as far as i know with turkish 35weeks is from its first day to day 6 and it is on their website. perhaps you should refer to the site of the specific airline for more clarification ashedzi: Happy Sunday 2 u all. I read someone saying that by 34weeks n 1 day, airlines calculate that as 35wks. Meaning if someone is 35wks as @ d time of ur trip,is calculated as 36wks. How true pls?? |

as regards the bolded, please if you dont have cash in card dont say you do. my wife's host was giving us a gist about someone who was escorted to an atm to confirm and was denied entry when they dint see cash. BE WARNED!!! reniduke: 4. Then I got sent to secondary check where i was getting nervous for nothing. Officer said he just wanted to tell me I had done well by notifying the embassy in Naija and then he calls two of his colleagues to read the email the embassy sent them about me, then he starts to gist me about two other women who lied about pregnancies and how they were denied entry. I make all the right, "ehn ehn", "oh my" sounds and he says i should keep it up, honesty and all and ensure my hospital gives me a clear bill before i leave. He Asked how much i had but did not ask to see any proof even when i told him i don't have cash only card (must be my angelic face). 4. NO agric visit, the end!!!
Thanks Nairalanders in this forum!!! |

I have asked this same question once and no one seem to respond to it. chichi93: Good day house, please I will like to ask if it is wrong to use a government or public hospital in the US. Some one told me that your visa will not be renewed or you will be banned. Please is this true if you wld be paying all the normal self pay fees and no Medicaid or assistance? Also please has anybody in the house successfully renewed a visa or experienced issues renewing a visa after using a public hospital? |

that is the key element knowledge, only memory loss can take it away. shawlar: Congratulations @freshdad Your wife's "The one in my stomach" and posing 'with novel we she no dey read' really got me laughing hard....
Your point about criticizing people who don't declare is well taken. As evidenced by your wifes case, it also seems quite a few CBP officials are also confused about how to process people that declare their intention to birth. If a CBP officer does not know/has to seek clarification, then I guess we could overlook a visa applicant's ignorance.. but at the same time, knowledge is power. Researching and learning all you can about whatever endeavour u intend to embark upon leads to less mistakes in execution |

STAGE 1-PHASE 2 POE
so DW left lagos on the 29th march VIA turkish airline( turkish says fit to fly must be from a govt hospital so we had to do another one at port health)
flight left 10 mins later than scheduled. Stopover at Istanbul was like an hour so she basically jumped from plane to plane Arrived JFK at about 11am and joined the queue. Officer calls her forward
CBP: how are you DW: Fine
CBP: why are you here DW: for child delivery
CBP: what(looking suprised like he's never heard that) which child DW: The one in my stomach officer looks astonished again as it seems its his first day on the job. as DW is quiet smallish in nature
CBP: Please follow me
to secondary inspection as he passes her document to another officer and she was asked to wait Na so DW pose with novel we she no dey read dey wait. And after a short while she was called
CBP2: You are here from child birth? DW: Yes
CBP2: How much do you have on you DW: $xxxx
CBP2: where are you headed? DW: Chicago
CBP2: Is this the address of whom you are staying with DW: Yes
CBP2: Who's the person to you DW: Family friend
CBP2: How lonng are you here for DW: 11weeks
CBP2: can i see your return ticket-DW shows him
CBP2: Do you have a ticket to chicago DW: Yes, do you want to see it
CBP2: never mind. Pick you luggage and go print your ...
stamps her in for 6 months and she moved to the terminal for the chicago flight. another story there but nothing really.
She in chicago chilling and waiting for our EGO OYINBO to arrive
In other news, I think we should'nt always criticize those who do not divulge their pregnancy during interviews as alot of people still think they wont grant you a visa if you are pregnant. in the last 3months, I have spoken to like 6 people(2 in the us, 1 in uk and the other back home) who didnt know it is not illegal to do that. even yesterday when a friend in new york called me and was saying ' Ha i hope they would let her in blahblahblah". not until i told him the purpose we got the visa was for birthing so please like not crucify everyone as some people still dont know even though it is not my prerogative to have people seek for knowledge themselves.
lastly shout out to all those that always go out of there way to respond to people. special thanks to @chibertha @chicagomum for always responding to calls, chats and mails and my personal person who dey vex for me @shawbabe |

good day, I need people's opinion. My wife would be travelling next week for childbirth purposes as stated during interview. the thing is we are changing the location we intended using based on recent increment by the hospital(houston to chicago). we already booked ticket for the flight to chicago as she would be landing at JFK first.
My question is can she say she has changed her destination of choice and say she is chicago bound knowing we used houston for the application. Thanks |

