Good day everybody, please i will like to confirm if i can go for a master’s after a 1-year PG diploma in Canada since my undergraduate CGPA can't get me directly into a master’s program? Will it be easier to be admitted into masters after i complete a 1 year pgd?
You should be eligible for a master's program in Canada after successful completion of a year post graduate diploma provided that your results are great.!

Long Approval Alert!

I just want to thank everyone that contributed to my approval. @wealth360, I will never forget you for all your advice and guidance.

I was refused Visitor's visa three(3) times and it all came as a rude shock because I believed I had a tight application.

Details:

1st Application (Visitors Visa) March 2018 - Refused ( only reason was Socio-economic ties to Nigeria)

2nd Application (Visitors Visa) May 2018 ( Used Canreach) - Refused ( Document not authentic) - Was shocked because all my documents were verifiable.

3rd Application ( Visitors Visa) June 2018 ( Did it myself ) - Refused ( Existing EE profile )

At this point, my spouse was upset. Went to his school immigration and they said we were asking for the wrong visa. I sincerely wanted to only visit because of my work here in Nigeria ( I work with an IOC).

4th Application ( SOWP) February 2019 - Approved Today (Paper route)

Guys,

Is basketball team a social club?

I want to get a reference letter from them.

Thank you.
Basketball team is not a tie and can't motivate you to leave Canada after studies rather it will give the visa officer the impression that you're going to Canada to further develop your basketball skills and reside permanently in Canada. Hence, A reference letter from such organization has no impact on your application. You're better off looking out for recommendations from your local church or your local community. These are regarded as a tie to applicants home country.

i have submitted my application last week, but my dad only have 35m in his account and he pledged to give me 5m each year making 10m for the 2 years and i also have 8k funding from Mun each year for my masters program, but i have 6siblings, did you all think this financial status is strong.
i have been seeing people with huge SOA getting the visa, hope the money i have isnt too small.
Your dad giving you 5M out of 35M is sufficiently enough to sponsor you and i can state that you won't have any problem with financial sufficiency in your application. At this point, you should be more concerned about your purpose of study in Canada and ties to Nigeria that can compel your return home after studies.

Of course you can. It's a very strong tie to your TRV application considering that it has a valuation report which would adequately inform the visa officer that your family is well off in Nigeria and you can't abandon such profit-oriented building which you're traditionally heir to for a Canadian stay.

Hello. I recently got a correspondence letter today without medicals and I know it's usually followed up by refusal. Please I will need any advice you can offer. My school doesn't accept deferral so I need to reapply as soon as possible.

My profile
20 years old
Studied bachelors in turkey(mechanical engineering) graduated July 2018.
Cgpa: 3.7/4

Submitted documents
All imm forms
Degree certificate
Admission letter from UBC (mechanical eng masters)
Passport
Digital photo
Birth certificate
Valuation of landed properties
2 pages SOP

Financial documents
2 of my Fathers SOA with sum of 17 million naira
Father pension account: 400k naira
My father sold some assets to make the money up to 17 million naira. I provided the deed of conveyance of the sold properties as proof.

I was previously denied a Visa due to failure to provide biometrics (country i previously applied didn't have VAC). I attached my refusal letter in my client information document.

Please any advice you can provide will be extremely appreciated. Thank you
Hey,

I regret to hear your visa was rejected.... From my point of view, I can confidently point out that your study plan was vague and poorly written. How did you relate your intended program with your previous studies and current employment status. It will also be a big risk but not impossible to reapply for visa against fall term at this point without an upfront medical as the current processing times is 10 weeks and you would require to restructure your SOP which would also take some few days prior to your reapplication.

In a nutshell, I would suggest you work on presenting a logical and persuasive SOP and LOE that would substantiate that you're a genuine student with a lawful purpose to study and would depart Canada. The SOP/LOE should be well organized with ideas supported with relevant details. Paragraphing must also be used well. Furthermore, work on your ties to Nigeria that can motivate your departure after studies.(Aged parents who depend on you for support, parents landed properties/buildings, close bond b/w you and your immediate siblings and things you share in common with them, you belong to any organization in Nigeria which you must return to continue active participation in meetings, and your career Prospects in Nigeria upon your return etc...)

