@frankrobbin1, @austinpee4, McObex @jnyuwa02 and other gurus pls help me .

Guys , pls , is it possible to send CIC a copy of my minimal scholarship/bursary received from my intended school which was received only after my student permit has been submitted. I submitted in June.
And, I already stated in my IMM form that i do not have any scholarship.(I think there was a section like that , I can’t really remember)
If it’s possible , pls what impact (negative and positive ) will it have on my application
phemmisky,

You're very free to send additional documents which you feel are relavant to you and will be a + to your visa application. It doesn't matter if you stated the scholarship on your IMM1294E form, the most important thing is that you have it right now. From my perspective, I see no negative effect of you sending this scholarship offer to IRCC.

Indeed, our country’s president, Mohammed Buhari three days ago signed into law that Nigeria’s passport validity be increased from 5 to 10 years.
That would be great! At least this reduces the rate of passport renewals.

Yes oh sent the medical slip through CSE after submission.

Please guys I have an enquiry, SOWP approved and Passport request the same day, to my greatest surprise, my kids got medical request the next day after I had submitted our passports as requested. Still waiting to get back our passports from vfs before I can take them to go do medical. What should I call this one. The thing is making me to have mixed feeling.
There might be an error somewhere which made it to come up this way. I'll advise you get the passport after visa stamping and thereafter, take your kids for the medical test as requested by CIC. A medical request last for 30 days, I believe the time for visa stamping and courier delivery won't take up to 7 working days.

My advice!

My able guru, errmm, In as much as some people were able to undergo "upfront medicals"(I don't think it is upfront anymore grin)after submitting their application and forwarded it to IRCC shouldn't mean they did the right thing or it is a norm. IRCC has provided information for medical examinations as seen in the shots below. The emboldened words in the shots i assume would be them laying emphasis on important thing(s) to note. Applicants are to follow either of the two ways to get their medical examinations completed. Remember, an IME code is usually queried during the initial stages of an application or in the later part which signifies there is a procedure followed either using an upfront medicals or instructing an applicant to proceed for one. So the best advise should be that applicants either do an upfront medical or wait for an instruction from IRCC same way @mcobex advised.

Meanwhile, great job here buddy!
Sure! I do know about the snap shot you attached from IRCC webpage. But, recently on this window, I found out that some applicants do send an E-medical slip to CIC after application submission through the webform/email and was updated. I am not supporting that it's a good step to take, but it has turned out to be a standard for some applicants here and it works for them. Just like Mr. Jimmychuks2018 who attested that he also did the same.

NO you can't, once you have submitted your app without medical you will have to wait for CIC to instruct you to go for it.
Boss!

Are you sure of this? I think I have seen a number of persons here who confirmed that they didn't undergo an upfront medicals during their application submission, but later went for it and send it to CIC through the webform/email, which was updated as "MEDICAL PASSED" on their MyCIC Account.

Please if you did this, signify by quoting this post.

Thank you!

Lol! grin very funny of you! I recently find out that nobody is doing research on their own. Everyone needs a direct answer from the oven to their questions. Continuous repetition of questions that has already been answered on the previous threads has now become a new trend here, which is not supposed. I now see post's like "I have been called for biometrics, please when will they call me for medicals and passport request". Etc.. Things have drastically changed on this thread. I remember vividly some time last year, how newbies are redirected to read the previous threads before coming here to ask questions.. No wonder whenever I come online the thread is derailing so quickly. People are meant to do some research on their own, then if eventually they need guidance during the process, that's when they can ask questions and the knowledgeable ones here can answer.

God help us all!

I believe the merits of an application is what CIC bases it’s assesement, not on whether you wrote to them. This person I am talking about has not been refused I believe. You might be extrapolating meanings to what is not there. At any length, to each his interpretations when it comes to things like this and one has to follow his gut instincts. Prudence and wisdom used and they can never think you are coaching them. Just say you took upfront medicals and your online profile not reading passed and you would elicit their kindness in reflecting it. Thank them for their time and leave it at that.
Well said! It's now left for the applicant to make a decision for his/herself on whether to send a mail to them or not.

Someone here on Nairaland a few weeks ago I remember reading, shared he contacted them and they updated his upfront medicals reflecting pass in five days after he wrote them using the webform even before processing time elapsed. I helped another candidate do the same and Monday will be the fifth day, I will update the house.
Hi Attorney,

I can still remember a moniker here (in order not to call names), who did an upfront medicals and was updated as passed after writing to CIC and at the end the outcome was a refusal. Well, to me I don't advise anyone to write to them, since the applicant has already included the E-medical slip with their application, let CIC do their job. Sometimes writing to them looks as if you're indirectly saying that they don't know their job and you're trying to coach them on how best to carry out their work.

