Which organisations are the leading brands to work for? Jobberman has reviewed the list of the best places to work in Nigeria to provide a comprehensive rating of employee satisfaction and commitment to different employers in Nigeria. The 3rd Annual Jobberman Best 100 Companies To Work For focused on identifying, recognising and celebrating top employers in Nigeria, as rated by employees and professionals. The ranking also provides insight to job seekers on companies they should have their eyes on, for employment and career growth, as well as providing opportunities for business prospecting. conducted online surveys with experts across all industries utilising its 2 million+ database of entry-level job seekers and seasoned professionals; as well as reaching out through email, social media, and partner channels. The survey captured questions on work experience, salary parameters and working conditions. The key work parameters highlighted in the survey were as follows: Level of Experience Monthly Salary Current Organisation of Employment Reasons for Commitment to Current Employer Job Satisfaction Career Growth Prospects Work-Life Balance Staff Welfare Equal Opportunity Policy Company Culture Methodology Respondent Categorisation Only responses from employed respondents were considered, on the premise that employed respondents are better qualified to provide accurate and unbiased views on their current or past organisations. All respondents were classified according to Age Bracket, Seniority Level, Monthly Salary and duration at the company. Only seniority level had a weighting and impact in the final results with the senior level carrying the most weighting and entry-level carrying the least. The Business Owner level carried no weighting so as not to make the results biased. Respondents were asked to rate their current employer on the following satisfaction metrics, using a 5-point system ranging from Not Satisfied to Very Satisfied: Job Security Monthly Salary Career Growth Prospects Company Management Work/Life Balance Staff Welfare Employee Relationship Gender Equality Organisational Structure The responses here were weighted and used to qualify and rank all 172 nominations for the Top Employers to work for. Nominations by current and former employees had a higher weighting than those who nominated companies based on hearsay or public perception. The final scores per company were then normalised to take account of companies who have thousands of employees. Only companies confirmed to have more than 50 employees were considered in the final result. The major work parameters responsible for the satisfaction ratings indicated above were centred primarily on Monthly Salary, Work/Life Balance, Career Growth and Advancement, Welfare Benefits and Job Security in order of importance. Respondent Overview A total of 2,013 valid responses were considered in the final analysis. 32.7% female and 67.3% male. 71.9% of the respondents were between the ages of 26 and 40. Seniority parameters were as follows: Entry-Level 32.9%, Middle-Level 46.6%, Senior-Level 17.7% and Business Owners 2.8%. 51% of respondents earn under NGN100,000 (US$200) monthly, 23% of respondents earn between $200 and $300, 15.9% earn between $300 and $600, 6% earn between $600 and $1000 with only 4.1 % of respondents earning over $1000 monthly. (The exchange rate as at 31st January 2017 of US$1: NGN500 has been used.) About 56% of respondents have been working for their current organisations for up to 2 years. 28% of them have been with their current employer for between 2 and 5 years while 9% had been with their current employer for over 7 years. The majority of survey respondents indicated being fairly satisfied with their current employment while 21.9% expressed dissatisfaction overall. Only 6% of the respondents indicated they were very satisfied overall while 21.2% were just satisfied. According to the survey, only 13.8% of respondents were highly satisfied with their jobs. This did not come as a surprise judging from the fact that only 10.6% of respondents enjoy a very satisfactory work-life balance. Another source of the dissatisfaction expressed by respondents was credited to only 5.4% of them being satisfied with their monthly salary. The frustration experienced by employees can also be attributed to poor career growth prospects, where only 17.8% of respondents were satisfied. To highlight the dissatisfaction even further, only 15.1% considered their employer’s organisational culture to be excellent. One highlight that also raised great concerns was staff welfare where only 8.7% of the respondents considered their company’s staff welfare excellent. These figures clearly reveal a need for companies to improve on job satisfaction for their employees with a focus on better salaries, improved staff welfare packages, a more robust work-life balance, a stronger organisational culture and enhanced career growth prospects for employees. Insights Culture matters A total of 72 organisations that made the Best 100 cut are run by Nigerian CEOs while 28 of these companies are run by Expatriate CEOs; reflecting the importance of culture and local knowledge in order to thrive in Nigeria. 