Joebie: It’s not an upgrade. Two different things even from your own description.
Modified Let me add, the meaning of the word, upgrade
Even if you have one, there is still a need for the other, of course depending on the size of the airport. The Cairo airport is huge. The 2nd largest in Africa I believe.
Oga, don't come and start twisting grammar as If I no go school. Upgrade simply means better in that context.
Abuja airport rail link is better than Cairo 1km airport shuttle. Gbam.
Cairo Egypt will choose rail link ahead of that mover if they have the the money.
wayodude: When you say Abuja airport is far better than all airports in subsahran Africa I hope you are not including North Africa in your definition of sub Saharan Africa. But if you're a not then what's the point of the statement?
I was in Cairo in 2016. Getting from the airport to the Zamalek area is a long drive and there is no rail link. This is true.
To cut it all short, in terms of all infrastructure required to host a 24 team AFCON Egypt are in a much better position to make a success of it with 6 months planning than Naija.
Currently, Casablanca international airport in Morocco, Mauritius international airport and Durban international airport are the best in Africa in the over 2m passengers per year category according to ACI rating.
Remember, Casablanca international airport has rail link long and some other facilities that gave it good rating. However, Abuja international airport that was rated the best in safety category by the same ACI has now added rail link, new terminal and hotel to its facilities.
Don't you think that will give it a better rating than other airports?
Having a beautiful and a big for nothing airport without safety and facilities is useless but that's what joebi and some Nigerians are after.
Nigeria is in a better position because all the stadiums just got renovated.
Or can you please tell me why Egypt is in a better position than Nigeria.
Joebie: How is that an upgrade? Does the rail link mean that passengers can be transported from one point of the airport to another? Upgrade? Are u kidding me? Have u been to the Abuja airport lately? Is that what you are celebrating?
It's because rail link transports passengers away from the airport to the city. Unlike the mover that will just transport you from one spot to another within the airport. Don't you get it?
Apparently, the advantages for the rider include faster travel time and easy interconnection with other public transport. Additionally, the links benefit airports by drawing in more passengers via easy access.
Now tell me if this is not an upgrade. Yes, it's worth celebrating because no African country can boast of it save South Africa and Morocco.
Joebie: Nigeria is better than Guinea-Bissau, Benin republic etc great!! Always under construction story. Let it start running and let’s give it a little time and see.
Joebie: I live in Abuja for ur info. And I’ve used the Abuja airport more than 5 times within the last few months. I’ve seen the construction currently going on. How is Abuja airport better?
We are talking facilities here. Is there an airport in Nigeria that can boast of an airport mover people system to start with? Let’s talk about what is working not what is under construction.
5 years from now we will still be taking about these same stadiums undergoing renovation etc.
Does Nigeria have an airport rail link system? If so is it Currently in operation? All your talk na under construction.
Then, remove the log in your eyes to see better because you are not seeing properly.
Does Cairo international airport have airport rail link? That is even an upgrade version of airpot mover people system. Maybe you don't know.
As we speak, Abuja has an airport rail link and it is currently in operation. Fact
Joebie: Sometimes I wonder what our leaders say when they hangout. I guess they say stuffs like Nigeria is doing fine. Stuffs that some of us here like to say. That’s our number one problem, denial of the reality. If the pride of our nation is truly at stake for them, they would sit up to their responsibilities.
Seriously! Who said Nigeria is doing fine?
Nigeria is not doing fine but we should not be totally blinded towards development going on.
Mickael2: I have been to Enyimba and Uyo stadiums, I didn't really see anything wrong with them,in fantastic condition by the way, as at two months ago I don't know if this Super 8 has laid waste to the Aba Township Stadium sha. And yes the other stadia that I have heard of have at least standard dressing rooms and things like this but some do have poor pitches, I am not sure that that cannot be sorted out within six months.
I am not disputing the fact that Egypt can host a nice tournament, maybe even a better tournament than Nigeria would but my point is we can comfortably host an Afcon tourney with only six months prior notice and it definitely won't be a disaster.
tbaba1234: All of them need repairs including Abuja.
We were supposed to play our world cup send off game on Abuja but the stadium was not ready in time. That stadium has not been used for any football activity since. You can only imagine the state of things there with all the politics and other assemblies since then.
The time is too short.
Oga! See the dates on the articles. Abuja Stadium renovation started last month. Benin stadium will be completed this month. Delta Stadium is a new stadium. Aba was just renovated to world class. I have access to the stadium. Dikko stadium was upgraded at the tail end of last year. We all know Uyo stadium is always maintained by Julius Berger. Etceteta
This is airport mover people system. It is only used to transport passengers from one location to another within the AIRPORT. It's totally different from airpot rail link system.
