In fact, this issue has blown so big I just wonder why we are who we are. The report says they (Canadian immigration) receive close to 250 person(mostly Nigerians) a day at the Quebec border and fear it would rise to 400 in the summer. Nigerians are coming up with all sorts of stories to seek asylum in Canada and the land in New York and the next thing is they are at the border. This now perhaps explains the refusals lately. zoemummy: Found this on another platform and it may explain, in part, the reason for the recent spike in visa denials.
Sad story but just thought to share. |

oga the same time you spent to read this thread or at least register on this thread, you can create the same time and do it yourself. Getting an agent to apply can do more harm than good. just go to the necessary sites and start the process. its easier than you know. david22uu: do you know of any agency that can assist in the process |

i agree with you, however on the bold, some hospital agreement does not state whether it is for the specifics. Instances where you sing it to their hears that you do not live in the US and that you are only there for the birthing and they say it does not matter, does it mean some of the representatives of the hospital may not know what is tenable? TWoods: It is not their responsibility to find out where you are calling from and thus determine if you are eligible for the package or not. it is your responsibility to read the agreement that you signed. As I mentioned above, that agreement limits eligibility to county residents only. |

IMO, 12k may seem too low a figure for the entire trip on a general basis. Somewhere in the region of 15-20 is more like it. 12k doesn't cover emergency should it arise et al. i may be wrong but you can reapply Mamaiyanu: 1. 12k ... altho she didnt even ask for my budget sheet or cost of the trip 2. 8k dollar equivalent in the gtb account statement she checked, 9k dollar equivalent in the mutual funds statement she didn't check 3. Personal please. But what we have in both gtb and mutual funds account is equivalent to half of our annual incomes combined.
Do you think I should reapply and transfer the money in the mutual funds to the regular account? Can I transfer it gradually so it doesn't look like an obvious lump sum transfer? |

it doesnt matter, let him book his appointment for a date after you would have arrived in the US. I still cant wrap my head around why transferring lump sum.. If the cash belongs to your spouse , print his damn statement and take it with you, by far safer. and if someone is loaning you for this project then have it in weeks bfre application . Ramj: It's all at the discretion of the VO to ensure sincere but < 4weeks and that lump been the last transaction is a quick pick for me. if the money is in your husband's account then use his Statement of account and put in your DS -160 that your husband is sponsoring. He may also write a letter to back it and take his passport along if needed.

Not necessarily. its not like the UK who see it like desperation. The refusal letter always says if status has changed. you can explain the change in status properly and carefully at the next interview. Whether you go on tourist visa or not, as long as you state your marital status and your spouses' name gets into the column in that section, it automatically raises a red flag for them to ask for proof of payments. And if the hospital has notified them on the matter, and long thing. a friend of mine has been trying to get a visa and he even had an interesting chat with one of his VOs during his second interview who somehow inclined at the fact that his wife's application was dishonest as she didn't state she was married and had a baby in the US and my friend filled both son and DW names in application. She has tried to reapply twice as they are expecting a baby and she's been denied. However, peoples' cases are peculiar but i think as you've been advised, try and find a way of paying up before your interview and get updated receipts. IMO OmoBendel24: The observation here from my POV ab initio is that the third question you asked now is actually your most likely thought out plan that you need validation for, and you have officially asked. Well, that route is twists and turns laden because of that remaining unpaid birthing bills by your wife and you, and can easily back fire too, do deep consideration before proceeding.
Find a way round it, the bill can be paid without you going to the US and most importantly before your interview, unless your mind is made on doing otherwise already sha.... |

Just my thoughts When they say do not take discounts or any form of aid, some still go ahead to register for WIC. Collecting something that is not your right and expecting nothing to happen is just wrong. You gave your info when registering for the AID so when they run a search, it would easily come up. Please dont collect what does not belong to you!!! debby516: Thanks. Just thinking aloud, could it be that some hosps ve been blacklisted? Then the community hosp things, more of govt hosp abi Me, i just think in our shopping and scouting for cheap deals, we shld be careful of deals too gud to be true so that these VOs dont just start turning down any quote unreasonably low. Like someone posted earlier, soem hosp may be fraudulently passing on teh bills to govt or medicaid.
@Ugoguchy, if ur journey isnot that important, maybe you shld hold on and apply after a while, say like 6 months, and hopefully another VO will see things in a diff perspective. |

