I got ppr on the 27th of January 2022
Sent my passport to Abuja VFS office via dhl.
I got an email with the tracking number from vfs on the 1st February 2022.
It’s been like 2 weeks and no email from vfs.
Should I be worried as anytime I keep tracking my passport, I get the message still in transit.
Any idea on the timeframe for passport submitted at Abuja office
Also any idea on how I can contact the Abuja VFs office

Have you gotten any feedback now? From the little I know, it could take up to 3-4wks and in some cases 6wks before you have your passport back with visa. Please keep us in the know so that we can have your time frame from submission to having your passport back.
You can contact VFS via their phone no and chat option on their website. I dont think they will get in touch with you again until they have your passport back from AVO. Rumour has it that Abuja is even faster than Lagos VFS office.
I sent mine to them on Vals day and I have my fingers crossed.
The wait is almost over bro, take your mind off it and keep yourself engaged with preparation for landing.

My case is peculiar. If not that I have a good job and I am not that desperate to leave, I can imagine the frustration it could have brought.

Got married Jan. 2020, we were both widows with kids from our late spouses. After pressure from my wife, I decided to submit application for me and my 2 kids in July 2020.

Application: July 2020
AOR: January 28th 2021
Medicals: April 2021
Medical passed May 3rd 2021
Correspondence 1, interview request.
October 21, interview done at IOM in Ikeja and updated as completed.
Pre arrival: October 28

Till now, nothing. My application page on IRCC remains same. I checked for status on another platform.and I saw decision made probably since October.
We had a new baby since September 1st 2021 and I have not seen her. I don't know what else to do.

Planning to put in for visiting by February if nothing comes up before then.

My V.O is Accra, seems they have lots of backlog there.

Application status on my IRCC online account reads we are processing your application and we will send you a message once final decision has been made.

Background check, we are processing
Review of eligibility- we are reviewing whether you meet the eligibility requirements, this has not changed since like forever.

I don't like the idea of GCMS note that takes almost 3months, it proves nothing to me and I don't like to contact any M.P.

Any other useful suggestions?

They have replied and rejected my application as usual. They still said I didn’t provide enough evidence that shows that my marriage is genuine and continuous. I don’t think I will have the mind to reapply again.

This is serious ooo. So sorry to hear this. Did you do interview before you were rejected? I am guessing you did everything online.
You can raise a webform to remind them of your pending appeal request. COVID 19 really caused a lot of delay and backlogs.

Has anyone ever attended interview during their Canada spousal sponsorship application? How is the experience like? please share if you have ever being interviewed and how long after that before you got a feedback.

Ask we that are fathers here. You can also meet your relatives that are fathers and mothers for proper guidance. Pregnancy is calculated from the last date of her menstrual cycle and not the date you have sex with your partner. If your babe had her last menstrual cycle on June 10th for example and you have sex with her on June 30th and she became pregnant, lab result today will show she is 2 months gone while you as a 'first time' dad will be thinking its just over a month.

If you are in doubt, wait and do DNA test after the baby is born, its not that expensive again, you can be rest assured the baby is most likely yours.

It is ridiculously low but that is how most civil servant job is in Nigeria, that is why reforming that sector will take a miracle. Nevertheless, we must also know that most govt agencies and parastatals only quote the basic salary on their employment letters. A friend of mine almost lost DPR job when he wanted to leave the bank years ago, I cant remember how much was on his offer letter but it was around N1,000,000 (already on around N4M in bank) or so then until his godfather explained to him properly. Have you guys seen annual basic salary of a Nigerian Professor? you will be deceived thinking you earn more than them.
Even where I work now, my offer letter read N693,000 annual basic when i took up the job and I was leaving bank with annual earnings of close to N5M, thank God for proper advise then, I would have been regretting now.
Everything in Nigeria is shrouded with secrecy, someone argued with me that the highest bank CEO in Nigeria only earns N160M P.A and hence M.D CEOs cannot afford a mansion at Minister's hill in Abuja, I still dey laugh in French each time i remember. It's not the person's fault though cos that's what is openly available as their remuneration but if you see what enter their account monthly on the average, e pass that N160M sef. Given what I know about top banks in Nigeria, their is no bank E.D that is not a billionaire much more the M.D/CEO.