Hello Nairalanders,

I was thinking that one has to wait till 9weeks has passed then if you havn't gotten any feedback you can send an email to CIC.
My submission was done on 14th June my biometrics on 18th June. Its five weeks plus. I did medical upfront. Since then nothing yet.

Is it wise to enquire yet or simply just wait.huh angry huh huh huh

goingforward.
goingforward,

I will advise that you should wait! Nowadays, online applications takes time before they update upfront medicals, when they eventually do so, it immediately moves to review of eligibility which means that your application is getting to a close and a decision will be made any time soon within the space of 3hrs-48hrs. I don't buy the idea of sending a mail for them to update your medical result.

This is my advise.

All the best!

Hi guys, final checks please.

Please kindly assist on the documents that "may" be required at the point of entry. Just to be sure nothing is left behind, just like i didn't know there was anything like correspondence letter. Thank you
harde116,

You're required to have your acceptance letter, tuition fee receipt (If any), the correspondence letter, international passport , Sponsor bank statements ( they hardly request for this) but go with it.

You will be asked questions like :
Is this your first time in Canada?
What is your purpose of visit in Canada?
You came with some money with you? Etc....

After this, the immigration officer will then issue you your study permit on your passport. You will also be directed to a counter where you will get your SIN (SOCIAL INSURANCE NUMBER), which permits you to work 20hours per week during school sessions and full-time during scheduled breaks in the academic calendar predominantly during the summer and winter breaks.

All the best!

Good day Tonny,

This is really bad but please do not loose hope. You will need to tell what you really submitted for the gurus to indicate were the issue is coming from.12weeks is long, I was beginning to think in any rejection is within 3 to 4 weeks and at least the gurus can correct me if am wrong anything from 7weeks is a hope(i mean within this period Point). At this point I think you should throw more light on what you submitted for the gurus to advice..

The gurus will advise further....
Biakwa,

The moniker that was rejected is an online applicant. From recent findings, it happens to be that paper route applications seems faster to online route, which makes it easier for an applicant to know the fate of their application and as well quickly refire once refused. Paper route applications doesn't waste time in calling for medicals once an applicant has successfully submitted their application, this usually takes place 2-5 weeks after application submission. More so, Paper route applications are very fast in dishing out refusals, within the space of 3-4 weeks. Paper route takes a longer time on review of eligibility which can last for about 2-8weeks after medicals has been called and updated as PASSED.
On the other hand, online applications appears very slow, and once review of eligibility starts it doesn't take much time for a decision to be made by the Visa officer, this happens within the space of 3hrs-48hrs. Finally, online applications are unpredictable due to the slow rate of processing. An applicant might stay up-to 10-12weeks and above in online route and still get a refusal. But such is very rare on paper route application.

The above are the recent happenings for Nigerian applicants study permit application both online and paper route.

ORDER YOUR GCMS NOTE

From the look of things your SOP was weak and your motivation to undertake your proposed program in Canada doesn't appear reasonable to why you should incur such huge sum for a program that is available in your home country. The Visa officer needs an explanation to why you're going for a program in Canada rather than Nigeria, the lucrativeness of undertaking such a program in Canada, the range of career options available in Nigeria after successful completion of this program in Canada. Go further by explaining your home ties, what can compel your return back home. As stated earlier by you that your father owns a business, you can tell the visa officer that as one of the son's or being the first son of your father as the case maybe, that you're bond to return to your home country as its your responsibility to take up this family business. Be guided that your proposed course of study must not be in direct collaboration with the type or nature of business your father specialize in Nigeria. Explain the aforementioned points on your SOP and present them in a justifiable manner, you will get it this time.

You're also expected to get an updated bank statement because the previous one you used for your last application has expired.

Lastly, travel history is not a factual reason for a refusal. Once you are able to carefully tackle other refusal grounds, travel history will be automatically waived for you.

It will end in praises in your next application.

