Recently had an accident whilst driving my car. I unexplainably lost control of d wheels and in my efforts to regain control my car sommersaulted and landed in a gutter by the side of the road. I came out unhurt and saw the rosary I put on my mirror still hanging. I knew it was a miracle of our lady. When I bought my car I took it to my parish priest who blest d car and also blest d rosary that I put inside. I even hav a non-catholic friend dat borrowed dis cue from me. I bought a rosary blest it and gave it to him. It hangs still in his car even till dis day.

Most times its spiritual laziness that keeps me from saying my rosary daily but i hav always been aware of its awesome power when said in deep meditation. Leo Adewale: Fellas, I've been pondering lately about the connection Apostle Peter has with the Pope but I seem not to have found any. All I see is a big difference. Your opinions about this matter will be highly appreciated. The things I need enlightment about are:
1) Why is/are the Pope(s) treated with pompousity, given tittles such as Vicar of Jesus Christ, Successor to the Prince of the Apostles, Supreme Pontiff of the Universal Church, e.t.c, given the honours assigned to a head of State while Peter (supposesdly the first pope and bishop of Rome) was treated like a mere fisherman that he was? Remember what Peter did at Acts 10: 25, 26?
2) Is the Pope Peter's descendant? If so, how?
3) Why was Rome, Italy chosen as the sit of the Pope and not Jerusalem? Was it chosen by Apostle Peter? If so, why, since it wasn't stated in the Bible that he was in Rome?
4) Why should the Pope have primacy, claiming to be Peter's successor? Remember that the other apostles NEVER treated Peter with primacy, if they do, they wouldn't have disputed about who is the greatest among them (Luke 22: 24-26).
5) Since Christ is the head of the church, does he need successors since he lives forever and ever?
6) Why didn't (one of) the (past) Pope object to inhuman killings of about 20,000 men, women & children carried out by the Catholic crusaders on the Albigenses (a.k.a Cathari) and also the driving away of Muslims and Jews from Spain?
7) During the medieval times, the Pope sold indulgences. Why should that be since even Jesus Christ drove away traders from the temple in Jerusalem?
Why? Why?? Why Should we believe in the Pope at all?

I have been pondering on the above topic for quite some time and I feel I should throw it open to the house. NL is indeed a good forum to learn and gather ideas. For me I think it's wrong to call on the holy ghost fire on anyone because its a pure waste of time. I rather we invoke on d fire of love called the holy spirit on ourselves as faithfuls of God and the spirit will consume our hearts with deep affection for our God.
Radical and charismatic xtians who will suffer not the wicked to live bliv the holy ghost fire is a ready weapon to be wielded against the forces of darkness and hence do not hold back in brandishing it during prayers.

Scriptures disagree with your views about the soul. The soul of a dead man is conscious after death. While I agree that the english translator have interchangeably translate the soul as man. There abound enough evidences in scriptures that the soul of man is very conscious after death.

let us start with Abel who was killed by his brother Cain

Genesis 4: 10

"And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground."

This account is similar to what the book of revelation records in Revelations 6: 9-11

Then Jesus who is God in nature described what happens to a man named Lazarus ( this is the first time Jesus actually put a real name to a story, hence more than just a parable) and a rich man ( he didn't name that man). Jesus also mentioned another well known name Abraham ( the patriarch of the Jews) in Luke 16: 19 -31

Jesus described where the souls of the dead go when they die. He said either they go to hell ( as the case of the rich man) or they go to paradise ( as the case of Lazarus). Jesus also said the paradise and hell are located at thesame place only separated by a gulf... which means those in hell and paradise have thesame state.... state of the dead ( soulish state, I would say)

Jesus himself when he died went to paradise. He also promised the thief who was at his side that they will meet in paradise as recorded in Luke 23:43

Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

Jesus indicated that all the dead righteous men are waiting in paradise till the day of resurrection. As he himself resurrected from there on the third day. We know that Jesus' resurrection took place three days after he made the promise to the thief.

Hell is not the final destination of the wicked rather it is temporary, just as the paradise is for the righteous. The bible records in revelation 20 that Satan, death, hell and all unrighteous will be cast into the lake of fire. SATAN is NOT in HELL. Hell wasn't made for him. His destruction will be the lake of fire.... which is the second death for all unrighteous.

And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death

Hell will give up all souls held in it, it will be empty and hell itself will be destroyed in the lake of fire.

The bible did not expressly say we will go to heaven.... however many Christians call paradise heaven (fair enough, as long as they understand what they are saying)... but if we follow the life of Jesus....he himself went down to Hades ( the place of the dead, which sometimes is interpreted generally as grave).

Solomon wasnt wrong in his assessment of the dead....Jesus only shed more light to it....and he showed more to John in the book of revelation
