to be honest we are the losers,we are not developing --actually we are retrogressing at an alarming rate.

but to the point of the thread.

fashola won both rounds --isn't it amazing that dullard goje couldn't respond to fash...

the house of disassembly is just a house full of maggots and poohh...they really need to be given the samuel doe treatment one by one
PoliticsRe: People's Houses Flooded In Lekki After This Morning Rain (Photos) by Felixv: 4:33pm On Jul 08, 2017
this is the state all over lagos --but lekki should have been planned properly.I remember driving to chevy estate last year and having to get out of the car as I approached the gate to the estate, and walk to my destination because of the terrible floods--actually because of the terrible drainage system.
PoliticsRe: Fashola Replies Goje: "You Need Behavioural Guidance On Parliament" by Felixv: 5:07pm On Jul 07, 2017
comos:
what project is fashola talkig about, N50bn was appropriated to him for the second Niger bridge but out of hatred for igbos he did not spent a kobo from that amount, instead he choose to return everything to government coffer at the end of the fiscal year
seriously!!

I couldn't help but reply to your comment.

Have you taken the time to review the dialogue between Fashola and NASS as regards to the second Niger bridge.

Have you tried to understand the basic difference between budget and cash --this has been explained in the reply to the NASS.

the information below is culled from https://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2017/07/05/fashola-vs-nass/ ---there is still a lot more detail on the internet.

Similarly, Fashola has addressed the issue of the Second Niger Bridge. What really happened was that there was no design for the link road to the bridge on both sides – the Asaba and Onitsha ends.

That was just recently approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC). Also, there were issues of right of way and compensation to communities which is being handled by the governors of Delta and Ananmbra States.

Therefore, the piling that has so far been done on the bridge was just to give a semblance of activity on the bridge. Even at that, no money had been released by the Finance Ministry, meaning that none was returned as insinuated by the NASS.

------------
I am not interested in continuous dialogue, but had to write this,I guess the era of serious intellectual dialogue has forever been eradicated from nigerian forums --this has been replaced with the useless 'celebrity crap', and gossip that is normally found on the covers of cheap tabloid newspapers.
PoliticsRe: Senator Danjuma Goje To Fashola: Resign If The Work Is Overwhelming by Felixv: 3:51am On Jul 07, 2017
The 100b naira wastage we have to endure.

It really is a pity that Nigerians find it hard to voice their anger at these dishonorable members of assembly. Many of those guys have corruption charges over their heads, hardly make any contribution to this country and as Prof Sagay noted ---many are of dubious character.

In any sane society SAN Fashola would be applauded for the sheer determination he goes about his Job. He is trying to bring some semblance of sanity to this country, but I guess in this country we are wont to praise the loudest buffoons known to mankind.

Some of the commentators in this thread remind me of those guys who can't stand the idea of someone being the 'best'. Lagos is the best state in this inglorious federation and Fashola was the man who made it so..

Please legislooters let's have this meeting in public -allow the cameras into your dirty chambers so we hear the SAN lecture the semi-illiterate members of assembly --I guess we would probably watch these comedians act like spoilt brats --shouting at the top of their voices and throwing tantrums -but as a true omo isale eko,Fash would probably smile and wonder how we ever got to this level of insanity.

I want bridges, power plants,it would be a great day when we would be able to drive from lagos to ibadan like I normally drive from philly to ny.

PoliticsRe: Ten Things We Learnt From The 2017 National Assembly Budget By @budgit by Felixv: 9:50pm On May 30, 2017
we really should focus on one issue at a time -the national assembly budget of 125Bn which is more than the budget of many states.
Many of these states have huge populations and yet their budget is small when compared to that of the national assembly.

Imagine delta state (an oil producing state)having a budget of 270.910bn with a population of about 4m.
The national assembly has a population of less than 400 people (the aides are serving these people).

https://guardian.ng/politics/national-assembly-jumbo-allocation-and-lawmaking/

reading definitely makes for hard reading -and you wonder how this country would ever develop.

PoliticsRe: FACT-CHECK: Senate Confirmation: How SSS Lied Against EFCC Boss, Magu by Felixv: 6:25pm On Dec 17, 2016
so where do people expect Magu to live -in a one bedroom room in an abuja ghetto,so his enemies can go an kill him.Or is he expected to fly third class.

