Dera12345: ORIGINAL PASSPORT REQUEST!!! (May applicant) Experience is truly the best teacher, and my Canadian Sucess story made me believe the saying “EVERY DISAPPOINTMENT IS A BLESSING”!!! I know very well my story will motivate or strengthen some people never to give up in whatever that interests them, pursue it desperately like your life depends on it!! Yes I mean it. Before I proceed, below is my timeline.
Online Application (2nd Application) Submitted May 9th (10:57pm) Upfront medicals passed on 11th June Correspondence letter (today by 10:12am) Original passport request (today by 10:32am)
This experience is my most difficult experience in life so far, I have always thought I can have anything I want in life but this Canada journey taught me that “Human beings can make any plans they want, but it’s God that decides their Sucess or failure”. I don’t even know where to begin from, but only God, Myself and @frankrobbn1 can tell my tragedy-comedy story. So exactly a year today 20th June 2018, I submitted a paper route application and It was refused within 4weeks based on family ties, purpose of visit , personal assets and financial assets. Meanwhile, I have a Bsc in Biochemistry with overall CGPA 4.15 and last two year CGPA 4.71 , going for 2year diploma, paid tution fee $8,880cad. when I received my refusal letter, I cried that very day like never before and till date my first refusal date 18th July,2018 still remains the worst day of my life, and the agent my parents used was just after money. After crying, knowing how bad i needed to leave this country I woke from my comfort zone and began my personal research, this was how I came across this wonderful forum and started reading up!
Through this wonderful platform I met an angel in human form, a motivator, my soulmate and my support system @frankrobbn1, may God bless you richly for me. Frank took his time to explain the errors in my application starting from advising me to secure a masters admission and that is nearly impossible to convince a VO on why diploma and not masters considering my high Gp, and secondly that my application is as empty as anything, I didn’t even submit my family’s information, no assets declared, no employment evidence and so on.
So I began my admission hunt and the devil started his work. Almost all the schools offering my course/ or related course requires a supervisor , and you know how difficult securing a supervisor can be. Some schools I contacted will tell me pump and play that I must identify a supervisor before applying while some will tell me to apply that they will assign me a supervisor once am admitted! I fell to their tricks and lost my application fee, I also tried contacting supervisors all kept turning me down. I kept sending countless mails to different supervisors in different universities all to no avail, some would always come up late with their negative mails of not having space in their lab while some will totally ignore me. I got feed up and I decided to stop sending mails but to call them on phone at least to get a straight forward response rather than waiting for their response that takes weeks and at the end must be negative. I made it as one of my daily activities to call at least 10 supervisors daily, and I did this for months!!! Even the ones that later accepted to supervise me though without funding just all of a sudden will deny even knowing me after I have submitted my application hoping I have secured a supervisor.
In general, I applied to 6 different universities in a space of 8months and all turned me down. I kept asking myself who did I offend? who is after my progress? Through this same wonderful forum I met a very nice fellow @agronat. Immediately he posted about him securing a masters admission with funding, i pm him to put me through, and that was how I realized the vital points/information missing out in my application and the reasons behind my refusals regardless of my high scores. And today am glad that my finally attempt landed me a full fulled scholarship worth $38,076CAD at BROCK UNIVERSITY ONTARIO , 2 years MSc in Biotechnology. Big thanks to @frankrobbn1 for recommending Brock University to me. I nearly craze that day (April 18th, 2019)!!! NB: the scholarship covers my tution and living expenses with extra left, I was also guaranteed a graduate assistantship position. Isn’t God great? This was when I realized that God was preparing something greater for me.
Fast forward to my visa application, guru @frankrobbn1 finished work.. I personally wrote my SOP and LOE, but when frank was done reviewing it I couldn’t recognize my LOE and SOP .. lol, he reconstructed it and was even using the VO’s terms to address every issue. He sold me well and also left the Change for the Visa officer to keep. I can’t thank you enough.., even after I submitted my visa application he took me to a church where I was given 4 days dry fasting and prayers (something I have never done in my life). I’m not the churchious type but this journey brought me closer to God and will forever remain grateful. I will be traveling to lagos next week to submit my passport and at the same time celebrate this wonderful journey that ended well. Seriously my sleep tonight will be very special after one year of dreaming of CANADA Lol, and to @justwise thanks for making this platform possible.
Below are the list of documents I submitted with my application: Father sponsor.

