Lying machine is on it again. Arik air operates 18 destination which includes Ghana, Liberia and Senegal. It will resume it flight to London, NY and Dubai soon. While Air peace fly to Accra, Freetown, Banjul, Dakar, Monrovia and to Dubai via Sharjah International Airport and connect to 23 other destinations. But you want to compare jamboree airline with just seven destinations?

Is it the size, Age, standard of living, economic opportunities, institutions, roads or what?
IBADAN Cocoa house is the H/Q office of Odua investment limited and other big companies. Ibadan has more than 41 institutions, more paved roads than Aba, Onitsha and Owerri, and the standard of living is far better than any city in Nigeria.

Politics › Re: Seven (7) Most Developed Cities In Nigeria. In Order Of Development IMHO by forgiveness: 1:06pm On Apr 21, 2020 |
manchy7531: You obviously don’t travel. Going by your analysis, Aba and Onitsha are obviously more developed than Enugu,Ibadan and kaduna. With the volume of economic activities, concentration of building/real estate and population density, Enugu, Kaduna and Ibadan don’t come close to Aba and Onitsha.
As an Afonja, the key aim of this thread is obviously to rate Ibadan ahead of Enugu, but from the back door. However, man can see through your deception.
Owerri, Benin and Asaba will even trump Ibadan, going by your city standards measurement. Ibadan may only be bigger in size but doesn’t come close. Asaba and owerri have functioning and active airports man. Ibadan can’t sustain its and instead filled with largely uneducated, hungry, poverty stricken populace.
Ibadan is only big but 95% mostly local and slum. The remaining 5% doesn’t compare to Enugu in anyway.
Aba’s infrastructure may have been neglected but you cant underrate Aba. Aba is not different from some cities in mainland Lagos.
Don’t even compare onitsha to IB. Onitsha is the second most densely populated city in Nigeria after Lagos.
Finally, CBN rated Lagos, Kano, Rivers, Anambra and Abia as states with the most volume of economic activity. Not Oyo, Ogun or even Abuja. Which real estate are in Aba & Onitsha? Bhuhahahaha! Ibadan is far developed than any city in Nigeria save Abuja, Lagos, Ikeja and Port Harcourt. The rest are below the pecking order. |

This you know. Besides the land mass of Lagos is the least in Nigeria after Anambra I guess. you'd have to strain your eyes to see its shape properly. Hence when talking about Lagos, You just generalise. Besides all parts of Lagos are somewhat developed so kilode? Remember a place needs a good amount of land mass to qualify as a city too. Lagos is both a state and a city Lagos has cities and Badagry, Epe, Ojo and Ikorodu are towns within Lagos state while Lagos, Ikeja, Lekki and Eko Atlantic city are cities within Lagos. |

Try and get this in your head. Was it the capital of South protectorate in 1899 when railway, tramway, banks, electricity, street lights, telephone, bridges (Carter bridge), Newspaper publishing houses, paved roads, seaport etc were already built in Lagos without SE, SS and Northern people and resources? selemempe: liar and slave.
When the British annexed Lagos in 1861 there was nothing like towns...it was just an outpost of Benin kingdom. There was no development. The then oba was paying taxes to Benin king and there was not up to 1000 people living in Lagos then. It was a town with schools (Baptist Academy 1855 & CMS grammar school 1859, etc) bar (Iloja bar built in 1855), Oba palace (Refurbished by Portuguese in 18th), British Consulate office, trade, Portuguese traders in Campos square (known as Portuguese quarters), etc and population was 30,000 in 1859. Snapshots. It took British effort to turn it into something. There were not very interested in using yoruba labor because they felt the natives were not very civilised and can't speak English so they resettled returning slaves either in Freetown or in Lagos and these returning slaves (who can be of any tribe) were the labor used to build both Freetown and Lagos British didn't resettle the slaves that arrived from Bahia in 1835. They were deported by the Brazilian authority due to the Male (Yoruba word for Islam) revolt, and they are Yorubas. Kpom Colonial Lagos developed into a busy, cosmopolitan port, with an architecture that blended Victorian and Brazilian styles. The Brazilian element was imparted by skilled builders and masons who had returned from Brazil. The black elite was composed of English-speaking "Saros" from Sierra Leone and other emancipated slaves who had been repatriated from Brazil and Cubawhich yoruba man was governor when all these were being built.... It doesn't change the fact that no one kobo of SE, SS & North was used to build those infrastructures. Fact Yoruba have always been opportunists... everything you guys have ever gotten has been because of the sweat or misfortune of another person. You can never stand on your own...that is why regardless of everything you have today, none of you Afonjas ever talk about independence from Nigeria Did you build Oyo Empire for Yorubas? Lagos developed as at 1900 without the misfortune or sweat of SE, SS & North. Fact

Redcrafton: No single SE or Northern were in Lagos as at 1900 because they were yet to be annexed to the British. War was still going on.
See for yourself.... My point still stands. Lagos had telephone (1886), new paper publication house (1896), Banks (1894 & 1899), electricity (1896), Tramway system (1901), carter bridge (1901), Lagos - Ibadan train (1900), paved roads with cars etc before other tribes stepped a foot in Lagos as at 19001, and only SW money was used to accomplish these, not SS, SE nor Northerner money Show me 1900 immigrant stats. |
