C'mon, 900million for something that could be done with far less. If they even say that it would take 90 million at least it is still understandable given the Nigeria context. I don't think there is any justification for spending such huge amount
You did not understand the message passed before commenting. Check the word concession in the dictionary first. Do you know the terms of the contract? Do you know how much they have paid or will be paying the Federal Government on it?

If you don't, then you do not have enough knowledge to comment on whether it's expensive or not. It much more than just developing a website or an app.

900 millions for e-ticket platform shocked. May God help us in this country o. If I am not mistaken, the platform will operate the same way airline online booking and ticketting works. Which is just an web applications that can be maintained by a team or two teams IT professional. Web applications that can be bought for at most 1 million let's even add training and hardware, it should not be more than. 10 million naira.

This is my prayer, any government official either civil servant or politician that is benefiting corruptly through this process and similar ones like this. May the money choke him/her and not enter his/her stomach, s/he will never enjoy it.
Seek to understand the message first before you start offering prayers that may turn back to hurt you.

Even if the company is own by one of them, so long as it will reduce racketeering and unnecessary bribe seeking attitude of those NRC workers and they remit the government part of the money then all is good to me.

I have someone that wanted to get a ticket for Abuja- Kaduna last week. One of their staff was given to him for ease of getting ticket. He called the staff to help to help him get one. The cost of the ticket was N2,600 and he sent her N3,000 only for the lady to call back and start telling her that why didn't he add anything extra na.

If not that they deliberately delay the selling till when people are gathered in overwhelming numbers and very close to boarding time. There would not have been any need for even asking her to help in the first place.

The lady kept calling to disturb to him money. He got to the station about 30 mins to the boarding time. The lady was not there but kept the ticket with her colleague. When he got there he gave the person he collected it from N1,000 and call the other lady to thank her that he has collect it.

The first she asked was if he dropped the money, and he said yes. She then asked again if he left instruction that the money should be kept specifically for her because that is her transport for the day ooo.

After hearing all this, I asked myself if NRC worker are not paid salary. I am not against giving tips if your mind tells you to but for someone to want to tie all her problems to customers who may have their own problems too is not right.

Now if everyone have access to book online. It can will help customers to properly schedule their trip. You can book 5 days ahead of you so wish from the comfort of your house without the need to beg anybody.

I don't understand. The real kidnappers were sent to 5 years imprisonment while the person that just bought a stolen vehicle from the kidnappers is being sentenced to life imprisonment. How fair is that judgement?
There is more to this things than meet the eyes. A police officer just told me that has to be that way for some possible reasons.

1. He ought to have known better being that he is an officer. He should have been the one advising against such.

2. The kidnapping/car theft business is still thriving because of people like him who buys what they stole. Thus, he aided and abetted the crime.

3. His fellow police officer( Prosecutor) also proved beyond reasonable doubt that he was aware that the car was stolen before buying it. That is a conduct unbecoming of a police officer. It is also a very serious misconduct.

Personally, how a seller respond to customer is what will make me as a person reach out to him when I need anything he/she sells. I come here quietly observe and pick who to deal with. I will share a discussion with you.

You dey mind them? Na dem e easy to scam na.By their logic, If someone is offering iPhone 12 for like 300k and because Na 100k be my budget, I suppose go price am 100k when I know that my 100k will probably get me iPhone 7+ Abi? Can't even wrap my head around these takes to be honest.
For God sake we are talking about a second hand phone. Personally I would never even buy any gadget used by anybody except you dey my house and I know when and how you bought it. Instead I will go for a lower version of a new one.

That said, Oga no be sin say person price market just tell am say you no sell e don finish... It's only on this thread I see that if someone price lower it is easy for him/her to fall into scam but if seller add money to his quoted price he is legit.

If person price your product and him money no reach need no dey to insult am. 'I no sell' no go commot anything from you. You can quote any price for that phone and he can bid any price it is only when you agree that goods and money will exchange hand. On eBay people bid $200 item for $30 it hurts nobody. So I don't get what the fuss is.

