You are making so many assumptions without an iota of fact to back it up. I am only relying on the story as presented and not adding "jara" to justify any bias. So if you can FACTUALLY confirm that she was served court papers and she evaded summons or refused to appear in court before the police jumped in to effect arrest like SWAT team, then point us to the link.

Abeg which fact am I being economical with with? The fact presented or the facts you assume I have been privy to. You make an awful lots of assumptions.

There is a democratic way to seek redress in a democratic state and its certainly not rambo style. You go to court, you are presented with an opportunity to defend your claims, if you are asked to pay damages as determined by the courts to the plaintiff. The police is not involved at all, except the person refuse to appear to a valid court summon, thereby the court issues a bench warrant.

It's only in dictatorship or quasi-democracy that that a citizen can be arrested and jailed for insulting the first lady or a "big" man.

Glad you answered yourself after all this long winding statements you have been making, which is what I have said from get go. Though I am not surprised you tried to hide it in the long story
When I become a big man too, I will exercise my democratic rights to the fullest extant of the law against any m*oron that thinks Social Media doesn't have limits. In fact, I don't need to become a big man to do so. Democracy allows me.
She rented in a glass house and started throwing stones, not knowing her landlord Erisco doesn't play around.

Hello house, I got my visa in 2016 for the purpose of child birth. (I was heavily pregnant when I went for my interview and I disclosed my intentions) Used it and returned. Went on vacation in 2017, and returned. In 2018 I used same visa, for the purpose of birthing my second child but this time, the visa expired 2 weeks into my stay in the U.S but I didn't stay more than the duration I was stamped in and I returned. So I used 1 visa 3 times. 2 child births and 1 vacation. (on my second birthing trip, I still sent an intent letter to the embassy stating my intentions with the same visa and got the generic email response. Here's my concern, would I be queried at my interview renewal for entering the US with an almost expired visa? What are my chances of scaling my interview. This is my first renewal since then. Happy to hear your opinions. Thank you.

Visa validity only applies to a cut-off date CBP will permit you entry into the country.
Your I-94 covers the time you are in the country. You might not be queried for entry as CBP also determined you are valid for entry.
Just hope you don't have an overzealous VO who puts into an account of both births (done before the birthing restrictions) with the current rules.
Also have your hospital receipts for both births with you showing your payments in full

You still fail to realize thar this is a civil matter and not a criminal one. So where does the flight risk come in? All these things you are talking about, ie flight risk, bail, remand, etc are criminal cases. Libel is basically a civil offence which penalty is mostly fines and damages, and not actual jail time, unless there are other issues attached like contempt of court or failure to pay the fines.
In the US Fox news was asked to pay Dominion $700 million for defaming their electoral machines. No one went to Jail, not even Tucker Carlson. No one was detained, no one was questioned by police.
It seems you don't under stand how democracy works.

Can you FACTUALLY confirm if she evaded being served or responding to the process at any point in time?
Judges issue bench warrant for people who refuse to appear in court for civil cases.
No one knows all her actions AFTER Erisco went after her. It's just the hullabaloo on SM people are regurgitating.
And for you to type the bold above shows you are economical with the facts of that case, as you are with this issue.
And democracy has no business in all of this. Even in police state, people have right to seek redress for defamation. And they go to court.
Democracy, once again, doesn't allow you to do as you will without consequences. If she erred, she should be made to pay to the fullest extent of the law. If Erisco erred by 'detaining' her, they should face the consequences of their actions too.
By the time the dust settles (we all know she has no money to pay for damages) and the court makes them do ADR, Erisco will let it go and she will be okay. We may hear what she did that led to her being remanded or detained. We don't have that info. All you guys are saying is Erisco had her arrested for her comments. I strongly believe her actions after Erisco went after her got her arrested.

What you are suggesting is a very dangerous path - a descent into dictatorship, where people are arrested and locked up for voicing their opinions. This is only an opinion about a product, what then happens if you voice your opinion against the chairman itself? What about political office holders, what happens if you voice a negative opinion against a sitting governor or a sitting first lady? The person should be arrested, beaten and locked up for years?
It seems lots of Nigerians don't know the meaning of democracy and democratic governance. There is supposed to be freedom of expression and opinion under such system of governance, so unless it could be proven that the made the product review with malicious intent, she conmited no crime under the law. Even if she did it for some personal vendetta or gains, the case would be a civil case and not a criminal one that would warrant arrest and transfer to Abuja.

I am shocked some people are supporting this gross abuse of power on a defenseless lady.

She is not a defenseless lady. If you live in glass house, don't throw stone. Even in Nigeria, if you cant afford a lawyer, the State DPP provides you a lawyer. If Erisco legal team proved shes a flight risk, she might be remanded. The question is what did her legal team do? I am sure she was probably served or invited for questioning and probably ignored or try to evade, before she had to be picked up.
Her post is online, not in Lagos or wherever she resides. If Erisco HQ is based in Abuja and they filed in Abuja, she will be taken to the said Abuja.

