London

or is that london , osapa london, I think you are trying to be funny.or just being rather smart.

1st class degree, ok,, congrats.i really dont want to get into any long discussion over these trash bins.because its a no brainer.
we are the laughing stock of the world.in fact as i mentioned earlier we are now waiting for the annoucement of the importation of the 'great bin man' from east london to help our local bin men.

lol

@labiyemmy

a lot of guys here are trying to point out the obvious, we do not,and should not  be importing waste bins, there is too much poverty in the land.nothing is working. They wanted more jets, our president is currently in the US with over 100 people on a day trip to the UN.

The government continues to waste money on items that add no value to our system and unless you live here, you cant understand.1B would go along way in terms of soft loans for our unemployed graduates. One of my nephews just finished his youth service and guess what, no work.A second class graduate in engineering.yet the only thing our great decision making body (FEC) can propose is to import trash bins from the UK.

Guy, if its tongue in cheek humor, its not funny.Just accept the fact that Nigeria is a mess.down here decisions are only made to benefit the decision maker,in fact i will not be surprised if mrs sambo imported the bins herself on behalf of her husband.

the bottomline is that FEC should be thinking about how to better the lot of nigerians and not their own pockets,

thanks
PoliticsRe: Fec Approves N927m ($6.5m) For Fct Waste Bins by Felixv: 6:59pm On Sep 23, 2010
@labiyemmy

the point you are missing is that with 1B naira, many more jobs could be created, there are local companies in nigeria would could benefit from that.they could be encourage to produce the bins.and i am sure they could do the job, maybe not as efficiently as the british bins.but nonetheless they could have been useful.

by importing the bins money would be leaving the country, which we can ill afford at this moment and again the bins have been overpriced.Abuja is not london.abuja does not add a cent to the national treasury whereas london adds millions to the british economy.

thanks

i guess the next contract would be to  import a 'bin man'  from east london to help train the locals.Obviously the bin man would be lodged at the hilton nuga hotel and given a huge salary,

what a bunch of fools, and this man wants to rule us for 4 more years,

I really blame some of the parents, the wise ones send their kids to better schools while some employ private tutors. But unfortunately most dont bother, they spend less on their kids, they dont even go through the kids books to get acquanted with what their kids are doing in school.
The education system in nigeria is a shambles,it is really a mess.I had the opportunity to sit down with one of my nephews who attends one of the local schools in surulere. What i saw, what i read was incredible.i had to pay for a private lession centre for the kid,but still he couldnt pass his exams. His parents on the other hand felt i was too hard on the kid. This guy failed english and maths and could only pass agric science yet he wants to study chemical engineering, imagine , even his attitude is poor.

he is in ss2,so next year he will be taking the weac exams or what ever exams they actually do now.Does he stand a chance, well, there is no need to seek a soothsayer here,he is pretty much doomed. But if his parents had been wise they would have been encouraging me, instead they sit of their asses and watch their own child drown in his own ineptitude. My kids are doing very well, because i spend the time with them and obviously i am very tough with them, whether we accept this or not, education is key,it gives one the chance to get a better life.We cant all be politicians or contractors, some of us have to sweat for a living.

'About 10yrs ago Okun Ajah was selling for N50,000-N80,000K.Same 10 yrs ago a plot of land at Badore in Ajah,Off Cooperative Villa, was going for between 250-300k. Today a plot of Land at Badore(i.e within the gazette) is going for between N5million to N7million. Note there is a lagoon front at the end of Badore.

this is definitely not true,i just bought a plot of land at seaside estate in badore and it only cost me 2.5M, Another guy in the same estate had 3 plots to sell and he was insisting on 3M.He called me a couple of days begging me to buy them off him for 2.5M per plot. All checks were performed, mine had a GC and it was verified at alausa,

The water level is a real issue, you only need to read the latest warning from the lagos state government,

people can really negotiate now and get better deals, you just have to bargain hard.

PropertiesRe: Land In Ibadan by Felixv: 2:47pm On Aug 10, 2010
this is a nice discussion.i bought 4 plots of land at elebu about 3yrs ago for 350k per plot, now the land is going for about 900k, it is a nice area to live in ,a lot of the people who were renting in oloyole phase one actually bought land there also. The private schools in ibadan compare well with most of the private schools in lagos but at a relatively cheaper price,

my opinion is that for someone who wants to raise their kids in a civil peaceful environment then elebu is a good choice, there is also a link road to the toll gate.albeit half completed. This was the road oga jonathan came to open.pity he didnt bother seeing the whole road.

in terms of class of people,it is purely middle class and a sprinkle of omonile villagers.and a lot of returnees for europe and the us, a lot of the P&G guys also live there well, they also have a landlords association which i call a gathering of like minds.

thanks

Car TalkRe: Honda Vs Toyota: Which Is Better? (Office Total War) by Felixv: 9:28pm On Jun 24, 2010
i guess as a honda driver i just have to add to this thread,

I bought the latest honda two years ago, that was when it came out.The journey to my eventually buying this car was quite interesting.I probably read every forum and thread on the latest honda,it had great reviews.
The cars i was going to choose from where toyota camry, maxda 626 and of course the honda account.I was actually driving a company hyundai sonata at the time, I hated it,

The toyota camry is excellent on smooth straight highways, got a nice interior, plain body shape, nice fuel consumption, but absolutely no pickup.Taking corners was bad,you could actually feel the tail spin.and also most of the people driving  toyotas are older boring folks,

The honda on the other hand was good at pickups.you actually felt the zeal, the roar of the engine and the power.bends also not too great,a slight tail spin whilst the exterior looked alot better than toyotas, Fuel consumption was moderate,if not good.
But i really loved the honda,it looks pretty.great curves and it is a drivers car.so i will definitely recommend the honda , the couple is absolutely gorgeous, the v6 is the car to buy,

thanks

the surveyor we hired works a alausa,he is a government surveyor ,since the woman selling the land didnt have a simple survey, the guy brought his own equipment.and did the charting,we paid him 20k for that,

the result of the check is that the land is under acquisition, FULL STOP.,.,,

You can get a SURVEYOR and pay the nominal fee of 20k AND then post the results here,

name dropping means jack to me.i am from lagos island and this is not the first piece of land i am attempting to buy,i have a property in co-operative villas and we have properties on lagos island .isale eko,and other parts of lagos,

there are too many agents to deal with.,we currently are checking out properties at the moment, all have at least a deed of assignment while two have the c and o,
i follow lawyers post ds diligently and i do my checks thoroughly,

we have checked the land at badore, royal estate to be precise, and that land has been acquired by the government,, it will be a good idea if you first check out the lands you advertise here,, we are sick of agents who just chase a fast buck. The woman who owns the land could not even provide the simple survey.a deed of assignments means absolutely nothing in relation to land that has been acquired by the lagos state government.,

a crying shame

with all the documentation and hidden costs this land might actually be about 1.2M,

secondly it takes about 1.5hrs from VGC to the land,

it might be better if you announce the whole package, this should include all the documentation fees,
