kunlebal: Thank pally, so apart of $1.20 charges @ walmart, I hope Gtbank will not charge me a kobo. The reason why I don't want to come with the cash is that I don't want to be tempted to start buying things I don't need b4 school will resume and also which america bank can I open an account with very easy, I want bank that is very ok in terms of charges Oº°˚˚°ºo cos I intend to open an account immediately I land in Obamaland. Thanks
No GTBank wouldn't charge you. Wellsfargo is okay. With as little as $25 you can open an account. Although, your school be in partnership with a bank to give students a checking account that don't charge you monthly.
Travel › Re: I Need An Advice On How To Settle Down At Ibadan by fittty(m): 11:26pm On Nov 25, 2013
Jamie b: Good evening fellow N'Landers, am coming here cos i believe you guys are the right people to meet.
I am a young guy of 21 and by the grace of God I would be through with NYSC by Feb 2014. Am currently serving in Kishi in Oyo State and the purpose of this thread is to seek ur advise on how to settle down at Ibadan after service cos i dnt want to go back to ma parents home and i believe i would be more industrious if alone.
1.The problem is how is Ibadan in terms of Job opportunies for a fresh graduate dat is through with service (I ve d intention of lookin for a private sch to teach cos i have flare for teaching and which can u recommend)
2. Which part of the city can some one start life and how is d cost of living, accomodation etc
3. Can someone get a good sch to teach for a start b4 d good job comes and possibly a night shift job to make ends meet.

PLS note that this would b ma first time of living alone and back in ma sch days i always take a teaching job durin brks to solve ma own needs and am not d extravagant type. I wud really appreciate ur advice, suggestions and help.
**I wud b much more happy if the Mods can do me d favour of movin it to d frnt page so as to get more helps and advice. Thanks
Ibadan barely have jobs compared to Lagos,PH, Abuja... But you definitely can get a job teaching in a private secondary school but the pay is very low(Btw 20k & 30k). Except you get one in the top notch schools such as Life Forth.

Accommodation is very cheap. With 70-80k per annum, you can get a one bedroom flat depending on the location. Then you should realize getting a good job in Nigeria isn't about putting up applications without knowing anyone. It all has to do with connections. The Night job thing is impossible in Ibadan. I haven't heard of such before.

kunlebal: @mamacita n webstradamous: am coming to the state immediately after xmas and i dont plan to come with large sum of money in my packet, when i land in dallas, i plan to open student account with any bank in the state. this is my question, how can i transfer/move the fund in the Gtbank to my new america bank. please i need clarification about money order or walmart stuff, which one is more better becos i plan to move around $2000 early January 2014
If you have the cash before you travelling date why not just bring it along because of GTBank exchange rate? But better still you can leave it in your GTB account then come here with your master card. You simply walk into any WalMart store and tell them you want to buy money order of $1,000. It cost just 60cent for the money order. Since you'll be needing $2,000 worth then you buy 2 because the maximum you can buy is $1,000. So the 2 costs just $1.20. You'll by swiping your GTB master card in the walmart store. Then you take it to your new bank account and give them to deposit it. Simple!

Allohrandy: I think its from US banks. Last year, When I used my Wells Fargo ATM card on a Bank of America ATM machine to check my balance; I was surprise when $2 was debited from my account just for checking my account balance on a different bank ATM. They also charge me money anytime money is transfer to my account from another bank. I wonder if Checking account balance with another bank ATM and transferring of money to your account is still free in Nigeria. Anyway, most American banks are crooks. Most Americans don't trust their banks because they believe the banks make lots of money out of them.
Its free in Nigeria to Withdraw,Check balance or transfer money from any bank ATM. But here in the US nothing goes for free oh! Some banks even charge as much as $8 to deposit your PayCheck into the same bank. I tire oh!

So true! When about the Kenya WestGate mall attack broke, I was waiting in-line in a fast food here in the US and everyone was watching the news on the big flat screen tv, then a guy said " IDK 'bout any of you, but I'm surprised Kenya even has a mall" Then another lady who has toured Kenya months ago replied "And their toilets flush too".
It was so embarrassing!

No one forgot to include there's a charge for account balance enquiry. I don't know where the charges come from but its either from GTBank or the US bank ATM you used.

mavinc4u: please can i use that method to transfer from nigeria to us
You CANNOT make a TRANSFER. What you can do is purchase MoneyOrder at any WalMart or other retails stores with your GTB card, then you deposit the MoneyOrder into your US bank account. The maximum is $1,000 per transaction/Order, but you can make as many orders as possible but each costs 65Cents.

mekaboy: Well its bound to happen. All this is in preparation to usher in the man of lawlessness(anti-christ). It will be the same worldwide. Eventually there will be one world currency and govt. Since ur bank details, is linked to ur finger print. You will not have access to ur funds unless u have the mark of the beast.

Its happening before our eyes.
