take tyme to read ur previous post n relate it to what i wrote.u will see.
There is nothing to relate there. I said follow manufacturer's recommendations as strictly as you can. Don't use a 20W50 engine oil when a 5W20 is the recommended oil. Don't use a CVTf when a DW is recommended. I also remembered stressing on using recommended oil even if its not synthetic. I'm still asking you if there is anything wrong with what I've posted earlier.

disloman:
I'm not saying its wrong u sticking to d manufacturer's recommendation but pls understand what is written in d manual.
Gazzuz just gave an e-copy of parts of the manual of which I have the booklets and have even gone ahead to upload live pix of oil life from 2 Honda vehicles.

Please, I still don't get what I posted that's irked you so much...

Pls,can u do us a favour?go n read d manual n comprehend what was written b4 u comment.Maintenance light gat nothing to do with d type of engine oil u use.just to indicate ur car will need to b service.period.
Please, do you have a problem with me advising the OP and all other car owners to stick to the manufacturer's recommendations? I don't get it. What's your point again?

My bad! I never knew its wrong to stick to manufacturer's recommendations.
Car TalkRe: My Experience With Check VSC System Warning Indication On My 2007 Camryxle V6 by FlyboyZee: 12:29pm On Feb 02, 2015
The VSC light came on in a friend's Lexus RX 330. The owner did not understand and after a while the same thing the OP observed was noticed with the car. He complained of the vehicle losing power and regaining it after a while and was at a loss about what to do as the Owner's Manual only recommends that the car be taken to a Toyota or Lexus dealership to take care of the problem and there is none in the town we live and he is scared to hell to try Rasheed, the roadside guy. Thanks OP for this thread, I'll ask my friend to take a look at this thread.

I do not totaly agree with you, the light is designed to light up after the car has covered a certain maieage, if you like pour palm oil inside ur crank case the light will only come up when you have covered that distance.
I'm not sure about that. But, what I tell anyone who cares to know or ask is to stick to manufacturer's recommendation because no manufacturer would spend extra money to print instructions in a literature or on certain parts of the car if it is not important. If him like make e use water, after all Na I'm car no be my own...

I serviced the car on 25th dec 2014,i hv only driven the car 5 times as i have another car,the car has been ok,the light came up few minutes after filling my tank in a gas station.
If you did not use the oil recommended for your car by its manufacturer, even if you reset it, the indicator would still come on again. Whether Synthetic or not, just stick to the car manufacturer's recommendation and do a reset after that and it will take a longer time before the light appears again depending on what the manufacturer has programmed for it...

This a true experience talking. Its neither an APC or PDP thing. It is a Nigerian thing and there is nothing anyone can do to stop it. Its part of our political life as a nation.

That is a lie. In Bayelsa, the APC paid N2000 and paid N5000 in Rivers state for all their rallies. They even share rice and other foodstuffs just like the PDP. I know you don't attend political rallies and don't know what Nigerian politicians call "MOBILIZATION". Stop deceiving people if you don't know what happens in all those rallies. Be it APC or PDP.
PoliticsRe: Parties Pay Supporters N2,000 Each To Attend Rallies by FlyboyZee: 10:45am On Feb 01, 2015
How far would you go, Punch Newspaper? In Bayelsa, the APC paid everybody you see gathering there N2000, but one of the APC stalwarts in the State diverted the money to his personal use.

The Punch has tacitly and tactical carved the PDP as the culprits while painting the APC as saintly again. No matter what you write or publish, we know the truth that all political parties are guilty of this charge.

In Rivers state, it is an issue of who pays more money and since Amaechi is the Governor, he has been paying heavily as much as N5000 per individual. The Punch you are biased and being sponsored by the APC and that we know. You have joined the ilk of PremiumTimes and Osun Defenders shitty journalism. Shame on you and füçk your ragtag...

koikoi2:
So she made a plunder in her post on twitter and blame it PDP, she will soon make a mistake in her exam answer booklet in her school and say PDP hacked into my answer booklet.
Fo0l!!!!
Don't mind them jare. Its only f00ls that would believe that tweet. The OP sounds like a Lai Mohammed's rant. The APC are not leaving any stones unturned in this their name calling, blame dropping & hate speech game.

