How does one invade ones own country?! Bush could do that because the FBI and Homeland security knew that the bombers were a sleeper cell of Al-queda that they had under surveillance for a while and lost. . . They tracked their financing to Afghanistan and confirmed the presence of Mr. Bin Laden on afghani soil. The Americans could afford to drop over 100million dollars worth of tomahawk missiles on Afghanistan because they werent fighting on U.S soil and no American lives were at stake. . Jonathan does not have all these luxuries. . The security outfits in Nigeria are weak, the terrorists are home grown, the places they live in are surrounded by innocent Nigerians, he cant just declare marshall law in any northern state for fear of inciting ethnic sentiments, e.t.c...

Who is the enemy?!

Can you spot a Boko haram member on the streets of Kaduna or Kano if you saw one?

Do you know the name and address of the Boko Haram leader?!

Do we Have CCTV footage of any bombing in Nigeria like scotland yard did during the london bombings?!

Are our security agencies as equipped as that of the Uk/U.S/Canada and most of europe?!

DO you know that the 1 trillion Naira security budget incldes and is to restricted to; Pensions, Equipments, Salaries, Logistics and everything pertaining to security to be shared amongst the Army, Navy, Airforce, SSS, Police and Civil Defence (amongst others)?!

If the president is indeed doing something about Boko Haram, I dont think it would be wise for him to come out on T.V and read out a manifesto of the steps he has taken thus far as even the BOKO HARAM guys do watch t.v, listen to radio and are on Nairaland as well. He is prolly keeping his cards close to his chest while trying to keep the Ship called Nigeria afloat.

The Nigerian troops are substandard, a trip into your neighbourhood military base would prove so, and inasmuch as it is the Presidents duty to bring them up to par, we as a nation dont have that kind of money. . Go find out how much 1 Lockheed Martin F-35 lightening II or C-130 Hercules aircraft costs or even a MIG then you would understand. . The rot in the country is over 30 years old, and you want Jonathan to fix it all in under a year?! IS HE GOD?!
I hereby ask you a few questions and i need you to respond to each.

1. Are you aware that GEJ himself declared publicly that Boko sponsors are highly placed in his government? Answer yes or no

Your response will determine my next line of questioning.

maclatunji: ThisDay Newspaper office in Abuja Attacked in Aparent Suicide Bombing

At least one death and several casualties have been reported in an attack this morning at ThisDay office in Jabi, Abuja. This story is still developing but you might recall that the United States Embassy in Abuja put out a warning to its citizens about a potential attack on Nigeria's capital, Abuja 9 days ago.

The warning which was contained in a statement dated 17th April, 2012 amongst other things read:

The U.S. Mission in Nigeria issues the following emergency message for the attention of all U.S. citizens in Abuja, Nigeria. The U.S. Embassy has received information that Boko Haram may be planning attacks in Abuja, Nigeria, including against hotels frequently visited by Westerners. The U.S. government has no additional information regarding the timing of these possible attacks. The Nigerian government is aware of the threat and is actively implementing security measures.

The Embassy reminds U.S. citizens to exercise additional caution. Please maintain a high state of vigilance and personal security awareness, particularly in and around Abuja, Federal Capital Territory, near Nigerian government facilities, diplomatic missions, large gathering places, hotels, markets and malls, and places of worship. We advise all U.S. citizens to review their personal security plans, remain aware of their surroundings, including local events, monitor local news stations for updates, and report specific incidences of targeted violence to the U.S. Embassy in Abuja or the U. S. Consulate General in Lagos at the numbers below. For additional information, please refer to “A Safe Trip Abroad.

It is yet to be confirmed who is behind these attacks but immediate suspicion would be on Boko Haram, the religious sect that has waged a campaign of terror in Nigeria for close to 5 years now.

@bolded, see America taking responsibility for the safety of Americans in Nigeria. And we have some people here telling us that we should not hold our Chief Security Officer and Commander-in-Chief of our armed forces for the widespread lack of security in OUR OWN COUNTRY.

