spyder880: Columns are needed to bear the weight of other addition that you might decide to load on the building. Some roof types like the stone coated tiles with very high pitch and roof mounted tanks for water could be of substantial weight. Thanks baba, this one is not stone coated roof o. I am using longspan Alum. |

Rubbiish: Pillar is good for bungalow, it adds to the stability, but it is not compulsory. But if your bungalow is a large one like that of egunmogaji, covering large area, it is advisable u use columns. The idea of using pillars for bungalows was born out due to the nature of our blocks, where u have a bag producing 70blocks. If u have considerable strong blocks, u can build your bungalow with blocks. Except u intend doing a parapet. Thank you. No parapet, moulding my blocks @ a bag/35 for a 4 units of miniflats. |

Folks, I have been trying to pull out the thread where pillar or no pillar is needed for a bungalow. Am referring to the one at the edges/ middle of the building not the extended one attached to the lintel and protruded for fancy designs. Do we really need it? I tried to check abdulwastex Suleja project to be sure.
Oya my ogas!

hankMacoy: I've got awesome insights from this thread. These questions below borders on Sponsor Your sponsor relationship influences whether you'll get visa or not. Right? My sponsor is my uncle who does not bear same family name with me. Will that be harmful to my F-1 visa prospects? They prefer family fund to fund from someone whom they are not sure your relationship with. My sponsor is my uncle and doesn't bear same surname with me. Will that hamper my chances? Read the penultimate transcript of visa interview on this page and come back to thank me. |

Kukaman: Hello house, many thanks for your good works. A friend of mine was refused on 11th December, 2017. No vivid clue on why she was refused perhaps cos she had no traveling experience which was asked among other questions like are you married? Do you have kids? Why this school blah blah blah. Priory to her interview, I gave her transcripts on here which she practiced very well, I conducted a couple of mock interviews for her and apparently I saw the confidence in her though don't know where and how she messed up. However, she told me many students were refused that that, say 1 person was granted out of like 50. Now she's filling her form again and she asked me what to put on her reason for refusal. Secondly the name of the school she got admission is Webster University. Please house, could you be of help? Why don't you tell her to come to the forum herself. Doing that, she can post her full transcripts herself and get positive/constructive criticism. 3rd party accounts get as e be o. Was she there to count people or what? . If 1 million people go there and couldn't justify their intentions, they would all be denied. NO reason given.: however, the only reason in the blue paper will tell her she didn't justify she is a genuine student/ she is a potential immigrant because there is no demonstration of home ties. Many students that have no travel history got their visa and many with travel history equally got denied. She must demonstrate her true intention. |

Naughtyvirgin: Hello sanctus1, noticed ur visa was delayed on dec 14th. You studied Biochemistry and also was going for another B.sc in Med.lab ..please what was the Chinese American opinion about your application and your switch of majors?? Bross, why are you worrying yourself like this. You should be able to defend yourself with a change of course and going back for another degree. Am sure the VO will listen to you. The next question will then be how convincing are you with your intention. We have seen people here that did it and got visa and vice versa. Am just imagining your confidence level with your myriad of questions. You will get worried more before you go for the interview and that can be a bad omen on your intention. |

Coloniel5000: Hello gurus in the house, I would appreciate if you'd answer this for me.
I got admitted to WIU no funding yet but I'm about applying. the former graduate coordinator once told me they don't giving GA positions to new graduate students during their first semester but as from second semester upward.
can I handle the expenses for that first semester, while I work hard to get a funding by the second semester?
am putting this forward to hear your opinions because I didn't apply to any other school safe WIU. This question is better answered by yourself. However, go to that school website, check the tuition fee and living expenses. Calculate your tuition with number of hours you will do and add your living expenses +medical. Whatever you get, ask yourself the above question. |

LagosismyHome: This statement always annoys me .............. . For a lot of Nigerians, English is our native language . There are so many Nigerians i know that only speak one language called english Yes, there are many Nigerians that use English as their first language. However, compare that number to those who can't use it and those that can with limited proficiency even after attending schools up to high schools and universities. While it's also true that there are many Nigerians that have a better command of the language than the native speakers, Nigerians remain non natives. South Africans are classified as natives even though they have other language that they speak. World politics and arbitrary can't be discarded. Europeans with exceptions from the British (UK and it environs in general) are also non natives, even some of them use the language. World Englishes To better understand the use of English in different countries, Kachru conceived the idea of three concentric circles of the language. The inner circle represents the traditional bases of English: the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, anglophone Canada, and some of the Caribbean territories. The total number of English speakers in the inner circle is as high as 380 million, of whom some 120 million are outside the United States. Next comes the outer circle, which includes countries where English is not the native tongue, but is important for historical reasons and plays a part in the nation's institutions, either as an official language or otherwise. This circle includes India, Nigeria, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Malaysia, Tanzania, Kenya. The total number of English speakers in the outer circle is estimated to range from 150 million to 300 million. Finally, the expanding circle encompasses those countries where English plays no historical or governmental role, but where it is nevertheless widely used as a foreign language or lingua franca. This includes much of the rest of the world's population: China, Russia, Japan, most of Europe, Korea, Egypt, Indonesia, etc. The total in this expanding circle is the most difficult to estimate, especially because English may be employed for specific, limited purposes, usually business English. The estimates of these users range from 100 million to one billion.
The inner circle (UK, US, etc.) is 'norm-providing'. That means that English language norms are developed in these countries – English is the first language there. The outer circle (mainly New Commonwealth countries) is ' norm-developing'. The expanding circle (much of the rest of the world) is 'norm-dependent', because it relies on the standards set by native speakers in the inner circle. |
