ElsonMorali: While I agree that the man should man up and do whatever it takes to make the life of his woman a lot easier, which includes making dinner once a while, bathing the kids, changing their diapers (ewwww), rubbing her back and giving her a massage, generally treating her likehis queen that she is, yet I think we all know why men are reluctant to do these things.
You cook once, next thing she's gonna draw up a roaster of some sort sharing kitchen duties with you equally. And when you don't do it she gets miffed.
I'm not married, but from my interaction with married friends, that's the idea I got from them.
You bathe the baby once, then it becomes your life long duty and she'd be pissed at you if you fail at it.
Thank God we don't have breasts. We may end up sharing breastfeeding duty too. . |

pocohantas: I don't know who is getting the definition of feminism wrong, but from my own understanding it simply means, treat me first as human, don't stereotype me because of my sex, give me a chance to prove myself.
Feminism didn't ask any woman to neglect her home o... Some people are equating feminism to arrogance, probably because of the kinda feminist they have seen or their understanding of feminism...which is wrong. Feminists can have happy homes contrary to popular belief.
Any woman that does any of those things you mentioned is simply a bad example of a wife. She could be a feminist or not. There are women in the village who know nothing about feminism putting up worse attitude. It's all in the mind. I get your point |

joseph1832ng: Some things like what and what? So many things, I'm not an advocate of feminism when it comes to family.Like women not cooking for their husbands and taking care of their house like they should. They take these things too serious and it ends up affecting their marriage attimes.Doing these things doesn't make you look like a slave,it's only bad when he doesn't appreciate it.For me,I'd rather both parties retain their position in the family setting but respect each other.I remain the wife, and he remains the husband and breadwinner;two heads can't rule a family equally. What I can't take is you disrespecting me in anyway. I come back late at times from work or I'm very tired when he's at home ,nothing wrong with him going into the kitchen to cook something for us.I need to tidy up the place or do the dishes, instead of him watching the television,he can help me out...and we do everything together while talking about how our day was. He's in a financially tight situation,I help him with what I can for the family.I think it's all about understanding though some men can be difficult. Funny thing is some women who seem to support the equality thing , don't think it should be an 'equality' thing when it comes to providing for the family. I don't know whether I'm the one who got the equality thing wrong or them. |

But the truth is some women are taking the feminism thing too far....I don't support oppressing women at all,and I believe a woman should know and stand up for her rights....but some things being done in the name of feminism don't make sense at all. |

mytym: Started at 15, unlike my mates who started by sneak-driving, my father practically forced me to learn it as it was obvious i was disinterested. Took me 12 years...still not perfect coz driving is about consistency. As a learner, after learning a stage I could go months before getting back on the steering. Infact one of my D.License for 3 yrs got expired without setting hands on a steering. Meanwhile its manual transmission...the hard brands...Volkswagen. Volvo, old regular Mercedes
Just got my hands on autofor the first tym lastmonth....menh its damn too easy, its wah dey call 'teach yourself' kind of thing. Exactly consistency...same problem here. But,I've learnt for only 6 years;left home some months after so haven't been very consistent .Even people that I used to correct when they started, drive much better than I do now. |

herbie27: My sister's.
She was 12, went on holiday in my Aunt's house, she was never seen at home in the afternoon cos of her job, so my sis had the house to herself.
It started, she had no idea as it drops then take time before appearing fully, she was on the stain and had no idea, my aunt came back and saw it, before then a neighbour of theirs has gone to tell my aunt that my sis has been deflowered, lol my aunt didn't ask my sis anything she just started flogging her, and while she was flogging her she kept asking the innocent girl who she slept with?.
The girl had no idea of what my aunt was accusing her of and kept saying no one as my aunt was wiping her.
After much strokes, she called home(my mum) and told her my sister has been deflowered and has refused to talk.
My mum was just wondering how that could happen as she knew her daughter, so she asked her to put the girl on the phone which she did, she was crying as my mum asked her what happened, the moment she explained we all screamed it's her period!.
That was a relief to my mum, and she bashed my aunt who said a neighbour told her.
My sis will never forget the experience, as i won't too...hers was hilarious.
My advice to those who have girl siblings, make out time to educate them on this, won't blame my mum cos she wasn't expecting it at the time we did. Did she apologize to your sister after that ? What about the neighbor?lol, your sister still goes to her place for vacation?I'm so curious |

