Wow it's hot in here! Good thing I finally have some Updates from my practical experience. My total yield was about 13.5 tons giving about 1.9 tons per hectare. This is way below the mark of 3 tons per hectare I expected.

There are a few reasons I identified for this. Some of the corn was eaten by pests, some were stolen and few plants did not produce healthy cobs.

As for the conversions and standard yields, I finally have a grip of it. The following are Given facts:
1. one acre is 0.404 hectares.
2. 1 hectare will contain 2.47 times the maize in one acre if planted uniformly.
3. Maize yield can range from as low as less than 1 ton per hectare in Africa to over 20 tons per hectare in some parts of USA. On the average, Chile / USA produce at about 11 tons/ha, with Nigeria at 2tons/ha.
4. In terms of ears of corn per hectare, a representative figure is difficult to mention but a yield of 75,000 ears per hectare can be considered as excellent production in the leading countries.

I am happy to have my own experience and willing to learn more. It is quite clear that making an investment decision based on balloon internet figures can ruin you.

It's simple. The bible will guide us on what God like and what He hate. When a lady dress to reveal her shape and curves or her unclothedness, the world tag it good looking. However the feeding cost will throw me out of budget. I was looking at commercial brand of feed vs locally milled feed and I still don't get it. I will advise you start with 500 and budget 1k to cover feeding, vaccinatn, debeaking etc.

It's 125g not .125g. I later reduce it though. There was a time they'll consume the normal quantity and will still be crying for more.

lincomycin, tiamulin, tylosin, enrofloxacin. I wish you have done antibiotic sensitivity test before. It tells you which antibiotic will be effective.

It is likely to be newcastle disease. Tell him to treat them with an antibiotic like tylodox plus multivit, 3 days after he should give lasota vaccine.

6 CBM tarpaulin can accumulate up to 3cmb gas daily after fermentation of the organic subastabce use

The basic is to enclose organic matter to exclude air. Then you tap the gas produced and have an inlet and outlet.

I had dt apart fromthe listed crops, yam is big busines in Anam. A lady told me she did combined farming with a poor villager. She made double the amount she invested. The profit was shared equally, dt means d return was abt 200 percent.

You have to watch out for carbon-nitrogen ratio, else you will be disappointed. Using only chicken manure which have very low c/n ratio will not work, what you'll likely get in ammonia smell. C/n ratio shud be 20-30. You can adjust it by combining one material with low c/n ratio and another one with high c/n ratio, eg chicken manure and rice hull, etc. The calculation can be found in the link above.

Do you mean Amin'total? One way to increase egg production is by giving them extra light at night. Switch on at 6pm and off at 10pm. But increase it gradually.

Go for lab test bc that's better. Go with a dead bird and some sick birds. If you can't, try giving conflox and tylodox. I once had a similar experience.

@Mercilicious you have a GREAT plan there and I too have a similar plan. There is nothing as good as having everything in one place and going for cheaper but effective solutions like the earthen pond you talked about. Keep me close because I'll freely and happily help you in anyway I can. @Judithume, depending on where you live you can place your cage in front of your house and sell from there, or you can go to a market and contact those that buy old layers in bulk. In Onitsha you can find them at newparts market, I don't know about Nnewi but you can ask around.
