Actually, I can give you 10 names. Please don't tell me that you'll rate Harry Kane above the likes of Sergio Aguero, Griezeman, Lewandowski, Gabriel Jesus, Edison Cavani, Diego Costa, Kylian Mbappe, etc.

Note, I specifically left out Messi, Cristiano, Neymar etc.

Listen, I give Mauricio Pochettinno a great deal of credit because the fact is: Harry Kane is playing way above his potential. Kane would be a failure if he leaves Spurs or if Poch leaves. Mark my word!

Kane is ahead of Griezmann, Mbappe and Gabriel Jesus in regards to world class striker.

England players would never amount to anything in world football as long as the British pundits keep over rating them. Most of them are average at best but these pundits make them feel like world class. I was watching Spurs vs Liverpool last Saturday and I almost turned off my TV when I heard the match analyst telling the whole world that Harry Kane is already at Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo's levels!

Can you imagine? Harry Kane who can't dribble to save his life being compared with the GOAT like Leo Messi!! What an insulthuh!!!

That my brother, is why the British players never do well once they step outside the EPL. I am praying and hoping that Harry Kane would go to Real Madrid so he would get exposed by La Liga.

O pari
Bros, England has produced world class players than Nigeria.

Harry Kane goals are no flukes, he is definitely a world class player. I didn't believe it initially but succumbed whenever I saw him scored.

Eagles star Moses Simon reveals why he is firing again in Belgium

By admin -
October 25, 2017, 4:13 pm

Moses Simon is firing again with Belgian club KAA Gent – 3 goals, 2 assists in the last 3 matches – and he has revealed this is so because he is doing less defending under a new coach.

Moses Simon took Belgian league by storm when he joined Gent in January 2015 from Slovak champions AS Tencin, but lately he appears to struggle to get back to such form.

The 22-year-old flying winger himself has given reasons for his new-found form.

He said under sacked coach Hein Vanheizebrouck he was forced to defend a lot more and that affected what he could offer upfront, but that is not the case with new coach Yves Vanderhaeghe.

“I previously had to defend more and that affected how I attacked,” he revealed.

“But the new coach has asked for more action upfront.

“That’s what we need and that’s what can win us games.

“So now if they put three men on me, (Samuel) Kalu will be free and if they put three men on him, I will be free.”

http://scorenigeria.com.ng/2017/10/25/eagles-star-moses-simon-reveals-why-he-is-firing-again-in-belgium/

That same coach is coaching Henry now so let us see how things go.
The last time I saw him played I realized he was played as a LM and was always defending. grin

Somebody needs to drill it into this boy's head that his right foot is not diseased. The coaches he works with need to tell him to shoot with whichever foot the ball lands.

You will not always get the chance to switch legs...you will encounter merciless defenders that will not give you enough breathing space to move even less switch the position of the ball, he needs to stop second guessing himself and just shoot

The day Kelechi scores with his right foot, I will celebrate like he won a Ballon d'Or
He has scored with his right foot before. Oya, begin celebrate.

I disagreed, did u remember Chidi Nwanu nearly missed d WC despite having a wonderful season at Anderlecht.

Remember it took d intervention of goalkeeper trainer before Rufai could make Afcon team.

If Westerhoff had his way players like Peter Rufai,Chidi Nwanu w not make US 94 squad but it was glaring Chidi Nwanu was needed after Afcon

As u said Yekini was far better even Amokachie, Siasia are better than Owubokiri but not Efan Ekoku i watched in Norwich and against Zaire.

Efan Ekoku made d team solely on Kojo Williams who happened to.be Westerhoff close ally.

Did u realised John Fashanu nearly made d team after he refused to play for Nigeria, then Chief Akinwumi recommended him but Kojo Williams block him and used Dudu Orumen to paint Fashanu black through his sport show.

It was later discovered there was terrible family scandal between Fashanu and Kojo's Father SB Williams. If not for that Fashanu w make US 94 team.

My man a lot are happening behind d scene when it comes to players selection even with foreign coach. If I may ask icon4s can u explain how Aaron Samuel came into reckoning before Cameroon match.
We should had won Algiers 90 if Clements took Rufia to the Nation's cup, instead, he took Alloy Agu his in - law. He even took him to the 92 nations cup but when he it backfired, he realized Alloy wasn't good enough and public opinion ensured Rufia was called.

The same Alloy Agu wants to force Ikechuckwu Ezenwa on us.