Nigerians are we this slow?
Nice one guy.

I have asked them to at least tell us who we can hold responsible if not GEJ. Dem no gree talk anything.

TO ALL PRO GEJ GUYS ON NL: PLEASE SINCE YOU GUYS SAY WE SHOULDN'T HOLD JONATHAN RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR SAFETY AND SECURITY AS NIGERIANS RESIDENT IN NAIJA. WHO DO WE HOLD RESPONSIBLE PLEASE? I NEED YOU GUYS TO ANSWER ME

Sugardiva: I agree with you but lets be honest. We say GEJ is incompetent, Which Nigerian Politician would do better? To me replacing Jona wld just be a case of frying pan to fire or at the very least fire to frying pan. What our Nation needs is either a division or a revolution. Personally I hv always depended solely on God for my protection. After all except God watches a house the wacthman wathcheth in vain. But that doesnt mean the watchman shldnt watch I guess.
And who says that many BH victims do not depend solely on God for their protection just like you or even more?

1. If you were Jonathan, what would you do?!

2. Since you are not Jonathan, what is your solution to the Boko Haramites?
Please ask me the same questions and i will school you.

Granted. Boko Haram might just might not be responsible for the blast. But i am sick of hearing about bomb explosions in naija! And to further hear about deaths resulting therefrom makes me depressed. This is just not right. people, lets not wait until we or our loved ones become casualties before we appreciate the kind of evil facing us.

maclatunji: I thank God that people are beginning to reason with their brains in a more functional manner. If GEJ is not responsible for handling Boko Haram, why does he keep telling us that he is 'on top of the situation', 'Boko Haram will end by June' etc? He should just come out and say: "don't ask me about Boko Haram, it is not my job to deal with them." Then we will know he is not responsible and kick him out of office before you can say 'impeachment'.

Anybody that says we should not hold GEJ responsible is a supporter of terrorism by omission because you want us to continue to die so that the incompetent man you support can stay in office- how low can anyone get?
GOD BLESS YOU FOR THIS
Politics › Re: Bomb Blast At Thisday Office, Jabi, Abuja by forkadict(m): 2:53pm On Apr 26, 2012
wirinet: If we cannot hold GEJ responsible, then who should we hold?
Massive fraud in NNPC, GEJ not responsible.
Massive corruption in pensions office, not GEJ fault.
Near collapse of the capital market, GEJ has no blame.
Near total black out throughout Nigeria, GEJ not responsible.
Boko Haram bomb at will, including very close to aso rock despite warning from foreign intelligence agencies, not GEJ's responsibility.

So what exactly are GEJ's responsibilities?

If boko harams sponsors plan to make us believe that GEJ is incompetent, then they have done an excellent job.

So how are we to show that we are not ready to be taken for a ride? Carry a gun and lynch any northern Muslim we come across north of the niger? Please tell me what you want us ordinary defenseless citizens to do.
Nicely said man!

And i must commend your patience too.

I am not that patient.

The sad fact is that most of those guys saying that GEJ aint responsible do not even reside in naija. They are mocking and insulting us by trying to trivialise the Boko issue by telling us that Jona is not responsible for our security challenge. I mean the id.iot is THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF OF THE ARMED FORCES, FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA. And he can not deploy all the forces he commands to fight the BH guys to a standstill and make us feel safe and secure in our own naija. We only come on here to try to hold him accountable to his responsibilities as the C-in-C and some goons tell us he is not responsible! Just imagine.

If he is not responsible for our safety, then who is? The idi.ots wiol not mention any name. what rubbish!

aletheia: The question I asked is simple: what is wrong with slavery? Na so una dey take fail exam.

Can you explain the thought processes wherein you parlayed that question into "So to you. Slavery is so good and there is nothing wrong with slavery right?".

