Travel / Re: Wigwe: No Specific Information On Helicopter Crash - Access Bank by fkj950ax(m): 3:22pm On Feb 12 |
Nemere2020: Here, let me help you gbeborun's disturbing the bank for info that doesn't directly or indirectly concern you https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2024-02-11/fatal-southern-california-helicopter-crash Federal investigators are looking at weather conditions, reports of downed power lines near the accident site and other possible factors that may have caused a helicopter crash in San Bernardino County that killed six people, including the CEO of one of the largest banks in Nigeria. “There were several 911 calls to report the crash” from motorists along Interstate 15, Michael Graham, a member of the National Transportation Safety Board, said during a news conference Saturday. He asked witnesses who had seen the crash or had photographs or videos of the incident to reach out to the agency at witness@ntsb.gov. The Airbus EC 130 single-engine helicopter crashed near Halloran Springs in the Mojave Desert, about 75 miles northeast of Barstow shortly after 10 p.m. Friday, Graham said. The charter helicopter, which was operated by Orbic Air LLC of Burbank, had taken off from Palm Springs International Airport at 8:45 p.m. and was bound for Boulder City, Nev., Graham said. Some witnesses said the crash occurred during weather conditions that they described as “rain and a wintry mix,” he said. Investigators, he said, are also “aware of some media reports of downed power lines near the accident site. We will be looking into these reports.” In addition, Graham said investigators would be looking at the helicopter’s air worthiness, maintenance records and air traffic control operations to see if any of these areas may have been a factor in the crash. All six people on board were killed, including two crew members and four passengers, he said. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department on Saturday said the identities of those killed in the crash were being withheld pending notification of their next of kin. But Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, a prominent Nigerian American economist and director-general of the World Trade Organization, identified one of the victims as Herbert Wigwe, the 57-year-old CEO of Access Bank, one of the largest financial institutions in Nigeria. In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, she said Wigwe’s wife and son also died in the crash, as did Abimbola Ogunbanjo, former chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group. Some media were reporting that the family was planning to attend Sunday’s Super Bowl game in Las Vegas. The NTSB and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the crash. The helicopter wasn’t required to have a cockpit voice recorder or a flight data recorder and didn’t have either, Graham said. “This is the beginning of a long process,” he said, adding that “a preliminary report will be available in a few weeks.” Connor Sheets Connor Sheets is an investigative and enterprise reporter at the Los Angeles Times. |

The exchange rate due to our weak economy and poor government is the reason for all of this. If FX Rate is $1:N500, it won’t have that much of an impact on people earning salaries and profit in Naira. Visa fees between countries are equally fixed. NG will bump its fees to the new figure also for Americans requiring NG visa. I think it’s part of the consular reciprocity or something like that countries have. Unfortunately the reciprocity doesn’t account for equal application by nationals of the two countries, NG will still suffer because we don’t have that number of tourist willing to come to NG. Visa fees are non refundable everywhere in the world. So if your application is denied, the “processing” or “work done” by the embassy has to be paid for regardless. |

Protesting against economic hardship requires a lot more than sitting around doing nothing but watching a screen. Let’s stop conflating passion for productivity. They are extremely different things. It’s like saying because all Nigerians can cook indomie, then we should all be able to fly an Airbus A380 |

OyoTunjiUSA: Can I get B1/B2 visa and then travel to the US in order to look for employment and take a job? No The USCIS Tweet (below) people are using to justify this wasn't issued for B1/B2 Applicants. Its an option for non-immigrants workers who got terminated (not everybody) and are in between looking for another job The full info can be found here https://www.uscis.gov/working-in-the-united-states/information-for-employers-and-employees/options-for-nonimmigrant-workers-following-termination-of-employment There are other avenues for getting resident permit, but they are EXPENSIVE and most people cannot afford it. The bulk of people on B1/B2 trying to hustle conference and marriage as reason for going to the US cannot afford it. Please don't get me wrong, I am not asking people to stay in Nigeria, but when you are on your immigration journey, be well informed and advised so you don't get stuck. The EASIEST and CHEAPEST way to get to the US is visit visa. 90% of stay-back visa holders can only adjust by sham marriages (with implications to existing spouse+children in Nigeria), which single applicants don't go through, they are less likely to be approved (family ties) in the first place. 1 Like

raddyworld:One of the conditions of the B1/B2 which you sign when you apply is not to stay behind. That is abusing the visa. Explore other means of relocating with your family. They are expensive, but you won't get stuck. Read state.gov to see if you will get student visa while in the US on a visit visa. You will require a work permit to be employed by a company in the US which your B1/B2 precludes. 1 Like |

Travel / Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by fkj950ax(m): 2:21am On Feb 04 |
Agklink:There's no need to cancel or withdraw the application. You may get a date before the 2025 date you had, and if the visa is approved, you can use it to attend any conference or vacation or any other purpose until 2030. MRVs aren't refundable, so why cancel? Just fill a new DS160 and proceed. The EA denial is on your file already, so no going-back on that. It only affects you getting an EA in future 1 Like

Animegirl:If you have an opportunity to immigrate from Nigeria, I recommend you do. A friend called me and told me its not easy leaving Nigeria; I asked her is it easy living in Nigeria? Today she is about 80% gone with migrating to another country. Either way, whether you leave Nigeria or you live in Nigeria, its not easy. So decide which of the NOT easy you want. But we can all agree that in 5 years, the outcome of either of the NOT easy will be different. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Karen2024: Without meaning to be rude, you are not very bright. When you were building and shaping him for YEARS, what happened to your own life, career, self-worth? Wasn’t worth building at all? If you could make such a stupid decision to build someone else’s life for years and had no plan for yourself, then I guess nothing out of the ordinary happened to you. You laid your bed, time to lay on it. And for the seventh time… And this goes out to all of you on NL and in Nigeria A boy is born A girl is born A boy gets education A girl gets education A boy learns trade A girl learns trade A boy rents a house A girl rents a house A boy buys a car A girl buys a car A boy starts business A girl starts business A boy buys land A girl buys land A boy builds house A girl builds house A boy asks a girl out for a relationship A girl accepts the boys relationship (Everything above stays as they are. No joint venture) A boy proposes to a girl A girl can refuse proposal (no crime in this) A girl can accept the proposal At this point, ONLY ONE THING (not all) becomes joint venture - accommodation/house. Everything else stays separate. When boy and girl have children, they should raise their children to rinse and repeat the above. |

whiteMandingo: Thats one thing that trumps a lot of applicants interview. Ticket alone is one year salary. By the time you add vex money and other shopping estimates, that is like N4m - N5m (18-24months salary) So why are you willing to spend 2 years (gross) salary for two weeks? The FX situation is not helping at all 2 Likes |

The way Nigerians actively mass follow one pastor to the other is a cause for concern. It's like a trend. Every 6-9months, a pastor becomes extremely well known and everyone is hee-hawing that pastor until the next one comes on scene. And it is always the "agressive-prayer-point" pastors. Well, no nation or country has prayed its way into development or personal success. 1 Like 1 Share |

This here is the danger of misinformation. It’s difficult to correct. It distracts actors from what the focus should be. It causes unrealistic expectations Invitation Letter is almost useless when it comes to B1/B2 Visa. It can’t be uploaded, it can’t be emailed, it won’t be collected from you, and always never read at the interview, so why is there so much importance attached to it. It is not a holy grail required to kickstart your Visit Visa in the Non-Immigrant Category. The DS160 Form has fields that you fill to provide details of whoever is inviting you or whoever your visit is based around 5 Likes |