Since, Ighalo is the only CF on your list, I will go for Kayode. This is because he has been consistent for the past 5 seasons scoring double digit goals consecutively
.

He scored double digits in the Isreali first tier were he emerged the second top scorer. He also scored double digits goals in the Austrian league in two seasons and he is now in the best league in the World on loan from Manchester City. Arguably, he is the most experienced among other contenders.

However, if Tammy Abraham agrees to go with us then I will remove Abdul Ajagun or Agu for Iwobi to accommodate both Tammy Abraham and Kayode Olanrewaju in the attack. grin

When Musa went to Leicester and couldn't fit in: 'It is Musa that is not good'. 'Musa has been found out'.

Now Iheanacho has gone there and could not fit in they are looking for his agent and Leicester style to blame. Some blamed Shakespeare and even celebrated his sack as though it will bring better fortunes to Iheanacho.

Chidi Nwakali could not play a single game all season at Diportivo and it was blamed on Racism. Kayode has gone there and is already winning MOTM. The club has suddenly changed from being racist.
It's Francis Uzoho that plays for Deportivo the while Kayode plays for Girona-fc.

we are doing an x-ray on our previous world cup performances, some folks believe yekini[of blessed memory] was not at his best in 1994 world cup and okocha was busy entertaining the world in 98 instead of playing for the team, were they not at their prime then. we all love these players and what they've done for our nation but at the world cup stage where it matters most, they were simply not at their very best. No sentiments here
How can Yekini not be at his best when players ganged up against him?

What could Okocha had done in 98 when the rest where fatigued during the match against Denmark?

Okocha was the only player that carried the match for head like gala though he looked for suitors with his display. Nevertheless, the rest were not in that game and the coach messed up with the submissions .

If he had brought in Tijani earlier we for don do something.

Why we failed at the 2002 WC.

1. Change of coaching crew. We made this mistake in 1998 we did not learn.
Thank God we are not doing that this time. NFF don't try it o.

2. Axing of Senior players by the coach in collaboration with the NFA.
Lesson to those that want experienced players like Echiejile and Onazi out of the team

3. Parading too many inexperienced players plus some players only took part in one or two friendlies. Batholomew Ogbeche, Femi Opabunmi, Justice Christopher, Efe Sodje. They were not tested but were trusted and lo they failed us.
What happened to their careers after that World cup?
Lesson, every player that will make the next world cup squad be tested and trusted.

4. Lack of tactical inputs to games. Onigbinde sat on the bench with his hands under his chin in all the 3 games irrespective of how the games were progressing. He never got up for once to shout instructions to the boys. When asked he said he had already told them what to do from the dressing room. Is it that he didn't understand that game dynamics change and you could switch formation to counter or to follow these changes in dynamics? And that you can do this by passing instructions by voice or by hand signals?
Rohr is a very active coach we have no worries about that. Although I think Rohr needs a special tactician even if it is just for the world cup. Eg Westerhof had Jo Bonfere.

5. That 'up NEPA' jersey. Commentators could not even read the numbers and names on the jerseys as the Lemon green over shadowed the white prints on it. Some press men even mentioned that players found it difficult distinguishing some of their key players that they needed to get more involved in the game. Funny but could be possible.
Lesson learnt: The NFF should give us one very fine nice Jersey.
I will like to address your number 2 and 3.

The players in my opinion where rightly banned because I remembered those players were so rude and indisciplined. They were finally banned when some players scorned the Minister. I thank God those set of players were thrown out of the Eagles else mafiarism for still dey national team. I am not saying senior players should be banned but if there is any player causing problems and distractions in the team, he should be kicked out.

3

The national team was disbanded with the intention of building a new team hence the injection of upcoming talented players like Vincent Enyeama (unknown keeper in the local league thought he won the league that year with Eyimba), John Utaka (he was an unknown player in Qatar league), Femi Opabumi (second highest goalscorer and 3rd best player at 2001 U17, and was bought by Grasshopper who were the current champions of Switzerland), Bartholomew Ogbeche (A regular starter in PSG at 17 as at then), Austin Ejide (unknown with Gabros in the local league) and James Obiora (had played 30 games for Anderlecht prior to that Mundial).

This was done to get them exposure and experience, it was never for them to do well and I can tell you that it paid us.

Since, Amuneke, Finidi, Olishe etc were rightly axed from the team, it was expected to draft these upcoming talented players to the team.