Best of luck

I won’t lie to you this rattled me despite using a genuine statement of account. I generated the requested using my internet banking and sent to them as requested.

After so much waiting and praying it finally came.
I really want to use this opportunity to thank one of the most selfless human beings I know @frankrobbn1. Right from SOP review till date you’ve been most helpful. You’re blessed and always will be.

Then @awuuga I met you in this forum, I’m so happy our paths crossed, your a friend turned brother. What excites me the most is that we are going to the same school and the same course. Also, you being a term ahead of me gives me someone to look up to for guidance in school.

To all helping out applicants here, you guys are awesome. More power.

My advice to newbies, try and read the threads. It might be tiring and nobody expects you to read all the pages but read enough.
Who am I to receive such honour? cool. Congratulations Chibyke, Its good to hear that you made the most of the advices given to you by me in your application and it ended with an approval.. Senatorkolade:
From what I gathered, when an application is submitted, it goes straight to central processing center in Mississauga, where a home Visa Officer will do the initial review. The home officer may recommend a satisfactory status for your file or otherwise at this stage and return it back to the queue online for the lead Visa Officer at the Canadian High Commission in Kenya to later pick it up for final processing. This is where the issue is. Some VOs have a style of inviting applicant for medical once they sight satisfactory remark of the home Visa Officer before they open the file for their own final assessment. Now, during the lead Officers's assessment, he/she may have his/her own issue with the application dossier like the funds issue he raised. Mind you, he has already sent out medical invite and will not hesitate to refuse the application at this stage since he/she has the final say.
Go and check your GCMS notes from the first page to the last page and confirm this story
Well said Senatorkolade! I think your points are valid. Above all, there is no blueprint that works perfectly for this visa processing thingy as applicant's cases differs in spite of the fact that we try our best to gather precise details from refused applicant's GCMS notes.

Please wht to you advice]
If I understand you clearly, your brother submitted an E-medical slip along with his application. However, during an active visa processing he was instructed to undergo another medical exam right? Let me ask, how do you know that his medical exam wasn't good? Did the hospital call him to inform him about it? I know over 8 applicants who were called for medicals and was rejected starting from December 2018 till March 2019. I was thinking the Kenya visa officer's have stopped this style of calling for medicals and rejecting the application. With your brother's case, its sad to see that getting a medical request still doesn't guarantee the issuance of a Visa.

a friend asked me to reapply again and silence my first degree
how possible is that. since i have applied before with my first degree being pronounced
13 years study gap
is it justifiable
I don't advise you to withhold any information you submitted with your previous refused application as the visa officer will go through their GCMS data base to uplift all the documents and forms submitted by you in your last application. Once this is done, you might up in misrepresentation. You've a good CGPA 3.97 why settle for a 4 years undergraduate degree 18,000CAD$ per year that is more expensive in Canada compared to a 2 years Master's program? You can check University of Saskatchewan, they offer a master's in Public health and the tuition fee (6KCAD) is favourable and the Admission process is also not stringent.

This is my advice!

ok here
i studied public health in nigeria as first degree, now I got admission to study health studies in canada also for a bsc degree.
alot of people are saying I won't be given a visa because I already have a bsc for similar course.
secondly Is there any role agents play in visa application?
because I submitted and went through the process myself.
Moreso is there anyone admitted into university of regina for fall 2019. I will like us to meet
documents submitted are
bank statement of sponsor and myself
birth certificate
police character
testimonials
transcript of previous university
degree cert
English proficiency result
waec
company and land doc of sponsor
sponsor I.D
sponsor reference letter
sponsor affidavit of sponsorship
employment letter
nysc discharge
sop
Canada immigration docx
passport page
Did you graduated with a 2.1 from the University? I'll advise you go for a degree that is higher than your already completed degree which is a Master's or Post graduate diploma in a closely related discipline in Public Health. It is almost impossible to convince a visa officer that you're a bonafide applicant with genuine intention of coming to Canada to study and would depart after your authorized period of stay.