Haba! WTF is even this Zahra self. I'm of the opinion that this Zahra account and the previous one are all APC's machination at hoodwinking unsuspecting youths who are falling over themselves as f00ls as soon as a beautiful woman pix surfaces as Buhari's daughter.

Haba! Ja ma ha!! Where was this so-called Zahra when her father was contesting and loosing all this while. Though Zahra may be a name of one of GMB's daughters, but all those Zahra Twitter accounts are fictitious. It is just a campaign gimmick.

If GMB is the kind of decent man as they would want to make us believe, he would have long reigned in Zahra, if she is his daughter. No sane man allows his children to come and join in adult fights or games. No right thinking man would allow his children to be exposed in this our Nigerian brand of delirious politics. Every contestant right now has tucked away their families in the safest of places ever imaginable. Moreover, is she the only child of GMB? Why are the others quite and not ranting in a Lai Mohammed's style on social media? The deceit is just too much, please wake up.

Please, be wise. They'll come in any way & form to deceive you just to get there without any intention of doing anything good or meaningful for the country and you, yes, you in particular.

Calm down and read through the entire topic! "Paint you black" how?

I simply emphasized a sentence from your post. I happen to agree with you, as you can see from my previous post. I bolded your statement because in my earlier post I failed to write "whichever comes first" as I assumed most people know this. It is clear from the follow up questions that we should make no such assumptions. My response was more clearly directed @anochuks08 who asked about 1 year and 5000 miles.
Okay! Dearie. No probs. Maybe I misunderstood you. Its all good.

zinaLPF:
Time or mileage, WHICHEVER COMES FIRST. Please Do NOT leave engine oil in your car for 1 year because you have not hit 3000 miles! That is key, especially in Nigeria where people drive short distances, over rough terrain and sit in traffic for long stretches. In Lagos, I average 6000 miles per year; in the US, I average 18,000 miles per year. In Lagos I use time (3 months), in the US I use mileage (5000 miles). In both cases, I average 3 - 4 oil (and filter) changes per year. Simple. No car wahala.

House experts, if I may make a suggestion? Seems like we have a lot of people who do not really understand the basics of vehicle use and maintenance. Would be really cool to have a simple vehicle maintenance topic pinned to the Car Talk landing page. Nothing fancy, just explaining oil changes, manufacturer recommended maintenance schedules (and where to find and print them) etc. Reading through a lot of comments, it is clear that 1. Folks mix up maintenance / service with oil changes, and 2. Folks either do not read their manuals or do not have manuals! Perhaps that may explain why we have so many requests for new engines etc.
Guy! What are you saying? You are only rephrasing my post and still trying to paint me black. Hian!

Did I say anything about leaving oil in a car for 1 year? I clearly said "TOYOTA RECOMMENDS... 6 MONTHS OR 5,000 KM, WHICHEVER COMES FIRST". For those who don't understand, it simply means change your car's oil and filter when you have driven the car for about 5,000 kms or if you haven't achieved that mileage by 6 months, please change your oil and filter.

Honda advises that you change your engine oil every year if the oil change reminder fails to come on after the last servicing. Recent Honda cars have their engine oil change reminders set at 10,000 km and as such would keep showing you the oil life in percentage. I use that to do my servicing and resets the reminder after servicing and it has always been 10,000 km. I also use the recommended 5w20 oil to avoid complications. I have attached snapshots of 2 Honda cars, a Pilot and a Civic as well as a pix of the relevant page to let you know I know what I am saying. When I get to the Office tomorrow, I'll update with a pix of Toyota recommendation from the manual.