Ogbeche deserved to go to the world Cup based on his exploits with PSG as at that time. He was the Mbappe of this day then. How can France ignore him because he's young and inexperience?

About what happened to their career after the world cup. Bros, Ogbeche was simply ignored for years despite the fact that he played regularly for PSG with the likes of Ronaldinho and Jay Jay Okocha. Well, many strikers springed up doing his days. This guy is still playing in the Eredivise and his goal return is very impressive there.

Femi Opabumi was bought immediately after the world cup by the Champions of Switzerland Grasshopper. He played regularly the next season in the league and also played in the UEFA cup. After that season he went to France where he had eyes problem. He almost went blind. The rest they say is history.

James Obiora was very consistent with Locomotive Moscow for 2 years after the world cup before he went to other clubs. He had a memorable club career but he was still ignored for National duties.

I don't need to tell you what happened to the relatively unknown Vincent Enyeama, Austin Ejide and John Utaka.

In a nutshell, Onigbinde very good at spotting talented players. His players are not Chinko products that last after a tournament like the ones Stephen Keshi discovered.

If you can remember, Onigbinde discarded Odegbami and co from the team after they won the first nations cup in 1980 and brought young unknown players like Stephen Keshi, Yekini etc

We played better with those young boys against England.

On taking over as the Nigerian coach, there were no untouchables, he got rid of the usual suspects including Adokiye and Odegbami and brought in players young, untested players who he felt could fulfill his tactical ideals.

In came Kingsley Paul, Stephen Keshi, Sunday Eboigbe, Yisa Sofoluwe, Ademola Edeshina, Humphrey Edobor, Bala Ali, Chibuzo Ehilegbu, James Etokebe, Ayo Ogunlana, etc. Who are they I hear you mutter. Exactly. With this team he reached the finals of African Cup of Nations.

For his poacher of a striker, he found it in a young man (Rashidi Yekini) playing for an obscure team in the Nigerian Third Division called UNTL Kaduna. His teams where often the most disciplined and tactically astute Nigerian teams, unfortunately, history may judge him based on his last stint as the national team manager.

Some lessons so far on our failed world cup attempts from responses so far include

1. Stick to the coach that qualifies you for the world cup cos you you need that strong bond between the coach and the players who have been working tirelessly together.
2. Do not discard half or majority of the players that qualified you for the world cup as it affects team spirit and you end up with players in the world cup who are strange bed fellows. Case in point keshi despite qualifying for the world cup and going to the world cup ended up with players who were not really used to each other. This may be the reason Mikel rejected the inclusion of ramon azeez in the game against France.
3. Go with at least 90% of your players who qualified you for the world cup. case in point USA 94 team. If you must bring in new players, very very few.
4. Nff need to sort out issues of bonus and players welfare on time. I heard before the end of this year, Nff will meet with the players to tell them how much they will earn during the world cup next year. Good one I must say.
5. Quality warm up games for the team, perhaps warm up games against Germany and Yugoslavia brought out the best of Nigeria against Spain in France 98.
A player who says another player should not be considered for the Super Eagles is a big.. .. and unprofessional.

That should never be an excuse. I know how Mikel gate crashed the U20 World Cup screening. So, why should he frown against another player who also got change in the last minute?

Mikels presence alone in d team goes beyond his performance on d pitch of play, its present in d team also lift d psyche of d young players around,Mikel is d PSEUDO assistant coach of our team. also some persons mite not b too gud eg echiejile, but if u ask me,God forbid,na Only DEATH fit stop echiejile from been on d plane to Russia, not even bad form.he would b rewarded for his commitment and also being a nucleus of d team who worked tirelessly for us to qualify, though he may not b a starter when d tournament starts, but he's going.

Having said DT,Rohr knows 90 percent of his team going to world cup,we shld only expect a lil change from his defence/striking dept of d team
1998 World cup

1. Indiscipline
2. NFF interference in players selection
3. Disrespect to unknown team
4. Disunity
5. Arrogance
6. Unpatriotic players

1. Indiscipline: After we qualified for the second round, we heard many players went to party a day before the match against Denmark hence the lackadaisical displayed during that match. Obviously, they *cough* overnight before the match. Hangover caught up with them and we saw tired legs. Besides, the coach had no control over the players and there were different gangs in the team. grin Some even brought their girl friend and wife to the mundial.

