Kobojunkie:
1. Jesus Christ gave His followers almost 100 commandments of which the commandment to love themselves the same way He loved them happens to be just one. The Gospel is the National Constitution/Law in the Kingdom of God, and it is comprised of almost 100 various commandments and statutes that God gave to those who are born-again aka citizens of the Kingdom of God. So, when He said, "a new commandment I give you.." in John 13 vs 34, Jesus Christ meant in addition to all the other commandments He had previously given to them. undecided

Also, if you pay close attention to what that particular commandment said, comparing it with the one from the Old Law, you will find that not only does this new command not apply as far as all (neighbors), also, it is love of a different kind from that which is detailed in the Law of Moses. undecided
This new command was given by Jesus Christ only to those whom He considered His Children — Judas and all others who are not of the Kingdom of God were excluded. Additionally, the love to be shown by the followers to each other is the same love that Jesus Christ showed to them, not the love that men show each other. undecided

2. Clearly, that parable was helping define who one's neighbor is, in connection to the Old Law of Moses which states, "Love your neighbor as you love yourself." undecided
Let me respond from your second answer.

You said the parable define who your neighbor is right?

Now, according to the parable. Who is your neighbor?

Stop feigning Ignorance. undecided

What Jesus Christ clearly said in response to a question asked of Him of the Old Law of Moses was that the second greatest commandment of the Old Law of Moses was the Law written in Leviticus 19 vs 18 which was given to the people of Israel by Moses. That answer, that the commandment was the second greatest commandment, was already known to the Pharisees and teachers of the Law who had asked Him that question to begin with. They wanted to know if indeed Jesus Christ had this knowledge that they already had. So how could it be considered a teaching of Jesus Christ? undecided
Since you are looking for the specific teachings of Christ, interprete the following passage for me:

John 13:34-35

On the night before he was crucified, Jesus washed his disciples' feet. This was a task that was usually done by servants, and it was a sign of humility and service. After washing their feet, Jesus said:

"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

This is the new commandment Jesus gave his disciples. And that is the way people can know they are his disciples. He said “A new commandant

Luke 10:25-37

In the parable of the Good Samaritan, Jesus tells a story about a man who was robbed and beaten by bandits. Two religious leaders passed by the man without helping him, but a Samaritan, a person from a group that was often looked down upon by the Jews, stopped to help him. Jesus concludes the parable by saying:

"Go and do likewise."

To me, these are the embodiments of Christ, and his earthly ministry (including his death) is centered around one thing “Love.”

It is one thing to claim with your tongue that you have read the book and another thing entirely to actually show you have in fact read the book. lipsrsealed

Again, Christ did not teach "Love your neighbor as you love yourself". That was instead Moses' teaching taken from the Law of Moses as revealed in the passage below.
The 2 laws that Jesus Christ quoted in response to the question asked Him of the Law of Moses are found in Deuteronomy 6....
... and Leviticus 19.

2. Moses gave the people a Law that comprised of at least 613 commandments. These Laws(the 10 commandments written on the stone tablet included) make up what is God's National Constitution for the Nation of Israel in the land of Canaan aka the Law of Moses. undecided
See, all these Bible passage you are quoting are just statistics to me. I don’t keep track of numbers, if I read, I don’t read to cram, I read to understand.

I may not be able to tell you words for words what the Bible said, but if I developed an idea from reading the Bible, it is because the Bible can be understood as that.

I read to understand, I don’t cram.

Now, check the passage below in Matthew 22 from verse 37.

Was Jesus not saying the second greatest commandment is the second? Did he not say all the rest of the commandment rely on these.

This is the teaching of Christ. Love your neighbor as yourself. All other commandments rely on these.

On a side note, I love your doggedness. But unfortunately, I am no longer my calm and understanding self, I would have engage you better.

"Love thy neighbor...." is Moses, not Jesus Christ - Leviticus 19 vs 18-20. Jesus Christ said that in response asked by the Pharisees to test His Knowledge of the Law of Moses. undecided

So many people who pretend to know Jesus Christ get their ideas from pulpit traders and not from actually reading Scripture. undecided
I DON’T KNOW ANYBODY CALLED JESUS

Na your Bible tell me. And “Pulpit traders” too.

But tell me, was that not his teaching?

I don’t care who first teach it. All I care about is the message. And provided Christ also teaches it, then my point is valid.

Moses have 10 commandments. Jesus have only one (the 11th commandment) “Love Your Neighbor As Yourself.”

