(1) And as of today, are you sure that the months you quoted are still valid?

(2) The people you referred to have tendered some valid reasons as well. Perhaps you might need to be reminded that yall are in no position to determine what should or what shouldn't be NLNG'S priorities.

(3) Haaaa bro. 'In the face of evil' ke? Really? SMH

For the potential CIA agents in here. I will be back soon to give yall an assignment...
I beg to disagree with you on the bolded up there. No one is trying to determine what NLNG'S priorities are or aren't at the moment. We are simply deliberating on something that clearly affects our lives. Something you were once a part of. We only ask to be treated fairly and not left like this in the dark because it's difficult on us having to endure such a wait.

Critic

A Critic is someone who finds fault with something and expresses an unfavorable opinion.
The word Critic came into English by way of latin, tracing back to the greek word krinein, meaning “judge, decide.”

If you’re a Critic, you’re essentially judging something — and finding it lacking. Critic can be used broadly to describe any person expressing an unfavorable view, but there are professional Critics as well, such as people who review movies or music. In that context, the word describes someone who thoughtfully assesses something, either favorably or negatively.

Primary Meanings of Critic
1. Someone who frequently finds fault or makes harsh and unfair judgments
Also you may give us the etymology and definition of cynicism and overt pessimism which I believe also qualifies our guy.

Love his xter though because pple like that give us a constant reality check to avoid getting lost in our vague fantasies. #respectman

So @majekdom2, freeradical and vantage7, please help reword these paragraphs so that we can have something more polite or should we simply expunge?

Secondly, can we have two or three more options so that we can compare. Let's not limit ourselves to this one.

"Before applying for this job in November 2013 some of us already participated in the NNPC recruitment that stalled since 2012 so we were nonchalant at first about another Nigerian recruitment. "

"Because of our keen interest, we have followed details of your announcement on anything financial and we believe that our annual remuneration which most likely is the reason for this delay when converted to USD is too insignificant at the moment relying on facts and figures from your company as a basis. (1USD/305NGN-Parallel market rate)".

"Sir, someone once spoke about this recruitment being debated on a radio and at the moment it seems like we are competing with NNPC for longest running recruitment. We believe we are better than this sir".
Left to me no need to reword these paragraphs but expunge them entirely from the write up because of the controversy that could trail it's interpretation. Also we don't want the mail to be too verbose and risk boring the man before making our point

The two paragraphs I bolded from your initial write up are very okay and should form the body of the mail before rounding up with a request for update on the process.

Thanks for your faith in me @freeradical. I like the way we intend to go about the collective protest in a moderate way.

I doubt if NLNG can cancel the recruitment but we must be careful. I have been hearing some rumblings of rain before the end of the 6th month.

It's just that at the moment all these sauces can give person constipation.

My suggested timelines for Protest:

End of Q2-Moderate Request for position of matters through Email. (Twitter will cause bad market and publicity for them, make we leave am for now). Everyone can create an email address with their monikers which will be put in copy. We can create an email address with Online.Recruitment@domain.com which we will use to send the email or 2013 NLNG recruitment@domain.com.

3rd Anniversary- We can move to twitter, create twitter handles matching our monikers and then congratulate them for the longest running recruitment in Nigeria. We can paste the email below on their FB page if we wish:

The Managing Director,
Nigeria LNG Limited
Intels Aba Road Estate
KM 16 Port Harcourt-Aba Expressway,
Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria

Dear Sir,
RE: FEEDBACK ON GRADUATE TRAINEE RECRUITMENT

We are your prospective GTs and we am writing this letter to you with all humility and due respect believing it will get to you at the top.

Before applying for this job in November 2013 some of us already participated in the NNPC recruitment that stalled since 2012 so we were nonchalant at first about another Nigerian recruitment.

Some of us wrongly believed at the time that most Nigerian companies are birds of the same feather.
Some of us must have been among the last set of people to submit their resumes as we were more interested in sending the advert to our unemployed friends than in applying.