The so called senators would not release the details of their 115bn naira budget, they refused to detail how they are spending our hard earned money.Go on recess at every drop of a bucket -actually it is hard to quantify their value in terms of productivity. These maggots were so bold to even state that they passed a measly 18 bills in 4 months.

The only reason Magu was not confirmed was because for once, the senators would be compelled to explain to the Nigerian people how they managed to blow 115bn in one year -they know that is coming, they know there asses would be exposed.

http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/200232-exclusive-inside-national-assemblys-n115-billion-budget-2016-house-reps-gets-biggest-share.html

but it is really sad that we have to live with the likes of saraki -a crook who is facing corruption charges. In any sane society he would have been expelled from the national assembly and locked up in a prison,

http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/191783-exclusive-inside-the-n10billion-assets-saraki-declared-as-governor.html

Magu is adding at least 500bn naira to the federal budget --from the loot recovered from gej's boys and more is to come.
PoliticsRe: Money Recovered From DSS Raid On Judges Revealed by Felixv: 3:41am On Oct 09, 2016
The arrests occurred in the early hours of the morning of Saturday, 8th October 2016. Search warrants were reportedly procured for the search of the premises of some, but not all the Judges/Justices whose homes were invaded.

this is a good development in my opinion -how can we forget odilli so quickly, and many of his ilk who used the corrupt judges to frustrate their corrupt cases. The judiciary should be above corruption -although that is a pipe dream, because even the west some judges have been known to be corrupt.

Let's also not forget that the SSS is an agency of the federal government and very powerful -they are really supposed to be doing the job of the EFCC if not for politics..

The next step should be the NAS which we all know is a bastion of corruption.

BusinessRe: The Typical Nigerian Attitude To Foreign Goods And The Dollar Slide. by Felixv: 10:35pm On Sep 25, 2016
I did actually try to stick to Nigerian brewed 'drinks' on my recent trip home, and it worked most of the time, as I was happy to down a couple of bottles of star many nights (@1200 a bottle I actually thought it was over-priced),mind you, one establishment even charged 2500 for the drink.
Now come friday night at the place in GRA Ikeja -no star.
Apparently they only sold bottles of whisky, vodka, cognac, moet, etc -I politely asked the bartender, if they, by any chance sold the made in nigeria star, all I got was the cold shoulder.

I looked around me, and noticed that on each table were bottles of ciroc, hennessey, moet -not once did I notice a Nigerian brewed drink.

So,lets forget the fancy shoes, jeans, hairdo (Brazilian or Japanese for our beloved sisters),tv,computer, smartphones, suits, cars, bikes and the list goes on and on.....Someone should tell those morons who run bars, lounges etc that every country on earth promotes their own brew.

I was at this airport only yesterday, after my two week visit to lagos to finish off my house -what is there to say about this airport that would bring a smile to one's face -absolutely nothing-ok,am being mean here -the Lufthansa executive lounge was nice -free booze and food.

It would be great idea to handover the airport to the chinese or another group of people, other than Nigerians. It just seems we are incapable of managing anything.

This man was the worse president naija ever had, sad, am sure his apologists would start mentioning things like the biggest economy in african--one that cannot produce electricity,no functioning refinery, terrible schools ...wow...no roads --and the list goes on and on.

'i know there are many malls in china. i also know there is more poverty in China than in Nigeria
anyway everyone can't build factories. '

these are the kind of statements that really bother me, I am actually in Shanghai at the moment, and believe you me, it would take naija a million years to get to the level of this city.sure maybe there is a level of poverty, but there is an extremely high level of affluence and the citizens here have jobs, westerners come here looking for work, the security here is unreal for a city of over 30M.Crime is extemely rare.5 star hotels cost only about 200 dollars a night, and these are hotels that do not exist in our centre of excellence,

now to the matter at hand.
a foreigner comes to naija and opens a mall, ummm, why cant that same foreigner come to naija and build a factory.you see the irony of the situation is that you are being bled of the little money you have.

no nation develops without being productive.