I am not a Bible scholar, but I read the Bible twice when I still love to dey read. See, na money dey my head now, no dey quote me with some yeye Bible verse. E no concern me.

1. I did not ask you of several beliefs. I simply asked you about the particular belief you are aware of and are versed in - Your cultural and spiritual ideals. undecided

2. The very reason why I asked of yours was so I can ascertain the root/foundation for the particular beliefs you hold. undecided

3. I read most of your response that I could stomach and it was all nothing but gibberish cobbled from ideas pulled from various beliefs most of them baseless since the foundational texts for such beliefs prove them as such. undecided

4. Bullsheet! Why would you wonder about such things when the answers are presented in the text that you pretend to quote from? No be brain damage be that kain wondering? undecided
Well, the basis of my belief is the existence of humans. And the love I have for others. Because when my neighbor hurt me, I try to understand why, and understanding them gives me more knowledge about them. And it gives me more knowledge of their believe. That’s why I can confidently dabble into so many beliefs. Including yours.

The reference I made in my response to you are the “gibberish” from your scripture. My response have mostly been the scripture you believed in. If you are a Muslim, my reference will be the holy Quran. And if you are an ifa adherent, my response will be the verses of ifa. But my reference have consistently been “Your Bible.”

You already know the basis of my belief because the basis of my belief is “You.” Your existence as a soul.

But for the sake of the truth, I will elaborate more on why you must wonder about the suffering of others. I will also give you an illustration.

This is me, a soul having a twin brother. We are birthed by my mum who happened to be exiled from
her community and had to birth us into a wilderness. Here, going by the knowledge she had with her people, she can make fire, and hunt to sustain herself till she gave birth.

Her people her hunters, they don’t know how to cultivate plants for foods. And she succeeded with hunting because she got the knowledge from her kinsmen. And her kinsmen got the knowledge because of several years of trial and error. But they worked together to make life easy for themselves.

Now, I and my twin have become of age, and since our mum thought us how to hunt and make fire, it is easy for us to simply pick up from her knowledge and continue living. But then, she died.

Shortly after she died, I and my brother begin to live in unison because we do t have different beliefs. We simply follow the footsteps of our mum. But then, my brother soon discovered that he can eat plants. And he can cultivate crops and store them for the future so that he don’t need to stress himself whenever he needs food. However, all these are so strange to me and since I am not willing to give up on my past lifestyle, I stated avoiding him.

He was pained that he can no longer have my support, but then, he moved on. Developed his crafts and life the rest of his life happy. However, he was lonely until he died because he no longer have me to rely on.

I continue with my hard life, and also adapt to living alone and I died.

We both died miserable.

But if there is someone that have come to me, noticed my misery and tell me, accept your brother as yourself, and I will give you a better life. I will really love the idea of a better life because I so much long for it. But my long grudge against my brother will make it difficult to truly accept him as a part of me.

But if only I have learned to work with my brother and encourage him to make more findings (even thigh I don’t have the knowledge to do the findings myself). He would have build a more conducive environment for the both of us, and we would have console each other and will never be lonely. However, he has deviated from what my parent teach me, and I have considered him an outsider.

However, I still really need the love, and I will always hope for that love. Hence, I will long for the presence of the person that bring the hope to me. And I will tell my children to hope on the promise of the preacher.

But what the preacher told me to do “love your brother” I consider it impossible because it is not really what I want.

Enough of that. Let me give you a present day illustration.

We are in a country of diverse religion, a country of diverse tribe. But me and you will agree that what is killing us is our religious differences and tribalism. We’ve got a lot of leaders, but they ended up amassing wealth for themselves because they feel they and their families are different from us, and should have more privilege than us.

If they truly love us, they will think of us first. But because like you, they also have their own belief that is different from yours, they will continue to favour themselves and neglect you. And if you reach there, you will do the same. You are the chosen of Christ, a people called for his greatness. That’s why you are chosen to lead, and others must bow to you.

And that’s how the pain will continue. But if only we learn to understand that we are all the same. And the pain we inflict on others today, we will go through it in the future. Then, we would have worked together to build a paradise. We really wouldn’t hope for a paradise after death.

Once again, as Christy taught you, I am repeating - Love your neighbor as your self. This is the only true commandments.

Again, the kingdom heaven is right here within you. (It is there in the scripture)

What that passage means is that the kingdom of God is you. Christ has given you a teaching, which if only you adhere to, you will never wish to leave this present earth. Because Christ teaches you of another realm where all that exist is love. And if you have adhered to this teaching, you will surely find yourself in that realm.