After applying, we read the facts and figures for 2013 and started to see that we made a very right choice by applying. The one that never ceases to touch us is when we read the profiles of the Management team and we are amazed to see a team of very intelligent people that have risen to the top through hard work and a track record of excellence. To know that this crop of the crème de la crème of Nigerian intellects will be the ones steering the company and also be our managers and bosses very soon is nothing short of thrilling.

You sir, started as a Chemistry and Mathematics Teacher to become the NLNG MD. This apparently is not by mistake as one can easily see from your profile that you handled key positions well in the past and made the best out of them, the DMD a very knowledgeable and widely experienced guru, GM- Production-Mr. Chima Isilebo, a man that truly represents excellence from what we have seen on his profile and we are not surprised he is in charge of the plant complex.

The GM-Commercial , Finance, External Relations, HR, NLNG Shipping, General Counsel equally have tremendously intimidating profiles and any of all profiles listed above can be used to motivate countless people anywhere in the world on how to reach the top through an excellent mindset.

This triggered our awareness in your company and after much research, we also found out that NLNG is a truly global company in terms of contribution to the Nigerian economy, community impact and staff welfare.

Our desire to become one of you grew from nonchalance to a wish and then to this big dream of ours.

Because of our keen interest, we have followed details of your announcement on anything financial and we believe that our annual remuneration which most likely is the reason for this delay when converted to USD is too insignificant at the moment relying on facts and figures from your company as a basis. (1USD/305NGN-Parallel market rate).

We also believe that judging from the quality of talents that have been exuded during our discussions on social media that the benefit of us resuming as quickly as possible will eventually exceed the cost even if the target recruits are not scaled down as the market price is cyclical in nature and will not remain at this level for too long.

Sir, it is widely reported that NLNG invested in assets up to the tune of $14bn even in the midst of lowering prices, our salaries at most over 35 years of service will most likely not top $420mn and the fact that with time we will be the ones that will be entrusted to manage the $14bn plus assets speaks volumes about our benefits to NLNG in the long run.

Sir, someone once spoke about this recruitment being debated on a radio and at the moment it seems like we are competing with NNPC for longest running recruitment. We believe we are better than this sir.

We are a global first class truly Nigerian company. We are pacesetters. We believe people should learn from NLNG on how to do things. We would like to appreciate the HR a lot under your guidance on how they have responded to uncertainties in this recruitment ranging from Ebola Virus to Oil price fluctuations.

We want to specially thank you for approving the takeoff of this recruitment and we truly believe that you will listen to our pleas and approve the wrap up of this recruitment.

We hope this gets to you some way, somehow and we hope it makes you smile.

Thanks for taking the pain to read our documented plea.

Your soon to be staff,
NLNG GTs 2013

But for now let's be patient. The patient dog often eats the fattest bones.
The bolded sections are quite good and your write up is fantastic although I agree with @majekdom2 on the need to be courteous on how we refer to one of their parent companies and not talk about our salaries because we really can't say for sure if that's what is stalling the process and we don't want to create that impression that we take decisions based on mere speculation rather than fact. From the two bolded parts we can make a more concise mail and conclude by seeking for re-assurance that we have not been forgotten and if possible a reason behind the current delay.

I also agree that we chill a bit say till end of June before embarking on this.

I see where @prelinctus got his recent skepticism from. On 25th April, someone twitted to Oga babs handle enquiring about the NLNG GT recruitment and the man responded that NLNG had recently contacted participants from the ac with relevant info. He then responded immediately that they will endeavour to provide regular feedback on the progress of the exercise. The enquirer then politely thanked him for his prompt response and went ahead to remind the NLNG boss that the last feedback we got was 3 months ago though we continue to wait.

I think with what this blessed soul has done there is no need for us to send another enquiry to Babs anymore. I believe now that he is already aware and the monitors from HR dept that frequent this site would also know that even on nairaland people are beginning to grow restless on their lack of feedback.

Let's wait and see what happens in the coming days.

We can create a twitter handle say @nlngrecruitment2013 and follow Oga babs on twitter. From that handle we drop our enquiry. That way they know it's coming from a collective group and it carries more weight as the top decision maker is directly reached.
I do not think they would blame us for towing this path. If they do that will be quite inconsiderate of them. We just need closure so we can all move on. Like someone said we can't allow fear to rule us now. If they decide to cancel then fine we know it's not meant to be....i'm certain time will heal that disappointment. I only enjoin all of us to never stop believing in ourselves. God has blessed us with tremendous potential. Whether in NLNG or out we would still do great things.