59.3% of respondents were of the opinion that their work commitments were appreciated by their organisations. Another 63% were open to referring their company to others seeking employment. Job Mobility on the Rise When asked if respondents saw themselves working with their current employers for the next two years, 51% did not, while 15% responded that they would, 33.9% of the respondents were unsure. Multinationals are the cream of the crop A total of 60 multinational organisations made the cut for best companies to work for in Nigeria. 8 of these organisations rank in the top 10 companies on the list, followed by 2 local brands in the financial and e-commerce sectors, respectively. Of these multinational companies, 19 of them are privately run while 36 are publicly listed companies. Local companies on the rise The rankings show that 42 of the best companies listed started in Nigeria and cut across the Financial Services, ICT, Media, Power, Oil and Gas, Aviation, Outsourcing and Professional Services sectors. In total, 27 local companies were listed with 20 of these organisations being privately owned while 13 of these organisations are publicly listed companies. Government-owned organisations totalled 13 of the Best 100 with 80% of them being in the Oil and Gas; Financial Services; Logistics; and Aviation Sectors. Healthcare is a big focus for Non-Profit Organisations 7 Non-Profit organisations were listed as the best places to work. 3 out of these 7 organisations are United Nations’ (UN) organisations while 4 of them are health-care focused. 24 of the companies dominated the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) With ‘Power Law’ at play in 2016, a total of 39 companies out of the 100, represent approximately 80% of the market capitalisation of the entire Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE). Most FMCG’s on the list are Publicly Quoted In the FMCG sector, 13 organisations were ranked as best to work for. It was interesting to know that 10 of these organisations are all publicly quoted companies. 11 of these organisations are multinational companies with CHI Limited and Flour Mills ranking top for the local brands. Only 4 FMCGs listed started in Nigeria. Financial Sector is the least resilient sector with nine banks dropping off the list Amidst the heavy job cuts across financial services sector in 2016, a total of 19 financial institutions were considered best places to work. 8 of these being multinationals. In 2015, a total of 17 banks made it to the list of best companies to work for. In 2016, the number of banks on the list dropped to 10; with Skye Bank, UBA, FCMB, Stanbic IBTC Bank, Sterling Bank, Diamond Bank, EcoBank, Mainstreet Bank and Keystone Bank not making the list. Oil & Gas still resilient and the most attractive sector Despite the decline in oil prices, 13 Oil and Gas companies were listed on the Best 100 Companies to Work For; with 70% being multinational companies and NNPC ranking highest for the local brands. This was an improvement from our last report with only 8 oil and gas organisations making the best 100 cut. The Oil and Gas sector also emerged as the industry with the highest-paid median. It recorded the best compensation and benefits with NGN500,000 as monthly salary for entry-level employees. Educational institutions take the backseat No educational institution in Nigeria made it to the list of 100 Best Companies to Work For. As expected, this raises concerns over how much attention they receive in the estimation of respondents. Funding helps In the ICT sector, 13 organisations were listed with over 62% of these companies being multinational and 6 of them founded in Nigeria. 5 internet companies: Jumia, Konga, Iroko Partners, Uber and Andela are internationally funded companies that have attracted an excess of US$500 million. Among the 7 Telecommunication brands that made the list of Jobberman Best 100 Companies to Work For, 85.7% of them were multinational organisations including locally founded establishments. Interestingly, only 2 out of the 7 companies were founded in Nigeria. These were Nigerian Communications Commission and Glo. Three of the Four Industrial Groups are involved in Cement Production In the industrial sector, 4 organisations were considered the best place to work. All of which are multinationals. 2 of these companies started in Nigeria. 3 out of 4 of the listed companies are pursuing cement manufacturing as a major line of business. Hmmm. I will update this space UPDATE I appreciate the effort by the OP in putting these here and I thank the MODs for taking this to frontpage. This will enable some critique and some corrections made First off, I am a recruiter and I have been screening CVs for clients, rewriting and appraising CVs as well since 2013. The CV presented by the OP can be better rewritten as bellow: [center]MICHAEL BOLARINWAThe ABOVE is just a quick and simple/better presentation. Now let me explain some of the changes... For the HEADER, I removed the social media because I do not need it. Besides, you might forget to remove it if you submit your CV in hard copy. I may just consider you dumb if you printed your CV in hard copy and there is a social media profile link. It is best to just remove it. For the Career Statement/Objective, the info the OP gave there is a duplicate of the Education Section. Career Objective implies what or how you intend to use your experience or skills in my organisation. So tell me that and not a copy of what you will still tell me. Mostly, when I am interviewing candidates, my first questions come from the Career Statement/Objective because I realise may people just copy and paste and do not even know what is written there. Then