morzook: I am building a clone of the popular game, 4 pics 1 word and I have an issue I am battling with. As shown in the image, I want to populate the empty boxes with each alphabet clicked from the alphabet options below it.
The issue now is that for each time I click the alphabets, only the first box gets updated. The other three never gets updated. How do I go about it? I can apccess each box by using childNode[index]. You could store the values of the letters you clicked in an array, and then map it onto the boxes, everytime you click the letters, run a function to map it, this is the easiest solution I could give off head |

airsaylongcome: I’d advise you to step back and do a proper business plan before diving in. eCommerce is a cesspit and a minefield that has "killed" many investors. Cost of returns alone if not properly factored can kill the business. Nigerians are notorious and can order a product from you and swap it with a fake which they return for refunds. Products can get lost in transit which must be catered for. Think carefully. The software end of it is just a tool. The business plan has to be solid Perfect advice honestly, I heard that even jumia wasn't making profit in their first 3 years, @ original poster, don't allow anybody to collect your money o, the 5m alone could finish from just doing YouTube ads, |

Thank you !!!
https://ozsuperpets.netlify.app/ Your bootstrap skills are good, however while the websites looks good apart from maybe too much padding, bootstrap websites have a generic look and if you want to be good at web development very well, you'll need to know custom CSS, but you could also use bootstrap components once in a while like I do |

jesmond3945: My dear go and do your research. Even during the times of transistors powered computers, the american govt were pumping billions into the tech space. Even the people with passion, go and ask them. Only to pitch your idea, they would drop bar for you. Everyday here they sing it like music. Billions lying fallow. Even the passion you are talking about you need light, water, food, transport is it passion that would pay for all these? The guy saying he has been coding since ss2 but yet to make money, i pity you. Wetin dey do you na impostor syndrome. Yes, the title is consultant. If Op can prove himself, they would give him the job. jesmond3945: We should not project our insecurities on people. The sky is big for everyone. Passion and money are both important motivators. To be frank if there was no money involved in tech. the people shouting passion might leave it ln the future. Even the guys who designed the language were sponsored even up to the boxers they wear. Bill gate who had the passion his mum gave him millions. Infact bill gate was from a very rich home. My dear owute dont know what is passion. Op yes even with the little you know you can monetize. This is a lazy mindset to be honest, the Indian CEO of Google wasn't making money when Google first started. One of the few reasons I say Nigerians will never be able to compete with Indians when it comes to tech cos most of them don't have this mindset |

Ayinke93: Your patience doesn't mean much to be honest. Let the market filter out the quacks like you said. And the thing about programming as a profession is, you don't actually learn much on your own until you enter the real world and see how things work. I for one started learning html on my first internship, learnt react on my second and started earning over 500k barely six months after I got my first internship and that number has significantly increased now. The point is, allow different things motivate people and let everybody carry their own cross. This method worked for me and I will be evil to discourage someone else. Everything depends on how you market yourself , how fast you can learn and being lucky to find people that actually care about your growth and are patient. every mallam with him kettle. peace!! Are you working remotely |

Ayinke93: I see it too and it's irritating. I don't even know how much code he knows sef that he turned himself to the profession's gate keeper. Im not saying what he's implying is 100% correct, but he has a point, there are a lot of people that go into this field for money, a lot of them rush it and become quacks, I saw one guy online who knew all these plenty stacks(JS framework and python frameworks combined) you'd think he's a genius but at the end, the most impressive project on his GitHub is just an ordinary calculator This is the problem, why will I, someone that has built some games with JS and has almost perfected my JS skills be competing with someone like that, it's annoying, all they do is saturate the market with mediocre skills. People who think that knowing many programming language syntax makes you a good programmer ?? It's pathetic... And someone will say Nigerians can compete with Indians? How? Me personally, I've been interested in programming since 2016 when I was in ss1, someone introduced HTML to me and since then I haven't made any money from coding yet, not because I'm bad, but because I'm very patient |

Brogrammer: That's where abstraction comes into play and that kinda defeat what Tailwind stands for... You'll better off writing normal CSS. Check the image attached to have a clue of what I mean Hmmm... Inline CSS as objects... Does it have good code completion, I've used it before and I had to manually type my CSS styles |
Programming › Re: Tailwindcss Is Nice But... by Fourpockets: 1:19pm On Aug 21, 2022 |
Brogrammer: There is a trade-off when you use these CSS frameworks. You develop way faster but in return get a ugly and robust mark-up But what if I want to use a the same or similar style in another components ?, In scss I'll just import the scss file, in CSS I'll just import the CSS file into the component, how can I do similar in tailwind |

Brogrammer: Hi devs, After about 2 years of writing vanilla CSS(plain css), I jumped on Tailwind CSS ship today after being persuaded & forced by my dev friends
Tailwind css is nice and all and having a good knowledge of CSS made it easy for me to hit the ground running. Even though it kinda makes development faster, Tailwind css makes my markup ugly and robust yet effective LOL
Writing breakpoints using Tailwind css utility classes is kinda weird, why 'md:flex md:justify-center md:items-center' and not something like 'md:[flex justify-center items-center]'
Lastly, I know Tailwind will be hard to maintain on big projects. Imagine yourself scrolling down hundreds of lines of code (thanks to inline styling) to make changes to a line of text.
I'm still not convinced yet and I may just go back to writing my good old plain CSS.
Here's my first Tailwind CSS project: https://kaleidoscopic-taffy-873c3e.netlify.app/
Have you tried Tailwind css?? what is your reservation?? I hate that class styling idea, that's why I'm forever sticking with my scss. Maybe I'll use bootstrap when I feel lazy coding a button or tooltip from scratch |

BRATISLAVA: Usual pathetic response from yet another misogynist. The bold parts of your post were so illogical they needed to be called out.
So you aren't a girl, but you've concluded what they want or don't want in life, what they can and cannot do. Because tech couldn't possibly be for them. You and the army of misogynists have determined that. That way you can claim they don't want it. The same way Whites determined black men are good for nothing except slave work. Otherwise that would be preferential treatment to have them (negroes) leave the cotton fields to become human, because blacks can't think and have the IQ of apes.
Go back 3, 000 years in time. It's where your ideologies on women belong.
This forum is full of the unwashed.
You all learned to code, but poverty and it's stereotypes about women are still deeply ingrained in you. Good news is, the people who invented technology will continue to give women opportunities and if you don't like it, you will come to air your uneducated views. Who told you black people or Africans didn't invent things? The pyramids of Egypt were built by black people, in fact one can argue that it was acient black Egyptians(Nubians) that taught the Romans a lot of what they knew since they were close to Rome before they disappeared... even here in Nigeria, the Benin bronzes were built by black people so I don't know what you're saying |

And why does the bottom links to next page inside a thread open in a new window , not even tab but on a new window! Especially on wider screens, on phones it's even manageable |

BRATISLAVA: It's interesting to see that for pages boys in tech have refused to read comments, and only comment on things that support their assumptions on women in tech, based on arguments that are frequent in the romance section of the forum. Imagine a tech thread carrying red pill talk points and the word "simp" and long posts about the military and other trash. Yet they say there's no discrimination, but display it at such an ingrained level so adamantly. A lot can work with tech but are not educated in any form. On Twitter they pretend then come here to express their true inclinations.
The fact that these male users keep looking for evidence of women in tech when it's right in front of them, because they don't want to believe it is possible without trivializing women as incompetent, is enough reason this thread should be closed. The pit level of testosterone oozing from it is booming.
Ridiculous, devalued thread. what are you even saying Edit I just checked your posts, nevermind |
