Nairaland General › Re: MODERATORS: Can You Give Us A Section For Farming/agric Issues by Freiburger(mod): 8:54pm On Oct 09, 2012
flexya: I engage in several forms of farming for personal consumption includin banana, plantain, cassava, yam etc. I also breed chickens and turkeys, wit intention 2 experiment wit catfish farmin soon. From time 2 time, I av questions/issues which could benefit me/others. I know there are some others like myself. Would it be possible for NL 2 give us our own section for farmin/agric. This food section is not quite appropriate for discussion matters that could be relevant such as pesticides, buddin etc.

Thank u in advance
Great ideal, i'm in full support. If we can have a car talk section, i do not see any reason why we cant have a section where we can discuss farming/agric issues as well.

Foreign Affairs › Re: Obama Vs Romney : US Presidential Debate On October 4 2012 by Freiburger(m):
linearity: Obama is in a tough situation because of the economy and the GOP in congress purposely placed him there by blocking all his job bills. The very first day Obama was elected in 2008, the GOP in congress came out and stated that, they will work to make him a one time President. In the USA, the President cannot detect and order things int being, the system is not dictatorship, congress have the final say.
The whole thing started with the tea party movement and even with that, Obama Biden ticket is unstopable, anyone who doubt this can take a look at the map, the State of Ohio will never go republican this year, same as Colorado, Florida may be a dead heat at the moment, but it will finally go Democrate this year. The only difference i'm seeing here compared to the 2008 map result is the state of Virgina and North-Carolina that will likely go Republican, and still puts the Presisdent at 315 elctoral college votes from the 270 needed to win.

dammytosh: Romney Won.

Obama was clearly on the defensive line and looked very tired. I am sure he will change strategy during the next debate.
The candidates or the political party seeking for re-election are always on the defensive line, sometimes it pays when you do that and don't even look at the opponent't face, remembered the 2007 presedential election in France when Nicolas Sarkozy acted the same way against Ségolène Royal, it worked very well for him, i think in Obama's case, this is a huge strategie.

soloqy: Or Teleprompters like you earlier said.

I agree with you. The last four years have shown that its not all about speeches and beautifuly constructed words. He should deal with the real issues.
But Mr Romney isn't doing the opposite either, when accused by the President of proposing a $5trillion tax cut for the rich, he emphasised he wasn't going to raised taxes on the middle class nor do it through adding to the deficit, so where will the money be coming from?

Rossikk: What do they mean by who ''won'' the debate? It's not clear cut what exactly the criteria is for ''winning'' is. Is it the person that speaks the fastest, or is the rudest person on stage or the one that tells lies the best?

Both men made their points and showed their differences. One was more aggressive and loud than the other. If that means he ''won'', then the entire essence of the debate is defeated.
The criteria are: who sounds trustworthy? who is more confident about what he is saying, who knows more about how things functions in Washington? i rememebered when asked what the differences between these two canditates are , The president was the first to pick it up, he was completely out of point, and Romney was simply laughing. embarassed

After inheriting the worste econoimic downturn since the great depression, and being able to stabilize it after this short period of time, i think this guy deserves a second term. No doubt republican politicians will always promise they will be able to convince their fellow capitalist to start investing their cash again when they will come to power, but did this system really worked all this 8 years before Obama came in? look, the middle class holds every economy and not the rich, and this is what Bill Clinton stood for, and his time time still means good time to most Americans, so the democrates also knows how to handle the economy and this is what we will be hearing from the the president days to come.
lmao, you beat me to that... George Bush brought America to where it is today economically.

To the debate, I think this was just a strategy. There are two more debates which will even be closer to the elections. obama is no fool to let all those mitt romney gaffes slide. the 47%, bain outsourcing, etc. I think obama played to a script. Mitt Romney just dropped a whole lot of lies which will be used against him in subsequent debates.
First, i'll give you 10likes for this. What people dont understand is what has beeen the driving forces behind the president strong lead in the opinion polls even in the swing states, these are the Romney mistakes and his personality, he has never in anyway been connecting with the middle class families, all of a sudden i heard his talking repeatitively about the the MCF, very funny. Well, he who laugh last always laughs best.

“There’ll be no tax cut that adds to the deficit. I want to underline that – no tax cut that adds to the deficit,” Romney said. He added: “I will not under any circumstance raise taxes on middle-income families.
So where will the tax cut he is promising the wealthiest People come from?
