They would reply you with a second mail with what you require at MMIA or ABV when you touch down
MsPapi:
Hi ma'am. Congratsnonnthe birth of your baby. Please i want to ask, what was the immigration response like? I sent them a mail with the required documents and i only got a reply frkm them saying received. Is this sufficient or the respinse needs to be detailed?

Thank you.

i empathize with you. However, if you have read this Part alone well enough, you'd have noticed the avoidance of that POE.

I also made mention of it some pages back, in mid-july, my BIL was almost sent back from the same chicago because my sister changed her hospital.

I hope you can reapply and get a fair date. explain carefully what happened and you'd be fine.

TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by freshdad: 9:03am On Aug 11, 2017
I still cant understand why we would think we can called cash for free. By now you should know nothing in life is free except Gods' grace. And that was how my sister's host ask them to drop their sons' SSN and they'd get someone to give them $1000 a year on tax returns. I told her to run away and not look back. Told her to change the address where the SSN mail would be received. Please lets stay away from such thoughts, the name Nigeria is already stained out there and things like this would further tarnish the name.
MamaOO:
cheesy cheesy which money do they give citizens? Nothing is free in America. No free money is given. I'm guessing you're talking about the yearly tax returns and if so, no...it's not free money. It's the taxes taken from your paycheck and your purchase every year. Depending on your financial situation, some people get money back and some people actually pay money back to the government.

You're also not entitled to tax returns because you don't live or work in the US. If anybody says to give them your child's SSN for them to claim on their taxes and you get the money, that's tax fraud and if you're caught, both parties will be made to pay back the money gotten and may also face jail time.

You're not supposed to have recourse to public funds on a B visa.

Maybe they do, but she was not turned back. As long as you answer their questions right and honestly, you should be fine
urblackpearl:
thanks for the response. what I heard is that those CBP at Doha can be very strict and difficult and they turn people back a lot from Doha
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by freshdad: 2:25pm On Jul 20, 2017
My sister flew with them and her husband did last week friday, I dont know what issues your are expecting but none was witnessed. The usual thing is getting questioned (by a US official-someone like a CBP) at doha before you board your US bound flight.

as per layover, I do not know. You may need to contact their customer service on that
urblackpearl:
Please help house. any one flown Qatar recently? reviews? and how many hours layover do they provide accommodation. tnx!

while it is different strokes for different folks, I think O'hare is forever not nice. the ratio of friendliness to unfriendliness is about 95%-5%

My BIL and son were delayed for just 3 hours last night and escaped being returned home by a few seconds. A city filled with Nigerians where some do legal and some illegal (which is well known to them)stuffs, cant blame them for being thorough atimes

as soon as I get a full transcript I'd post.

MumTee:
Hello Dupsy,
how are u and the baby doing? Please my friend is coming to San Antonio and her Point of Entry is Chicago; how friendly is Chicago as POE for pregnant women.
My friend's sister and hubby just got turned back about 2 weeks ago. The entry officer claimed the hospital & Doc's fees is over-discounted and screamed FRAUD despite they had paid $10,000 in advance. This is already giving me the jitters for my friend coming in by September.

my sister-preggas as you called it traveled on qatar last month and I dint get any report of harshness other than regular questions of what and why you are going to the US
mymy2015:
Hello House, the cost of tickets to travel mid august is not smiling at all. The cheapest I am getting is Qatar, and I currently have one booking on hold but need to decide asap. Now my question is how is the travel experience with Qatar Airlines? How true is it that immigration in Doha is harsh esp to preggas? plan is to travel at 34 wks 6 days, is this ok? considering it doesn't fall into 36 weeks as described on their website? Considering the current controversies facing them, anyone that has recently used Qatar airlines can you please help me out.

From what I understand, birthing centre are very cheap and from my little understanding, no VO would grant you a visa for using one as they expect you to come spend good money in their country and a birth centre is the opposite of that.

