Yes, he/she becomes CAD citizen.

<someone somewhere must be getting excited, BUT you have to qualify for the insurance cover though>

I'm just curious. You just got here (this is may) and you are in Edmonton to study. What seission would that be please? spring, winter or fall?

"The Insurance and Risk Management Diploma program at MacEwan begins early September and runs for 13 months continuous".

Its a bit strange you came to Edmonton in may to resume a diploma program in september.

I would not use my credit card to pay for anything in naija over the web. Why risk compromising your card? Plus the said cake may never arrive. grin I'd Arrange this through someone who actually knows a bakery and lives in Abuja and not randomly over the web.
U're reply makes sense, it appears to be a more reliable option but I just cant think of anyone in Abj right nw . Will probably think harder.

Does that mean there are no reputable businesses that do home deliveries in Nigeria huh God help us. cry cry cry
FoodAny Bakery In Abuja Capable Of Cake Home Delivery If Ordered From Abroad? by Fidelo(op): 7:07am On Apr 18, 2010
Hi Landers,

I'm hoping some one can help me out here.

I live abroad and a very close friend's birthday is in a few days time. I want a cake delivered at her office at Abuja. Does anyone know any bakery I could contact that would be capable of receiving payment from outside Nigeria (via a credit or debit card).

Thanks

Romantically yours,

Siena:
Fidelo, I've been to the US a number of times, both my elder brothers live there, I have no restrictions as far as living there's concerned. wink

You're referring to life in the fast lane. And just noticed - this thread's about London Vs New York, both large cities. How has it become a thread of Britain Vs America? It appears you're confused! cheesy

And I fail to see why if one prefers one city over another, the least preferred one is "hated."
Dats true, I'm CONFUSED.

Wont say more. Back to life on the fast lane.

Siena:
Lol, I'm hardly being emotional, just factual, as I see it. You're the one actually spitting teeth and blood, try to relax, least you burst a blood vessel, the red light's showing on your pressure gauge. wink

Nothing wrong with your choice, NYC. It's just the reasons you've posted don't make any sense - small cars? Buy a larger one! Small houses? Buy a palace! And as for modern, I never mentioned that, so where did you get that from? cheesy
I was just bored, saw this thread and just hopped in to pass some time and Siena ended up making my time here worthwhile. Thanks for the argument but its time to get busy again.

@ Siena, just try to visit the US this summer, I'm sure you will fall in love - Vegas, Miami, Orlando, Hawaii, Palm Beach, various spots in California and the hated New York - SHEER VARIETY. Compared to Birmingham, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Glasgow - all boring, I would rather go to Paris.

Ok, keep the debate going on. Time to hop out.

grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin
TravelRe: New York Vs London by Fidelo(m): 4:14pm On Apr 13, 2010
Siena:
Any city can be compared to another - all cities have their fans.

Houses come in all shapes and sizes, both in London and New York. A lot of Nigerians would rather invest in a 8-bedroom house with a swimming pool, despite being a wife, husband and a 2-child family, with no plans for more kids. As for the pool, some can't even swim! The larger house is often a status symbol, and nothing more. wink

A lot of current cars in the United States are Euro models. The old, massive Bel Airs, Buick Regals, Mercury Mornachs etc are no longer in vogue. The current models reflect their Euro counterparts, unless you're telling me a US Mercedes E320 is larger than a Euro one? How do you define being "conservative"? And accents, Americans actually love the British accent. Hardly a basis for an argument!
Sienna dear, dont get too emotional, its not a presidential debate.

Of course I assume u've been to both cities. I see UK on ur location so i can feel the bias creeeping in - afterall u're a fan like u said. i dont live in either city but being to both (severally). Maybe u're using a different yardsticks to compare but if its abt being modern then London is way behind.

And please if you can afford the 8-bedroom mansion, please buy it, it dosent bite. And wat do you mean by a lot of nigerians, wat percentage of Nigerians own those big mansions u're even talking about in those 2 citites. So ur British people dont buy mansions.

Hisssssss, I'm out jare.
TravelRe: New York Vs London by Fidelo(m): 7:27am On Apr 13, 2010
I cant believe london is being to compard to NYC,

Anyway i'm sooo anti-UK, little houses, little, annoying right-hand drive cars, annoying accent, soooo conservative lifestyle and all.

London, used to be cool, no more. In fact, i'll pick my Toronto over London.

If u disagree. . . . bring it on. grin

If I have lots of money to throw around on education, i'll go the US. If I have a limited budget but also want a good education, i'll pick Canada. BUT sincerely, lots of factors have to be considered in making such a decision (i.e. dnt just depend on my earlier statement).

Hi Kommentato,
I'm presently pursuing an MPH degree in Canada wit plans to specilaize in Epidemilology or international health. Dunno much abt Uni Ottawa bt the top schools for epi would be McGill, U of Toronto,U of Saskatchewan U of Alberta or U of BC (not very sure if the last 2 have epi programs though).
Of all ur cheapest option shld be the U of S. These schools accept a 2.1 as minimum, to get accepted wit 2.2 wil depend on if u have quality experience already in the area.

Canadians r very nice , contact d school of ur choice 2 find out if u'l be considered

Good luck

wonderbod:
@ FIDELO n all others who followed my story.I got a call frm my agency last night saying i could come pick my visa on monday!
I hv to say they really messed up.Obviously the embassy had been ready to issue the visa same time as fidelo's but because the school we applied to suddenly gave out the spaces of all the students frm the agency(cos dey didnt receive immediate payments),there was no school 4  me to go to. We re-applied to seneca college n after waitin ovr a month for them to send the admission letter,i started harrassin the school with phone calls and e-mail n dey finaly admitted to hav misplaced my application and that of two other guys frm my agency! Apparently, they r not very efficient with their amission thingy n probably because ours came very late but my agency said they've had cases like that wer seneca says dey cant find the applications and they end up getting  admission letters the nxt day in the mail.
I didnt want to wait to c if dat wil happen in my case so Jst this last thursday,we reapplied again to yet another school dt said they had a space for me, i had given up all hope of making it this september cos in d schools i wanted, applications for the popular courses wer closed.
God really came through for me cos i had bin hangin in d balance.there wer times wen i regretted applyin in d first place n giving up d uk admission i had.All the while,i was praying ,it was about the visa.who would hv thought it'll be the schools giving me stress.Last wek, the owner of my agency went to the embassy last week n explained what had been going on and showed the correspondence b/w their office in canada n the schools.they agreed n issued out the visa without me paying my fees or showing a fresh admission letter.they said we culd sort it out either b4 i leave (nxt wk) or wen we get there since every other thin was ok

So, for all you still hoping or having hiccups on the way, what is meant to be definitly will be by the grace of God. kiss
Gud 2 hear. dat rily took a long time comn but like they say everytin's gud dat ends wel. Wer is d Seneca College located? I'm already in Canada tryin to get settled n get prepared for lectures which starts next week after orientation.
