If you're calling basic computer science as tuff, something that my kid sis mastered in her first introduction to computer science then I wonder how you'll feel when you're introduced to fluid dynamics (CFD computational fluid dynamics) something that I deal with a lot.
Honestly impressive.
I respect anybody that does all these complex stuff cos the first time I attempted a game in a high level language (JavaScript) only me know what I had to go through cos complex programming isn't easy at all

You mean Konga?
Part of Jumia's success today can be ascribed to the competition she faced from Konga in the early days. Konga was way ahead of Jumia in terms of new innovations in their formative years back then. But then like you said, unlike Konga, Jumia is also owned by white people hence the spread of Jumia outside Nigeria much more than Konga, gave it that slight edge over the years.
Yes konga
I also think advertisement caused it, maybe lack of investor funds to konga. Like almost every ad, I watch on YouTube is a jumia ad. Also does konga operate outside Nigeria? Or They're still local

Man, what happened to konga? It used to be very big way back in 2014 15.
It's also the real Nigerian owned company, cos jumia is owned by white people, just that it started in naija

You are a solo developer who is working on this Nigerian app which you are certain of having at least 10,000 active users daily within 2 months after launch, you have also mapped out different means you could generate revenue from this app from both users and businesses, your app is 90% ready for launch

Which of these options would you choose as means to make backup cash to foot up your bills ?

1. N100 million from an investor who wants 50% of the company

2. A job in a foreign company where you'll have to work for at least 2 years

3. Freelancing as you build your startup
Easy, an investor

Ignore those wordpress/crud/calculator/todo people up there telling you to ignore web development. Start from there and build up to the next thing you will figure out along the line.

A good knowledge of webdev will project you easily to other fields you may take interest in.

But if you want to go back and forth with no direction, carry on.
Exactly, with web dev, you can have a solid foundation and easily move into other fields. Plus you can actually make money easier

News like these are soul lifting. However, our current problems are more of lack of political will and not the of weapons per se. The more the merrier. NAF is surely acquiring more platforms. The best part for me is the APC part. NA would have more protected carriers.
As we are buying more weapons, let's also put funds for manufacturing or innovation, currently the airforce still can't boast of an indigenous aircraft

2 Seaward defense boats from Nigeria
Our navy is trying more than the other armed forces especially the airforce in terms of local technology manufacturing.
Although don't expect these ships anytime soon, since it takes the Nigerian dockyard about 3 years to complete one ship

Meanwhile, I think it's time we finally acquired our first submarine even if it's diesel. Also an additional frigate won't be bad

The most formidable hacking cell in the world after the Russians? INEC stopped them?

I have been following up this section on Nairaland for quite a while now. I noticed that the core discussion here is devs and the likes.

Why do no one talk about designers? We are humans too cry

I'm a Product designer and I know for sure a designers Job is really tough yet we are hardly recognized. If somebody brings a topic about tech, the first thing on their mind is dev not even design.

Are there designers on Nairaland at all or is it only about Programming?
It's literally in the name "programming"

ProgrammingRe: I Just Quit ALX Programme by Fourpockets: 12:15am On Sep 08, 2022
qtguru:
Personally and people will hate me for this, but ALX is basically hand-holding.

Most BootCamp touch surface level, even freeCodeCamp, Documentation, Language Specification doc and books with Youtube works for the best. I did Aptech 4 years and never learnt anything useful. Self-learning has always worked, just read books, study and join some online open education.

Even in Andela BootCamp never went that deep, 1 year is not enough to teach core comp sci

Gooogle this stuff

Open Courseware and OSSu on github

all the best.
Best advice, that ALX program teaches people like a robot
ProgrammingRe: To The Front End Dev Tech Gurus by Fourpockets: 9:09pm On Sep 07, 2022
majesticguy:
Alright. But that's not what I really wanted. Yeah, the standard is 1rem = 16px. Ok here's what I meant.

Is there a fixed or standard font size for let's say my nav items, section headings, paragraphs etc. Like for instance, I've seen lots of Website and tutorials were folks use 5rem as their <h1> 4rem as <h2> and 1rem for the body. So I was kinda thinking, are these figures really the standard value?

And if so, is it ok to go with the bandwagon, because any time I seem to deviate from those figures, it really affects the aesthetics of my site.
For nav bar, use percentage or viewport height
ProgrammingRe: I Just Quit ALX Programme by Fourpockets: 4:25pm On Sep 07, 2022
chukwuebuka65:
Yes, I decided to quit the programme because :
1. The program doesn’t give adequate time to go through the resources and complete the project.
2.being that I am working , if I give ALX the maximum amount of time it requires it will affect my work.
3.. the resources provided are not adequate . You will have to do a lot of googling to successfully complete the project.
4. I still have to attend to my pet projects in order to build my portfolio.
And if I don’t give enough time for ALX , I will eventually drop out. I just decided to respect my self and stick to learning at my own pace that has brought me this far. I don’t know why ALX decided to train software engineers in just a year. Most of the students will actually burnout and eventually drop out. They should just make it a two year programme
All these types of programs are really not that effecient at teaching people things. Take myself for example, I learn things at my own pace, once I'm learning something and I'm stuck, I move on to another section or topic, sometimes I'll even give myself a break for over a day before I continue, that's (in my opinion) the best way to learn. Not this ALX robot type way of learning

Guys please I am a newbie to front end dev and recently, I've having problem or indecision about choosing the perfect font size for my projects.

So my question is, Is there really a standard or fixed value for the font size of a websites all through?

As regards responsiveness, should my font size be halved all round?
1 rem which is 16px

So i want to Learn HTML and JavaScript then CSS for web development, then move on to java and python later on. What do you think?
Stick with one language
