Please how I need someone to assist me with a good contact for Nigeria PCC. Thank you |
Osemigho:PM sent! |
My first post ITA inquiry goes thus: Where can I do PCC as I'm currently based in the southeast? |
Osemigho:No qualms man. I'd do my best to clear any queries u may have. You know there r far more knowledgeable ppl in dat other room ![]() |
Am4obama:Visit the travel section of Nairaland and look for the thread titled Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here. Read every page from 0 to last and then u will know what u have to do. After reading if u get confused u can ask me any case specific question. All the best. |
Good day my fellow aspiring Canada scholars. Congratulations to all those who were offered admission especially those who got full funding. Regrettably for me I haven't been able to secure a supervisor for both schools I applied to McGill and UBC that are willing to confirm my admission provided I secure a supervisor. I wrote no less than 60 different potential supervisors from both schools and was rejected by all of them. Despite my high CGPA and fact that I got good recommendations and a published work none of them seem interested. They all had very convenient excuses to give. Well even though I still have till end of the month to find supervisor I think the handwriting on the wall is clear enough for me. So on that note I will bow out from this race. Hey, it's not all doom and gloom for me though. Today I got ITA to apply for express entry under FSW. So I will work with that. Hopefully when I enter Canada my masters application will be more fruitful. You guys have been great esp d gurus helping people out packaging their applications. @ Osemigho....start packing your bags and buy your one way ticket to Calgary I know Ur TRV is on the way already. I wish u all success in your academic endeavours. Go to those Canada schools and excel. Show them what stuffs we Nigerians are made of. Be the best! Peace.....Ciao! |
Finally so this ITA reach me... Praise be to God. This Canada journey really requires a lot of patience. I started the process since April 2016. By August I entered d pool and my score was 433. I gave up all hope. If I took anoda ielts and maxed out with my spouse it will only fetch me additional 10 pts. I just had a believe that scores will fall. I even applied for SINP twice but was deemed ineligible because of NOC not in demand. I was always with mixed feelings whenever people fill dis thread with excitement on getting ITA. Thank God today I finally got mine. After I lost 5pts on my birthday in February I felt another urge to retake ielts. I just decided to chill until June to see how d draws play out. I was gutted when scores moved up from 434 to 441 after a 3+weeks interval in March. Was surprised when I opened this thread this morning to see that there has been another ITA deluge and the cut off was 423. For all those who have endured this long wait like me for ITA I say congratulations. In d end our efforts didn't go to waste. For those still in the pool just hang in there. Do your best to maximize your points and stay hopeful. Canada is going to fulfill all our dreams....Remain blessed pple! |
This wait is killing....when will this ITA come? I'm at 428 and till now no ITA yet Still refreshing my yahoo inbox |
Good one. Apart from state legislature I expect Enugu residents to take this matter into their own hands. The best way to protest is with what gives u power. If every customer decides to boycott EEDC by not paying bills until our demands r met we will surely get what we want. Where is NITEL today simply because everyone embraced GSM?....It won't cost us more than what we r already coughing out now for d epileptic services and associated criminal charges of EEDC to make alternative arrangements to power our homes and businesses. Consumers should embrace their greatest weapon which is their money. That gives u the ultimate power |
@PMIcon..... thank u for this thread. I just successfully opened my pharmacy and store in Enugu after going through this thread. I started d process in August last year and now I'm only awaiting full inspection after submitting all documentation and application.. I am not a pharmacist....would u advice I hire a locum pharmacist or manage d place on my own for about 3 months to manage my start up expenses? |
Osemigho:I got alternatives with UBC and McGill but I have to secure supervisors before they confirm my admission status. I'm still expecting a favorable response as I'm writing potential PIs eveeyday. God's will be done in the end |
Blackanada:Thanks man...I didn't know UofT was that competitive before I applied. Only got that info when I joined this thread. The key word here is FAITH and HOPE. Whatever happens life will go on! |
Osemigho:Wow....you really took time to package your applications this year. For me I don't have any supervisors in UofT. How do u think this will affect my application? It's stated on their site that international applicants will need to secure a supervisor that will guarantee their funding in case one isn't able to secure a research lab after the 3 rotations. So does this mean its possible I may be given a conditional admission (with the above condition to fulfill) and if that be the case will it pose a problem for TRV application. |
tzipporah:Don't let funds scare you out of not pursuing your dreams of masters study in Canada. If you have a high GPA as claimed then I advise you go for a thesis/research based masters which always comes with funding. It's tougher to get this type of admission because you need to both impress the admission committee of the department and also secure a research supervisor. Follow these tips 1. Using google browse schools that offer your choice program in Canada and study the department's website carefully for entry requirements and availability of faculty members whose area of research you are interested in researching on. 2. Start off by writing to the selected faculty members a detailed mail as to why u want to work with them. Share your academic CV, transcript and any other of your published work so they have an idea of your past experiences. Write as many of them as possible until you secure one who is Willing to supervise you. Ensure you discuss funding with him too. 3. Repeat the process for as many as 3 schools so you don't put all your eggs inside one basket. 4. Apply to the schools online and wait for the admission outcome. 5. When admitted come back and the experts here will guide you on how to package your TRV application. Note that some schools r very competitive compared to others so be sure to spread your applications between these two bands. Also start searching for a sponsor so as proof of sufficient fund is the real obstacle you may encounter in your own specific case. Though with full funding u may even be a self sponsor with as low as 1.5m in your account. |