I recently changed the battery of my Honda Civic and since then the radio and tape has not been working. Please can anybody recommend someone who can help me fix it in Ibadan. Thanks
There is no fixing to be done here, all you need is the code to unlock your radio. The code should be somewhere in the car or in the vehicle documents as in user manual and stuff.

Same thing dey disturb me sef, I do city driving and I don't even cover up to 5000 miles in 1 year. My question is should I wait to reach the 5000 miles even if it takes more than 1 year? or just change after like every 3 months? Car is 1999 camry, 4 cylinder engine.
To me every 6 months or 2000km is not bad since it is a 15 years old car. Otherwise, Toyota recommends 10,000km or 6 months for most of their brand new vehicles but they however advise that after 100,000km, servicing should be done at 5,000km or 6 months intervals, whichever comes first. But, I usually suggest 2,000km for most used car owners since you don't know for sure whether the initial owner has followed the manufacturer's instructions to the later.

Car TalkRe: Why Do Some People Buy Cars And Decide To Sell It In Less Than 1 Year Of Useage? by FlyboyZee: 12:44pm On Jan 26, 2015
From my own experience, I buy and sell a particular car from people's perception. Almost everyone saying something about a car being hot and all the ish. I buy the car and finds out that it is just a pile of metal on wheels and there is absolutely nothing in it to excite me. Kaboom! Off it goes to the market and subsequently to its next owner.

After about 2 or 3 tries, I stopped that and started buying cars that tip my fancy. I also have another problem. I don't intend to buy and use any used car for more than 3 years. So, I usually sell off most used cars I bought after 2 years or thereabouts and brand new cars for not more than 6 years, mostly 5 years.
PoliticsRe: Ambassador Dumps PDP For APC In Bayelsa by FlyboyZee: 9:52am On Jan 24, 2015
Who is Felix Oboro?
He is a nobody in Bayelsa Politics. The only popular person in the whole APC line up in Bayelsa is Sylva and he doesn't even have the weight of paper. Come to Bayelsa and ask anybody of Felix Oboro if they even know him. Bunch of losers acting as if they have anything to be reckoned with.

In Bayelsa politics, once you are in power, you hold all the aces, every other ex is dead and buried and of no relevance as far as they are concerned. You guys should stop blowing things out of proportion as if something is happening when nothing happened. In essence, Mr Felix Oboro is dead and buried in Bayelsa politics and as such has no weight to even garner a second vote apart from his own one vote.

Car TalkRe: United States Versus Nigerian Presidential Car by FlyboyZee: 8:58am On Jan 23, 2015
lomomike:
Its actually lower than that. Nigerian presidential official car is bullet proof bespoke, so the added weight and security proofing will show in its MPG

Since the presidential official car is bearing extra mass, its engine will experience serious tuning to up its power and torque so as to effectively carry its burden.

Gotcha! So you went to read edmunds.com USED price list for 2012 S class. Sorry bro, Nigerian presidents Never used a USED official car. Their cars are all brand new. The unamoured version of the 2012 s class goes for MSRP: $92,550 - $159,500 brand new. But wait, I said the presidential official car is amoured. It could easily rise to $1m to get a B6+ and above amour rating.

Nb: b6+ is the highest amour rating for civilians. A president can easily get a B7 (multi-shot)NIJ: IV+ rating.

Read B6+ amouring in cars. But I can tell you, a lot of things aren't listed. Those you list are even found in a 2008 camry and in an E class 2010 its almost standard so therefore an S class is more tech savvy from factory with all the bells and whistles blowing, not to mention when the car is amoured.

Its got its amour and bevy of safety plus its evacuation tools to the tip so its got extra weight, higher 0-60mph dash.
For an amoured car, its top end speed has been deactivated. For the non amoured V12 S600 it could easily do 250km/hr if delimited.

This blog no do correct research. Na half baked research the owner do.
The picture of the Mercedes you uploaded is actually a 2014-2015 mercedes S class and not a 2012 S class. Below is a 2012 S class

The guys in PH successfully removed most of the tint except those parts I circled in th pix without damaging the back windscreen defogger.
