Well, that's how life is I guess. If a company wants to recruit 2 people and out of 15 interviewed, 10 ace the process. Will u call dropping 8 people out of the 10 wicked? They have a certain no they want, more than that no passed the preset cutoff, then they have to have their ways and criteria to make their final selection.
I do not doubt you when you said they will still send more regret mails but I still think it is not fair to still drop someone that has come this far. To get to this stage you must have proven your competence in every areas you were accessed. Maybe I'm being too emotional about this after all we all know life isn't fair. They reserve the right to even cancel the recruitment outright. Though I feel its not just about what they can or cannot do but what they will do(because what you do defines who you are). In the end fate wins.

Well we wait!

That's not cruel. That's why they didn't use the word 'successful'. Recruitment is still in process, anything can happen.
It is to me. Which criteria will they now use to screen out somebody that has aced all the written test, ac, even the background tests that wouldn't be downright prejudiced and outrightly wicked!

Not to sound like a spoilsport though, but definitely those of us that got the 'in due course' email are just those that passed the AC cut-off. Forget all the talk about them not wanting to make a commitment. The people that passed this AC are more than the amount that they had initially wanted to pick (about 120 before they then wanted to reduce the no), and yes some of us sadly will still be let go. If it's any consolation, at least we know we were successful at the AC. Some sorta morale booster that is.

Anyway, let's just keep our minds open. Good thing is that we knw our odds have largely increased and our chances of joining @Forkadict are better, bad thing is that we dont know how long this carefully-crafted 'in due course' will be. All is well IJN. Amen.

I really don't understand you guys.. so you're saying the present economic situation isn't enough reason to reduce the number of intakes or delay the recruitment? Really? How do they cater for all the intakes given the situation? Shell, Chevron etc have sacked so many staff members, does it mean they don't have plans for the future? Or the sacked staff weren't productive? undecided How can you put your company at the mercy of an uncertain future? If your revenue generation declines, you have to find ways to reduce costs immediately. .or you want them to fund the administrative costs from their reserves? undecided .... If in the future things change and they need more hands, they can always employ.. Companies that were earning maybe trillions, now earn billions and you're telling them to act like everything is ok? How many oil companies are recruiting at this time? Many have put theirs on hold.. Oil price is fast declining and you're telling them to incur more expenses? When they should be looking for ways to cut costs. . Besides, they have many productive staff; not like no staff already..

You're just being sentimental if you say the current situation isn't enough reason for delay or whatever.. it's just unfortunate the oil price saga is happening at this time... You guys should just be patient...
You may not be totally wrong but the other guys too have a solid argument. You cannot compare NLNG with shell just like that because both companies operate different recruitment policies. Shell I know recruits graduates every year through their srd and sitp programs. They can afford to stop their recruitment for the next 5 years and still have the right people in their value chain. NLNG on the other hand last took graduates in 2007(a whooping 8years back). Even if the company has a very low staff turnover rate I believe they still require fresh hand who will take over the reins of the business for continuity sake. Besides do you expect people to still be doing the same jobs after almost a decade. To motivate staffs on NLNGs payroll you need to move them to higher jobs if not you risk having a drop in their productivity. That is what I feel led to our recruitment which started by 2013. If this is the case they should not allow any little short term hiccup to derail them. They should go ahead and execute the plan. Time is also very key. The earlier they take the GTs the earlier they reap the productivity that will come from each single individual they will take. If the recruitment had not been so fickle in the past by now they probably would have taken the initial number they need and nobody will be talking about oil price crash.

Though I agree that it also makes good business sense to cut costs even on the short term by reducing the number of intakes that's why I prefer they wait list some but there is no reasonable argument as to further delaying the resumption of the GTs. The truth is that they need GTs if they plan to continue doing business so they should just get it over with.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: 2013 Nigeria Liquified Natural Gas (NLNG) Graduate Trainee by freeradical(m): 9:48pm On Jan 26, 2016
vantage7:
Okay, let me add my own conjecture to the discourse. I say the ones that got the "still in the running" mail make up the number of GTs NLNG originally planned to take in subject to passing a medical. Now however, given the economic situation they've realized they might need to cut down on that number. So now they're facing a number of options:
1. Be bold in the face of economic adversity and employ all, focusing on planning for the future of the company.
2. Employ some and wait-list the rest for such a time when things will begin to look up in the industry (even though some here have made reasonable arguments against the logic of wait-listing GT candidates)
3. Trim down the number of intakes outright which means some who got the "still in the running" mail will get a regret mail eventually.