Osemigho:Choi....thank God u have a good backup. I'm also expecting feedback from UofT and I'm scared stiff as I saw this post. My status has been on Decision made since I checked last week though I'm yet to receive any mail from them. I wrote to the general information handlers of SGS. Did you secure a supervisor before applying to UofT just like you did for Calgary? |
Meanwhile I just checked my Profile for my last application with University of Toronto and it reads Decision made too. This is where it gets exciting ![]() |
Osemigho:My Prof how e wan take embrace himself na shoo. I know you mean he should Brace himself ![]() |
For all those still seeking research supervisors which is now tantamount to a camel passing through the eye of the needle I wish to share what I received today from one of the potential supervisors I wrote to at McGill. Read the link and adjust your strategy. Let's keep the fire burning people. I'm sure it will end in praise. http://web.uvic.ca/delaneylab/research/Gradstrategy.html |
vickyhail:Do not pay a dime to anyone. You are lucky you found this thread as it's a do it yourself forum. Everything you need to know has been thrashed here. What you need to do now is take time and start reading up from page zero until u get familiar with how the express entry system works. If after reading you still need clarifications on any step of the process, feel free to drop by and ask your SPECIFIC question. Take care |
Hello Corp members. Any pharmacist currently serving in Enugu in need of full or part time employment in a community/ retail pharmacy should give me a PM. Have a successful service year. |
5Kay:My case is similar. I'm still expecting ITA at 428 and a new family member around may whom I plan to include in my application. At what point do u suggest I add the child to my application. |
Osemigho:I read the mail too quickly. The graduate program coordinator was just trying to tell me that they are considering me for conditional admission (all international students are given a condition of sending official transcript). She urged me to start contacting the faculty members to discuss funding and research interests even though my application has been made available to them. So it's d same ship of get supervisor and get in that I'm sailing |
dokkitaa:Yes I wrote GRE around July last year for US admission. Scores weren't so great for US but I guess it was OK for them. Score Q155 V150 writing 4.0. My GRE was also required by both UBC and Toronto though it's a program specific requirement. |
ganiyuadeoye:I've answered dis question before. Biochemistry and molecular biology. Your congratulations may be coming too early as the admission isn't secure yet. Still much work to be done. The conditional admission will only come after I secure d supervisor which is proving so difficult. |
dokkitaa:Well, I'm only just an admission seeker but have followed this thread for a while. When u get to d visa application stage a PhD will sell better than another msc but that doesn't mean u can't get your TRV with a well packaged application for masters, good sop where u clearly explain to the visa officer why u r going for another masters and not a PhD. For mine, I started out by googling schools in Canada that offer masters with funding (thesis) in biochemistry (which is my undergraduate course). I came up with McGill, UBC and Toronto. Applied to all three in December and I've started getting feedback from the grad coordinators except Toronto. It's been so difficult securing a positive feedback from supervisors. I dunno if they have prejudice against we Africans. Don't want to dwell on that anyway. I'm still shooting out mails. It's tough work because I have to tailor each mail to suit each faculty member based on their research area. I'm interested in oncology, gene expression and cell biology in that order. So my advice is just take Ur time and do research online. The schools I applied to I later got to know from guys in this forum that my chances r slim as the competition there is very stiff. So u may want to look for schools at the middle of the ranking cos they might be easier. Write the faculty members of these schools first as you r a PhD applicant. Write a compelling mail to them and share your past works, papers that are related to their field and wait for their feedback. You can always apply when you have secured a supervisor. All the best fellow eminent! PS.... UBC doesn't offer biochemistry alone but combine it with Molecular biology. Some schools too are like that. So don't let it put u off its still very much d same as both field are quite interrelated. |
vvvvvvvvvvvvvvv:Biochemistry and Molecular biology |
Where are all the admission seekers....UBC just have me feedback that I have been offered conditional admission by the graduate unit of my program but I have to reach out to the faculty members and associate members to secure a supervisor. I'm sitting on two admission now from both McGill and UBC but securing this supervisor has been my nemesis. God your will be done! |
pedroito:Yes I think you have a point. We have nothing to lose on this one. I support your motion. |
@ Osemigho, a big congratulations are in order. Now you can start your visa application asap so you won't need to defer....u know time na money. God has uplifted u from an ordinary admission seeker now to TRV seeker ![]() We that r still awaiting favourable decisions esp for thesis masters tap into your testimony. It will definitely end in praise. |
Fair enough. In this crucial era of dollar scarcity d recovered loot should ameliorate the rise in forex. My fear tho is that d corrupt ruling class will simply transfer d money to their cronies who will use it to further enrich themselves. If we had a credible judicial system, d office of the public prosecutor will see that every law broken by d perpetrator of this act is charged against him and surely if convicted he pays for committing such an act against the state. But I fear this may just be another selective show of anti corruption. |
On the issue of documents forgery I must say it's quite sad. That is how low our moral values have degenerated in this cesspool of a country. I'm with @penitential on this one. We must all own up to the consequences of our actions. I've no atom of pity for them and I care less if they get help or not. It's sheer wickedness knowing that by towing that line of action they will put other people at risk of getting unfavorable decisions by over suspicious VOs. They knew yet they went ahead. They follow this thread silently and know how to do things right but because of their wickedness they choose to follow d fast lane only to come back here crying for help when d consequencesof their action has found them out. We must call a spade a spade. We should stop trying to sugar coat things anymore. Our youth are heading towards destruction and we shall have no future if we continue in this path we currently are. Nigeria is on fire....let's not treat such issues with kid gloves any longer. ![]() |
