Mightymanna: Imagine the brutality they went through in the hands of boko boys. They will now come back to the street and start forming macho soldiers brutalizing civilians with all their might. I don't even why the military are all over the towns, banks, roads, public buildings etc in a sane country you will hardly see a military man unless if there is a emergency. I would hope the soldiers were honourably discharged and paid pensions for going through whatever hell they witnessed but this is Nigeria after all. Those individuals with possible underlying mental issues could be redeployed to a peaceful place and wreak havoc from always being on edge. However one thing we must realise is that Boko Haram were once a group of 'bloody civilians'. If a small group of 'bloody civilians' can disturb the Nigerian military like this for 10 years imagine what millions of them can do once they have had enough. |

rtdCivilservant: It's funny the way u guys talk at times, in Nigeria u people hate yourselves, always fighting, igbos hate yorubas and yorubas hate igbos, same with the hausas. So u want a Nigerian to be appointed in another man's country? Let me ask u, if u were igbo and the governor of ur state appoints a yoruba man as his deputy I am very sure u wouldn't like the idea or for sure ur people wouldn't like it, the reverse will happen if u were yoruba. What am I trying to say, love yourselves and treat each other with respect before u expect an outside to love u, nobody here has any right to complain, let us stop being hypocritical. The Oyo state governor has given appointment to an igbo woman. https://www.nairaland.com/5565596/makinde-appoints-julian-nwachukwu-igboSo has the Lagos State governor https://www.nairaland.com/36545/tinubu-appoints-igbo-commissionerThe governor of Enugu has done the same http://saandb.com/the-team/dr-festus-adedayo/ Don't be fooled by idiotic and jobless tribalists on nairaland. |

MERCHANDISER: Western media has made everything non_western evil. We need to sit down and look at it logically. Nigeria has been struggling to fight BH for decade, US has never shown any genuine support, infact, at a time they're were technically supporting BH by blocking every opportunity to access weapons. Whereas, the same US has been building sophisticated millitary bases all over Africa with several billions of dollars even all over islands in Africa. In a continent struggling to provide as basic thing as clean water, road, edu, etc. In term of infrastructural development, US hasnt built anything tangible anywhere in Africa despite her big economy and influence. On the other hand, China is building projects across Africa from electricity to train to Airport, roads, scholarships to Africans, etc even with their own money. Let's say we can't pay and they take over them, who would still be using those infrastructure, Chinese? At least they brought them here, so if we can't pay back and they take over them these things would still be in use by Africans and improve quality of life, just like every private business. US/Trump that everyone is supporting call Africans all kinds to unprintable names, visa ban, reporting weak sides of African nations and continuously ridiculing everything we do. The list is long. China hasnt done any of these yet, western media still find their ways into the hearts of Africans to hate Chinese. Sadly, enough some fake pastors joined this brainwashed citizens. When Bill Gates was helping African people weren't people calling it the 'white saviour complex'? When foreign soldiers offered to fight Boko Haram didn't Jonathan say no? When Britain ruled and was building infrastructure didn't we campaign for independence? You people are foolishly accepting a repeat of European colonialism. The Europeans didn't come bringing warships initially, they came bringing trade and building alliances , after they found resources they brought more of their people over and took over. China is simply building infrastructure they they will take over when they have brought enough of their people and own enough of the land. None of China's overseas projects are done out of the goodness of their hearts, it is simply to give them greater power and influence around the world. |

Blackking98: the Nigerian power sector needs a complete over hauling and revolution for it to succeed, too much centralisation is not helping, throwing more money at it for now won't take us where we want to be. Generally Nigeria needs a overhauling, too many things hinged at the center for a massive country of over 200mill people and hundreds of ethnic groups with different religion and it's not favourable, unfortunately those enjoying from the fraudulent arrangement are ready to spill blood so it remains status quo. What we need is more regional governance. However some powerful individuals would not allow this because they can't get free money again. |

Blackking98: I think States like Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Delta and Bayelsa wouldn't have light problems if every state produces and uses 100% of the power it produces because even if udom builds ten gas stations now he'll have to send the power first to national grid then they cut small and send it back to Akwa Ibom, but unfortunately whether north east south or west everybody must first send to National grid and then States that produce next to nothing in the power sector drag everybody behind plus the corruption and infrastructure issues plaguing the power sector in Nigeria will make power sufficiency a mirage for now. That is a great point I didn't consider before. This arrangement makes it harder for states to develop organically because some states are acting as economic and infrastructural life supports for others. |

Kinematics: Thinking of hydro in a state with abundant gas? Well gas isn't free or immune to market manipulation. If they had another source of power which does not require the additional infrastructure that extraction and distribution of gas does they could save money and export the gas for profit. Although these are all things that could happen not exactly will happen. Someone more qualified than I am would have to plan it out. |

dalongjnr: Reactionary government. Our national intelligence agencies are not thinking at all. It's high time they start thinking as criminals,so as to think ahead of them. Imagined a government that came with the promise of fixing security talking as if it's now they are aware of the banditry, armed robbery and herdsmen attack going in the country. Last year alone over 2000 people were killed in zamfara and plateau state along. In plateau state, we know and the army formation in barkin ladi know were the terrorist, herdsmen (unknown gunmen),armed robbers, land grabbers, bandits or whatever they are called. Dafo, tanti, kura, and surrounding villages are still under sieges by these heartless and soulless beast and shehu is talking as if,it's something new? People were killed in mangu LGC in three separate attacks all in plateau state! In fact, do we even have air force? Is it allowed for government to bomb bandits from their hideouts? It's time to end this nonsense or we will be left with no option but to buy weapons to protect ourselves and our people and Dame the consequences. Plateau, katsina, yobe, benue, kogi, borno and zamfara state have been in the news for the wrong reasons and it's time to change the narrative. The intelligence agencies are functioning well and working hard. However they are more focused on arresting journalists and people using the same phone number as the President's daughter. Herdsmen attacks and general sectarian violence is not their priority. |

Blackking98: you're still wrong oga. Outside Kano (which I believe their population is bloated on paper) which other Nigerian state can compare to Lagos in terms of population? River's, kaduna and other thick states still have relatively small population to Lagos. So your parameter for comparing Akwa iboms population to Lagos is just weird considering Lagos is over 50 years old and Akwa Ibom was created 1987. 15th most populous state out of 36 states and fct is not relatively small sir. It means a state state that is 30th is relatively non existent According to you. Ok |