Let's go ahead and do this.

The wait is somewhat annoying, and it's understandable if we feel agitated.

What we should ask ourselves is if there is anything we could do to voice our discomfort in this delay without undermining the process.

Venting our displeasure in the delay without channeling it towards a result will only provide emotional succour but it doesn't change the status quo.

I will suggest like before, that we should bombard them with mild email requesting updates on the process.

Remember, this was what we were about doing in January, before they sent the last emails.
This isn't a bad suggestion. It may just work out. Let's get to it then. Make a draft of the mail seeking for update on the process and paste here for all to endorse.

A lot of energy is dissipated in the expression of emotions.

Some people can be seen to vibrate literally when angry.

Energy cannot be destroyed but can be transformed from anger catalysts to energy for something creative.

This NLNG wait is a big lesson on patience and I am still learning.

At the end of the day, what will be yours in this particular context will be yours, if it is to be yours. Afterall you have no control over the process.
Bros whether we vibrate and expend energy or stay calm and patiently wait it changes nothing in the grand scheme of things. Whether NLNG calls one or not changes nothing either. We have nothing to lose if we say things the way they are. The wait is on all of us and wait we shall. The reason we have a thread is that once in a wyl we share emotions, ideas and information. People need to say their minds....its healthier for them that way. It doesnt make them less patient in the least.

@freeradical all ur pondering on this issue though not new are totally rational. However, all I see at play here is just Nigerians being Nigerians i.e. “they will wait jare”.
As Kaitung posited a while back, from recent reports I fear for the company’s future unless they put their acts together within the next 3 years.

By the way anyone up for twerking to mark AC anniversary? Or do we prefer e-protests?
Mehn my guy I hope you know NLNG use words in a different context so when they said they recently communicated info to AC participants it can mean quite a number of things.

If anybody tells me that he still has the same level of optimism for this job as he had say 2 years ago then i will show you the face of a shameless liar. Imagine if NLNG had a rival company that recruited around the same period they did I'm sure they would not let this thing drag to this extent. Even if they call now people will answer out of the fact that they have invested much of their time(Imagine 3years of someones active youthful age) to this and deserve some sought of reward for that effort. So they accept it as a consolation prize not because they feel so excited.

Good thing though is that with the right motivation, zeal can always be re-kindled grin wink

Na wa o. So that's how these NLNG people will just keep mute. I thought 'caring for others' was one of the core values. These guys are breaking hearts.
The way they are delaying, do they plan to add another stage?
They should be able to make a forecast based on the current situation and start making moves. Havent seen anything from 'sauces' for sometime, guess they're tired too. Hope they say something soon sad
I have never understood the rationale for saying they will only call when oil price hits a certain benchmark and these are my reasons why
1. NLNG has not recruited GTs since 2007. This is a whooping 9years gap and therefore I suppose that sustainability of the business is the major driving factor for this recruitment when they conceived the idea in 2013. Not because NLNG likes us and wants to put us in their payroll. They know that the business would live into the future and as people reach retirement age or resign due to one reason or another, there is a pool of younger and well versed talents ready to take over the running of the business.
2. The NLNG board should have held a meeting and taken a decision on the minimum and maximum number of successfuls they can absorb considering the economic situation. If they had failed to do this then it explains why the whole process hit this roadblock today. They should have done their calculations and come up with figures based on the least oil price, the current oil price and the highest oil price forcast and come up with the number of GTs they would take in depending on the prevailing economic position. It is with this document that the recruitment team will tailor the whole exercise to achieve successfuls given the criteria defined by the company management team
3. Everybody in the oil and gas industry knows that the price of oil is always cyclic. It rises up to a peak stays there for some time and later it falls only to later start rising gradually again. So its even at periods of low prices like this that major investments are made because the cost of these projects varies directly with oil price. So far the oil price has not gone below the profit benchmark and our worst fears didnt materialize (when most production facilities have to shutdown). This means that profit is still being made though less than past years when prices were moderate. So why not call some people now and waitlist the others pending when the business climate is more favourable. That way you protect your image from bad press and every applicant feels satisfied as they know their fates. Thats a win-win for both parties. Keeping us in the dark is a direct opposition to their claim of being caring. For how long are we going to sit down and wait for NLNG to make a decision that directly affects our lives. A company that cares would have atleast in the last mail they sent defined how long their "in due course" was. If you tell us, Okay we have personal issues we have to sort out we would get back to you lot in 6months....that sounds more like a caring personality than telling people that they will hear from you in due course.

