Homguy:I beg to disagree please. I have owned 2 Nissan cars in the past. One was a 2.0L '99 Primera SE, while the other was a 1.8L '05 Almera Tino, both were automatic. The two cars had one characteristic in common. They were both sluggish from start, especially in second gear. I thought it was the transmission that was bad in the Primera and was a bit worried. I even opened a thread here on NL to see if anyone could help then. https://www.nairaland.com/885475/need-new-gear-box-1999 But, I later found out that its a Nissan thing when I observed same thing in the Almera Tino. A friend of mine who owns both a Nissan Xterra and Rogue was arguing that I was wrong until he took my '01 2.0L European Honda Accord for a spin, ever since then he has come to agree that Nissan cars are sluggish from start but begins to perform very well when they shift into 3rd in Nissan cars with A/T. I am not saying all Nissan cars are like that o! Because I know they have performance/muscle/sports cars which I haven't had the opportunity to drive. But, for production passenger cars, I prefer me an Honda. They have got good acceleration from start which is something I look forward to in any car I'm behind the wheels. I like to rev the car to the max before it shifts gears and all the Nissan cars I've driven don't cut it for me. |
DGD1:I didn't know how to start myself. So, I rather asked for the colour of his problem to know if he actually needs help or is just trying to test is moniker on NL... |
remirez07:Please, what is the colour of your problem? As it stands, it seems as if your are sitting on a long thing. Lol... |
1. Recommending the use of Mobile 1 (0w40 graded) engine oil as the best oil for your car irrespective of what the manufacture recommends even when they (car manufacturer) had taken the pains to write the recommended oil all over the place... 2. Servicing your car injectors ( I wondered why @Siena did not remember this one. lol)... 3. Telling you to ignore warning signs on your dashboard that it is normal for a car to have such lights running and also saying that "those things na for oyibo people, e no dey work for Nigeria"... 4. Using 20w50 graded engine oil to service your car's engine against the car manufacturer's recommendation, while telling you that 'the recommended oil na for their weather wey cold, we for Nigeria na this one (20w50) na im everybody dey use. Na im I even use service Commissioner new jeep now now sef)... |
nurey:Not a fallacy. Its the truth. I currently drive a 2010 Honda Civic EX Coupé with a 1.8l engine. Guy, please pray not to meet me on the highway especially if you are driving a Toyota. I know where and how to get you. The Civic might be small both in body and engine capacity, but it is practically sharp and fast and packs a Lotta surprise when you underrate her... |
This is simple elementary economics. The higher the price, the lower the quantity demanded of the commodity. I believe there is also a close substitute because people would keep buying as far as they are living. Allafrica.com should have also gone ahead to investigate and inform readers of the close substitutes buyers are looking at or most likely to patronize as the main item here (used cars) continue to skyrocket pricewise... |
I pray this has a way of helping our local car manufacturing/assembly to grow, take shape & prosper... |
BTT:I quite agree with you on this submission. I've refuelled with Total Filling Stations over and over again in different states, cities and locations across the country and have never been disappointed. This includes: Elele and PH in Rivers State, along Akpakpava Road in Benin City, along Kashim Ibrahim Road in Old GRA, Makurdi, Benue State, at 9th mile and Odenigbo junction in Nsukka, Enugu State, in Calabar and I think Uyo, just to mention a few... |
chillex8:Lomomike no give am anything abeg, she bi him dey claim say im owe pass Dangote. Guy! Stop famzing and begging for wine. You know the drill na, enta Shoprite make you obtain things for yourself. Agbaya wey dey carry quarrel waka for town... |
@Gazzuz, please give him some lessons. I'm right on your trail on this one. Its very interesting and I want to follow through, step by step... |
Autosbay should be next... |
Run! Run!! Run!!! very far and fast as if the car itself is chasing you. That car is a bucket of troubles. If you don't believe me then google should be your neighbour. Thank me later, I'm used to saving lives lately... |
billy187:The view from the rear is even looking like a Toyota Siena and or Honda Odyssey. This SUV actually has no identity of its own. Its a jack of all trades, a coat of many colours. What a shame Honda... |