You are only making all these statements based on social media sentiments.

She might have been unable to perfect her bail conditions, and hence remanded in custody. There is nobody holding her incommunicado. If she has been charged to court by the police, she will be availed the option to bail pending the case. If she cant meet bail conditions, she will be held in custody LIKE EVERY OTHER PERSON.

You can voice your opinion all you like, but you cannot destroy another person or business with your opinion and expect people to allow you a free pass.

Imagine if her opinion (or product review as you all call it) leads to boycott of Erisco products, and the company goes bankrupt because its unable to meet its financial obligations to staff, vendors, banks, investors etc

Erisco is exercising its full rights under a democratic system, which you dont seem to understand. She has a right to go on FB and spread unfounded information, and Erisco has a right to legally go after her claims since they know those claims are false.
If the product is sent to a Lab and a food tech scientist comes back with a report there is no sugar in the product, she has the onus to prove there is sugar in the product.
She also said the products have killed people; she has the onus to prove that there are indeed people (provide a list of names and dates) thats have been killed by the product.

The only dangerous path is people thinking social media is their beer parlor gathering and can say anything they want. She made a review filled with false information and claimed the product killed people. That is ALL the proof of malicious intent Erisco needs. Even if its a review she made (I wonder who sent her), she cant make a negative and damning review based on falsehood and say there was no malice.

Social media and or free speech or personal opinion CANNOT REPLACE going after people for LIBEL, when it has the potential to harm another or destroy a business entity.

There is no dictatorship in this matter. She beat the drum, she should tie wrapper and dance to the beats.

Hello All, Please i need Advice. I hope to go to the US to have my baby, i am using an agency(they will be in charge of everything, accomodation, hospital and all) They applied for an emergency date but I wasn't told on time. When i asked for update, i was told to check my mail, i checked and saw approval for an emergency date but it was 3 days after, so the agency re applied for an emergency date for me but this time around i was denied. I am just confused on how to go from here.

Maybe you should start by reading current statute on birth tourism in the US as it relates to visa applications.
It will help you manage expectations greatly. You may need it.

On what basis have these lady being arrested?

What crime did she commit?

The minimum is libel.
She has to show evidence of people killed by the product.
Secondly, if there is no sugar in the ingredients of the product, then she has to demonstrate where she found sugar and also, what the economic and financial implications of her statement is on the business.
There is freedom of speech, but it has its limit.

So many of you come from broken families from the comments you are all posting here. This is the result of a society that refuses to raise each other in love, but want to form i and my family are hard and tough cookies.

Bro, your brother owes you all you expect from him. Don’t mind all these people that were raised in mean homes and families. Don’t raise your next generation like that.
Your brother ought to share all he has with you. When he has one noodle to cook, he should leave half for you. When you have 2 satchets of pure water left and you spill one, leave the 2nd for him to drink.
Your brother is also trying to survive in the Nigerian economy and doesn’t really have, so give him a benefit of doubt he won’t be this way forever.
As you are doing your apprenticeship, start hustling with selling phones so you can make 100 or 200 daily. Speak to people in the market there to buy phones and recommend where to go and which to buy. That way you’d get some money from them. Just recommend. Don’t dictate or decide for them before they hold you responsible for a bad phone or deal.
Let people in your neighborhood and the route you use in trekking to work know you are a phone plug. You’d be able to get some connections or order.
Since you are on NL, I guess you have FB. Start posting phones for sale on FB Market Place and you’d get people to come to you at work. Don’t go to them. Don’t do online transaction.

I don't think you need family photos for the B1/B2 visa, but we don't know the circumstances of your application.

Take same passport and a new passport taken a week or two to your interview because the passports are supposed to be 6 months old at your interview date.

Good evening all,

I applied for Non immigrants visa at American Embassy in Lagos earlier in year. As at the time of submitting the application the available interview date was Nov. 2. This date was used in getting hotel booking and all the necessary planning.

Last week, I got a mail from American Embassy changing the interview date to February 2024 from November 2024
My question is will attendance of the interview in February affect the intended date of November. On the form submitted, the intended travel date is November 30, 2024 and hotel reservation starts from December 2, 2024.

Any suggestions or advise please!

It won't affect you. Your visa is valid for use within 5 years. You can get it in Feb and still travel Nov
Education / Re: Statistics Of Out Of School Children Per Regions In Nigeria by fkj950ax(m): 7:58pm On Sep 18, 2023
Data doesn't exist in a vacuum.

10% of 1,000 is better than 5% of 1,000,000
100 out of school children is better than 50,000 out of school children.

Statisense should have those figures and percentages alongside the population of school age children in each zone.