2. NFF interference in selections of players: Though, we had a very good team but somehow players were hand picked by the NFF. That was the era NFF and some players decided who made the team.

3. Disrespect to unknown team: Players went to jirate after they heard we were to face Denmark because they thought they had the game in the cooler and they dreamt of meeting Brazil in the quarter finals. They didn't take the game at a time because they disrespected the unknown lowly Denmark.

4. Disunity: Some players weren't even talking to each other not to talk of greet.

5. Arrogance: Due to the money some players were controlled, they became too proud of themselves.

6. Unpatriotic: Money before anything hence the rumor that the players boycotted trainings because they weren't paid allowance on time. grin

2010

1. Bad luck
2. Weak bench
3. Injuries
4. Uncontrolled temper

Goke7 and realpoacher's posts just sparked some thing off my mind.

Can we do an x-ray of reasons for our failures in our last 5 participations?

Best way to solving a problem is actually to get to the root of the problem.

We as fans will not play for the Super Eagles in Russia. We are not part of the coaching crew. But we can make our own contributions by profiling the reasons for our 5 previous failures to go beyond the second round of the world cup.

As I have always said here, do not underestimate the contributions we make here. They go very far.
To be honest , some times, I feel Rohr and his crew get some things from here because we have seen things play out severally after we discuss them here.
Plus I know a couple of officials visit here. Eg Amuneke's U17 media officer and Siasia's late U23 media officer.

Most of us here know the history of Super Eagles participation and performances better than Rohr. So he may just learn a thing or two from us.

I expect opinions and counter opinions. All the same we can keep the discussion or arguments constructive.

To discuss this issue I need enough elders in the house as we may need to go back in time to address issues even from 1990 when Westerhof took over.
The younger generation too can equally contribute as a lot of those old games are available on YouTube.

enomakos, Kog45, forgiveness, tbaba1234, TheGoodJoe, Goldfish80, Michael2, Joseph1013, joebie, komekn, safarigirl, mujtahida, terzurum5, icon79, do4luv14, omanbala1, Chriskel, Chrisoblog, Orkpekyandega, Humility017, elyte89, Dedebanky85, soetanoreoluwa and many others.

It must not be in any order. Discuss any one you followed from 2014 to 1994.
Thank you very much for bringing this topic up because this has been giving me worried heart recently. I think these lads must be educated about this issue before the world cup.

Starting with 1994 World cup

1. Disunity
2, inexperience
3, lack of concentration
4. Self glory
5. Ignorance of FIFA rules
6, indiscipline

1. Disunity: Prior to the world Cup, we heard about the disunity in the camp. It gathered momentum during the 1994 Nations cup when a player confronted some players who sneaked out of their hotels to enjoy party before matches. This cold affection was transferred into the 1994 World cup. It worsen after Yekini celebrated in the post alone without running to celebrate with other players. They presumed Yekini was taking all the glory hence the need to stop the supply of passes to him and rather place themselves in a better position to score.

2. Inexperience; One these played out against Argentina when we were leading by a goal. While we were still arranging the wall and naively waiting for the referee to blow the whistle to take a free kick after Maradona was fouled, Maradona stood up and quickly took the free kick that led to the goal.

The second was when Oliseh was supposed to balloon the ball into the stand, instead tried to control and pass the ball. That was end. The rest they say is history.

3. Lack of concentration: The equalizer scored by Baggio was due to lack of concentration btw Austin and Oliseh when Italy took the free kick or throw in while they were still arguing.

4. Self glory: like I said earlier, some of these players were only after their own glory hence the saboteur against team and National glory.

5. Ignorance of FIFA rules: The quick free kicks by Maradona and the tackle in the box 18 that led to the penalty Italy coverted to win the game is also part of it.

6. Players sneaking out to party during tournament and revolt against the NFF are act of indiscipline.

I dey come for the remaining.

I don't think the inclusion of Vincent Enyeama (aged 19), Bartholomew Ogbeche (aged 17), Femi Opabumi (aged 17), Austin Ejide (aged 18), John Utaka (aged 20) and James Obi or (aged 23) were bad as at that time, since some players were banned from the national team and the goal was to build a new national team.

It was very clear that we were rebuilding the National team from the unset, and that was why these young talented players were integrated into the national team.

This moved paid off after all because out of these players Festus interjected into the national team 3 later became the integral part of the National team. In short, 2 later became one of the best in their clubs.

