lennyk: Hello gurus in the house.
@Frankrobbin, @Glitteringstar, @Jnyuwa and all other gurus in the house. Please i need your help. I'm new here and i have been reading through, great work you guys are doing. God will bless you all abundantly.
I studied bus.admin, worked for 5 years (2008 - 2013), stopped work to take care of my children. recently completed a 2yr diploma course in fashion design and 1 year internship ending in May 2018. i have also started a small business in fashion also.
Now i want to pursue a 2yr diploma in Apparel technology in Olds College, Alberta. I already have admission letter for fall. i will be going with my 2 daughters (9 and 6).
my Husband and his Uncle are my sponsors. My husband is an employee, while his Uncle is a business owner.
Iv paid the $500 deposit requested by the school and my husband has transferred the balance of the tuition, living expenses for me and my kids to my dorm account, which is $23k
His Uncle will provide SOA of 10m balance and documents for his business.
What are my chances to secure the visa, as i will be applying online very soon.
Any ideas of what i should include in my SOP?
What other documents do i still need to include?
Please house help a sister out!!! lennyk, From the look of things there is strong correlation between your previous studies, intended program and job role. Endeavor to link this up while drafting your SOP. In respect to the sponsor, let you husband be the prime sponsor to your visa application, while the uncle a co-sponsor. Also, try everything humanly possible to get an affidavit of support to support their claims of financing your studies in Canada. Your letter of intent should reflect the following and should be addressed in each paragraphs to avoid repetition. 1-) Describe your academic background briefly. 2-) The program of choice 3-) Why the school. 4-) Why you choose Canada not Nigeria. 5-) How you intend to finance your studies in Canada without working. 6-) Family ties in Nigeria. 7-) What you intend to achieve at the end of the program and how it might benefit you in the future. Other documents can be, landed documents, business assets, your university credentials, NYSC discharge certificate, share certificates (if any), etc... All the best |

Thebushboy: Hello Fam,
Sorry to go off a lil bit.
My message is for Ontarians. I actually need to know if we have students in Ontario on this forum who understand the process of obtaining a driver's License in Ontario. I am making preparations to obtain the G license at once and I want to know if the following counts
1. International drivers License obtained from FRSC 2. Letter from FRSC stating the number of years the applicant has been driving. 3. Letter from the Nigeria High Commission in Ottawa.
Look forward to a positive contribution
Warm wishes, I know of the first, which is the national drivers license, it's very important. Don't know if the rest counts. |

Thank you....... dubaiboy1, Your uncle needs an affidavit of support, attesting that he will incur all cost during your stay in Canada, that he is fully aware of your travelling to Canada for studies, that he will make sure that funds will be made available for you during subsequent years of study, stating his relationship with you (applicant) etc... this affidavit of support will be stamped and signed by a notary public officer or commissioner of oaths in a federal high court, while your uncle signs as the deponent. It's very crucial you include it with your application. |

Ratawu: Online route is better during the high season period. VFS does send all your docs to Nairobi or Ghana. What they do is to scan the basic docs to them leaving behind many vital docs that explain certain areas of application. Respected Sir, How sure are you about this? I know fully well that an applicant application is always enclosed in a sealed black bag at VFS, which must not be tampered nor opened by anyone unless it gets to the processing office. All candidates applications are couriered to the processing office few hours once application has been received by VFS. I haven't heard nor come across VFS scanning documents, thereby leaving relavant documents that explains an applicant situation/case behind. Please I'll like to know how you came up with this ideology of yours, as I am very eager to learn from this. Thank you! |