the Skills and Competencies are the next. This is where you nail it with the skills you have. Check the Job Specification of the job advert and identify the ones you have, then include in this section. For the EDUCATION, the name of the university should not come first. I am more concerned about what you studied than where you studied it. It is in few cases where the client wants candidates from a specific school that may count. That is why working with the JD of the posted job is important. DO NOT include your grade IF and ONLY IF the JD does not request it and IF it is below SECOND CLASS LOWER. This will erode any discrimination the CV reviewer/screener may have. It helps you advance to the next stage so that they can see you at the interview and get to know you better instead of judging you from the letterings of your CV For EXPERIENCE, that is already well written but there is a new observation which I am still trying to get valid reasons for backed up with research before I make it known to the Recruiting Community and post on my blog. I think placing the industry or what your company does beside the company name on your CV will put you in better light with the recruiters. For example: ABC Company (plastic manufacturing company) Sapele, Delta State. This will make me know what industry you have relevant experience and save me more time researching the company in case I am searching for candidates in a particular industry. Some companies are not popular and one may not know immediately what industry they are in e.g Andela (popular, but do you know the industry?). Placing the industry will also enable Applicant Tracking Systems to pull your CV out faster just because of the 'industry keyword'. For instance, I am presently searching for Business Analysts that have relevant experience (5 years) in the Manufacturing industry (send CV to cv@acegoals.com). I need to know the industry you have worked in from just looking at your CV because I will get a lot and would not want to just start searching each 'unpopular' company Now, I included LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE because you have better advantage if I know that you have to ability to lead, take decisions and influence others positively. So even if it is Volunteering experience, please include it. Now PERSONAL DETAILS. Please and please, DO NOT INCLUDE all your life's info there. I don't what to know your village or birthplace or Local government etc... In fact, remove anything PERSONAL DETAILS for experienced applications or individuals. It should only come in if the JD or job post says something about it, then you MUST include the info the employer wants. If age is very much on your side, please include it. For graduate trainees or fresh graduates younger than 26 years please include it. Employers love young graduates for Management Trainee or Fresh Graduate roles Others are self-explanatory. IN CONCLUSION... Never include on your CV anything that will not help you secure an INTERVIEW or the job with the company OR TAKE OUT anything that you cannot defend and would put you in bad light with the employer. This is my humble contribution PS: I am also hiring for a Personal Assistant (apart from the Business Analyst above) for a LAW FIRM. Candidate must be a fresh graduate and only OND HOLDERS are required for this position. I am shortlisting CVs tomorrow so deadline is tonight. Send CV to cv@acegoals.com |

Judithjovial:Lol @ Adsense money making procedure. Sorry to say, you got in for the money and may get frustrated easily |
Great article! I love seeing female bloggers But here is my take. Many bloggers, after being or working hard, have now resorted to working smart and earn massively from Adsense. Here's what is done: We blog for money and blog for brand. How? We have two or more blogs. One is specifically for the brand and heavily indexed and niched. The other is specifically for making the cash. You post a trending story go to Facebook advertise with Facebook ads. And one thing is, if you target well, your ROI should be 100℅ by the first week and up to 300℅ by the second or third week. BUT... Some bastardise a lot of things and resort to fake stories and porn and that circulates faster than the good stuff. So, if you see some blogs filled with ads... you probably got there because it was advertised on FB or the story was juicy and the ultimate aim is that you click an ad before you leave! |
Cooperate? Nice idea and a way to cut costs. |

A lot of men screaming 'Buhari this' 'Buhari that' has Buhari's mentality. The only difference is that they don't voice it out. Or they've not had the chance. But it's in their actions. In their talks. Their Behaviour. You know those type of men that will enter the bus, and ask you to enter inside(front seat), because they are men, they are supposed to sit at the window side. A woman you don't know from Adam. How does that kind of man treat his wife? Surely the wife belongs to the kitchen. Or the other room. Those men that don't like hanging out with their wives. They prefer the company of other men to their wives. The only time their wives get to meet with their friends, is when she's hosting them in their house. Those men that the opinion of their wives doesn't matter to them. They prevent them from talking especially in public. Their wife is inferior to them. The ones who their wives are only useful in bed. To make babies. Those very ones. They are everywhere. Around us and beside us. Here on social media. They have condemned Buhari of the very sin they are guilty of. It's not just coming from the president. It's coming from an African man. Being president hasn't changed his mindset. Because culture. Religion. Society. I recently heard some Muslim clerics asked the Muslim law makers to reject the equality bill. That it was against their Koran. Men according to them, are far superior to women; and they can't be equal. And they can't support such bills. Do you now understand Buhari? Buhari merely said what is in the mind of some men.