And in the case of option 2 or 3, how do they intend to make the final selection? On what basis? Do they simply raise the cutoff (perhaps per department and also based on FC if it is in play)? Or will they create yet another assessment stage?

Like I said This is just open-minded conjecture so feel free to strike out any highly improbable scenario with good reasons.
I think their best option is 1. Before a company would initiate such a recruitment process it must have carefully analysed the need for it inline with its sustainability plan. You recruit because you want your company to survive into the future so the major factors driving recruitment should be long term. From history we know that oil prices behave cyclically meaning that the current fall in process will only last for the short term. Prices will definitely go back up and when they do only companies that are prepared with the right set of both human and capital resources will thrive. NLNG shud stick to their initial plan and take the number they planned from onset.
The reasons given by someone above clearly explains why option 2 may not be a so great idea but if the company decides to adopt this it is still not so bad.

Adopting options 3 is a disaster for a supposed world class company because it will only mean that the NLNG mgt embarked on this recruitment process without carefully aligning its purpose with the companies goals. Furthermore it will make a mockery of whatever damage control they are trying to do by giving the unsuccessful candidates closure on the progress of their recruitment because it will mean that more candidates will be getting regret mails in the near or far future depending on when they decide to call.

I'm sure our discourse here is being monitored by the recruitment team so I encourage all to contribute meaningfully to this topic. Maybe our good arguments will aid the team in making the right call.

Once again congrats to those who still kindle the hope and all the best to those who have left us at this stage.

BusinessBane Of Customer Service In Nigeria: My Experience With Mtn by freeradical(op):
About 2 weeks ago, I got a text msg from MTN informing me of the need to visit any of their customer service centers and register my sim. I was both perplexed and angryat the same time because this was going to be the 3rd time I will have to go to their office for the same sim registration exercise. The last one I did was not even up to six months ago. Even for a person with a proven record of patience, I am pretty sure that having to go through MTN's sim registration exercise for a 3rd time is enough to stretch the limits of his patience beyond it's break point. Driving past their office on my way to and from work everyday and watching how people haplessly queue up under extreme weather conditions in this harsh harmattan season just in a bid to save their "precious" MTN lines from termination I writ inside with pain, disgust and anger at how low a multi-national such as MTN has placed it's money-makers such that every power or dignity which customers should have is being stripped away from them because me and my fellow countrymen have chosen to be treated that way.
This morning after completing 14hours of night shift on my way home I decided to make a quick stop at the MTN center (Somewhere in the southern part of Kaduna city), since the insufferable queue has abated and there was even space to park in front. I entered and was ushered to sit in a short queue to await my turn with the customer service rep. When it got to my turn I explained to the rep my predicament of doing two previous sim registrations with the penultimate one done in this same center I'm lodging the complaint. I noticed that he was more concerned with searching for my details on the system than listening to what I even had to say. In the end he scribbled down on a small piece of paper my number and the word "fresh" and asked me to head on to the other side of the building and join a queue where someone will attend to me. Then he shouted, next person! I was like is that all....He continued, just move over to the other side someone will attend to you. I stood up still confused and walked to the where I was directed and saw all the people who had gone before me seated in line on a fresh queue. It dawned on me that this was going to take longer than I expected. I went back to the CS rep and asked him how long it will take for me to complete the process and he said ....please go over to the other queue someone will attend to you. I fumed with anger inside me because it seems MTN have started employing robots to attend to human customers. I told myself I wasn't cut out for this and stormed out of the place into my car. As I was about to drive out I had another thought.......perhaps I should give these guys a piece of my mind before I leave. I went back inside and told the CS rep that I felt its un-professional the way he handled my case. Why in the world will he fail to give me an explanation as to what happened to the previous 2 sim registrations I did. Even if he would not render a reasonable explanation for my inquiry courtesy demand that he feels my pulse and beckon on my soft side by atleast offering some form of apology or showing concern. As I was still talking another CS rep lady spoke up in defence of her colleague but I wouldn't let her speak further as I pointed out that the folly in their actions without mincing words.
The AI humanoid rep I was even talking to still buried his head in his computer screen without making any eye contact with me "the angry customer" or bothered to offer any form of apology on behalf of the company. Well, what more can I do but walk out for the last time and telling myself this time I turn my back for good.

