![]() I like how the unofficial language in the squad is pigin. And also how they play gyration and street songs. That's why I clamour for players who came out of Nigeria like Nwabali and Osimhen. With the recent clamour for foreign born players, I fear that the soul of the eagles will be lost someday. But I hope not. |
Two economic giants of Africa with millions of passionate fans cannot have people travel to fill up the stadium. Too bad. It's just like seeing an Euro game of England vs. Germany with an empty stadium. African government free your people from poverty. You can do it... |
From the line up, Aina will play at the left wing back with Osayi on the right. I think it's a good call. SA's best player is Tau who will be playing on that wing. (I think Tau is a mediocre player though) We have to respect that. Zaidu has been a bit below par recently. Good call from the coach IMO. |
That gives you a glimpse of how capitalist and business men think. Business first before country. Nwabali will bring more global attention, thereby increase revenue, or he will fetch a decent transfer fee. What will bafana bafana winning add to the man? |
![]() In that first game, all I was looking out for was if the players care enough. I thought they did. I liked how Osimhen took the ball immediately after the equalizer to restart quickly rather than celebrate. It showed he wanted to win. The tactical side may be deficient, but these boys will beat Ivory Coast. I have no doubt about it. |
sirgalahad26:If it means listening to podcasts, then I do. But, if it means having my own podcast, then I don't (at least not yet). However when driving, I usually prefer radio or just music. |
Nothing beats a Friday for fun with Lawrence on classic FM. The high comes by 3pm when he goes highlife... Then there's It's OK with Okey (Okebakassi) on lagos talks in the evenings by 5pm. Radio makes Lagos traffic easy especially if you wind up your window with the air-conditioning in chilling mode |
God blesses people in different ways. For some, its water; others, oil, gas, gold, uranium etc. I strongly believe that such resources should belong to the locals who will in turn pay taxes to support the central. But Nigeria thought it was a bad idea. Now we have it. Every form of natural resources in Nigeria belongs to the federal government. It's common sense. Water cannot be excluded. |
If you feed your fellow man, coming out to tell the world is one of the worst form of humiliation. Under such circumstances, men forget loyalty and gratitude. All they want is to fight for their pride and their ego. |
This 1891 list looks like it was typed on Microsoft word. Even the original copy looks computerized and good. That's nice. The white guys have gone far in this development thing. |
Interesting to see that the french has established relationship with the junta government. It shows that they don't really care about democracy, they care about their interest. Nigeria should have been wiser than this... Never fight your brother, especially when pushed by outsiders. |

Roberto Firmino has revealed tensions between Sadio Mané and Mohamed Salah during the trio's time at Liverpool. Firmino, who left Liverpool last summer after a trophy-laden eight-year spell at Anfield, said he played the role of "firefighter" between the pair when they made up one of Europe's most devastating attacking partnerships -- seen most publicly when Mane fumed on the bench against Burnley in 2019 shortly after Salah failed to pass him the ball for an easy tap in. "I knew those guys very well, maybe better than anyone," Firmino wrote in his book, "Sí Señor: My Liverpool Years." "It was me out there on the field, right in the middle of them. I saw first-hand the looks, the grimaces, the body language, the dissatisfaction when one was mad at the other. I could feel it. I was the link between them in our attacking play and the firefighter in those moments. "For many, that disagreement [against Burnley in August 2019] between Sadio and Mo was the first; for some, the first and last. But I knew it had been brewing since the previous season, 2018-19. My instinct and my duty was to defuse the situation between them. Pour water on the fire - never petrol." Firmino continued: "They were never best friends; each kept himself to himself. It was rare to see the two of them talking and I'm not sure if that had to do with the Egypt-Senegal rivalry in African competitions. I truly don't know. But they also never stopped talking, never severed ties. They always acted with the utmost professionalism. I never took sides. That's why they love me: I always passed the ball to both; my preference was for the team's victory. Many focus on what I brought to the attacking trio in tactical terms, but perhaps just as important was the human element: my role as peacemaker, unifier. If I didn't do that, it would be nothing but storms between the two of them on the field. "Maybe that's why I was the one most often substituted by Klopp. The three of us had very different personalities and the Boss knew I wouldn't throw a bottle to the ground or anything like that. If I was bothered, I'd talk to him privately afterwards. When a substitution was needed, it was easier to take Bobby off than to upset either of the other two. "Everyone, including the other players, knew that's how it worked. It was the worst-kept secret in Liverpool - naturally, no one ever asked what I thought or how I felt. That's just my nature; the team comes first. The Boss knew it." Source: https://africa.espn.com/football/story/_/id/38854317/firmino-book-reveals-salah-mane-tensions-liverpool

In addition to all others suggested, I'd say you don't have to stop completely. Just try to give yourself a break. For example, you may decide to watch your favorite porn once in a week, say Saturday. What you'll do is abstain for one week then reward yourself on Saturday. After sometime, you may try once in two weeks. As you get control little by little, you may realize that you don't want that reward again. In between, try leaving your stomach close to hungry by eating little or fasting as the case maybe. You can also embrace working out to build your body and mind. Just be patient with yourself. And a strong will is absolutely needed. Make no mistake about it, you can't drop a habit overnight. But if you're serious, you can be completely free in 3 months. |