I am curious as to how you arrived at that conclusion based on that simple question.
OK. Let me tell you a few things wrong with slavery:
1. Slavery is all about holding the slave and making the slave do things against his will normally.
2. There is usually a physical and psychological and in some instances emotional pain inflicted on the slave to gurantee obedience from the lsave at all times.
3. Slavery involves taking undue advantage of someone's situation and exploiting same to the fullest. This explains why many slave owners would NEVER allow their kids to do a hundredth of the tasks they assign to their slaves.
4. It is a crime in most countries.
So with these points raised, do you agree OR DO YOU NOT that there are many things wrong with slavery? I need a YES OR NO ANSWER FROM YOU. NO STORY PLEASE.

GenBuhari: see how people fear an anti- corruption leader grin

Buhari is the last chance for all those thieving politicians to repent and return their loot, because if Buhari does not get to stamp out corruption a military dictatorship may end up executing all these thieves.

It seems to be inevitable.
How i would so love that. They steal our money with impunity and make us suffer. I know how much i used to spend on petrol monthly. I forking know how much i spend now. It's not that naija can not afford to continue with the subsidy but because of corruption. I have to pay for corruption in government. Let them come and make those thieving crooks (politicians and govt officials) refund our money or pay with their necks! AWON OLE BURUKU!

AMEN!
But guy, you are sooo wise. FYI MR. wise, All those blood was shed and many more will still be shed if we have a confused, id.iotic cowardly and clueless thing as the COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF OF THE ARMED FORCES, FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA.

I doubt if you guys really understand in full, the meaning of the above title. You all just know and adress him as the president of naija. you think that is all there is to the office he occupies.

kingoflag: Dude, if the Devil contested against Buhari, IN NIGERIA, the devil will win.

There are sections in Nigeria that are so blinded by hate . . . . . I just don't understand it. Is it illiteracy? Is it ignorance? What is it that would make a people look at evil dead in the face, accept it, then convince themselves, while suffering, that they've made the right choice? GEJ will win again because of tribalism. Buhari will lose again because theres a section of Nigeria that is opposed to change. They claim to want it, but they're always on deck to do everything in their power to avert it each time it (change) rears its head. On their Coattails GEJ will ride to victory again.
Dude, i agree with you 100%.

Nigerians' sentiment, confusion and plain ignorance just leaves me helpless and frustrated. I guess you are resident in naija. I am also. but i feel the majority of anti buhari posters here are not resident in naija. They do not understand what the fork it means for my country to declare trillions of naira budget yearly and still you do not feel the impact of 100 naira out of the budget on you as a common man.

In my bid to understand why these guys hate buhari so much, i have come to the following conclusions:
1. Majority of Buhari's haters are either direct or indirect beneficiaries of corruption in naija. By direct beneficiaries, i guess, they are contractors who bid for and secure contracts strictly on the basis of kick backs and connection. Not because of their competence or reputation. And by indirect beneficiaries, i mean they are dependants of government officials whose livelihood or extravagance depends on how much their benefactors can steal. You really think the dependants of big guys in nnpc or pppra will want those institutions free of corruption? Hell no! Cos that happening will only spell doom for all of them cos everyone knows that their salaries can not sustain their extravagant lifestyles.

2. Plain ignorance, or folly or a combination of both.

3. Fear of the unknown when eventually Buhari gets elected. I suspect (Buhari) will prosecute all proven cases of stealing of public funds at any level and who knows, their relatives may become casualties in the ensuing tornado.

4. Fear of Buhari's religious tendencies. But only on this grounds do i reason with them and i partly blame the general for his careless comments bodering on religion in the past. It is his unguarded comments that kind of portrayed him as a religious fanatic in their light. They are really scared of what might happen in the event buhari gets elected as president. They feel he might impose sharia on all in naija, not minding one's faith, Naija may become a member of OIC etc etc. These clowns forget that Buhari can not single handedly amke all these happen. He needs the NASS and I'm not sure he will succeed there.

