Please look at the bigger picture also; is the Nigerian economy good? if the National economy is bad, it will tell on the economy of the south west, why do you think lagos state is over populated and bursting at the seams, and it appears things are slow to work there despite all the efforts of its administrators? Its simply due to the bad economy policies of the National govt. We Yorubas have realized this fact and we now look at the bigger picture. I pray the Gubernatorial elections are free and fair, you will see bigger shocks by then
.

It’s about time we decongested Lagos - the Lagos Ibadan train line go along way in solving that problem.

With good policies from the centre lagos continue to prosper

Defend for where. They won’t even let you buy land there.

I see a lot of dirty markets closing in Lagos. EFCC raiding lekki and the tax man focusing on VI and Ikoyi.

Your pessimism is not shared here. Thailand did not attain rice exporter overnight. But forget about rice exportation for now. If we can get enough local production to more than feed the populace, that is a very good place to start.

There are a lot of people like him in this country - they sit in their rented apartments looking for white collar jobs. Drinking imported whiskey and partying all weekend

Thailand and China have built massive industries based on the exportation of rice - the rice sent to Nigeria is stockpiled rice, it has been left in warehouses for years.

The whole of the NE area of Thailand is geared toward rice products

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rice_production_in_Thailand

If we have a serious government we might attain self sufficiency, but we need a dedicated populace as well. A people who are prepared to toil the land instead of wishing to live a western style lifestyle in a third world country

You know, I have been thinking about this? Who are those against Buhari? The looting network of Nigeria (comprising politicians, bankers, contractors, lawyers etc.), Importers of fake products (aka our Igbo brothers), foreigners who want to continue to use Nigeria as a dumping ground for their products etc. Buhari is drying the pipeline of looting, he is encouraging local production of foods and other commodities - so our SE neighbors can no longer import plastic rice and other fake products.

The end of saraki
The end of athithief has been forewarned.

Today is deliverance day

Sai Buhari

Good railways. Good roads and death to looters.

We can clearly see where our money is going. And sooner rather than later we would learn how to maintain these equipments.

If people had taken time to study the rail project they would have noticed that they also built a Yard,

this is not only for maintaining the rolling stock but it also serves as a training center.

These are the type of skills needed to help us move to the next level - when we start manufacturing our own stock.

Rule of law must prevail. Yes is terrible to snatch ballot box but you can't just shoot someone instantly; is unacceptable. This is democracy for crying out loud.
That's why I love US. You can decide to rob a bank in US. Even before undertaken that venture you must have known what your jail term will be if caught. No one will kill you. After the jail term you are free. But in Nigeria, anything can happen. This is a zoo actually.

You seem to have ignored the fact that the US has one of the highest incidence of murder in the world.

Rob a bank in the states with a gun and you would most likely be shot.

If church universities are to be free? How would they hire the best professors? How will the research be done? when the government have failed and the country is in hyperinflation....una come the face Chruch universities. @OP you are Sick!

I have friends who send their kids to church colleges and guess what - they get huge discounts if they convert to the church’s denomination.

An example is a catholic college in PA that my friend sends his kids too. Once he became a catholic the school fees dropped dramatically.

So I expect the same here - most of those universities were built using church members donations, even the maintenance of those universities is carried out using donations plus the fees paid by students.

I will be surprised if these is no discount at all for registered church members - at least for the long term members.

Until Nigeria is restructured , nothing looks bright ...roads alone will never unleash the potential of this country neither will continuously meeting in Abuja to discuss sharing formula do it ... Economic and political restructuring holds the key unfortunately, Buhari not having the sense to receive this wisdom believes he is doing the north good by holding on to a collapsing arrangement

The problem is governors who refused to invest in their own states, but instead use the resources meant for the people for their personal benefit.

How can restructuring solve that.

Which state in the whole of the delta region can boast of substantial development inspite of the resources allocated to them.

Until we have leaders who can focus on developing the country we are headed no where

This is not new. A phenomenon that was common during OBJ’s era.

If we don’t invest in our infrastructure there would never be jobs.

If there is no power who would invest in hi- tech jobs that would bring dignity to our people.

Politics / Re: Delta State Infrastructure Vs Kano State by Felixv: 3:34pm On Feb 13, 2019
It really is a big shame that the ND governors and representatives have failed to contribute to the development of their states.

Considering the resources at their disposal you would expect those states to be well developed ,and their indigenes to be comfortable but instead they are the ones trooping over to Italy and other countries in search of greener pastures.

I remember when Ibori was charged with fraud and he was never convicted in Nigeria. Same with igbinedion and odilli.

It is obvious that restructuring is not the problem - it is corruption.

Politics / Re: Nigeria's Economy Attracted $16.8bn Investment Inflow In 2018 – NBS by Felixv: 2:45pm On Feb 13, 2019
lugado:

Multiplier effect of corruption

1. A young man works for one of the state ministries. He salary is 120K. He makes 15,000 everyday on this desk (N75k a week) engaging in corrupt practices. As a result, he spends the daily cash as he cares. Living large and far above his legitimate income.

2. He visits the local joint every evening and buys drinks for friends, and area boys. They hail him. He is married, but has two girlfriends. His "income" is enough to take care of them. The Asun seller at his favorite joint is happy, the joint owner is happy.

3. Everyone was benefiting from his "income". Friends, family, area boys, joint owner, Asun seller, girlfriends, wife and his church. Life was good.

4. Then suddenly the ministry implemented the Treasury Single Account (TSA) at the beginning of PMB administration. His extra "income" disappeared and he had to adjust to the reality of event and live within his real income. That wasn't easy.

5. Initially he reduced his daily visit to the joint to 3 days a week and stopped buying drinks for everyone. He reduced he plates of Asun. The Asun seller started to find it hard to sell a full goat each day and resorted to buy half.

6. The young man's girlfriends started to feel the heat too. No more iPhone 10. The joint owner noticed a drop in sales. The young man finally stopped visiting the joint after a month. The area boys started feeling his absence. The effect cascaded down.

7. The young man started spending more time at home with his wife and kids. The family had to readjust to the reality of the new normal. His hair stylist noticed the young man suddenly stopped tipping. He will even wait for his N200 change after haircut.

8. Things are different. Times are hard, they all cry. The young man is blaming Buhari, his wife is blaming Buhari, the area boys are blaming Buhari, the girlfriends are saying Buhari must go, the joint owner is saying Buhari killed the "economy"

9. The Asun seller is cursing Buhari, the hair stylist is insisting Buhari is too old to rule. This is the story of our nation where corruption fuels the "economy". Those who are not engaging in it are benefiting from it.

10. This tread is not about Buhari's achievement or failure, but rather about the "multiplier" effect of corruption and how we have built a system largely driven by corruption. It's about policy implication (good or bad). It's about the choices we have made.

Finally, the young man had to withdraw his kids from what he called expensive primary school his kids attend. He added:"what are they teaching them there sef " Obasanjo didn't go to a private school. I just laughed

The nightclub owners are cursing buhari so are the importers of designer shoes and perfumes.

Cascading effect of an honest economy based on Hard work

No be voodoo economics