The kingdom of god is here among you because if you truly find love, you will live in the kingdom of your father. If you truly love your neighbor, and they love you back, you will already be living in the kingdom that Christ promised, and once you die, you will find yourself in the presence of love.

I don’t care if you understand me or not. But above all, I want you to know that if you build on loving your neighbor as yourself, you will truly experience a new type of existence. And the kingdom that Christ teaches is within your reach.

Again, it is OK to admit you have no real answers to offer. The several attempts you have so far made at lopping together all beliefs and ideas out there clearly show you don't know what you are talking about. So I am not certain what your goal is at this point. undecided
Originally. I stated why there are so many beliefs and ideas. And at the end, I said “stick to the beliefs of your fathers, else you can’t be free from their wrath.” Which explains why the guy got repercussions after destroying his family gods. Even the god told them he don’t have any problem with their new found faith. But you said all I spoke is “fables.”

And don’t ask me how I came to that conclusion. I was avoiding the probe, that’s why I wrote the “fables.” But that’s the answer you seek. Since you don’t need explanations.

If you have read my response with patience, you should have received your answer.

It’s not a problem holding on to your beliefs. Humans are powerless without a strong sense of belonging.

But when next you wonder why there are so much pain and suffering. When next you wonder why you need to hope on an heaven. Remember you chose individuality over general love and acceptance, and no one will feel rejected without fighting back. And remember Christ never consider an outsider as different, that’s why he can promise you an heaven. Which you can only hoped for because you believe you are different from others.

▢ Did you know that the God of Israel disavowed religion and all religious leaders among His people? undecided
▢ Did you know that Jesus Christ, almost 2000 years ago, stated that He was sent ONLY to the Lost sheep of Israel meaning that if you are not of the blood of Jacob you cannot enter into HIS kingdom of God? undecided
▢ Did you know that it is intellectually dishonest to claim that the God of Israel(and His Son Jesus Christ) and the Allah of the Muslims are the same? undecided
▢ Did you know that there are over 40,000 deities out there worshipped by men and it would take a special kind of blindness to conclude that they are all the same?

Look... what you are attempting here has been tried by many equally ignorant of what is written of the many deities out there. Trying to paint everyone with the same brush would not work at all so what makes you think painting all spirits with the same brush would? I asked questions about particular beliefs... I didn't ask you to come sum all beliefs as the same. undecided

If you don't have answers, it is OK to admit you don't. undecided
Read again. I never said they are all the same. And if you have digested my previous “fable” properly, you will understand why we have so many of them.

And because a god separated you from others does not mean you are different from others. You are not the “lost sheep of Israel” you have your tribe. And your tribe have a god.

Even Israelites are mostly Jews according to the belief of their ancestors. They rarely practice the teachings of Christ. But I admire the teachings of Christ because it does not discriminate. He says “As many as believed in my name”. And “Whosoever is not against us is for us.” Unlike the gods of the old testaments, he didn’t encourage war on anyone not an Israelite. He loves them all.

If you can’t generalize, then why do you think you have a place in the kingdom of your god. Are you an Israelite? Since you said Christ was sent to only the lost sheep of Israelites and you can’t love your neighbor because that is generalization.

Are you an Israelite? Why should Christ invite you into his kingdom since he can only love “The lost sheep of Israel”.

And again, I stated it up there that Christ was never religious. Read and understand my words before attacking me.

You are not the first to try to spin that same tale, unfortunately. Even folks have their version which they spin. It is all a cluster of suppositions and baseless assumptions with no heads or tails to it. And I am not in the mood for more of it at this point. undecided
Then you are not in a position to seek knowledge. Have you ever consider the basis of major religious texts? Ever wonder why we have so many religion and why some dominate another? Ever wonder why those who are born into a religion believe strongly in their religion and follow the precept of their god believing they have a reward in heaven?

Ever wonder that as you consider them unfit for the kingdom of your god, they also consider you unfit for the kingdom of their god , and you are both right?

Or do you think you are better than others because of your believe? Don’t you also consider that the same creator that creates you created those that don’t have the same privilege as you?

Ever consider why you and those you separated yourself from will eventually leave your flesh with no respect to your believe or your status?

The teachings of Christ are beautiful, likewise is the teachings of Mohammed, and ifa etc… but have you ever wonder why there are so much division?

Because we must realize that we can’t make progress in division, we must learn to accept each other’s differences so that we can move forward.

And like Christ says, love your neighbor as yourself. Even as I have loved you. If you don’t learn to see your neighbor as yourself, we still have a long way to go.