Even though I know my application is a little bit tight, I still handed it over to God because I have seen better applications refused, or the acceptance quota being reached as rumored on the forum,I said to God that they will bang the door when it’s my time to enter, I prayed against errors which can come from the VO leading to common refusals, lol, I prayed against bad mood on the head of the VO handling my application. Prayer is the Key.
I wish all TRV hopefuls SUCCESS!!! Wow! Wow!! Wow!!! I must confess that this is the best application that I have ever played an active part starting from the admission process down to the packaging of the visa application . The approval didn't come as a surprise to me, because I was too sure about it's favourable outcome after been up and about for several nights, writing and cracking my brain in an effort to put up an undeniable application, considering that she had a 38,000CAD$ full scholarship from Brock University. Documents were bulky yet very clear and readable. @Dera12345, I have always known you to be a self-motivated and relentless maiden who aspire to attain greater heights in life. We have been in this tedious process since last year and I can tell how many times you were rejected by potential Supervisors. I am extremely delighted that the whole struggles and hurdles ended with a remarkable Victory. Thanks once again for trusting and believing so much in my capacity my dear Dera12345 . It's indeed a great honour to be part of your TRV crowning achievement and I wish you the very best in all your endeavors. Accept my Congratulations my dearest Dera12345 |

abusmanlouis: Stating your other countries previous visa denial or not has no effect to your your Canada Application. I think you misunderstood the moniker. He said not declaring or withholding the information that an applicant has been refused a visa will result to a 5 years ban. He didn't say stating previous visa denial will adversely affect the applicant's Canada application. |

alao1981: Dear All, initial application in March refused on the sole basis of "purpose of visit". From the support on this platform, I have since realized that the reason is probably the SOP (8 pages and complicated). GCMS notes just showed up and the explanation is that "The applicant's Plan of studies appears vague and poorly documented". I wanted to confirm that this is indeed about the format of the SOP and not mean something else. Thank you. Work on writing a strong and convincing SOP. Once you're done, you can contact any of the knowledgeable person's here to help vet the letter so as to be sure that you've tackled the concerns of the visa officer prior to reapplying for your visa. |

Hollushola: @frankrobbn1 for how long after a passed medical request should PPR drop?. i have two colleagues who have been waiting for over 3weeks. No one can't predict how long it takes before you get a Passport Request after medicals has been declared as passed. My advice is that your friends should send a CSE to the Kenya, Nairobi Immigration office requesting that their application should be finalized and a passport request be sent to them so they can make preparations for their trip. I have a sample of the mail that might be of help. |

abike12: the question is not whether to fill the denial out on the form or not. the question is whether to write a letter of explanation to give further details You don't need to state that in your SOP/LOE. The answer you gave on the IMM1294E form is okay. |

Samuelpluto: I still feel its like shooting urself in the leg if u had been denied US visa and not canadian visa in the past. canadia visa denial should be given in details. bur US or other countries, why? If you've been denied visa in the past in any country... Simply indicate that I have been refused a US, UK, New Zealand visa on (Quote the date) and the reasons for denial, on the account that you don't know the reasons for the refusal, the date and the type of visa and country you previously applied to is sufficient for the visa officer. |

Samuelpluto: sorry, is there any question like have u been denied a US visa before on the IMM1294E form? No, the question states - Have you been denied a visa or ordered to leave Canada.... In a situation whereby you've been rejected a visa, the answer should be YES followed by the full details of the refusal (the type of visa, date and reason for the refusal). |

State truthfully on the study permit IMM1294E form that you've been refused a US visa in the past and in the SOP should discuss about your intent to study in Canada and why you must depart after your authorized stay. |

Tvickie: What if you’re on the eligibility review before you got the BVL? Is that a different scenario ? It's the same thing since you didn't receive a medical request before the BVL, the application is at risk of being denied. |

bukonlami: @Frankrobbn1 So what should one expect after BIL. A medical request for those that didn't include an upfront medical sheet with your application. As for those that did an upfront medical exam, their application are 50/50 as most times their medical result are updated as passed before the BVL. In a nutshell, after BIL you should expect a medical request followed by a passport request. |
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by Frankrobbn1: 6:42pm On Jun 18, 2019 |
Whynotme: OK. You're in order. So you have to wait for eligibility review to start and probably then the biometric validity correspondence will come in. They are two different things Once an applicant receives the biometrics validity letter it automatically moves to review of eligibility, that's their mode of operation for the kenya, Nairobi Immigration office. |
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by Frankrobbn1: 6:40pm On Jun 18, 2019 |
Whynotme: Well said Frank, but I think the issue now is that no one has been refused. That's why we think its possible CIC have changes their format. Cos even before Biometrics correspondence used to be sent at the beginning before, instead of at the end. I'm thinking it's possible the format has changed. What d'you think? The letter that is sent within 24-48hrs after application submission is referred to as Biometrics Instructions letter (BIL) . Starting from September 2018 until now, we noticed that any applicant that receives a biometrics validity letter (BVL) during application processing without a medical request is an automatic refusal from the Canadian embassy. As you can see from @ prospy01 profile, he submitted his application on May 10th and received his BVL after 6 weeks of submission without a medical request. In this case, his application is at risk of being refused. I hope he returns to share with the house the outcome of his application. |