Saw my aboki this afternoon, thats what they sell on the street as of today favouredmum: Good day House,
I just checked aboki fx and can see dollar is dropping seriously. Looks like a dream.
I can see buy at N380 and sell at N390.
I really wonder how this is happening but its really a welcomed development and I pray it continues to fall like this. |

good day, with reference to the bolded. Thanks seyewest: The most important thing to know about your visa is the visa category.. I believe the visa you applied for is B1/B2 which means you can visit U.S for tourism, visiting and sometimes conference. I see no big deal in shelving your plans but you must have a good reason for doing that.
if I'm right your plan is to land in JFK and fly to your actual destination which is not a bad idea but you must have your ticket confirmed to your onward destination in U.S before you leave Nigeria which simply means buy your ticket for your inward travel in U.S before leaving naija they will ask for it. You must get a letter of consent from your little cousin dad and mom before traveling with her and they must be available to receive phone call in case they called them not just in U.S but your connecting country... if possible hold a copy of the parent ID card, little cousin birth certificate and letter of consent from the parent. If you have a good reason for not going to Texas then say it... I'm sure that shouldn't be a reason for them to return you. |

thtas the rate on their website ustraveldocs.com ODBae: The consulate's exchange rate of 340naira to 1dollar should suffice. As that is the exchange rate used to calculate the Visa fee. Not the CBN rate. I should think so. Correct me if I am wrong. |

Please don't let the bolded tey, people are waiting for it... Oloye12345: Congrats dear.
NOTE that people here are not VOs, Airline reps, CBP or anything related. Everyone is just sharing based on their personal experiences and those of friends/relatives (true or untrue). Most importantly, it's good to try your luck regardless. Go after what you want - no matter how difficult they might seem to others, your case is different.
People have used BI/B2 visas for childbirths and were able to renew successful many times. In whatever case, notify the embassy of change of intention, be prepared for POE interviews, don't lie for any reason to the immigration officials and get your documents ready (including receipts).
I had an interesting encounter in Chicago few weeks ago at POE, I will share latter

CBN mandated the sale so they just must sell PTA to customers or be removed from the list of banks allowed to sell. titileps: I think it's the branches you went to that do not have dollars. I don't think it's about the bank. I know someone who got PTA today from sterling bank. I enquired of PTA from GTB here in PH and was told only 2 branches in PH handles it. I think it's wrong for you to be turned back saying no PTA. CBN gave guidelines and that all request be treated within 24hrs. I will advise you check another big branch to tender your request. |

Kindly enlighten me on the bolded. Thanks nefertitiram: The poster above...
Every mallam to his kettle. If being truthful doesn't work for you no problem.
The actual fact is this is an online public forum, and even though naija get their ways, it is saddening that posts like your is rubbing the mud further in our faces and confirming to anyone out there that Nigerians are deceptive by nature. Which isn't so! You are also encouraging others to cut corners which can land them in deeper trouble and you won't be there to bail them out when the shit hits the fan.
Accepted our ancestors were exported in crates, isn't it odd that till date, we are still exporting ourselves to US...
Have you also wondered why the US allows visitors have their babies (as long as you pay your bills) and I hope you know by giving birth in the US we are mortgaging the future of our children except they renounce their citizenship. I know most of us are aware of the future implication of what we are doing. |

chibertha: Yes I advice you do (it makes the process one step faster) but don't pay online if you like.go there with the money. I usually fill out forms and pay the official then go to the office with the extra which we know is file carrying" with this procedure you will do biometrics before noon. I promise you if you get there very early biometrics will be next morning this in Port Harcourt though . This from experience. |

Exactly my thoughts, these points can all be made without making it personal as often done by oga boss MsDenise: I'm not looking to engage you and it's not necessary to be overly patronizing. To be honest, I find your posts on 'discounts' very enlightening. However, by the tone of her post, she was merely seeking clarification and made a valid point regarding some docs who give discounts knowing full well that the patient is not American.
The last comment about her kids moving to USA and paying for discounted bills left over by other nationals (in not so many words) was a bit personal and unnecessary. |