MrSuama:
Wallahi I felt so bad with the way he insulted the guy. He could have simply said no. The same Redmi note 7 4/64 version people are advertising here for 50k to 55k is what I saw on jiji advertised for 40k. When I sent him a deal of 30k he simply replied me with smiles no deal and after negotiating he even agreed 39k.

Even In Bauchi, I saw a very neat Redmi note 8pro with a slight crack at the back which would be hidden with a pouch for 55k. This is a phone with the lowest advertised rate of 70k on Jiji.

The fact you can't sell at a given price does not mean others can't. The same phone weh you wan sell others na dash out them go use am do.

I don't really know who you are but from your body language it seems you gat more than enough, so why not extend an olive branch to my brother in the #40k gang by dashing him the device so that he can really use his 40k to eat as advised by you.
To be frank some times some sellers on this thread do not help matters at all. I have contacted a seller for a phone and asked if he has someone reliable in my area (an escrow) where I will see the phone before payment. His next response was that if I can't pay before he send the phone, we can't deal. I smiled and say ok. But he eventually sent me a message minutes later, provided one and the transaction went seamless. I went saw the phone transferred his money and collected my phone.

I always see them call prices here and write firm. In December, I wanted to get Umidigi A7 Pro for someone. I already checked out the prices available on Jumia but here I will have a direct contact with the seller and possibly get it faster or so I thought. I sent a message to a seller that has a quoted (firm) price for it here after check. The price he gave me in the chat was about N10,000 higher than the firm price here. I thought that maybe he wouldnt know how I knew he had it. So I told him that the price was different from the price I just saw on Nairaland. He said the price he just gave me was the price he will sell. Thank God a Jumia seller had it at a better price. I just ordered it immediately from jumia and sent him the screenshot of my order. Though it took like 5 days before it got to me but then it's worth more than 10k plus the 4k voucher I already have.

Why then will you get angry if a customer price lower an item lower? If a customer do not buy what you sell others will buy. If you do not sell to a customer he will still contact others too till he gets elsewhere. There is nothing wrong on pricing and also nothing wrong if you tell him no you can't sell it at that price. He can't force your item from you.

Both sides are not telling us the whole truth.
It is not the Bureau the Change business that was not yielding profit. It was the managers that were not running the business sincerely. It is very common in Nigeria. @4tunebest above is a very good testimony. I am using them too and their services are ok.

However, one thing I discovered with Nigeria financial service providers and asset managers is that a lot of transactions done by December ending especially in Christmas week and first week of January are likely to get delayed and may need some follow up before it is where you want it. Because of that I am still keeping some some funds I would deposited to them. End of the year activities of balancing accounts and others will distract them.

PoliticsRe: Many Police, Army Checkpoints In The South-East? Why Is This So? by freeman67: 12:22pm On Dec 29, 2020
BIGPREEQ:
Why Is This So In The South East?? I Need Explanation

So today I decided to travel to Owerri from onitsha for a business meeting, the journey was meant to be a 1hr30min journey or less, but the check point for such short distance was sooo much!!

Like literally every 1km of the road has checkpoint, it's so bad that from a particular check point, you can basically see another check point ahead.

Ranging from the Army to the police to FRSC. Basically every force is on the road and all of them including the army were collecting bribe from the drivers. I actually felt bad for the drivers because it was too much. I felt really disgusted as well because I expected them to distinguish themselves but no they didn't.

I guess this is why the transport rate here is on the high side.

Now I've spent 4hrs on the road due to traffic induced by these forces from blockage of the road

Last week I came back from Abuja to Anambra and the check point were few across the north and I kept wondering.

Is there insurgency in the SE or is the crime rate high here or what exactly is the cause of this excess checkpoints / extortion points
It bad of of the security agencies for collecting bribe from drivers. The cost is eventually transferred to innocent commuters at the end of the day.

It is a very bad situation. However, it is better than what would have been if the road is left free. Most times for us as a people we complain about most things because of the inconvinnience felt at that moment not knowing/considering that it is for a reason.