benjaminlawson:So if they're going to patronize the education, healthcare, banking and real estate sectors of the western countries, what is the reason the western countries should ban them? That's my point. What's in it for the west? When you consider the fact that these politicians gives them access to Nigeria's resources, I ask again: how does banning them benefit the west? |
![]() Nigerians must find a way to solve Nigeria's problems. UK, US or EU don't care about you. If the person has money to spend in their country and boost their economy you think they will just listen to your petition? Besides, a thief can spend his money in Dubai, Bahamas, Singapore, Brazil, etc. Our politicians only need the western countries for their education and universities for their children. As long as their children can go to those countries, they're fine. Heck! they even prefer to stay in Nigeria here while going abroad just for vacation. If we can't find a way to deal with bad leaders here, then we're stuck. Nobody is coming to save us. |
Before now, squads are usually about 18 players. The fans wanted more games. Instead of tasking the same players to provide the games, the authorities increased squad numbers plus academy players. More fatigue? Alright then let's increase substitution to 5 so that the same players won't play a lot of minutes. We need quality. Not bad then, let's increase revenue so you can have at least 2 quality players for every position. Despite everything, the coaches still use the same players every game. They blame it all on the FA. Even the 5 substitute sef, they don't use all. Pep is even worse. To make one substitute na case for am. My point is that these coaches should take responsibility too. There's enough money to employ more talents all over the world looking for opportunities. Should we make the game smaller so that a few people only will enjoy the reward? Besides a substitute in a club like fulham may not even play up to 5 matches in a season. |
Reference:I didn't dispute the importance of defense in tournaments like that. I was just asking, when your opponent is doing the defending and packing the box (like against 10 man england, against Ireland, against morroco in the nations cup and against Zambia), how do you control the game and create chances? In such a situation, no counterattack for you because it's you they want to counter. Then you have to be intelligent in moving the ball into dangerous situations. The falcons don't have it yet. Maybe with more time with that coach, they can fix it. The talent is there no doubt. The application is what's lacking. And don't forget that despite the so called defending, our goal keeper was winning man of the match. We were still giving away high probability chances to opponents. On a different day in such play against Canada and Australia, you would have lost. We shouldn't be carried away by results. We want the team to be better. |
Plask:I agree with you completely... |
adioolayi:You might have missed the point. Australia were favourites to win which makes our defending tactics suitable for the game. I'm asking about how we play when we are favorite to win. You saw the three goals? First, deflection to a cross. Second a corner scramble third a defensive error. Which of those goals game from a well worked out pattern of play? |
Not bad... I still have my reservations about him though. He brought defensive discipline to the team which was good. But, the team was built to play like an underdog. They run and press and defend impressively. But after pressing and winning the ball, they have no idea what to do with it. They don't create chances and don't take quality shots. Truth is that outside a few games at the world cup, in any other match the falcons play, they're favourites. That means they'll have the ball more. How do we cope? That explains why we struggled at the last African nations cup. We saw it vs England when they got a red card and relinquished possession of the ball to us, we were clueless. Even vs Ireland in the last group game, same story. Playing as an underdog is good. But in Africa, every team will give us the ball and defend against us. The question again is how do we cope? |
![]() Having travelled around this country, I've seen such love exist. They still leave in huts, draw water from wells, and at night, I see them gather around a fire with their children. They tell stories and the kids play in sand. When I look at them, I see the glee and joy on their faces despite their "poverty". I try to compare their faces with that of the average city hussler. On the traffic in Lagos daily, what I see is sad faces. So, OP yes, they exist in Nigeria. Don't let materialism deceive you. Oops. I forgot to mention that they are not on social media either. |
ppogba:Maybe I'm not sure. In one year right from the once Tuchel signed last summer to this summer, Chelsea have spent over 900m Euros. Now, have they sold up to 300m? I think the highest was Mount. The rest was below 30 m |
ppogba: |
I look at Chelsea's team and I still see average in it. Except for maybe Nkunku and James, I doubt if any of those players can cut it at a top European team like Bayern. Chelsea have done what nobody has done in the history of football: they spent close to 1 billion euros in just a year. There's no much noise about it because it's backed by Americans. It's OK for American owners to do that, not Russian or Arabs. Imagine if this was Mancity or PSG, by now the whole of Europe would have been on fire on how they want to kill football. Man united have been doing it since Fegurson left, yet no noise. Yet the trolls say it's just money that makes Gardiola's team great. They forget that Man U and Chelsea are spending doing same with no results. Anywhere you turn in Europe, you'll see hypocrisy at the highest level. |
We were the better team for the first half. I like the hussling spirit in the girls. They chase down every ball. Ayinde has James in her pocket. Michelle Alozie is becoming my crush at the tournament, silently very solid and effective. Plumtre seems to be extra motivated - babe came with her A game. Ajibade is bae. The girl hussle to the last. I was seeing the Atletico madrid spirit in her. Nnadozie game big with wonderful saves too. She's in line to be the star of the tournament. Now I see why the Coach left out Oshoala. She comes with that Barcelona vibes, which isn't what we need now. But I think Oshoala is a game changer for us. She's our wild card. The English defense will be a bit terrified when she comes in. We can do this |
![]() Morroco inspired the continent at the world cup in November. Now this. As the world suffer economy downturns, the quest for African resources have intensified. We have some African leaders standing up to the west at the moment. The truth is that theirs a potential for a shift in global power over the next 100 years. But the people who can benefit from it, are the people who cannot see it. Too bad... |
ecoco2014:I think that 11 minutes was fair. FIFA used the same metrics during the Men world cup, which is adding up all wasted time. For example, Ohale's injury after the second goal took up about 4 minutes. The goal celebration after Oshoala's goal was about 2 minutes. Ajibade took about 1 minute for her injury too. That's about 7 minutes already. If you add other stoppages here and there plus, of course, the fact that it's the host nation, 11 minutes isn't that bad. Let's see the brighter side: we held on. |