If a zone has 100,000 people and 10% are of school age, then we cant just compare it with another zone with 10,000 people with 50% of school age. The info will be skewed.

For 'them' to say you have an interview date and later say it has been rescheduled can only be 'plausible' because he/she created a ustraveldocs profile. You need that log in.
If you create another one, the embassy will block it because your passport number is tied to that one. You'd need to get it to or ask the embassy to reset the password to the account - that is if its an email address you have.

Your info in the DS160 can change. Events and circumstances change in life, but it must follow a pattern thats not bizarre.
EG 'They' packages Conference Application using Auditor Profile at Julius Berger for you 2 years ago, and you now refill yourself stating you have been a Food Tech Mgr at Unilever for the past 5 years.

I paid the visa fee myself, and I have the receipt in my gtb app, but the issue is I don't even know where to start from, and again to ask the house if the receipt is still valid for that purpose despite being used for same purpose

Trying to know what documents I will need to fill out the form.

You don't need any document to fill the form. The DS160 Application is you filling out details about yourself. Life, Work and Financial History.
The Visa Fee is valid for one year from date you paid for it. But there is a limit on the number of times you can reschedule appointments before it becomes expired, you have to pay another fee.
Asking what documents indicates you don't know what was filled for you by the agent, so this is your real complication. Filling another DS160 one year after and the info has so much variance with the previous one won't help your application.

Guys,
Do consider not using agents.
There is nothing they can do that you can't do. There is no special skillset they have that you don't have. There is nothing unique the Embassy gives them that you do not have access to (and freely).
Agents will embellish your profile to make it appear you are larger than what you are - misrepresentation (which the embassy punishes you when it bottoms out). Most of the info they use in embellishing your profile is not even shared with you, and in future, you wont be able to defend it or even answer basic questions about them. The profile they created for you (ustraveldocs) stays there forever and thats what you'd need in future to deal with USinNigeria.

Standstrong:
I picked up the gate man job ending of last month.
I heard one man saying he is looking for someone to cut grasses in his compound. Being something I can do to collect the money to help myself as i was hungry and peniless, I met the man and told him i can do the work and we agreed on N15k.

So as my oga went to work, i rushed down to do the work. While I was on it, i dont know what brought my oga back to the house and he didnt see me at the post.

He called me and asked me where i am. I rushed down to the house. I told him i got a small contract of 15k to cut grass for someone in the neighbourhood.

The man got so angry on why I left his duty post to go do another job. Worse was that the person i did the job for was more like his enemy, as i later learnt they've not been in good terms.

He sacked me instantly. I begged this man as a human being to please forgive but he refused to consider me again.

Sad how struggling citizens are being badly treated everyday even while legitimately hustling for survival. How he will pay me for the 3 weeks, he didn't say it.

You are funny.
You left your job to go do another and you are angry with being held accountable for abandoning your job?
Nobody treated you bad. You are the one who treated your employer badly while he legitimately gave you a job.
You are also upset a man decided to come back to his own house at a time he wanted. Its not your house. You cant expect him not to come back anytime he wants

This idea of FIRS and Customs setting financial targets every year is extremely wrong.

Tax and duties cannot be coerced out of people. If the economy is productive, people will automatically be charged duties and they will pay taxes. Its like saying I will give birth to children 10 ft tall? You can't determine the height of an unborn child. The child grows and lives his life and whatever height he gets to is what you will have.

But NGA agencies don't do anything to make the economy productive, but set tax targets to collect.

The loopholes and deficiencies across the tax collection is also the fault of the government.

The vigour they use in collection is not the same when it comes to accounting for what the tax was used for. Not a single FIRS CEO has said to the public what the FG used the taxes for, but it just goes into FAAC and thats the end. National cake for the boys

Properties / Re: Why Do Affluent Areas In Nigeria Do This? by fkj950ax(m): 9:59pm On Sep 12, 2023
Raydos:
Why are Most buildings in Nigeria especially commercial towers fenced off?
From the Downtown of Lagos, To The most Affluent areas of Abuja, They all have something in Common, All the Skyscrapers are all fenced off and not open to the public!
This make the city look ugly, In modern society, Skyscrapers down floors are rented out for restaurant, Boutiques, e.t.c, Which makes window-shopping possible!

Every building should not be open to the public.
Every high rise must not have a commercial space on the ground floor.
Security in Nigeria is not available like it is in the countries you are comparing Nigeria with.
We build with an offset from the fence line in Nigeria, whereas in these countries, or the US, your wall is built directly where you property starts from the road, so its easy to have retail space for coffee shops, restaurants, boutiques etc
The streets in Nigeria do not have a sidewalk as part of city planning for people to walk in and out easily of the commercial spaces you want.

In the US, they have a build design called 5 over 1 where 5 floors of office or residential use is built over 1 commercial or retail floor