People raised eyebrows for the inclusion of these players including Enyeama but they say the rest is history.

One billion like for dis post.do u knw y I don't take most of our unofficial scout serious here is DT,dey re not ROHR,all what dey say on dis forum,is just for dem to make demselves happy and wyle away time

Rohr av made it clear countless times in his interviews of his recent dt he would consider majorly those who were called up against Cameroon and zambia, barring no injuries to dem,

Peeps here, don't realise d importance of team chemistry and bonding, I just laff when some persons here will suggest an ogu to be dropped for ajagun or ezenwa to b dropped for AIYENUGBA and so on

Compiling of list goes beyond " FOOTBALL REASON",for example let us assume A Mikel obi loses form and its obvious,he would never b dropped for An AJAGUN/ALUKO,even if d later scores 100goals for deir teams respectively.

I want to address the two @bolded

In other national teams, they pick from the best and inform players and not the other way round.

In Europe, as at the time Ikechuckwu Ezenwa was invited to the National team, Enyeama and Dele Aiyenugba were arguably the best but how the former had been overlooked for years is beyond common sense.

Even in the NPFL, is Ikechuckwu Ezenwa the best goalkeeper? I don't think so. How he managed to get the nod over the best in both continents still baffles me.

Therefore, if Dele Aiyenugba is mentioned here, it's very reasonable because he has been consistent in Europe and he's still eligible for the Super Eagles.

Now, to address your the second @bolded.

Soldier come, soldier go barrack remains. There will be a time Mikel Obi services will no longer be needed if he loose form. In this case, if Aluko, Ajagun or any player do well in Europe, they should be given the chance to prove themselves.

Just outta curiosity, how do you know this info? Is there something you know that we don't?

Ok, I seem your responses to other forumites. I don't really believe most of these papers cos they merely speculate false news. That's why Naija players are the most actively transferred players on NAIJA controlled newspapers and internet. E.g. Etebo and Azuibike to Monaco, Moses Simon to West Brom. Also they come up with SE camp distorting news. Thats how I read somewhere that Rohr was set to dismiss Mikel as his captain. Smh. Just don't believer all u read
Well, some of the NFF board members were quoted hence my submission.

However, Simon Moses to West Brom, Brighton and h, and Monaco were carried by reputable foreign journals. Even Gent club manager was quoted mentioning names of clubs after Simon Moses.

Nigeria: NFF Washes Hands Off Debate On Enyeama's Planned Return to Eagles

By Gowon Akpodonor
As reactions continue to trail the decision by Super Eagles handler, Gernot Rohr to open the door for former skipper and first choice goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama to return to the fold, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) declared yesterday it was neither in support nor against the decision.

Enyeama left the national team in controversial circumstances in 2015 following a row with former Super Eagles Coach, Sunday Oliseh. Several attempts and appeals by some individuals were made for him to come back to the team but he refused. To some Nigerians, Rohr's decision to throw Eagles' door open to Enyeama could be counter productive, especially at Russia 2018 World Cup.

Speaking with The Guardian yesterday, NFF Secretary General, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi said the football house would not in any way interfere in Rohr's choice of players and goalkeepers for the national team.

"The NFF does not interfere in the choice of players or goalkeepers for the national teams," Sanusi said. "We gave Rohr the free hand to pick whoever he feels capable of playing in the Super Eagles. I won't say we are in support of his decision to bring back Enyeama neither will I say we are against it. Rohr's decision is final as far as such issue is concerned."

Super Eagles Media Officer, Toyin Ibitoye said in a chat with The Guardian yesterday that Rohr was not planning to hand Enyeama an automatic entry into the World Cup-bound Super Eagles, but to give him chance to fight for it. "Rohr has not said the Enyeama is coming straight into the team, but he will have to prove himself whether or not he is still fit to earn a place in the goalkeeping area. To me, it is not a bad idea. But that is not to write off other goalkeepers in the team," Ibitoye said.

To some Nigerians, however, the Super Eagles currently need players who can be loyal to the coach and follow instructions, but not people with attitude problem.

Some have suggested that the technical crew should look into Enyeama's injury problem critically before opening the door for his return to the team since he had been out of action for over six months. For some others, Enyeama's return to the Super Eagles could spark a captainship row in the team, which could jeopardise Nigeria's chances of making appreciable impact at the World Cup.
