Court in Lagos State has ordered that a DNA paternity test be conducted on the daughter of a Yoruba actress, Ronke Odusanya following her separation from her estranged partner, Olanrewaju Saheed. Premium Times reports that Magistrate M.O. Tanimola gave the order on Wednesday when the case was brought before her at Court 8, Samuel Ilori Court House, Ogba, Ikeja magisterial district, Lagos. The actress and her estranged partner, Olanrewaju Saheed, popularly known as Jago welcomed their daughter in 2019. The pair are currently in court for several reasons including the welfare of their daughter, Oluwafifehanmi. It was reported that Saheed, through his lawyer, requested the court to order a DNA test to ascertain the paternity of the child, on the grounds of suspicion of infidelity when the matter came up in court on Wednesday, The actress and her lawyer reportedly agreed to the request on the condition that the DNA fees and other bills be footed by Saheed. The actress’ lawyer also pleaded with the court to ensure it is a court-supervised DNA test. Ms. Tanimola, ruling, decided on an undisclosed hospital on Lagos Island for the test to be done, and for the results to be sent directly to the court. She adjourned the case till March 31, for further hearing. Reports of their messy separation scandal first surfaced online in December 2020. At the time, it was alleged that the actress ‘‘ruined the father of her child, financially by making him sell off his assets to fulfill her luxurious desires.” Responding to the allegations, the Yoruba actress said the rumours were 'irritating and fact-less information." She also slammed the report that she ruined the father of her child, financially, saying "bank statements can reveal who has been receiving money from who and for what." “While my silence will be taken for cowardice, I will be calm because the truth always reveals itself. I can defend myself but I won’t want my daughter to grow up reading such irritating and fact-less information. The court of social media has always been myopic and manipulative. “Remember you did not make me, you cannot break me. Bank statements can reveal who has been receiving money from who and for what. Investigate before publishing. For the platform used for peddling such absurdity, seeds sown will surely germinate,” she said. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/442457-court-orders-paternity-test-for-actress-ronke-odusanyas-daughter.html

The Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, has written to the Central Bank Governor complaining of the exclusion of the Northern Nigeria from critical aspects of the nation’s financial life. In the letter dated 29th January 2021 and signed by Chief Audu Ogbeh, the former Minister of Agriculture and Chairman of ACF, observed that Northern Nigeria which is the most populous region in the country is “unserved and underserved”. ACF in the letter, regretted that government’s policy of Financial inclusion targeted at the grassroots who form the critical mass of the people by creating jobs and engaging the youths in gainful entrepreneurship, may not succeed in the north. He observed that the Microfinance Banks that are looked upon to serve the majority of the people all over the country are not properly positioned to do this. “Only one government owned Micro Finance which is fairly new in the business is being patronized by CBN to disburse intervention funds, thereby neglecting and denying other dully licensed Microfinance Banks across the country the privilege and opportunity to participate in this noble cause,” the letter stated. According to him, this bank enjoys the unfair advantage of cheap government funds from the government while other Microfinance Banks have to source for expensive funds to compete with the favoured bank in the same market. He said for the government’s policy of ‘intervention funds’ to the economically poor and micro, small and medium enterprises in every nook and crannies of this country, particularly the north to be successful, other strong and reliable Microfinance Banks must be involved. The letter also criticised the CBNs new capital requirement for Microfinance Banks. According to him “the astronomical review of the CBNs new capital requirement will see to the demise of most of the Microfinance Banks presently operating in the north. He said only 310 Microfinance Banks are operational in the north and with the new policy, only 15% of them will survive. This development, he observed ,will further exclude a good part of the north from financial services and inclusion, compound the negative effects of the second wave of COVID19, aggravate the poverty level of the north and weaken the insecurity of the region. He also criticised the April 2021 closing date for the recapitalisation of the Microfinance Banks and suggested April 2025. He argued that this will give the banks more time to source for the funds needed at this time of economic depression. While appreciating the efforts of the CBN in alleviating poverty, Chief Audu Ogbe, urged the CBN Governor to accept the suggestions put to him by the ACF in good faith. Wole Soyinka, has said he doesn't believe that President Buhari is in charge of the country. According to the Noble laureate, the manner the President