Car Talk › Re: Valve Adjustment On The Honda J Series Engine by FlyboyZee: 9:31am On Oct 14, 2015 |
GAZZUZZ: If you have a slight tapping noise on your Jseries honda accord engine the most likely culprit could be the valve clearance. It is recommended you do a valve clearance adjustment every 15,000miles.
Before starting, ensure you have equiped your self with a set of valve cover or rocker arm gaskets, to avoid oil leaks after the proceedure.
It requires opening the valve cover and using a filler guage to readjust the valves.
Pics below.
Insert the feeler gauge (A) between the adjusting screw and the end of the valve stem on No. 1 cylinder, and slide it back and forth; you should feel a slight amount of drag.

The valve clearance can also cause the code P0174 and P0171 (lean mixture)
You can read up more here about the problem
Add http to the link ://www.driveaccord.net/forums/23-2004-honda-accord-instructions/6718-v6-valve-adjustment.html I think I can hear that tapping sound when I start my car. Most mechanics I have shown it to or discussed with seems to think its the adjuster that needs replacement. The car is a 2009 Honda Civic EX Coupé. What do you think I should do? |

misspicy: Gold digger is a derogatory name for a person who cultivates a personal relationship in order to attain money. The accusation of being a gold digger is usually aimed at a woman who is with a man only because she wants his money.
Now the above is the literal meaning of gold digger according to google,it is even a common case in our present day Nigeria that it sometimes feels okay or normal, because of the alpha male gene most men possess, they feel they should provide for the female folk, even though it is not right but the abnormal thing gradually becoming a trend now is the male gold digger
A male that makes it a point to be noticed via expensive material possessions Charismatic and charming, easily able to manipulate funds from empathetic souls.(women). Rarely works, have a sense of entitlement, lacks close peers and devoid of family. Steer clear of them. if its too good to be true it probably is.
was in a relationship with a MALE GOLD DIGGER,i cook his food, pay for his upkeep even things as little as haircut,he gets monthly allowance from me too,guy always blackmailing me with breakup if i complain, well i later got my freedom though i ended the whole thing and guy still calling till date
So guys have you come across a male gold digger? How did you handle the situationship

helinues: Barely 48 hours to September 30, the deadline given by President Muhammadu Buhari, to release the list of his long-awaited ministerial nominees, the social media was again abuzz on Monday, with a list of politicians and technocrats who are speculated to make the ministerial nominees to be sent to the Senate tomorrow.
However, this list is not an official list from the Presidency. Again, this is not likely the real list because some names such as that of Dr Kayode Fayemi, Femi Falana and Engineer Segun Oni are all from Ekiti State. According to the constitution, the President must appoint a minister from each state.
Here is the list:
Prof. Tam David West Femi Falana (SAN) Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazu (rtd) Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola Wale Edun Abubakar Malami (SAN). Mrs. Ifueko Omoigui-Okaru Chief Bode Mustapha Engineer Segun Oni Dr Kayode Fayemi Dr. Abba Ruma Chief Kanu Agabi Donald Duke Babatunde Raji Fashola Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi Rotimi Akeredolu Rabiu Musa Kwankwanso Festus Odimegwu Engineer Funsho Kupolokun Yinka Folashade Oredola Bisola Adegbenro Isaiah Danjuma (son of TY Danjuma) Dele Momodu Kehinde Lawanson Chief Bayo Ojo (SAN) Pat Utomi Charles Chukwuma Soludo

Step 3: Go to the front of the car and observe whether the fans start working immediately or not. Decision Rule: If the fans start working immediately you start the car first thing in the morning (at cold start), know that the car's thermostat has been removed. If on the other hand, the fans do not come on immediately at cold start (that is, if it took some time after cold start before the fans come on), then you are safe. That means your car's thermostat is still intact. What did you observe? so that others can learn? At least this is one of the easiest and no-frills way to find out... |

While the ML the OP bought is from the 1998-2005 generation stock. I don't see how that is a downgrade. Secondly, moving from a Toyota to a Mercedes Benz has always been an upgrade. I still keep wondering why you are thinking it is a downgrade. Thirdly, from a mid size sedan to a mid size SUV definitely smirks of an upgrade, even to the blind, deaf and dumb. adanny01: On maintenance, i prefer buying Honda ball joints which are far cheaper than buying Toyota shock absorbers which is the common problem of toyota. Almost every friend i have with Toyota has changed shocks at one point or multiple times.
Fuel consumption of Civic is same class with Corolla but Civic has better acceleration. You should not be comparing fuel consumption of 2.4l Accord to 1.6 ot 1.8l corolla engines.
Anyone who choses fuel economy should not complain when he has been dusted or compete with suprerior cars. You cant eat your cake and have it, you choose. Spot on. Thanks for reiterating my point. All this 'my Toyota est fantastique' boys won't allow people to even reason again. Lol. Its only in Nigeria and Nigerians that feel the Accord is in same class as the Corolla. PrinceDave001: I personally prefer the Hyundai elantra or the corolla,I would have gone with the 2007 accord but I can't keep having the fear of ball joints I have been having though it has never happened to my 1999 accord. Am also aware of the ecu problem for the 2001-2005 rav4 models. Guess I'll go for either the 2009 elantra or the corolla although the rav4 is still tempting. I will still appreciate more views especially from users of these cars. If you buy either the Corolla, Elantra or Rav4, be it known that you are downgrading. Don't expect performance to be up to scratch, because you'll definitely be comparing them with the Accord too just ditch and would find out that the Accord is way above their class. I'm speaking from experience. I downgraded from a 2002 Acura TL Type S to a 2010 Honda Civic Coupé and am testifying that I miss the TL like I've lost a part of me. You'll most definitely regret if you downgrade because the feel, handling and road presence of the Accord is incomparable to any of those other cars. If you had thrown a Camry in the mix, I'd have suggested 2 options for you, but as it stands right now, the Accord would do you more good... |

TheRealGEJ: Thanks all for your comments so far. It's not that I'm only interested in swapping of cars. It's just that recently I started reading more on cars on nairaland and feels honda cars are a bit problematic hence I'm scared because I don't want to go through major repairs again at least for now. Hence I'm asking if I should swap it for a Toyota or stick with the Honda since I've changed the engine . Thanks all for you comments If you swap your EoD for the Corolla, two things are certain. 1. You will miss the acceleration, plushness, comfy, sturdiness and performance of the Honda 2. You will be buying less fuel. There are lots of peeps on this forum who have followed 'the buy Corolla Syndrome' only to find out that it is everything they do not want in a car. If you have driven (as in used an Honda, a EoD at that) before, the Corolla would be the last car I would advise you to buy. You may think Honda is a problematic car, but by the time you downgrade to the Corolla, you would find out that you would prefer the Honda and its so-called problem to the Corolla a hundred times over. If you must drive a Toyota, I suggest you manage a Camry as that would give you the closest feel you use to enjoy in the Honda. #JustMyTwoCentsAnyways# |