abatically:Where are the hard lines on the edges? Where is that muscular look that makes the Pilot look aggressive? Where is the boldness of my Pilot? In short, Honda where is my Pilot? |
I'm really disappointed in Honda, if this is truly the 2016 Pilot. I thought they were going boxy as in like Hummer & Jeep, giving the Pilot an aggressive, hard line, rugged look even though it is a soft ride SUV. This build design is just too feminine. What a shame. I feel like selling my Honda Pilot right now, even though it is a 2010 model... |
lomomike:Really informative. Noted. Thanks... Siena:Quite educative. Noted. Thanks... You guys have not shed light on my second question... My problem with most 'Fulkanizas' is that before you say Jack, they have already inflated your tyre to 50psi, especially when you drop the tyre with them to come pick it up later. Is it okay for them to over-inflate the tyre and then deflate it a little to arrive at the recommended psi? In my opinion, its as if they push the tyre beyond its boundary, weakening the threads and the tyre before deflating it to the required psi, which would in turn lead to bad tyres and continued visit to the Fulkaniza. What do you guys think? |
I bought 6 Honda dw1 ATFs from Jumia.com to service the gearbox of my Acura TL before passing it on to a relation. I'm not quite sure again as its been a while now, but I think the container you posted here is quite different from what I bought. I'd advise that you go to either jumia.com or konga.com and look it up to see if that is what obtains now. But, you know na, so those spare parts boys go always tell you say na the original one for Naija be this. Make you forget that other one, na for Oyibo people... |
Most tyres I have used recommends not exceeding 44psi. So most times I go with the tyre manufacturer's recommendations rather than that by the car manufacturer. I always ensure that no tyre is inflated beyond 40psi. I don't know if this is a good practice? My problem with most 'Fulkanizas' is that before you say Jack, they have already inflated your tyre to 50psi, especially when you drop the tyre with them to come pick it up later. Is it okay for them to over-inflate the tyre and then deflate it a little to arrive at the recommended psi? In my opinion, its as if they push the tyre beyond its boundary, weakening the threads and the tyre before deflating it to the required psi, which would in turn lead to bad tyres and continued visit to the Fulkaniza. The worst vehicle I have driven so far is a 2005 Nissan Almera Tino with automatic transmission and 1.8l engine. When I read the reviews of the vehicle before buying it for my wife, I thought it would be something exciting. Alas, I was seriously disappointed as the vehicle was so sluggish that my wife who is driving for the first time ever in her life complained of the car being sluggish, especially from start. But it changes gear fast and picks up once its gone beyond the third gear. I rarely overtake or make quick sharp overtaking when driving this vehicle. I'm a speed demon who love cars with very good acceleration and this car sabi fall person hands die for the acceleration matter. We had to sell the car out after 2 years, though it was in crispy top shape. For the sake of this vehicle, I lost any interest in Nissan cars. The Tino wasn't my first Nissan car, I had previously owned a 1999 Primera SE with a slightly bigger 2.0l engine whose performance was only slightly better than the Tino, but could never rival my former Honda Prelude with a 2.0l engine and my Benz 190E with 2.0l engine. I think Nissans are generally the worst cars I've driven.. |
depair:Do Jumia or Konga and you are good. On the other hand just google 5w30 in Nigeria and you will get a list of stores near you. Thanks for thanking me in advance. Lol. |
