Hello Justwise,

Please could you advise me on the list of supporting documents I need to send to my sister to visit me in the UK?

Looking forward to your response and many thanks!

Evidence of Address: Tenancy agreement, council tax bill, paid utility bills, copy of your passport data page with clear evidence of your immigration status in the UK, employment letter, pay slip and statement of account. A letter of invite clearly stating that you will accommodate and provide feeding for your sister duration her stay in the UK.

@FrontPageLawyer , sir he doesnt want them to know he had old business name because he didnt pay any tax . but he created a payers id since 2010 and when he got the new liability co there is a form he filled that he wont pay tax for some time . if he pays self self assesment tax can it help ? because he has old business receipt to show to them and they might think why he didnt pay tax for years . how can he explain that sir ? thanks.

What else do you want to hear? ECOs reach their decisions on so many factors . Read thoroughly where we advised someone with similar situation three weeks ago (old and new companies) he got the visa this week.

@frontpagelawyer, justwise please answer me . mabinu e jor .....the reason why my dad cannot use his old business name is because of tax. The amount to be paid is too much. So he concluded to pay for self assessment tax from 2010 till date and that is 5k per year. can my dad use the new limited liability with 2 years invoice, receipt .(not recent one) Is it accepted?

Failure to pay federal and state tax as a business owner is a criminal violation of the law. Moreover the only way ECO's can evaluate Nigerian companies especially sole proprietorship is through its tax clearance certificates.

Since your father has two companies; and both old and new are still in operation. Submit both old and new documents. The decision to issue or refuse the visa might not be adjudged on the Tax Clearance certificate is alone.

I contacted them but they said that the delay is because the are making more enquiries. I don't understand this even after paying for priority. Please has anyone experienced this before.

According to TLS contact

You should be aware that you may experience extended processing times if any of the following factors apply, if you have:

previously been refused a visa for the UK, and/or;
previously been refused leave to enter the UK, and/or;
previously been deported, removed, or otherwise required to leave the UK, and/or;
overstayed a period of leave in the UK, and/or;
been refused leave to remain in the UK by the Home Office, and/or;
been refused a visa for Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United States of America or the Schengen countries

So you might want to reconfirm

Kindly help! the date on my marriage certificate is different from what is on my passport.am planning to apply for tourism visa alone not with my family.Is there any way/document i can submit in lieu of the certificate ?is it a must for me to submit it?

Kindly help to clarify this.

Was it intentional?

I am afraid, marriage certificate is the only proof you have to support your application that you're legally married in accordance with law.

@justwise and frontpagelawyer . we are done with most requirement needed , ref my dad just registered his new biz to 1m shares (LTD) not upto one month . i am lil bit confuse , the embassy needs recent invoice and business references but the business ref we have is more than two years . can he still use it ?

What do you mean by business reference?

Since your father is the owner of both companies, he should use the Business Name and Limited Liability. Submit evidence of transactions, contract documents, receipts, invoices and any other document that is related to the business will be accepted, even from the inception of the business.

If an individual is issued a B1/B2 visa but never travelled with the visa due to tight business schedule. Does this person qualify for the dropbox program?

Thank you.

Dear all

I seem to be in a fix. I am travelling to the UK on Monday but I cant seem to find where to buy BTA (Pounds). Union Bank promised to sell to me but on getting to their head office today they claimed they do not have pounds anymore. I also approached Access Bank and GT Bank. Feedbacks were negative. Using POS/ATM for transactions abroad will be terribly expensive because of the charges. Buying from the black market is equally expensive, the mallams on broad street are selling at N347 to 1 POUND. Can someone advise?

347 is actually a good deal, but keep looking out.

@kaverd

We have repeatedly demonstrated what a healthy bank statement should look like. Positive cash inflows and outflows, also refer to as source of funds, income and expenses.

All the inflows must come from a verifiable source, therefore you are to submit evidence of business transactions, contract papers, award letters, receipts, invoices e.t.c.

There is no particular format explaining money lodgement in account, just have all inflows you feel could raise questions asterisk and briefly explain the source and attach the paper evidence.

Regards.

Nice thread! Well-done Lady Gwyn and others. First time here. @FPLawyer, don't be so sure o. I know of a family back in Nigeria that this happened to in 2010. The wife just upped and left with their child and decided to stay back and 'naturalise' without her husband's knowledge or consent. Long story short, they are now divorced.
@Tope, talk to your wife again. Life isn't always abbey of roses out there. Perhaps there are friends and relatives encouraging her to stay? They may be the first to show their true colours when the going gets tough. Try to make the trip before your visa expires and reason with her. Can she take your child way from you like that? Me I don't understand that part. Wish you well.

Welcome to Nairaland.

Was just baffled as a african man.

@topejonson72 apparently your visa has been compromised. I will advise you talk to your wife, then her family before reporting to the US consulate as opined by LadyG. Otherwise your own chances of entering the US is almost zero.

How will I be that desperate? When I have a company of my own where I make more than enough on monthly basis, money I can never make elsewhere? U must be a funny man. I'm telling u what is an issue to me, u re saying something else. Why not let your own wife too do the same, if u re married, and see how u will feel. If u can't advice why not keep calm and avoid my post ?

Never said you were desperate to leave, but why support the illegality. Or are you saying your wife is the head of the family and has the final say in the house?

This is a perfect example of your situation which happened to a close friend.

A family of four was granted B1/B2 visa but due to financial crisis they couldn't travel together.

The Father travelled to the US and started working; promised to raise funds for the wife and two kids to buy tickets so they could join him in the State.