I do not mean to embark on such tirade but truth has to be said. In the end I believe that we are not begging NLNG but giving them reason why this recruitment has to be given a definite end. They just have to make that decision for both our sakes!

prelinctus:
How would you feel if you were told that some people resumed recently?
Calling some people to resume is not a problem. NLNG reserves the right to the number of candidates it wants to employ from this recruitment. What is expected of them is to act like a responsible company and get this thing over with. If one is not picked now I doubt it will make any difference because the zeal to work for NLNG has really grown cold on every body. Almost everyone is now planning his life beyond NLNG so there is no big deal. NLNG is only a means to end and not the end in itself. There are endless possibilities for us out there and only those that seek these opportunities will find them.

By the way I do not think anyone has been called yet because from the circle of peeps I know still left no one has been contacted. And it is quite a substantial number.

This recruitment has become something else. 3 football league seasons have been executed in the same period and we are still here waiting on some folks to make a decision. I wonder if at the end of the day those selected wont take this job as a price and give half measures to it. This is wrong on every front and only a country as degenerate and backward as Nigeria can such mediocrity be condoned. Imagine that many hopefuls will even give excuse for the company as per why the recruitment has dragged on for this long. Well we shall most definitely see the end of this joke....because its no longer worthy to be termed a recruitment.

2. You don't get any advantage for using visaexperts (Agents), they only capitalizes on people's lack of information to make business. Its the same route for all. I hope that was helpful. Good luck.

On the average how much more can one spend working with these visaexperts compared to working alone. And is it advisable to pull out if one has already started the process with an agent midway?

These questions are for the heavyweights of this thread. The likes of zandora, jesusdway, irondome and dupyshoo.

1. Why does everyone do ECA via WES. What special advantage does WES have over CES and the other bodies that are approved by CIC to do credential assessment?
2. What advantages are there to work with these accredited law firms like canadianvisaexpert if one can foot their service cost?

I appreciate your individual responses on these questions.

First of all, how u doing baby and how are you coping with the wait?

About your request, I don't know your background cos I want to explain the implications and only engineers or guys with science backgrounds can have full understanding.

See, consider the uniport chics as engineers who come to a facility to relieve pressure from that facility in order for the facility to continue functioning safely. For a system that operates under pressure, sometimes it becomes absolutely necessary to vent pressure when it builds up to limits that are considered unsafe. It is this venting that the uniport chics (ordinary engineers) come to do. So, if we stop importing the ordinary engineers now and keep waiting for the Special engineer (you) what do you think will happen to the facility when the pressure has built up to unsafe levels? And the problem is we don't even know when the arrival of the special engineer is scheduled for.

But on the arrival of the special engineer on site, we can always sack the ordinary engineers and close down the importer-exporter business. Thats not a problem. Abi how you take check am?
What....overpressure relief valve? Kai!

At every point I log on the number of guests viewing this thread is very few. Most times about 2 or 3 max. This shows that 50% is a quite conservative estimate. So adding that we have 105 left nationwide. Factoring a poll error of +/- 10% I'd say we are between 90-115 candidates vying for the available GT slots.

Could it be that the powers that be in the land have reserved a quota for their wards leaving nlng with a small chunk to choose from those that actually merit to get the Job. Could it be that this delay has nothing to do with oil price at all but the moral confusion the recruitment team is facing because of issues such as this. NLNG is as juicy as CBN and I know relatives of these high and mighty politician wouldn't mind working with her and would use their own whims to get there. I really hope I'm wrong in all this cos it wont be funny at all.