DLNEY: Hello everyone, I joined this thread through the recommendation of a friend who got her TRV with the help of you guys and God.
I'm a newbie and its quite complicated. I have read the line of thought from Part 8 till now and I want the GURUS to please comment.
I have a masters degree (Distinction) (2016) and a B.Sc. (2.1) in Genetics, a couple of publications, passed GRE (320/340)and TOEFL, had interships with some federal research institutes too. Tried to secure both Ph.D. and M.Sc. Admission (with scholarship) to no avail. Finally decided to apply to a micro-program in Neuroscience (neurogenetics) in U of Montreal. I got the admission (Winter 2019). I applied for the micro-program because I dont have enough money to pay for the Masters Program.
With all the emphasis laid on the progression of studies, I am really really scared that this might be a major mess on my application.
Can I hide the M.Sc. certificate, even though U of M knows that I have an M.Sc. degree?
So here I am esteemed gurus, I am determined to make the app work and all comments and suggestion will be greatly appreciated.
I plan to apply next month but first the big question: BASED ON YOUR EXPERIENCES (THE GURU'S) IS IT DOABLE? DLNEY, You don't have to hide the already acquired MSc certificate, considering it's related to your proposed course in canada. You're better off presenting justifiable reasons to why you opted for a second masters degree at this point in time rather than Master's. Show correlation of program with your intended program and career goals. I have seen applicants going for second masters degree and were approved of their visas. I'll advise you do the same, in as much as you're unable to get an admission for PhD. Think on how to present a standardized SOP that explains your intention for study and you will be fine. All the best! |

lonelydude: Hello TRV Hopefuls.
Please, I have been thinking of something lately that I feel could affect TRV approval negatively.
Is it not possible for the VO's to check if an applicant applied for PR or at the least in the EE pool since the same account would be used to apply for study permit?
I'm thinking they could assume that applicant might be trying to remain in Canada after studies and thus trying to go through the study permit route since that applicant has not been successful via EE or PNP. This may be particularly for those going for less than a year course.
This is actually one of the reasons I have not tried out EE or PNP yet.
Experts/Guru; what do you think? lonelydude,. Have you applied for your TRV? If yes, i'll advise you wait for the outcome of your application before pushing in for an EE/PNP. Meanwhile, as stated by CIC in the Attachement that having dual intent doesn't have a negative effect on each other. When applying for TRV you must hereby certify the visa officer beyond reasonable doubt that will depart Canada at the end of your studies, thereby providing sufficient ties that can compel your return home. Please find the attached which explains your case better! All the best

joie123: Good evening nairalanders,
I am new here & I'm so glad to be part of this forum. I recently got an admission to do a 1 year certificate program on 'Community support work' in Alberta. I work with an NGO. I intend starting my Visa application this July.
Pls I have some questions to ask:
1. Should I include random recommendation letters I got in the past (e.g those bearing 'To whom it may concern')
2. Is there a limit to how many recommendation letters I should include? because I plan using online application joie123, Firstly you will have to present a strong explanation for opting out for a year PGC in "Community Support work". Why you want to spend so much on this program, the lucrativeness of this program in Nigeria after studies in Canada should all be explained in your SOP. Recommendation letters are expected to come from your employer, it's very important if it's addressed to the deputy high commission of Canada. "To whom it may concern is also good but to an extent" There are no limitations for recommendations letters. All the best! |

Jewel80: Am guessing applicant went for a master's program ryt? So you're saying that 21M was probably not enough to cover both tuition and living expenses for 2years? How can that be? Jewel80, It may interest you to know that there are applicants that paid full tuition and submitted a huge bank statements that are far more than 21M and still got rejected based on insufficient funds. The visa officer goes beyond to examine the sponsor's earnings, motivation to sponsor the applicant, number of dependants, financial resources etc.. If you really read through my previous post where I addressed the reason for such rejection, you shouldn't have come up with this question of yours the second time. |

harde116: I beg to disagree with this. He can still apply again, he has at least 2 full months before school finally resumes, and if you check, rate of application has dropped, even appointment dates at Lagos VFS office are no more as far as they were 2months ago. If he can meet all that is required, why not? Whether he likes it or not, the same challenge would be faced later, so why not now? Someone here got his TRV in 3weeks too.
Except then again, his mind does not want to go for it anymore, then yea it's fine. No one is getting younger anymore, what if his program is not available for winter intake? He should wait for a year? I hope you get what i'm saying anyway.
Cheers bro Well said my honourable Sir/Ma, Yes of course, few applicant gets their visa approvals within the space of a month, but most applicants gets above this time. I am on the notion that applicants should always try their possible best to apply early, giving CIC enough time to process their study permit application. Submitting late, most often ends up with a refusal, of which I have seen such cases countless times. So to avoid been rejected by CIC, the ideal time is to apply early. So that if mistakenly there is a turn around in the applicant application (a refusal), the applicant can quickly apply for their GCMS notes and refire. Your point is welcomed. Thank you! |