Bros kindly put a stop to this "at this time last year it was 22 weeks" Study permit has never been 22weeks not even in the 2 past consecutive years.
At this period last year precisely in June 09, 2017, a moniker called Yomalicious asked a question about her application and how long will it take her to get a response? @mcobex responded to her and quoted the processing time as at then to be 14 weeks. Only in SOWP application you will see 22-24 weeks processing time as at last year for Nigerians. Just correcting
jnyuwa02:
You call 10 weeks ungodly? Last fall at this time it was 22 weeks. That must be the zenith of ungodliness in your dictionary. At any length, to apply in Ghana or South Africa you must have residency, student status or citizenship there. Otherwise you would be rejected based on status in country of application, meaning you would have spent enormously to travel there, only to be returned to square one. If you have the stated status in those countries, as said, you still have to appear physically to apply there. Best wishes.

Ps: I will advice you apply in Nigeria. Even those with legal residency applying abroad are subjected to very lengthy processing time because of their unique status in those countries. They have to verify stuffs. I had a guy from Denmark call me up two days ago who is resident there, complaining he has been subjected to much more longer processing time than ordinarily Danish citizens applying in that country.
Hello my Executives in da house grin grin

jnyuwa02 and wealth360, to put an end to this argument. I was on this window last year and I am a witness to this. The processing time for Nigerian applicants as at September, October, and November 2017 was 22 weeks. I personally screenshot it last year.

So, Attorney jnyuwa02, was actually correct with his standpoint.

See attached screenshot.

All in all, the both of you are doing a wonderful job here. Bravo to you guys!!!!!! Let's move on.....

TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by Frankrobbn1: 11:34am On Jul 23, 2018
jnyuwa02:
I think everyone worries and rightfully so, including the first class students here with full scholarship, because there is no one size fits all solutions that guarantees a visa approval. Last fall, a fully funded first class student walked sadly away from a 20k a year masters scholarship because a VO denied him visa based on home ties.

I don’t think they are trying to get the cream of the crop to their country, but the most credible who will strictly adhere to their purpose of visit. The law’s requirement they are trying to interpret and enforce when it comes to a student permit, is one of non-immigrant, not immigrant. The process of attracting the cream of the crop is within the purview and direction of the skilled workers entry program.

About the VOs been professionals, yes they are, but humans as well, therefore subjected to human limitations. That means some of their decisions will miss target. That is why some of their decisions are reversed by Canadian high courts on judicial review. It will help not to paint a VO and their decisions as beyond reproach or infallible. Not every VO takes their time to read an application carefully. Some may wake up on the wrong side of the bed. Some faced with limited time have been known to just skim through people’s SOP and therefore miss an important explanation, therefore rendering a flippant decision. That is why we advice here on this forum that you do your best and hope and pray that your best is good enough. Nothing guarantees a visa, not a first class, not a full scholarship. That well written SOP might come off as implausible to a VO. That heart poured out SOP might sometimes be misconstrued by a VO as a sign of desperation. They are only humans. That is why I advice people when writing SOP to stay off from emotions and sentiments, stay neutral and communicate effectively and factually.

Yes, the VOs see themselves as gatekeepers and enjoy considerable discretion under the law to do and undo. They can use whatever means they deem feasible to reach a decision, including using your low academic performance against you even when the school has offered admission. The gist is not usually whether you have conned the school into given you an admission. They certainly mean no disrespect to the school on its intelligence. It is only based on the realization that as gatekeepers, they must admit only the best who will serve out their purpose of visit. And nobody is better by training in enforcing that gate keeping provision than a VO. A low performance in Nigeria often leads to the belief among the VOs that if you cannot succeeed well in such a low standard atmosphere of learning as Nigeria, you might have troubles doing well in Canada, therefore likely not to serve out your purpose of visit. So they deny you visa based on your performance even when the school gave you admission. It’s a fine separation of power and respect that goes on between the school and the High Commission with each not stepping on each other’s toes. The school certainly understands this when it happens and does not take it personal.

Finally, yes, the VOs don’t make their decisions in the vacuum. There is a pattern we can infer to on how they make their decisions to be able to make our applications better. I guess that is why we are all here sharing information and ideas. Good luck to everyone.
I agree on this. The bolded words are practically true.

It may be necessary to show a bank account only if the company is sponsoring him or he is sponsoring himself as the founder of the company. If an uncle or any other relative is sponsoring him, no bank account from the company is needed. Only CAC certificate and perhaps a tax clearance of the company if he is using it as a tie.

A woman that got her visa recently, generated payslips from her company. I guess she was using that as a tie for a job she is returning to Nigeria for. But her dad is the main sponsor and she presented CAC and bank account of her sponsor, not her company, not even a bank account of herself. You never know what works.