prospy01: Hello everyone, I'm an ardent reader of this thread since I applied 10th May via paper route. I just got a mail of my Biometric validity untill 2029/05/10, please does this mean a Medical Request will be a follow-up mail? Gurus help. @ prospy01A decision has already been reached on your application and it's an automatic refusal. Nairlanders should be well prepared that there is a certain period of time (peak period) when the Canadian embassies are faced with multitudinous applications and will intentionally start refusing study permit applications with insubstantial and general reasons. It is at this point in time we start receiving generic GCMS NOTES from potential candidates who were denied of their visas. It might be a shock to you guys seeing so many applicants receiving biometrics correspondence letter/refusals this recent times, however this is the trend I have carefully observed in the past two years and above of my existence on the reputable platform.. A great deal of approvals/medical request will subsequently follow as soon as the refusals have been dished out. As a consequence, you guys shouldn't fright whenever you start facing this changes on this thread. For the benefit of those that were refused recently, I'll personally advise you from the wisdom of my experiences to use the attached GCMS NOTE in preparation of your visa reapplication because I have noticed an act of using general GCMS note by the embassy has begun. I wish you all the best

george009: Hey, good evening everyone; I've been following this thread for a while and it's really been helpful;
I have some few questions with regards to landed property;
I recently bought a land to serve as my home ties and also have another land I'm building a table water factory both in Owerri; but my challenge is none of these lands have any C of O;
The only document I have for both lands is just Power of Attorney and unregistered survey plan;
So my question is, can I present the power of attorney and survey plan as home ties?
I really need your contributions,
Thanks george009: Please House, Can Someone help me with an answer to this question; I want to ensure I cover all lapses! Thanks Yes you can use the both documents as evidence of your personal assets and tie to Nigeria. By the way, don't you have a state/local government approval letter for the land? You also need to take pictures of you at the table water factory that is under construction to support your claims |

holllowu: Hello guys, Does getting an accommodation improves your chances of getting a visa? It doesn't increase your chances of approval and it's not advisable to do so as you might end up loosing your hard earned money to a foreign landlord who you've not seen before. I know of an applicant who payed his accommodation upfront in the sum of 1500$ and when he contacted the landlord for a refund after a visa refusal, the white man told him he can't give him any dime because the apartment has been vacant for his sake, which made him not to fix in a potential tenant. There are several ways you can show financial sufficiency not through this medium. |

hiambenson: Thanks Bracha. More suggestions from other knowledgeable gents and ladies would be highly appreciated. Writing an LOE & SOP differently depends on individual preferences. I always advise prospective applicants who were refused of their visas, that if you don't have adequate/fresh points to present in an LOE without avoiding repetitive statements in the SOP, it's advisable to stick to one letter i.e SOP and explain the reasons for your previous refusal followed by the intent of going to Canada (why the program, why Canada not Nigeria, future goals and prospects etc...). With that being said, so long as your letter is very persuasive, concise and straight forward you stand a chance of getting an approval. |

peruz: Yes it does,I appreciatecthe contribution, but I will appreciate if you can laid more emphasis more on the tuition,do I have to keep it in my bank account or the sponsor must have it inside his own account?The truth is that I'm getting so much advise outside of this platform that it's more advisable to pay or I defer my admission. Please enlighten me more on this issue. Payment of upfront fee is not a prerequisite for a visa approval. Supposing the school you're heading to in Canada didn't request for a tuition deposit, you don't have to pay upfront . The estimated cost of your study in Canada should be in your Sponsor's account and must be readily available and accessible by you the principal applicant at any given time. Meanwhile, on the condition that you're self-sponsored applicant, the funds should reflect in your account. You only defer an admission to the next available term when you're unable to meet up maybe due to some unexpected circumstances. The current processing times (9 weeks) is favourable and you should be able to resume studies for the fall term 2019. |