has so far handled insecurity, suggests that he doesn't have a full grasp of how bad it is. Speaking in an interview with Arise TV, Soyinka said he doesn’t see any proof that the president understands how much needs to be done in terms of improving security. “I have said this before and I wish to repeat this. Buhari does not appreciate the situation; he doesn’t understand. I see no evidence that he understands how grave the situation is. I have said it again and again, I don’t believe that he is in charge, because it is not possible in my view for a head of state, commander-in-chief of the armed forces, to say he is presiding over a nation and things get to this level. Something is critically wrong within the leadership of this nation and that is where we civilians must come in. You must pick up this slack for our own situation, our own salvation, and this is one of the things we engaged in and that is why I resent this becoming individualised. Wole Soyinka is just another individual, just like another farmer, another student and I wanted people to understand this. What happened to me with this incident is just typical of what is happening to millions of people all over the country and we cannot just sit still” he said https://punchng.com/herdsmen-crisis-i-dont-believe-buhari-is-in-charge-says-soyinka/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qTAyfx7X9Q |
Olaokun, son of Wole Soyinka, Nobel laureate, says herders did not attack his father’s house in Ogun state. In a statement on Wednesday, Olaokun was reacting to a viral video on social media, in which it was alleged that the Nobel laureate’s house was attacked by herders on Tuesday. In the video, a voice who claimed to work for a media house, said some herders attacked Soyinka’s house and threatened to kill him. According to the narrator in the video, the herders were arrested and remanded at a police station in the state. Olaokun, however, stated that his father was not attacked, and there was no violence, although the herders trespassed into his land. “To repeat, I have confirmed that while cows did stray onto his land yesterday, there has been no attack, no violence and no attempt to enter the house,” Olaokun said. “Kindly debunk this information where you can. We do not need confusion added to the already tense situation in the country.” There has been rising tension in the south-west over the activities of herders in the region, as some herders have been accused of masterminding abductions and killings in some communities. https://www.thecable.ng/fake-news-alert-herders-didnt-attack-soyinka-says-son |

Following the recent uproar in the country about the Fulani herdsmen being evicted in some parts of the country, the senate would address it upon resumption tomorrow. Senator Yahaya Abdullahi has disclosed that the senate will deliberate on the menace of Fulani herdsmen across the country on resumption on Tuesday. Abdullahi, who spoke with journalists in his office, said his deputy who is representing Ondo North in the Senate, Prof. Ajayi Boroffice, will come up with a motion on the issue. Abdullahi said the Federal Government has a role to play in resolving the crisis, stressing that local political leaders should be encouraged to find lasting solution to it. The Presidency had opposed a recent directive by the Ondo State Government that Fulani herdsmen should vacate the Ondo forest reserves. President Muhammadu Buhari through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, had wondered why Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, a legal luminary, could unilaterally issue the quit order without taking cognizance of the constitution that guarantees the rights of citizens to movement and to live in any part of the country. But Abdullahi said rather than involving itself in the issue, the Presidency should encourage political and traditional rulers to play major roles in resolving it. He said, “ This is a kind of crisis that is tending towards governance trajectory where some political actors and ethnic entrepreneurs are coming into the process and spoiling the waters. “These are existential issues that have set communities that have hitherto been living together peacefully, against each other, either for political advantage or political matters. “These are issues that should be resolved at the local level either through dialogue or give and take. “They are people that had lived together, they should come together and engage in a dialogue. “The Federal Government is too distant to resolve every communal dispute everywhere. Inter- communal dispute should be resolved by the people in the area. “They should be resolved by political leaders at the level of the National Assembly, at the level of the governors, local government councilors to sit down with their people so that a lot of these issues can be articulated and addressed by the local population. “This is what the governors at their levels should do not to always run to the presidency, to solve one dispute here and there How many arms does the Federal Government have? “This is a federation and we are all politically responsible leaders. At the various level where they are they should sit down and talk to one another on this disputes. “I can assure you that in no distant time these inter-communal conflagrations would be resolved. I think the way it may be resolved is in the interest of this country’s unity and integrity. “There would be hopefully tomorrow (Tuesday) or Wednesday a general motion will be sponsored by the Deputy Senate Leader Ajayi Boroffice; he will come with a motion on the issue on the floor of the Senate tomorrow.” https://punchng.com/senate-to-debate-fulani-herdsmen-crisis-tuesday/ |