Lets now assume you got the visa and you use the birthing center, should there be any complications you would be taken to the affiliate hospital where you would treated as an emergency patient and you'd have to pay from your nose as that wont come cheap.

And during dropbox-a process of renewing your visa when it expires, you may be lucky not to be asked for the receipt of payment at your child's' birthing. When you present a birthing center receipt, they'd just refuse you.

My explanation may not be clear enough as i hope veterans here would have cleared it out for you.

TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by freshdad: 11:12am On Jun 20, 2017
Oga Twoods of life.... I hail thee. see analysis. I think the major problem with "US" as Nigerians is we do not want to do any research. Just before DW travelled alot of people were making so much noise on whether she'd be granted access into the US cos she's pregnant and all.
I always just shut them up with " we got the visa for that purpose".

So please my people, data is cheap. Let's try and inquire before setting out on these paths. A simple google search of "is it legal to birth in the US" would have saved you from these regular lines here.
TWoods:
Ok first off, can we leave the clearly false "to God be the glory" out of this? God is not a respecter of fraudulent persons.

Your story is way too convenient:
1. You had your interview May 26, for a vacation in June... if this were true, you must have had travel plans already at advanced stages of planning, including where to stay, costs of flight tickets etc.
2. How is it that duty called so quickly and you've cancelled "vacation plans" within 2 weeks of obtaining the visa? So clearly there was never any intention of a vacation in June.
3. Your wife discovered she was pregnant a mere week after the visa interview and your "vacation" is now planned for January. By my calculation, your new "vacation" date is exactly around the time your wife would be about ready to have her baby. How convenient!

Sorry but your story sounds all too familiar, Nigerians who think they can basically pull the wool over the eyes of everyone, while claiming "God's glory".

Have no sleepless nights... the deed is done. Most likely the CBP officer will not deny you entry so go and have the baby as planned. More likely the biggest issue you will face is that your renewal visa will be denied, as it should.

Good luck.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by freshdad: 11:32am On Jun 09, 2017
There were not delays. atleast at JFK that I know of yesterday and a first timer. They only delays were that of the airline not getting to JFK as slated.
gold638:
hello. Please, just want to confirm from anyone who recently flew Qatar Airways to the US. did you have any form of delays or difficulties getting through immigration in US?
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by freshdad: 10:44pm On Jun 08, 2017
ok Qatar airliners...if you have bought a ticket already, you should be ready for long delays and all. a flight scheduled for 2:15pm yesterday didn't leave MMIA until almost 6pm so they missed the 2:15am scheduled flight out of doha to new york and was rescheduled for 8:30am and they just got to JFK around past 9pm nigerian time.

To those who are yet to get tickets, it would be better you get some other airline until the diplomatic disputes are resolved.

IMO.

haaa...please o!!! send me direct message o before the owner of the hospital come cut my head for publicizing their hospital grin grin grin.

Freshdad, pls which hosp did you use? I cant find your cost and expenses or the post was taken down? do you mind sharing?

And welcome back.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by freshdad: 4:15pm On Jun 08, 2017
it must really be hurting you, i never even got the chance to send you a mail, only the nairaland request which you refused, so am wondering how you'd get the tone of my message from an auto response. I wonder why you carry am for head like say na you own the hospital-chief medical director/chairperson board of trustees. You dint answer, life dint end, I got it from a source that is not even NL. I just needed you to know that whether you hoard or not what will be will be... @firsttymum welldone ma, make you no vex for them.
nefertitiram:
Like the one that came here and was saying I did not respond to his email. How will I respond when common courtesy is lacking in their messages. Be demanding as if na them pay my school fees. It is so annoying.

The ones that genuinely and humbly help, you know them from the tone of their messages.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by freshdad: 4:38pm On Jun 05, 2017
The bolded was exactly what i did to you and till tomorrow you dint respond. You dont need to take it too personal. Like I earlier stated, everyone has a choice on what to do with information. i did alot of research myself too before I got it, so ma'am we dont own it, we are just priviledged to have it...