I always read comments with smiles on nairaland because there are usually different sides to a story, the fact, the truth, the exaggerations etc.
Someone mentioned that WAEC no longer attend to correction of date of births, yes, you are correct sir, their is a policy to that effect since 2019 or so.
Another commentator heaped all the blame on WAEC. Well, I wont say WAEC is perfect but if you check clearly my brother, the error is most time, let me refrain from saying all the time, from the school. The entries are done online by the school during exam registration on behalf of the students, even Private Candidate exams are now being done online from cyber cafes and it is whatever its being uploaded from the school or the Candidates that will reflect on the WAEC registration server.

For the OP, depending on where you are, where you wrote the exam, if it is school or private candidates etc, your best bet is to visit the nearest WAEC office for clarifications, please dont stop at the gate and listen to touts, they will assure you it will be done and collect money from you without doing anything, ensure you enter the office and talk to the customer service officers who will handle it or direct you to the appropriate officers, I can assure you, they wont ask you for bribe, that I am very sure of (you will get same explanation though that the Council no longer attend to correction of date of births and e get why).

Your surest bet though is to swear affidavit and be using your certificate jejelly, had it been like 2years ago, they may correct it and print another one for you after carrying out their due dilligence.

Thanks bro, my dillema was going with our personal statements of accounts that does not have up to 500k each and mutual funds that have plenty money. It can be explained though and the movement from the accounts to Mutual funds can be seen but at times, if you meet an impatient V.O or 1 that is looking for an excuse, it may become a valid one for them to refuse.

My monthly salary is less than 200k, my wife own is around 300k even though I earn more than her per annum, I receive bulk payments and plenty allowances from time to time. The missionary trip will be co-founded by the two of us and most of the money is on Mutual Funds investment. Or should I liquidate the investment and have the money seating pretty in our accounts? Cos with constant transfer to save money in mutual funds, there is hardly anything on our personal accounts.

Me: brot out mine and photocopies of my wife's data page and UK visa page (immigration withheld my wife's old passport because it still had over 6months validity as at the time we renewed it).
V.O: collected them, flipped through mine, look at wiffy's coloured photocopy and continued typing.
V.O: your visa has been approved...... Blah blah

I Was a little nervous and imixed up Lincoln Park (a Zoo) for millennium Park where Harris Theatre is located. GOD favoured me anyway and he overlooked it and still granted our visas. NO documents checked, no questions on kids and salary and the rest.

Abeg, info on cheap flight tickets to Chicago ooo, travelling by May.

What bring fear is that in the appointment confirmation sent to him, it is written as instruction that applicant canbe turned away from interview if he failed to upload his photo at the time of submitting his form. When is the interview? if its still about a week away, he should fill another DS 160 form, upload the 6 by 6 passport and submit. He should log on to the interview appointment page and click on update appointment, i think he should be able to edit it from there.

Same thing happened to me and I did same but my application was for 2, I was only able to update mine while i had to send them mail at support@ustraveldocs.com or support-nigeria@ustraveldocs.com to help me update my wife"s new DS 160 confirmation page which they have done.

Hello Funjay. It's not a "passport" you are uploading, it is a passport-quality photograph. The passport itself is the little booklet that gets stamps and visas in it. Precision is important, especially when following instructions. Contact customer support.

Your old passport should ordinarily be released to you upon getting a new one. However, if your passport is yet to fully expire, i.e if you still have some months, usually up to 6months before the expiration of the passport, they may not release it to you to avoid you having two valid passports at the same time. What i am yet to confirm however is if you can go back to collect your withheld passport upon its full expiration.

Did the family you are talking about have a valid visa in the passport? If yes then maybe that is why it was returned to them. My mom's expired passport was retrieved and wasn't seized. So I understand what this person is talking about. I took her there myself and it wasn't only my mom's they retrieved. I am 100% sure..
How can passport office seize a passport and then give you a new one is it logical Please if your old passport without visa was returned to you recently after renewal signify so I can storm the passport office for my mom's passport. I nor understand this kind Nigeria again

You guys are doing a terrific job with all your contributions.

I will be applying with my wife next month. I have 2 kids, 3+ and 1yr + but i what i really want is a kind of honeymoon part 2 for my wife. Plus the cost of taking the 2 of my kids along and withdrawing them from school (due to the nature of my job, i can only get have time for vacation by May by which time school will be in session) is not a welcomed idea to me.

My question sirs/mas is if we stand a good chance by leaving the kids behind or it could be a reason for denial. With US, you can never tell which is which, if its UK now, that one am familiar with.

Please help out with your wealth of experience.

Same thing happened to me in Abuja in 2011. Just like that I was arrested at an eatery around 10pm along with many other innocent citizens. Nigerian police are so wicked and inhumane. I spent 2 days along with almost a thousand others before someone from the presidency came to bail me. Meanwhile, they took the remaining others to court. I'll never forget that evil

Pally, you should have used your long leg to ensure the other guys were released and the team of police involved dealt with.

