My birds are still laying. As for restocking, I want to wait to know whether this bird flu thing will spoil market. I also experience small egg sizes but I don't know whether it's from farmsupport or myself. They once suffered from heat stress, mycoplasma G. and when feed was scarce, we have to feed a little bit less. Change is constant, so there is nothing wrong with testing other hatcheries, but I think all birds have the genetic capacity to lay larger eggs if you manage them well. The problem sometimes may be from we farmers.

See how you look down on modesty here. They can be sized like that. For example, 1000 dairy cows is equivalent to about 250kw. These are cows fed very well with corn silage etc.

No, we said dont vaccinate sick birds or birds that appear sick. Treat them first and when they are healthy, vaccinate. In hot weather, vaccination failure is very common. Find a way of minimizing the effect by following the link I shared above. If you do that your vaccinations will likely succeed. There are also tests that can help you determine if vaccination was successful or not. It's called serological test. You do the test before vaccination and repeat it 3-4 weeks after vaccination. The result will tell you if vaccination was successful or not. That way u can avoid huge loses like the poster above. But in nigeria animal labs seem to be scarce or costly and small holders may not afford it. Those signs means sickness is somewhere. If there is a lab nearby, go for lab test, else you can give them antibiotics like tylodox with multivits. Don't vaccinate in that condition.

How old are they? Komorov injection is usually given at week 9 after lasota have been given several times. If u give komorov before lasota, many birds will likely fall sick. Most vaccinations should be done before laying starts.

House. What are the pros & cons of administering Komorov injectible vaccine as against Lasota Oral vaccine on birds in lay? Won't the stress be too much to the point of affecting laying performance in the long term? The oral vaccine appears to be less potent cos of the heat stress. Opinions, please

For complete protection against NCD, you must give lasota several times at first and then inject with komorov. It's a must. If you have had bad experience with injecting komorov before, it is due to some other reasons you don't know about. Injectable vaccines are effective only after the oral ones has been given.

I will advise you to go for lab test since it is impossible to tell what is wrong in this case. The lab test will also tell you the best antibiotic to use because some bacteria are now becoming resistant to some antibiotics. That's why if you give some antibiotics the birds won't respond to it.