Not a big deal if he trusts her.I don't even understand this their situation sha but I've friends who changed their sim after marriage (some did it personally) because they usually get a lot of phone calls, attimes mostly from the opposite sex. He said she gets called almost 5-5 minutes, though I'm sure it's an exaggeration but it can be really annoying...just sitting with your wife and she keeps getting calls (maybe even irrelevantly) from the opposite sex;even you as a woman wouldn't like that if your husband was to be receiving calls from the opposite sex like that, not because you don't trust him ..you're just being jealous. If I'm to be in that situation,I'll change my sim even before he does.
We always attribute almost everything to trust;him feeling uncomfortable doesn't mean he doesn't trust his wife,he maybe just doesn't like it.I wouldn't either...I can't stand my husband receiving too much calls from ladies. Infact even if it isn't from the opposite sex,it's just not proper for you to keep being on the phone when we're together. Some people make too much phone calls,at the wrong and right times.Same thing with social media. |

freecocoa: Yeah, lies in general are a turn off but I do believe some can be overlooked though, after all, we are guilty of one lie or the other.
If I may ask, what would it change if you were older than he, assuming everything is going well? Everything o ...I just can't see myself with a younger man,I can't.I think if we have kids sef,I'll have to be on anti-depressants because it'll so hard for me to come to terms with the fact that I put to birth for someone younger.Lol It's that bad,the mind can be very wicked,I know I'm taking it too far;even my friends keep saying it's not as bad as I think it is.But I'm just so into the age matter ,atleast the man should always be older, even if it's just a day. |

Lol,now that I've read the mistress story, the situation isn't even that bad. You're no saint either,I thought you were being the best you can to her.If she really lied about her age,you should think of how you cheated or still cheat on her too;very very bad.Sort it out,and you both work on your shortcomings. |

pjsmart: My own advice is this: why not believe her first, instead of just jumping into conclusion of what happened. Really it's painful to know that the one u trusted the most has been receiving u, so in order to have your peace deliberately choose to believe her then do your investigations. I know someone born in 1997 but her waec certificate says 1993. it's actually a cousin so I know her age from childhood. so it happens. but to be sure check when she wrote the waec and her new date of birth, u don't write waec at age 12 Very mature advice, doubts should always be completely cleared before running into conclusions.I like the way you think |
Family › Re: I Discovered My Wife Lied About Her Age After 3 Years Of Our Marriage. Help! by Feanah(f): 5:29am On Oct 04, 2016 |
freecocoa: Well, I don't know how old you are now and what you've achieved, assuming you set goals for yourself using time frame.
You see, there's this need to grow with others, do things while your mates are doing it and believe me my sister, if you are lagging behind then it wouldn't be a surprise to reduce your age, hoping to give yourself more time, the society comes in because they judge you by some yardstick and age is an essential, if not the most important one they use.
So far, I've not reduced my age but who knows tomorrow?
Although, I do think one shouldn't lie to their partner but there are some lies that you just can't take back, especially if they've been there before you met him/her.
My solution for this is, if you see a person you like, no need to ask their age, just love yourselves, with the exception of women who have hit menopause o(incase he wants kids), this way, even if you find out she's older, it wouldn't matter. I get you sister.I no dey like that age reduction matter , better to keep it to yourself than tell a lie. There's something about lies,no matter how little they're,they make people lose respect for you .Ah that age matter dey very very important for people that think 'traditionally' like me o Because,Asuming I find out I'm older than my husband even if it's just with one day,I guess that's the end for us....because I just find it very awkward to marry a guy younger Even if he isn't younger,I need to know his exact age,I'm the last person he's meant to lie to on earth, especially about something basic like this . |

freecocoa: Is there not a chance that she might actually be telling the truth about it being an error?
But let's assume she lied, I think you should try to forgive her, this age matter no be really the women fault per se, na society cause am, lying about her age doesn't automatically make her untrustworthy.
OP forgive and forget, one is only as old as they feel. Lol,what do you mean society caused it? I've never found it ok to lie about my age and people who do , surprise me. |