With regards to using a compensated agents, it is important to bring to your attention that they have no advantage over an application rather some of them go as far as complicating issues for applicants. I can assure you that once you put into good use the advices given to you on this great platform, you next application will be a successful one. Therefore, an agent should be your last resort.

By the way who was your sponsor in your previous application, he/she also has a role to play in application.

My little cousin will be heading to U of Regina for the fall term 2019, I am anticipating to receiving a positive response from IRCC on his application.

I wish you the best

Wow, this is great news! I really would like to learn from your Judicial Review journey as I am not a custodian of knowledge and always open to learn at any given time in my life. Permit me to ask you, how much did it cost you to hire an experienced immigration attorney in Canada to file for a judicial review on your behalf at the high court of Canada. More so, how long was the whole process including transferring your file to the next visa officer for reassessment down to when you got your approval.

Thanks very much at the bolded.

I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your personal assets and financial status.

Gurus in the house how do I convince them that I will leave canada at the end of my study.
please Help a sister ooo
This question has been answered in my previous post. However, for the sake of newbies, I'll have to repost it again.

To convince the officer that you're a bona-fide applicant and will leave after your study period, you must prove that you have sufficient ties to your home country that will motivate you to return to your home country at the end of your authorized stay. You must also prove that you will abide by the terms and conditions on your study permit as an international student.

A well written SOP/LOE as the case maybe must suffice stating the reason why you choose to undertake your proposed program in Canada rather than your home country, Nigeria. The lucrativeness of such program in your home country. What you intend to achieve in a short-term and long-term basis. The difference you could make when you return to your country e.g setting up a company of your own and creating wide range of employment opportunities for your country men etc...

* Proof of properties located in your country of residence preferably in your name(or parent's name that you're directly heir to). This assets could be land, house or a registered business etc..

* Proof that your immediate family members (aged parents, siblings, spouse and kids) are in Nigeria and aren't accompanying you to Canada, would also be a strong reason for you to go back home when you have finished your studies.

* Financial obligations and moral responsibilities which falls on you such as leadership role, military, community, church and family that you must return to continue active participation and attendance in meetings. (A letter from any of these bodies would help).

Also remember to order your gcms note as this will give us a clearer picture on what went wrong with your previous refused application.

I hope the information provided is adequate to what you seek. Feel free to reach out here if you face any difficulty along the process and I will be happy to guide you through.

Honestly I am not happy the way these people refuse study visa. If they have a limit or a set standard or a format, they should just let us know. It's really getting too much and they always come up with these same reasons.
I am sorry about you refusal, I urge you to take it in good faith and see it just as a refusal and not a rejection. Look for the loose ends and tie up and then reapply. Please make sure you get it right the next time even if you have to take your time. And very importantly, take it all to God in prayers very seriously. #ItWillEndInPraise
I remember I mentioned about it in my previous post this week. You guys shouldn't fright, during this period approvals are rare while refusals are high.... Subsequently, those that were called for medicals and updated as passed will soon start receiving approvals. This is the modus operandi of the Canadian embassy every fall term and it's important you all be well informed about it.

I am sorry to say but I can see a bit of arrogance in ur comment. I am happy for you that you have gotten your PR but like u mentioned no situation are the same and I still will not agree that SOP or SOA by themselves are the game changer, I believe it is more than that.

As I have previously mentioned, I was refused and I went for JR. I didn't add a single new documents, I didn't change my SOP and with that the refusal was reviewed and I was approved.

Senatorkolade mentioned it in some pages ago that the VOs can sometimes be sloppy and lazy.
Also, all fingers are not equal, we all have different abilities and capabilities, this is why I appreciate frankrobn, he doesn't talk down on people, instead he encourages. Some of us are not so smart as u assumed and will always need help, that is why there is market for agents.