I had a similar experience, which went thus: A friend of mine bought a 2004 Toyota Highlander and was to go in for the first oil change. He came to me with the car to discuss choice of oil for "his machine" (according to him), so I simply looked at the oil refill cap and showed him that 5w30 is the recommended oil for his car. What was written on the cap was API..., SN..., 5w30..., etc, so I advised him to buy any 5w30 rated oil and he left. Days later, he called me while I was away in Port Harcourt that he couldn't get the oil in the town we reside so I should help him buy it from PH. I agreed and went about looking for the oil, only for him to call me and say I shouldn't worry again and naturally, I asked why. He said Kazeem told him he is an experienced mecho for over 15years and that he (Kazeem) knows the Highlander more than Toyota and as such my friend should use any oil that SN is written on it, no matter the weight and as such, he is going to buy Mobil xhp, which is rated 20w50 based on Kazeem's recommendations. I laughed it off and wished him good luck. For the second oil change, I was surprised when he insisted on going with the manufacturer's recommendations. When I asked why? He was like how can an illiterate (Kazeem) tell him (an educated person) that he (Kazeem) knows highlander better than Toyota and is giving him his own recommendations for a vehicle he barely knew why they made it. He was also like, the manufacturer would not waste their time, money and resources to print a recommendation on the oil refill cap if they (Toyota) don't know it is important for smooth running and operation of the vehicle. |
drlawizle:EoD? That was a car I used way back when you were still hustling your parents for school fees. Its a pity that you don't even know the peeps here on cartalk. You went through my profile and saw my first car and came back yarning gibberish. Go back to my previous posts and you'll know that I'm way above your class. Its a pity that you couldn't even buy a fairly used car, you only managed to get a Nigerian used car and you are here bragging... |
disloman:Where I stand is clear. Drlawizle just irked me some and I had to let him understand that he is not even in the middle class yet, even though he is famzing all this what nots. That he is lying and still forming on top the lies. May be im think say na jobless peeps and lowlifes like am dey NL. He no know say some guys for here owe pepper tight reach their teeth... |
lomomike:I told ya the guy is a wannabe. He's a complete jerk. People who could buy or are using such cars he's been about would never sound like him. I know their type, all breeze and no substance. @lomomike, I don tell you before say make you no mind the mofo. Na empty gongs dey make noise pass... |
drlawizle:This is better. I wasn't really pleased at the way you were hitting on lomomike, so I had to come in to let you know that driving a Japmobile or a European/American car might be a thing of choice for some peeps and not necessarily because of finance. We all wish to own cars that would best serve us the way we want with little or no trouble, be it American/European, Japanese, Korean or even China. Even the super rich won't want to be disturbing themselves over the maintenance of a car instead of minding more fulfilling issues. I have seen where someone set his Hummer 3 ablaze for giving him too much headache. |
lonelydora:Okay. Thanks. I just learnt a new one and now I know... |
drlawizle:I'm a mo.ron? Yes, according to you. You are not a mo.ron, yet you belong to the same forum I belong to. You are not a mo.ron, yet you've taken time and resources out to mention and quote a mo.ron. Who is more moronic? According to OBJ, I dey laugh o!!! |
drlawizle:What is Wizkid? Is it the name of a fish? Please, does Dangote or Carlos Slim drive a Ferrari? Mike Tyson was worth tens of millions in dollars, flaunted it while he was rich. Can he do same today? Daniel Amokachi was the first Nigerian celeb to buy a private jet. Today, he has to keep talking and getting chased away from one Nigerian football club to another just to feed self and family. You are just a wannabe that may never get there. We don't brag when we make it, we just ball... |
drlawizle:I'm sure you don't even own the cheapest car, not to talk of a Toyota... |
drlawizle:Even the lad that owns Facebook drives a Japmobile (an Acura TL). So what's that your point again? |
lomomike:Please, don't bother yourself with that mofo jare. He probably has never bought a car, even Nigerian used scrap in his entire life before and he's trying to pour his frustrations and vituperations on you. I have always maintained that people that can do, don't brag, they just do. But, the lowlifes will always brag and make noise about things they heard about and have never ever seen. drlawizle:Europeans and Americans are the biggest consumers of japmoblies. Yes, I'm a broke azz nigger, but I have never come to you for a ride. There is a level for everybody and being a Nigerian motorist who bought his car with his hard earned cash, not some Government guaranteed loan or financing, I would also be in the middle class in your so-called America or Europe. So, what's your point again anyway? |