EOD
nefertitiram:
Then they put in a little effort to research and reach out to veterans via pm, and they respond at their discretion. You have no idea what some people went through to negotiate whatever you think is a piece of cake. Just because you got it on a platter of gold?

If anybody is in dire need, they will go the extra mile and dig deep. If not they should go to US by themselves and fish out a package and come and distribute it so that monitoring spirits and ghosts can help you destroy it.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by freshdad: 2:26pm On Jun 05, 2017
I am not to tackle those who hoarded info, instead I was referring to the bolded in your comment as i read something that looked like it a few pages ago and because its only an assumption, I couldn't react to it directly but i hope the fellow would read. Everyone has a right to the choices they make so I wont blame you for the reason of not sharing. But to be fair, some people are actually genuinely in need of it, would I know who is genuine or not, NO but ma'am raising dollars these days no be BEANS!!!
nefertitiram:
So that when your ghost members bombard the place and they increase the price before you have the chance to use it, you will feel awesome right? Then agents will get hold of it and and use it to sell market before your due date, right? Be grateful you got the info, run along with it and stop complaining. If you don't know the genesis, ask.

Read back on the thread and see the effect it had on the popular hospitals back then. Abeg shift

Congrats Freshdad.

Please what's the duration of the VOA? Is it the regular 2 years or lesser? I'm asking cos of the stress of getting Nigerian visa every time for frequent travellers, this one that Naija passport booklet is scarce.

TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by freshdad: 5:28pm On May 22, 2017
depending on who is getting the approval for you, you have to write a formal letter in this format

The Comptroller General,
Nigeria Immigration Service,
Airport Road, Abuja.

Dear Sir,

APPLICATION FOR VISA ON ARRIVAL

I, ........, a Nigerian citizen, would like to apply for a visa on arrival for my daughter; .........- a national of the United States of America with passport number ...... scheduled to arrive the country from the .... 2017 accompanied by my wife ........ with passport number A..... aboard a concerned airline.

Attached to this letter are the following;
1. The data page of my passport
2. The data page of my wife’s passport
3. The data page of my daughters’ passport and,
4. My daughters’ birth certificate.

I look forward to your usual cooperative and swift response.

Yours faithfully,

There is a token to be paid for this approval unfortunately as the cost varies from who's sorting it out for one. The part I wrote from- I was told one has to put 2-3 days to the date you are supposed to arrived at your destination and do not use a precise airline as they may make an issue if you dint arrive on that flight.

That's the best I know.

justwise:
I really hope that she does that or somebody else that knows the process because this idea of using contact within the embassy to get VOA will not work here.

The passport booklet is not available but when you contact the insider within the embassy the booklet becomes available?

We need to stop feeding those corrupt Nigerian embassy workers

2 options;

let the hospital know so they can update it with the vital records office( thats what they did for mr at my hospital when there was an error)
or go to the vital records office yourself to rectify
Maymum:
Good day my people,

Please i need your urgent advice. There is an error with my baby's last name on the US birth certificate (how that happened i just cant explain) and I need to change it as soon as possible . Please anyone who has gone through this before or knows someone who has had same issue in the past ? Any suggestions will really go a long way. I really need to sort this out asap as i have just less than 3 weeks left.

Thanks so much in advance

i agree with you on this, knowing not all these CBP officer like the idea of people birthing in the US and the Nigerian fact which has become a thing we a recognised for, it is only normal for them to be wary. IMO
TWoods:
I'm Nigerian... i just flew to and from the Houston airport barely 2 days ago and there is nothing wrong with it. It is true that they send "most Nigerians and every pregnant woman" to secondary inspection,

Think about it for a second, Houston has the highest concentration of Nigerians in the United States. It is also the number destination for pregnant Nigerian women. CBP officers know that you are coming PRIMARILY to grant your kids US citizenship - some of them resent this, for good reason. Also they have to be mindful of the fact that many plan to resort to government benefits. It is common sense to expect a CBP officer in Houston to be far more suspicious of a pregnant Nigerian than one in Idaho.