A man has said most conversations about who will cook and do house chores in marriages are had by people who are poor. He pointed out that when he gained access to a washing machine for the first time, he stopped bothering himself with conversations about washing. He added that the same goes for arguments about who pays the bills on a date. He tweeted: "Gained access to a washing machine in college and promptly stopped bothering myself with conversations about washing clothes. You engage in some conversations simply because you're poor or you've been poor for so long. "Conversations about house chores and cooking? Yup, you guessed right. It's because you're poor or have been for so long. Saying so because in Nigeria, these issues can be solved with 50k or less per month. "Honorary mention to conversations about paying for dinner dates and stuff. You see that passion with which you argue about the subject, that's how passionately poverty is romancing or has romanced your life. May God make a way. A Nigerian police inspector has been arrested by the Kano State Islamic Police Corps, Hisbah and Kano State Road Traffic Authority (KAROTA) for purchasing beer. A source told SaharaReporters that the police officer, popularly known as OC Gulder, is a Christian who manages the police mess at Panshekara, Mopol 52 in the Sharada area of the state. According to the source, OC Gulder usually goes to Sabon Gari town to buy beer and other things to sell at the police mess he manages. He said the KAROTA had trailed the officer to the town and arrested him after which they handed him over to Hisbah for allegedly supplying 1,000 cartons of beer to a beer dealer in the state. The source said, "He was not there to supply beer; he only comes to town to buy and resell. He is a Christian, he has the liberty to buy and drink beer. I suspect other officers in the station hate him because he manages police mess at Mopol 52 in Sharada area of Kano state. "He's an inspector for that matter. We call him OC Gulder. Last Saturday, he came into town again. We have a state police called KAROTA, under Gwangwashu, there's another one called Hisbah, also under the state but the Nigeria Police Force is superior to them. This officer was coming with a police vehicle and KAROTA stopped him, he did not stop because he is an officer. "Then they followed him and accused him of using a police vehicle to supply beer, he told them he was a police officer. These KAROTA officers arrested the police officer and took him to one police station along Sabon Gari. They came with 4 hilux buses, armed. Then they went to report to Hisbah that the officer was bringing beer to Kano, that they were stopping him and he didn't stop. "They said he wanted to spoil their religion. Hisbah then gave the order, and packed over 1,000 cartons of beer bottles from one Obinna's shop in Sabon Gari. They did this to implicate the police officer. They said it was the police officer that brought beer for the young man but he told them he had only come to purchase beer. But it was already late, it was around 1am. "Now, Obinna said when the officer called him, he told the officer he had closed but the officer said because of his police work, he would be on duty and that time was the only time he had to go to Obinna's shop to make his purchase. Obinna is from Enugu State. "The police officer is still locked up in their cell." http://saharareporters.com/2021/02/04/kano-traffic-agency-hisbah-arrest-police-officer-buying-beer

A former President, National Union of Benue Students, Lubem Terkula Aluta Genera, has lamented about the increase in "crime and prostitution" in Benue State as a result of poverty, economic deprivation and mismanagement of state resources. According to the former student leader, traders and bussinessmen from other parts of the country prosper in Tivland, adding that all the luxury homes in the state particularly the capital, are owned by them while 77% of Benue indigenes live in mud houses with thatched roof. Read his post below: WHAT CAN WE DO ![]() Direction Check from Wurukum to High-level down to Modern market pass across develope areas in makurdi, all Duplex, mansions and luxury homes are owned by strangers. Why 77% Benuelites lived in mud houses with thatched roof. Have you accompanied a politician or any man who is populary known as a rich man in Benue state to his or her village lately? You will see hefty men whose palpable muscles are only for farming, begging him for money forcefully? Or you will see old women singing songs and following him up and down? Also you will see very promising young ladies dancing dirty? Trace these attributes properly. This is the picture of poverty in the land. Don't be confused if you see young girls becoming prostitutes day by day. In the night, for some of you who stay in Makurdi or visit often.