Wish this Seun Aluko guy could go and report to Human right lawyers, they need to visit that Cell and sue those people.

I noticed of recent that whenever I am in traffic, my car acellararion loses power and I'll have to switch off and in the ignition before I can continue my journey. IG has happened abt 3 times now in the space of 1wk. 3 mechanics have told me different things. 1 used its d throttle Sensor, another used its the fuel pump and another, the injector. I don't know where to go to again, please auto gurus, help me out.

I use to have dis chick in my organization that drives me crazy but the problem is that she works in one of the Northern branches (far North, 3/4hrs drive after Jos) while i work in the South. We chat everyday, talk on phone everyday but only see each other during our leave periods or any long public hols that falls on a weekend (kai, i spent money on flight for both of us oooo).

In summary, I once told a big lie at work that i lost my half-brother (whom i actually lost some weeks prior to that) and i had to travel home for the burial while in actual fact i had booked an Aero flight just to fly away and be with my babe..........

As usual, we parted later and are both married now but men, that babe sabi.............

Every Examination body has her own standard but the truth is that we all know the genesis of NECO just like ANAN.
Comparing WAEC and NECO in my opinion is like comparing ICAN and ANAN.
People's perception these days is that it is WAEC that is failing the students and like someone said 'insensitive' to students plight.
Based on the insensitivity theory, WAEC should be giving out grades that students dont even merit ba? I weep for the future of this country if we all continue to think along this line.

I used to think that C6 is 50% in those days but if you have people working in examination bodies, you will be surprised that most of the grades we parade does not even equal to the mark ranges we initially thought. C6 I have been made to discover can even be 40marks (as against 50-54 marks i initially thought) depending on the performance of the students.

Have we ever wondered why Ghana continue to do better than us every year in the same WAEC examination? My logical reasoning will be that they just simply had to prepare well since their is no alternative that will give them the grades they desire (without earning it).

I remember a particular year, someone close to me wrote WAEC and had F9 in English (I know fully well based on her abilities having lectured her that she deserves nothing less than F9) and the same candidate had A1 in English in NECO same year, THAT CAN ONLY BE A MIRACLE RIGHT?.

It is instructive to know that WAEC as an examination body does not set questions, does not set the marking schemes/standards, does not mark but only coordinate the processes leading to setting of examination questions as well as the marking schemes and marking of scripts. These exercises are done by experienced secondary school teachers, Doctors and Professors in Universities who continue to participate in the exercise not because of money but as a form of continued relevance in their chosen fields and also to contribute their quotas to the Nigerian Education (you can confirm anytime marking exercise is on, the money they are been paid can be ridiculous). My wife participated in the last concluded WAEC marking and the performance by students can be horrible as well as comical.

The good thing is that serious students who are well prepared still pass WAEC examinations in flying colors. As parents, I will advice that we groom our children well, send them to good schools, be their NO 1 teacher and make them prepare well for any examination. The era of allowing students to be dancing skelewu all over the street and pay for 'micro tintin' during exams should stop. Our brothers from Anambra, Imo and co that are doing well were not marked with different marking schemes, they prepared and they earned their grades.

That was the best game of the tournament, really wished Germany will go on and win it now but my heart is with the Argentines if they made it to final, of cos, its because of that little genius called Messi. Winning the World cup will make him an eternal legend and will elevate him to d level of the likes of Pele and Maradona and this may be his one and only chance in my opinion.

I remember 2002 final, a struggling German team made it to the final but had their best player then (Balack) suspended and a complete Brazilian team went on to lift the trophy. History was re-written yesterday, the Brazilian commander-in-defense was suspended and the whole team fell like pack of cards and the better team won. Even with Thiago and Neymar yesterday, I don't see them stopping the Germans, the score line could have been more respectable though, something like 4-2 i guess.

The pundits predicted Arg or Brazil will win it cos of the weather and history of all previous tournaments hosted in the South American region been won by the South Americans with the exception of one. Some went further to add that no team has won the confederation cup and go on to win the world cup, so Argentina should go on and win it.

From what I have seen so far of the remaining 3 teams (Arg vs Ned yet to be played), Argentina has the weakest team (not in terms of individual talents) while Ned and Germans have complete and balanced teams so, it will take a miracle for the Argentines to lift the trophy now.

All the best to the little genius in a one man team (the team most Brazillians will hate to win the cup nw). Argentina, Argentina...........