My point exactly, nothing remains hidden forever under the sun baddo: You perspective 1. You found the hospital yourself through researching right? No one gave you the info for free. 2. You want to share. It's your right to share as long as you don't default on the rules of the forum.
Me perspective a) I found the hospital by myself through researching, no one gave me this info for free b) I don't want to share. It is my right not to share as long as I don't default on the rules of the forum.
Honestly by sharing or not sharing this info will be sought and most likely will be found. I just rather we all do more discovering rather that be like the lost men in mad max fury where at the end of civilization they eat up available resources before they go in search of new resource. |

For me, you can either look at the glass half full or half empty. You are right regarding the tonnes of info here and on the web but I just feel that the information- whether hidden or opened would always get out. When I heard of the hospital and asked on the platform last November, I didn't get a response on the thread and i called the hospital immediately and spoke to a point person who gave me the fees. Still was not satisfied, I spoke to a friend who lives in the city to help confirm and she did and that was it. Also, on the VOA matter, I did fall mugu by paying for processing, the next day I found out I could do it myself and immediately I told those that I'd shared info with not to pay for it and contact the address themselves. I even shared a format of the letter on the thread. My point is we may not want to share it on here cos of these agents who feed on peoples' sweat but as long as the sun still comes out, nothing would be hidden under it. So as you rightly said, its everyones' prerogative to do what they like with the information they have. on a lighter note, madam nef, i still dey your back baddo: I totally agree
I would like to thank everyone on this tread for all the information shared. I have benefited in no small way. It is more than enough for anyone who cares to read. I was here live when the mighty VOA was unmasked, prior to that it was almost like a ship in a bottle task to decifer the procedure. Information is valuable and people pay for it. The number of agents here I am sure could easily match the DIY people. If only the DIY guys here were in the majority the current trend of doors closing in less than a year after it was discovered may not be so much of a concern well then again that depends on a constant discovery of these new doors. I can imagine how one would feel if he or she were to discover a place and share only to return back and he or she is told that they have increased cost of service due to high demand.
Number of new doors is directly proportional to the number of people using them.
If you can spend millions on this project, you sure can spend a day or more to read and take notes. For those who will no longer share details especially of new discoveries it is your right. For those who descide to do share it is also your given right as long as it is within the terms and rules of the thread.
There is a world of info here men. |

That your CBP officer sounds like one oga for here that I know....Oga boss...I hail drI: Dear All, Good day. I have been a silent guest on this forum for a very long while and it has helped me tremendously. I really want to give back a little from my experience so far. I am currently in the US to have my baby and I would like to share my POE situation at the Houston POE which I arrived last week. First and foremost I want to inform us all that the immigration officers are on this page and read it all the time. They specifically mentioned this page to me and asked me to inform the house that they are with us. Not to scare anyone as I presume they may even be amongst us giving some input and guidance to us. He laughed at the change I intent letter we talk about here. I had it handy based on what I read here but i didn't even need to show it to him especially since he had laughed about how silly he thinks it is. My saving grace was that I had applied for the visa for vacation when I wasn't pregnant and I mentioned when asked that I will use it for child birth in future if I get pregnant. He saw that in my record. pls note that i was specifically asked this question and sincerely i thank God i was otherwise i may not have volunteered the information myself. However the Immigration officer at the POE says some of us will say we were not asked and it doesn't really matter we should have declared from the onset. Secondly please always say the truth. No matter the cost. When you lie it apears like you are unscrupulous and can't be trusted. Thirdly, let's not be scared of saying we want to give birth in the US. Both the consular officer and the immigration guy told me it's very legal to give birth in the US of you can pick the bills. All that is required is that you demonstrate that you know the bills and can comfortably pick them. Finally please always always pick your bills and have your itemised receipts and zero balance handy. it's really unfair for us to use the Medicaid or other health insurance in the US. The citizens are taxed heavily for these services and getting it is like stealing literally. pls let's not do that . Sometimes we can be cohersed and tempted to do that even by some hospitals and doctors but don't fall into that trap. And as the nice guy I may at the POE adviced pls don't sign anything while in Labour. you may not be cordinated enough to read through properly. God bless. |