After Seven Months of working so hard, the man eventually raised money, sent to the wife for the ticket. After three days, wife and two kids arrived the US safely after a very stressful trip and long queue at POE. CBP asked for the whereabout of the Husband. She was truthful and answer "he's been in the US for Seven Months"

CBP was very happy and didn't hesitate to cancel wife and two kids visa and were immediately deported back to Nigeria for misinterpretation of intent.

That exactly my fear now. I am afraid I might be sent back at the POE because its on record that she's my wife and that we both have a child. However, we applied for our visas at different times, she got her visa like a year after I got mine.
Pls what should I do ? Can't she be deported ? Aren't the USCIS doing their job to deport illegal immigrant ?
She insisted she will have her status adjusted, and how is that possible ? How can someone go to the US with a B2 visa and suddenly change to a legal immigrant . is this possible ? Can't the US immigration help me ?

I am very sure you supported this illegality and asking indirect questions on how she can adjust her status, otherwise how do you explain that your own legal wife absconded to the US and threaten never to return except you join her there?

1.5m will be too much if you only have 2m in your account.

Also are you employed or self-employed?

hi all Gurus in the house. I need suggestions and advise

I want to apply for a UK visit visa and need your advise and suggestions.

A BRIEF NOTE OF MY TRAVEL HISORY

I went to the UK for the first time in 2010 as a student, I lived there until 2013 and left just few weeks before my post study visa expired. whilst in the UK I got married to my husband who lives in Nigeria in 2011 in court, in 2012 I invited him to visit me during the summer but he was refused due to VO's error of not checking his bank statement properly. surprisingly we were given right to appeal as stated on the refusal letter, i believe this was an error by the VO, but we appealed. Unfortunately the court hearing was few days before my post study visa expired so I called to cancel court hearing and left the country weeks before visa elapse as i didn't want to overstay my visa.

I got a job with a multinational company as soon as I came back home, the pay is ok but not so good. I have been working with the company for two years plus and I now have a child who is one year plus.

i will be on leave during christmas and I plan spending the Christmas holiday with my baby in the uk, my husband isn't interested in travelling with us cos he will be very busy at the time. . I have a younger brother who's currently doing his PHD program in the UK, he's wants to send us an invitation and willing to accommodate us during the duration of our stay.

my questions are as follows:

1. is it right to get an invitation letter from my brother or i just go as a tourist?

2. is it right for my brother to accommodate I and my baby or do I just book a hotel for us?

3. will cancelling the appeal for my hubby in 2013 affect my visa application?

4. what documents do I need to attach for my baby since I will be travelling with her alone?

I earn 120k a month and currently have a balance of 1.8million naira in my salary account which I will be using for my visa application . I plan spending 10days In the uk, if I have to stay in the hotel the estimated cost of my entire trip with my child is 537,259naira, but if I stay with my brother the estimated cost is 425030.

estimate of travel expense for I and my infant
flight: 750 pound
hotel accommodation 420 pounds
living expense, shopping, food, tfare- 600pounds
total expense 1770pounds equivalent to 537,259 or 1376.11pounds equivalent to 425030 if we stay with my brother.

please will be very happy to read your suggestions and advise

If your brother is providing accommodation. He will need to send you his Mortgage Bill, utility bill, copy of his passport data page and visa, with clear evidence of his certificate of registration or proof of enrolment in his school. The letter of invite will clearly states that he will accommodate and provide feeding for you and your daughter duration your stay otherwise use the hotel reservation.

Voluntary withdrawal of your husband's appeal will not harm your application since you have not broken any immigration law.

For your daughter, you will need her birth certificate. Her application will be filled separately for a child visitor visa which is classified as a "special visitor"

Your finances and budget looks great. Your travelling history is a positive.

Regards.

Your bank statement does not fit into a standard requirement and will still not fit after spreading the money. A healthy bank statement must have positive cash inflows and outflows, also refer to as source of funds, income and expenses. It must show your monthly income/salary even as a business owner. All inflows must be from a verifiable source.

Don't waste your money because the ECO will happily refused your application.

@Justwise.

I have been following this thread for more than two years which is the most successful I have ever come across on Nairaland. With the recent imbroglio; public opinion has shown that majority of its members support for Costs, Doctors and Hospitals to be posted freely which doesn’t necessarily mean they are here to indirectly advertise for hospitals. This support has remained above 97% consistently in opinion polls since this outcry.

Conflict isn't necessarily a bad thing. If it's open and direct, it helps in dealing with issues and building consensus. As a leader, you should be able to mediate conflict and reach consensus among members of this forum.

Justwise, please focus on the real issues of this thread which is cost and procedures which falls under, Doctors, Hospitals and Costs. When the Mods and Admins disagree with members of this forum and the purpose of this thread is defeated, they burn bridges they may never be able to repair. Do not let other bloggers take advantage of this decision which could drastically reduce your members.

Conflict is a normal part of any healthy organization. After all, we all can’t be expected to agree on everything all the time. Learning how to deal with conflict rather than avoiding it is very crucial in leadership and management.

I'll suggest for the Admins to restrategize because we all understand that the purpose of this outcry is to protect the interest of your clients without breaching contracts and Nairaland's interest is also to maximize profit regardless of members opinion. It is a very complicated situation which should be intelligently managed.

But remember without Nairalanders, Nairaland will go into extinction and out of business while those Hospitals which interest you are protecting will remain in business.

A healthy bank statement must have positive cash inflows and outflows, also refer to as source of funds, income and expenses. You cannot leave money static over that period in your account. If your intention is building a bank statement for the purpose the the visa, ensure your monthly salary or income from a verifiable source reflects in the account spread over a period of six months. This is regardless whether you have a paid employment or self employed.