The only reasonable explanation for the poor customer satisfaction most MTN subscribers have is the subscribers themselves. I do not blame MTN one bit.....I blame each and every MTN subscriber out there that will quickly rush to stand under the rain or sun just because MTN sends you a text to come do an exercise you have probably done before in the past without any explanation. These guys cannot even try a minute fraction of the bullcrap they give to Nigerians in their home country. Does it means we Nigerians are so intellectually inept that we take anything that is thrown our way? The only time we speak out is when we want to fight ourselves(ethnic, tribal and religious warfare)....that's when you see the strength of a typical Nigerian. We cannot unite and hold our leaders accountable for their actions. Same way we cannot as consumers unite and tell whoever provides the service we pay for that we demand quality and fair treatment (as civilized individuals). When consumers of a commodity forget the power they wield they sell themselves cheap to the manufacturer and play into their hands. Will I beg MTN not to terminate my line....NEVER!!. Who will lose?....definitely not me because I pay good money to buy recharge cards and buy data. If they do not care about my little drop to their revenue then we would see who will have the last laugh when other customers start latching on to my line of thought due to bad service and eventually jump ship. Also the fear of losing my old contacts is unfounded as the world right now is has a cesspool on peoples profile so you can search and get the contact of anyone one the various social media platform if you know how to look. Also any official feedback that I may be expecting is not at risk because they have my e-mail and contact address(even next of kin info). So if I want to damn MTN they will lose 100% and me 0%. Enough is enough....Nigerians,please have some dignity for yourselves. That 100naira recharge card you load every other day may seem small to you but in the grand scheme of things it goes into a pool that in the end pays the salary of that insolent MTN CS representative that will deny you any explanation as to why your line was dis-engaged due to one shabby exercise you had toiled to do before. That your 4naira they deduct when you send text message gives you the power to say No....stop this or I will go!. You don't have to become a savage and burn down their office or act violently like some of my countrymen did in Owerri to teach these guys that you have the power. The best way to show MTN we are not fools is for us to start dignifying ourselves. If I do not get a good explanation as to why the previous sim regs I did was nullified or what was done with the bio-data I had entrusted to them twice then they can go to hell with their sulky sim card because I don't need it. They have my contact info if they value my money they should look for me. I wont cower before them and in the end still give them my hard earned money.

Sorry guys for my harsh tone of words.....its the way these guys have made me feel this morning. Feliz Navidad great Nairalanders

Good thing that you are aware it is the government that has failed us, and not 'other tribes' as is always peddled. This government we talk of is made up of people from every single tribe, yet for political convenience and through decades of political manipulations, we have been deceived to believe that the failure of our governments (at the local level) is caused by forces from other tribes. How we have swallowed this lie for decades and allowed it to sink into our psyches is what I term, 'mental slavery.'

If you carry out your investigations meticulously, you will realise that not only does every other tribe in Nigeria suffer from the same injustice the Igbos suffer from but also, the main actors behind the injustice (in the case of infrastructural neglect in the SE) are actually some dubious unpatriotic Igbo leaders who go to Abuja to oil their pockets only. Until we purge our minds of the effects of these decades of misdiagnosis and look inwards, we will never be able to see this glaring fact.

In my opinion, the biggest problem faced by Igbos are Igbo leaders (at the local and national level). Until we learn to look inwards and channel this revolution to tackle this local problem, we will be wasting our time if we continue to fight outsiders. Even if a separation is achieved without FIRST tackling this problem of unpatriotic dubious leaders, Biafra would be nothing but chaos. Before we start talking of what 'others' are doing to us, we must first talk about what we are doing to clean our own house.
My point is that it is difficult for Nigerians to have that unity of purpose which is what drives nation building because the various ethnicities hardly see themselves as one. America is like the model multi ethnic nation in the world but what people fail to realize is that they were able to rise above their challenges because they had a strong unity to drive out their oppressor from their land. Here independence was handed over to us on a platter by the Brits in a neo-colonialist sense and they pitch us against one another thereby gaining control over us. If the other ethnic groups are also sincerely suffering from neglect due to bad governance I expect that they support the s.easterners and also clamor for their own self actualization. We need to have unity of purpose if not we can never be a nation.

What you term injustice is the igbos are not well represented in the highest level of Government isn't it? Why don't u look at it this way, wiv all the hausas, yorubas and even ijaw man that has ruled this country, what have the average people in that region gained?

This thinking is what leads us to keep fighting the wrong battle.
What I term injustice isn't even about an igbo leading the government but rather the gross neglect of infrastructure amongst other things. Do u think that if Nigeria is functioning well with right infrastructure and a sound economic index which translate to the common man on d street in all regions that any body will clamour to secede? Truth is that our governments have failed us and due to our tribalistic and nepotistic tendencies we can never unite and fight the government to give us what we expect.