Our different communities/societies are the cause of the security situation of they get. The first time I visited the East as an adult, I saw a bank bullion van carrying money escorted by a Joint Task Force of Army, Mopol and others in about 3 Hilux Van. I was shocked and couldn't comprehend because everywhere I have been in Nigeria before then a bullion van will just pass you with only 1 police Hilux as escort with no much fuss.

To comprehend the situation, I inquired from a police man than once served there. He told me that the situation I witnessed was even better that it got to time they could not move cash in bullion van but it had to be moved via police helicopter. He said it is so because armed robbers must attack them so they have to prepare it. In such situations, innocent people loss their lives too so they had to consider the chopper. Do not forget that Kidnapping and similar crimes are prevalent there during this season. It actually commenced from there before it went national.

Those security arrangement are always put in place by the governors as the CSO of their state to ensure the security of their people. They cannot just fold their arms and watch. It is somehow the best of worst situations for them. Yes there will still be crimes with all of them there but then the rate will be reduced than what would have been.

I believe that If everything was ok those security guys would want to celebrate and party for Christmas too but then that is where they found themselves.. No excuse for bad behaviours anyway but a very high possibility is they that they may not even get their entitlement for the job from their authority.

I believe if we all can find a way to preach to our communities to avoid crimes it would go a long way in reducing the presence of security agencies from our community.

All the sukuk coupons coming in batches is really surprising to me. Although I got mine in the afternoon on 16th, I find it uncomfortable to read about the delays. I have never experienced this with all bonds. There is need to make enquires to know why this happened. One day without my money is a loss to me.

Considering that we are expecting another sukuk rental payment next week, I have to dig deep because I don't want this delay to happen to me.

I did all my sukuks with lotus capital and the rentals have never missed the payment dates.

Pls let's know if there are any outstanding rentals for last week and the broker used.
Yes it is very true that a day without payment is a loss and today will make it about 6 days loss on that rent for me. However, I have discovered what went wrong and I am trying to see how it can be corrected. The fault is neither from me nor Morgan as I thought implied.

It is an error from CSCS. They did not input my account number correctctly hence the transaction failed. In the transaction status It was showing Invalid Nuban Number. I don't know how fast they treat complaint but it is something that could be done immediately.

I have not received mine. I purchased through afrinvest. I was told that its paid I. Several batches. I suppose we give it a few days.
It should not be that way. Investor are given dates of rental payments for a reason. Millions of people invest in treasury and get their pay back on due date except it falls on weekends or public holiday. The due day for this was on a business day and it didn't come through. I had plans for the coupon and they have scattered it. Also the 2 days delay is to attract something too. If it is to be paid in batches collection would have been in batches too. Those scrambling to scoop ETI now are not fools. Remember; buy on the deep!
I am not analyst but to be very sincere with you, something is fundamentally wrong with ETI, they swallowed a dead big animal that refused to digest. I used to operate a salary account with them. I started seeing some signs that all is not well with their services not long after they took over that Oceanic Bank but was hesitant in moving because of the bureaucracy in changing a salary account where I work. I had to summon courage last year ending to do because of incessant network unavailability, unreliability and general poor service delivery.

Around Abuja and its environs where I reside, several branches have been shut down. There used to be 2 branches in Gwarimpa, now 1 has been closed with the other offering epileptic services. Same thing with Kubwa, Garki Area 3 had 1 main Ecobank now closed. Garki area 7 and 8 have 1 branch each adjacent to each other. The one in Area 8 is so poor in service that sometimes operations is halted when there is no electricity from AEDC. Another one in shippers plaza, wuse zone 5 now closed. Madalla branch is also now closed(Though the closure of this is said to due to the planned expansion of road Abuja- Kaduna.

They may be others branches closed that I have not even observed. Most times their ATM machine will pay other bank customers but for their customers carrying their cards " Issuer will be inoperative". It is only easier to cash money from accounts with them through POS.

All these plus the fact that they do even not pay dividend these days make it seem very unappealing to me.