EducationRe: What Is The Relevance Of A University Degree To A Nigerian Youth by Felixv: 7:35pm On Aug 18, 2011
I guess we have to be clear about what 'make it in life means' I guess to the average Nigerian that means money, well,if that is the case then a university education is not really necessary. But to make it in the real world,to add value to your society,to take Nigeria to the next level then a university degree  is highly relevant.Every nation that aspires to develop needs well educated people.Unfortunately lately the education system in Nigeria has been rubbished we do not have the schools to produce the kind of brains that china,Japan, india and other countries are producing.

PoliticsPhoto Of Bag-carrying Ambassador Charms China >>good Leaders Lead By Example by Felixv(op): 5:13pm On Aug 17, 2011
http://news.yahoo.com/photo-bag-carrying-ambassador-charms-china-184349082.html

just an amazing story.but again this is the norm here.Just cant imagine a Nigerian ambassador doing this, Good leaders certainly do lead by example,

, SEATTLE (AP) — A photo of the new U.S. ambassador to China carrying his own backpack and ordering his own coffee at an airport has charmed Chinese citizens not used to such frugality from their officials.

ZhaoHui Tang, a businessman from Bellevue, Washington, snapped the photo Friday on his iPhone when he spotted Gary Locke at the counter of an airport Starbucks. Locke is the first Chinese-American ambassador to China and a former governor of Washington state.

Tang uploaded the photo to the Chinese social media network Sina Weibo because he thought it was cool to run into the new ambassador at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

He didn't expect it to generate 40,000 reposts and thousands of comments.

"This is something unbelievable in China," said Tang, a Chinese-American citizen. "Even for low-ranking officials, we don't do things for ourselves. Someone goes to buy the coffee for them. Someone carries their bags for them."

Locke tried to use a coupon or voucher for the coffee, but the barista rejected it, Tang said. The ambassador then paid with a credit card, he said.

Tang, chief executive of an Internet advertising firm called adSage, was flying from Seattle to Silicon Valley. Locke was leaving for China from the next gate over.

Tang introduced himself to Locke when he took the picture and wished him luck in the new job.

C oF O doesnt seem to be a requirement anymore, besides i was actually talking about a block of 3 bedroom flats, lol

Securing approvals for building plans will now be faster in Lagos State, as the state government has announced the decentralisation of the process.
The announcement was made during a press briefing on the outcome of the three-day quarterly retreat of the state executive council which held at the Eko Tourist Resort during the weekend.
According to the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Opeyemi Bamidele, building approvals for bungalow and one-storey buildings will be made by the general manager of the Lagos Physical Planning Development Authority, while plans for two to three storey and four to five storey buildings will be approved, respectively, by the permanent secretary and the commissioner for the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development. Approvals for seven-floor buildings and above will be made by the governor, Babatunde Fashola.
A few other bottlenecks that characterise issuance of building approval plans have also been removed. The demand for the payment of N50,000 and the tendering of title deeds as a condition for getting planning information has been eradicated. From now on, “all information concerning building plans will be made available online”, the commissioner said.
The Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development has now been saddled with the responsibility of processing building plan approvals based on evidence of full payment, pending provision of actual title document.
Should final approval for a building plan exceed the statutory three months, Mr. Bamidele said the office of an ombudsman has been created to receive complaints from building plan approval applicants.
He said two mobile phone lines – 07059629744 and 07059629745 – have been dedicated to receive such complaints.

the funny thing is that the numbers do not work,

PropertiesRe: How To Buy A Lagos State Government Residential Housing Scheme. Dos And Donts by Felixv: 3:16pm On Nov 19, 2010
the problem i have encountered in the past with government land is that it is never sold are the original (advertised) price, the people working in those offices claim the land for themselves and then sell at exhorbitant prices to the general public. This is common in lagos and ogun state.I have tried buying farm land in lagos and i was asked to produce double the advertised priced. The isheri north land was being sold by the very ogun state government official who approves the land allocation. And she was asking for 7.5 million when the document she produced actually shows that she didnt pay a penny for the land. She was actually supposed to pay 500k but applied and received a waiver (guess who approved the waiver). And if you do get the land at the advertised price ensure you know someone who works there or be prepared to be part of the lottery playing crowd, your chances are the same as gambling.

thanks