Nice write up but I'm afraid you didn't touch the burning platform in all this struggle for seccession. What is the state of Nigeria doing about the perceived injustice from the south easterners? Remember that an angry man will never think straight. How many times have the citizenry of this country in unity come out to challenge the whims of the government? Do you realm believe that Nigerians would ever outgrow their tribalistic and nepotistic tendency? Does the multi ethnic state of Nigeria function as others take for example the US? If you can answer this questions with all sincerity then you will see things from the other sides of the prism and you yourself will start asking the right questions.

If this news is true, OBJ erred and it's a sign of abdicating his responsibility. It's wrong for any agency of the government, especially the most vital one at that (NNPC) to be allowed to be run as a separate entity by allowing it to keep such dividends.

The decision is bad even if the equity was paid for by the federal government and even worse if by the "federation".
I don't see anything wrong with OBJs directive for nnpc to keep their share of the dividends for the sole purpose of re-investment because that is the only way the gas sector will grow and in future generate more funds for the three tiers of govt to share if they like. The problem is the corruption in nnpc which has made these monies disappear overnight and no one is being held culpable for it. Rid nnpc of corruption and give them d power to operate without fg interference and they will make u money....in an ideal Nigeria by d way.

1.The nuclear non proliferation treaty was borne out of realism. By the time it was signed.....several nations were nuclear armed. With bombs more powerful than those dropped at Hiroshima and Nagasaki.Everybody got scared.

And one could argue that Hiroshima and Nagasaki's bombings influenced the NPT. After all....we know how bad nuclear bombs are. Best we sign this treaty.(Out of bad things comes good things).

2.Pearl Harbor happened in 1941. America's nuclear bomb project was completed by 1945. And the Japanese too had a nuclear bomb project.(Infact, the reason why the Japanese did not surrender after Hiroshima...was that they thought the Americans did not have enough fissile material for two bombs. They were wrong).

Also, the Japanese conquered a lot of Asian countries (mostly colonies of the European powers,)...and instead of giving them their independence turned them into Japanese colonies. And they oppressed the people. Bad move.
Still doesn't cut it for me. If you are gonna fight evil do it with good not with a greater evil. I'd prefer they invaded Japan and engaged d Japanese army in conventional warfare than taking this cowardly option of mass murdering innocent civilians with such a horrific weapon.

I also agree that some good came out from these bombings afterwards as every country have forcibly embraced peace out of the fear of being another Hiroshima.

It was quite surprising to me that there wasn't even a single female in my ac group (both upper and lower floors). I dunno if this is because very few ladies made it beyond the shl stage. It seems the females are already cheating themselves by not resonating at the same high intellectual standards as their male counterparts. Not that I'm generalizing cos I know there are some outstanding ladies out there but the lot of our women occupy their minds with frivolities rather than aim to reach their full God given potential. So gender equality or not I don't see how the male to female ratio in this exercise will be 1:1....even if they decide to shun performance and take all d females that are left grin

@tk4rd. you want make i pray harder, the next thing is dry fasting oh
hehheheh
dry fasting till NLNG sends the reply
Bros you no be Moses oo or Jesus wey fast for 40Days and nights.. grin. Calm down you too are among the heavyweights as far as brilliance is concerned...infact we all are. That's why we got this far. But I dnt think brilliance alone will get one beyond dis point. You didn't go with the others for their own assessments so there is no yardstick for comparison with yours. Deep down in our minds we all feel that we could have done better. But we all had to think on our feet that day as no one knew what to expect beforehand. That is why its important we remain discreet as not to give the ph peeps an undue edge over us.
We have all done our best because given d same conditions I don't think our individual performance will differ much if asked to repeat the exercise. All what's left now is for us to pray and hope.
By his grace we will overcome

Sometime back while we were still waiting for nlng to call for the AC, I made a comment here on how cruel it will be for nlng to drop anyone still left in this race. I can see now that d same fear has crept into the minds of many here. I know that we all cannot be taken at the same time but for the sake of all what we have invested in this recruitment emotionally which cannot be quantified I pray that by some miracle this happens even if its in batches.

I wont even wish my enemy a regret mail at this point of this recruitment but in the end what will be will be.

Everywhere in the world, teachers play a vital role in training, coaching and determining the quality of education and this is critical to sustainable national development.

As it is widely said, the children are the future of the nation and whatever you do for a child ultimately impacts the nation.

Collection of applications will open today, 20th May 2015 and last till 30th June 2015. Interested teachers are to download application forms HERE! Applications forms should be completed and uploaded to the website or sent by post to P.M.B. 12632, Marina, Lagos..