Note that I am not religious. And I am not an atheist. But I seek knowledge and I have as much as I am willing to understand. If you take your time to understand the weakness of your neighbor, and you learn to work with them, then you are helping this world move forward.

This is the summary of Christ teachings. This is why he died on the cross (I won’t call it a fable even though I saw no evidence). But I understand the message, and I believe as he as taught “by faith”

Once again. This is not a religion thing. Christ never teaches or encourages religion. So likewise every true messenger of the truth.

If I take my time to write an epistle to reply your question because I thought you seek knowledge. Then I must have had a reason for my fables. But you don’t even care - it’s another fables to you. Yet you have so many questions unanswered.

That’s not how to seek the truth. Unless you are just bored, not ready to dive deeper into other people’s experiences.

If you care about others, first try to understand them. That’s what we call love. You don’t just cut off your arm because it is injured, you find a solution no matter how inconvenient.

Love your neighbor like you love your injured arm.

Meanwhile, kindly share a guy name you have for seaped garri in your part of the world. As for me, in my boarding school, we called it "Otto" and we practiced "soak and travel" to add value to it.
Funny enough, I remember drinking garri in my sleep yesternight. I was thinking about it throughout yesterday but I’m scared for my health.

I so much enjoy it as a kid, but unfortunately, my stomach grows younger the more I age. Eating garri can be detrimental to my overall wellbeing.

Anyone regardless of gender can learn those virtues listed, stop putting pressure on men,it never helped them then it's sure not helping now
I understand you, but most men are masculine and loves to take charge. However, without a clear structure to encourage them, they may get confused if they are influenced by manipulative women or men with a different belief.

When I said men should be train to be men and women should be train to be women. It doesn’t necessarily mean I have a predetermined notion of how a man should be and how a woman shouldn’t. From experience, I know being rigid is foolishness. The beauty of humanity is in its diversity.

However, with the way things are, majority of people are scared or being themselves for the fear of rejection. But if there is an existing institution that breeds their self confidence and taught them to accept each other and understand each other’s diversity, we will have more humans being truly human. Instead of the current structure that everyone is looking for an organization to accept them, even though they may have a different opinion.

My suggestion is just a simplification of a complex problem. I know it is more complicated than that, and the diversity and uniqueness of humans must be considered when making any social restructuring.

wow.... great observation sir.

CONSIDER THIS

LADIES have been trained their whole life for MARRIAGE.... MEN ONLY START THINKING OF IT WHEN THEY CROSS PUBERTY OR MAKE SOME MONEY.
It is a far too wide margin.

HENCE MANY ARE NOT REAL MEN BUT POST PUBERTY BOYS.

Solution:

We need MEN CONCLAVES, BOOTCAMPS, TRAININGS to groom BOYS to MEN else the disaster will continue.

MATURE MEN ARE SCARCE due to poverty, but immature boys are the ones who are RICH and seeming ready to marry and marrying wives that only TRUE MATURE MEN CAN HANDLE.

So the cycle of DEFEATED MANHOOD continues.
We need to restructure our educational systems. Women will be trained to be women. Men will be trained to be men. I suggest all men goes through some compulsory physical and mental training. Also, virtue like patience, responsibility, etc should be taught.

We are far too diverse in upbringing, and except there is a unifying system, our society will continue to degenerate.

https://www.nairaland.com/7922406/wife-why-life-women-complicated#127165126

A couple of days back, my wife put to bed using CS. Initially we had a baby before, I a know how complicated and painful the pregnancy and childbirth was.

Now I was in the theatre during the CS and I saw first hand how someone's abdomen was sliced open and the baby pulled out. I also saw how doctors were putting their hands into someone's abdomen and how they finally stitched her up. It wasn't an easy sight to behold. Right now, she's recovering, but the pain she's passing through is much.

To me, this is the highest form of sacrifice that someone can give for the family.

So to the men and husband out there..... before you ask your wife to be "what she is bringing to table", kindly think about the sacrifice they make in bringing your children to the world.
Not to contradict you. But the children still belong to the women. It’s a sacrifice they made for their future. They will still be the one to use the children to their advantage as much as they wish.

My only gain is the continuity of my family name. And that’s if I am lucky the kids are mine.

It’s the pain they bear for them selves.

BRATISLAVA:
This confirms the fact that you think you can play God and people will bow to your will.

You will be executed first without a blink. Not everyone will be your sheep to listen to you or what you think. You won't have your way in this world, because you don't own it.

Now, consider that when assuming the communication with strangers route.
You don’t even know who you are talking to.