Matter of fact, the more i post my pro buhari opinions on NL and the more i see the reaction of his antagonists, i feel so frustrated and i might just resign in the belief that naija has been cursed right from the pit of hell and HAS NO HOPE OF BEING ABLE TO STAND TO HER FEET AND OCCUPY HER RIGHTFUL PLACE IN THE COMITY OF NATIONS. at least not until year 70000!

5.

onyewec3: Buhari can neva rid nigeria off corruption because he's not the police, lawyers,EFCC etc and also not a govnor or senator.so he can only checkmate himself because all dis listed above have own independent power!
You are so wrong. He very well can. First of, he will propose a bill to the NASS recommending very very stiff penalties for criminals who loot public funds. Not the child's play we currently experience. With support from the public and reputable NGOs, the bill will sail thru. Next he will also strengthen and sanitise the ICPC,EFCC, Police and the Judiciary. Once we ahieve this, our journey towards becoming a great nation will just begin. It's sheer fooooolishness to expect naija to be great despite how widespread and commonplace corruption is.
Politics › Re: FG To Relocate Boko Haram Suspects To Secret Detention Centre In Lagos by forkadict(m): 11:57am On Apr 20, 2012
As a security expert (for my mind), this is the stupidest and most ill conceived idea by a nation's Chief security officer. My reason being that once the detention center gets cited in lagos, BH guys will strike someday to liberate their contemporaries once the exact location of the detention center is known. If during the strike, no other innocent individual gets hurt (which is highly unlikely) then no qualms. But if innocent lagosians get hurt during their (BH) strike, i expect a swift and decisive reprisal attack by lagosians on all the mallos in lag. As per say, lagosians no dey dull. This will trigger a counter attack on southerners that are resident up north and if care and decisive actions are not taken, the country will degenerate into a civil war before we realise what is happening.

Make we dey see.

THIS IS TO ALL ANTI BUHARI POSTERS:

The first question i have for you all is that do you all believe that corruption in all its ramifications is our biggest threat to greatness as a nation?

Second question. Do you all believe that before we can fight corruption as a nation, we need to have a someone that has been tested with our funds and enormous resources at any level of government in the past and has been confirmed not to have embezzled our money as our president?

Third question? As a military head of state where you have unrestricted access to all our funds and where you do not have to account to any barger how you spend our money. Do you all know that agree that it takes an honest man to have been a military head of state of this nation not to have embezzled our funds? Do you guys have any forking clue as to how much guys like Babangida, AbdulSalaam, OBJ, Sani Abacha really embezzled? FYI any figures you may have come across as the amount embezzled by these individual guys is just a minute fraction of how much they truly embezzled. There are other monies that are 'untraceable'. And these monies even far outweigh the declared figures. Yet Buhari occupied the same office as these rogues and did not embezzle a kobo. No one repeat NO ONE has been able to accuse Buhari of corruption or misappropriation of public funds. Rather his antagonists attack him along tribal and religious lines.

Question number four. If you guys believe that Buhari is not a worthy choice, then mention an honest politician in naija's political landscape today. who has been tested and whom you feel is incorruptible. Please give me just one name.

Question number five. It really is unfair for you guys to accuse him of being a major sponsor of Boko haram when there has not been any evidence presented on any medium to suggest this. If you want to attack someone, please do so with some credibility. Please research and back up your claims with some evidence. Its just an honorable way of discrediting someone;s candidature to an office. Only illiterates and market women talk like most of you guys do when you name him as Boko haram's sponsor, Ayatollah, blah blah blah.

I understand that Buhari may have been careless in his speech a couple of times, but guys, let's cut him some slack. Let's forgive him his past mistakes and let us move forward. Tribal and religious sentiments will never get us anywhere as a nation. We need men of integrity to lead us come 2015. WE NEED BUHARI!
