give 7 of his friends eggs for them to get the
same amount, otherwise there is 1 extra egg left.

What is the least number of eggs he needs for this
to be true?

That is how exam should be. Look at the pattern of the questions, it's not asking for any definition or testing your cramming power. It is asking for application of what you have learned from the course that's why the questions come with "how", asking you to relate whatever theory of the course into real scenario. It's a good exam. Exam should not be made too difficult nor too cheap.