Now, tell me which African country has such facility in their airport.
As far as I am concerned, Abuja airport is better than Cairo international airport in terms of facility.
Get your facts right next time before you start degrading our facilities here.
Mickael2: Let me ask you if you have been to Egypt recently. Based on the report I got from a colleague not too long ago I don't think they have better facilities, in Africa I would only admit that South Africa and Morocco have better facilities than we do all things considered
Joebie: You know the discussion I am referencing. Then, we talked about the best AFCON experience. And ofourse the airport which greets the players and officials is the first first-hand impression of the host country. Or maybe u think otherwise — typical of Nigerians
Joebie: What is the condition of the Teslim Balogun Stadium?
Oga u and I know that none of our stadiums are in perfect condition. No need for long talk.
At the moment Egypt would do a far better job hosting. We’ve been here before when we talked about airports etc. Anyone who tells me MMA2 is great is delusional or have not seen better airports. The Abuja airport is currently in construction, but I’m not expecting anything great.
Anyways we all have our different way of seeing things. What is perfect for you could be average at best for me.
Does one need great airports or a functional airport in good condition to host a mere AFCON?
Sometimes ehh, you wonder how Nigerians think.
Abuja airport is far better than all the airports in Sub Sahara Africa save for South African.
Which airport in Africa has train connected to the airport? Just two. Tambo international airport, South Africa and Casablanca international airport Morocco.
The almighty Egypt don't even have one.
Nigeria has 4 newly renovated and remodelled airports with newly built terminal.
Joebie: What is the condition of the Teslim Balogun Stadium?
Oga u and I know that none of our stadiums are in perfect condition. No need for long talk.

Because of our poor maintenance culture, none of our grass pitch look as good.
Oga! You can't sit in foreign land and start telling us the state of stadiums in Nigeria. Just ask from people down here and they can tell you the situation of things.
Joebie: Your comment on Lagos not the mention. That was uncalled for. It’s not like other states have not build great stadiums. It was unnecessary and wasn’t the point of this discussion.
Let me ignore the balderdash
You are the one speaking balderdash and looking for loopholes to begin those your usual tribalism nonsense.
Stadiums in states that can afford great stadiums are in good conditions. Uyo, Delta, Rivers(only grass needs to be worked on) and even Edo. There was no need to emphasize on this.
Lagos case is different and it will take a state like Lagos willing to spend money to embark on such projects.
Do you think only stadium is involved? What about accommodation, transportation, security, logistics etc
Joebie: Oga I don’t know what’s bringing this Lagos talk into this matter. May I ask are u even an indigene of Lagos? Everyone is seizing every little opportunity to claim Lagos these days
Back to the issue, Wasn’t it the Adokiye stadium that hosted our Congo friendly? I wouldn’t be surprised if your “perfect” and “good” isn’t what it really is after all.
What kind of unnecessary question is this? Did you see only Lagos on my list? Why didn't you ask me if I am an indigene of Delta or Niger Delta, huh?
You don't need to worry about the existence of Lagos indigene. Go and work there and see if you will be promoted to permanent secretary or any sensitive positions if you are not an indigene.
How many stadiums did I Iist there? 10. Why did I mention only 7? Use your brain for once.
Joebie: What do u mean by Lagos is rich to put in a perfect condition? We all know Nigeria can get several stadiums to perfect condition. But the question is what is the state of the stadiums right now considering our maintenance culture? And how much needs to be done to get tit standard completion ready? You say good condition. How good is this your good condition?
Because Lagos is more eager to host major competitions.
tbaba1234: Uyo is only one and you will spend some money to get the grass in good condtion.
The Delta stadium is definitely not great. Did Rohr not complain recently the pitch condition.
We will have to spend a lot of money to repair and get these stadiums in competition standard.
It goes beyond fixing new grass.
The time is short. Egypt and South Africa already have stadiums that require little repairs.
Oga, stop spewing your insinuations here. I just showed you stadiums that got renovated last year with millions/billions of Naira. You are talking about repairs and fixing of grass.
1. Uyo stadium(in good condition) 30,000 capacity 2. Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Edo state (renovation ends this month) 20,000 capacity 3. Delta Stadium (new stadium) 22,000 4. Abuja Stadium (grass can be fixed) 60,000 capacity 5. Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Rivers state(new stadium) 38,000 6. Enyimba Stadium Abia state (newly renovated) 25,500 7. Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Kastina State (upgraded) 30,000/50,000 8. Sani Abacha stadium, Kano state (in good condition) 16,000 9. Jalingo Stadium, Taraba ( in good condition) 30,000 10. Teslim Balogun stadium (Lagos is rich to put in in perfect condition). 24,325