[i don't want to use 'most'] . He's not alone on this. It then goes again to show us why we have few female appointments in Buhari's cabinet. Left for him, all women should go back to the kitchen and leave politics for men. And perhaps, just maybe Aisha has been advising him indoors, but because African man; her only area of expertise is the Kitchen. Even when she's damn right! And so are a lot of men. They rather follow the advice of others than their wives. Because she knows nothing other than rice. And beans. And akara. And children diaper. She shouldn't be meddling in men's affairs. Some women are not even left out. You are angry over what Buhari said, yet your husband does the exact to you at home. And you are forming feminist on social media. Please wake up! Buhari is not your problem. Your husband is. The ball still goes down to the court of women. While Aisha may not help the kind of man she married, and possibly you; you can help the kind of men and women your children will grow to be. Do you tell your female daughters, that irrespective of all their achievements, they are bound to end up in a man's kitchen? Words, actions shape children. And form a deep part of their core values, behaviour and belief system. This men who believes these came from a system. A culture which will be passed on to the next generation. Raise men to understand the importance of women in the society. It's not just cooking and making babies. As you are standing with girls, make sure you train your boys to appreciate the girls and their role in the society. We have gone beyond that kitchen and bedroom crap. Women are seen, heard and respected in all spheres of life..they don't just make History, they break historians records! When we get it right early enough, Hopefully the future won't be so bad. http://www.zubbysdiary.com/2016/10/the-woman-belongs-to-everywhere-but.html |
It is well o! |
Hmm. You shall surely find one. When a mod is kind enough to push this to front page. Maybe Lala dey wait for Sunday to come |
Hello Friend Last Saturday, I attended a youth gathering where we had extensive talk about the word 'LOVE'. It was really insightful. The climax of it for me was when a participant said: "LOVE is hard work". I took that home, reflected on it and drew out some exciting conclusions Love is hard work! Anything we, therefore, want to channel such love to can only be achieved with hard work John, do you love God? Work hard: study the scriptures, have a personal relationship with Him etc Do you love your spouse? Work hard at making that relationship work! Also... Do you love your career? Then you really need to work hard to make it work. You need to put lots of effort into it to succeed and live the 'God Career' life! You've got to add to yourself, work hard at your job and be the best you can be. Have you been doing something different recently that will improve your career? No? Never worry, there's always a good time to start Fortunately, I've put together 3 starting points via which you could kick off. 1. Acquire Skills Relevant skills! Check out the various vocational course training lined up by Daystar Skills Acquisition Programme . It's a good place to start. Tailors are set to excel this festive season. A simple app you create can earn you millions. There's no weekend Nigerians don't throw parties; photography and Make Up skills can come in handy here. Someone must wed every weekend as well. One way or the other, these skills may relate to your job or help you start off with self-employment 2. Get professional training/certification And get certified in it. Professional institutions like ICAN, CIPM, CIMN, CIS are available! Search the institution available for your field, register, study, write the exam and get certified. This gives you authority in the field you wish to operate. It's like a practitioner's licence. It is simply a boast and not a guaranty for success in your field, though. Like I said, these points are a kick start foundation for your career. 3. Read more and network with people in the same den Read! Read anything related to your field and don't get isolated. A man cannot plan his prosperity without the help of his community. Meet people (online or offline) in the same field. Commune and share ideas. Join relevant groups on LinkedIn and Facebook. Engage in discussions and solve real life issues. These are just start-offs. If you love your career, you would put work and time to excel in it, else, change careers and get something that you love even if it means starting small; a tree will not grow overnight! Well, John, I'll drop off my pen here until next time. But before I leave you, kindly send these 8 outlines written by a friend for anyone about to graduate or conclude the NYSC programme. It's a great resource for anyone set to begin a career or change careers. Thank you for reading Remain in the 'God Career' life |
