Consistently landing incredible clients as a freelancer or copywriter isn't about who is highly skilled.

It's about who knows how to sell their skills better.

You can be highly skilled and still be broke.

So, how can you stand out?

A simple shift in your outreach approach that I'm going to share in my membership can be the missing piece.

I'm going to spill the techniques that have worked for me to consistently win satisfying, well-paid work.

I'll show you how you can tailor it to your services and tap into your unique way.

Send a message.

Copywriting secrets by John Carlton is an ebook, it ain't as detailed as the RMBC course.
Besides, do you know the RMBC course?

First, have you took RMBC? The creator of RMBC is Stefan Georgi - a new school Copywriter.

All these new school copywriters got their inspiration from old schools legends like John Carlton, David Ogilvy, Gary Herbert, etc.

In fact, Stefan Georgi started Copywriting less than 10 years ago. His wife inspired his journey. He said it himself in one of his interview.

BTW, John Carlton Book - Kick Ass of A Marketing Rebel is one of the greatest marketing material on planet earth, ever.

100%.

I discovered and closed various clients this year outside Upwork.

So I get clients on Upwork AND Outside.

wi!n-win.

Well, I'll show you how I get clients outside without worrying about high Upwork connects.

Clients that are paying from $2-3k per work.

I got to know real paying clients don't hire on Upwork mostly.

Well, let me add.

You need high paying skills and target rich paying client to be rich as a freelancer.

Like other business you need to work extremely hard to succeed.

Who told you freelancing can't make you big money?

I know of myself, and host of others I don't want to mention names here on Nairaland that became comfortable and rich from freelancing.

Yes, freelancing does the magic because you earn in dollars.

Seek more knowledge.

I have a way of targeting Americans who are in need of direct response copywriting services.

$500 here, $600 there, $850 over there and that's how I keep getting them.

Nigerian economy is best enjoyed if you earn is foreign currency.

If you know you can't implement whatever you going to learn from me, please don't contact me.

I'm not lazy, so I don't expect you to be.

And again, aside from Upwork, there are up to 6 other ways I generate clients for my copywriting business consistently.

That means, every week, I onboard new client needing my service.

But one thing, I show value and help provide a solution to each new clients I get before getting their money.

For instance, at times, I give suggestions on any of their existing projects, and if such client likes it, they pay me to go ahead and implement my idea on their business.

That's it.

Clients are everywhere on any platform.

You can bank $3000 monthly with copy skills.

Just avoid shining object syndrome (going from one skill to another).

FunnyDude, why did you say so?

See, the world is saturated already, forget what you see online.

No NEW skills or platform can make you so rich, but YOUR effort will do that for you.

Look at it this way (my own way)...

Have you applied to at least 50 Jobs daily on one ( LinkedIn, Upwork or anywhere) for 90 days, with your current skills and you haven't gotten an offer?

Try it, you'll get an offer - it's a game of numbers.

Imagine this...

You applied to 1000 openings in 30 days at 0.5-1% conversion rate (worst case scenario).

You'll still get at least 5 offers.

People are making consistent income with any skills.

That's the truth.

Get up and package your application.

# 7 Tips to Get *Great* High-Paying Clients

I've landed $10,000 projects and have worked with *7-, 8-, and 9-figure brands*.

So, you can say I know a thing or two about how to get clients.

In today's post, I'll show you how to do the same.

Let's dive in:

**1. Join Facebook (job) boards. **

I got my first clients through Facebook groups.

You have two options here:
* Join groups where your ideal clients hang out. Provide value. And start conversations.
* Use Facebook job boards to apply for gigs. Just MAKE SURE to send personalized messages.

Here's an example of a personalized message:

"*Hey, X, *

*I read [something you found valuable on their profile/website]. *

*I [say what you found valuable]. Great job! *

*Also, I'm applying for [X]. *

*Here's a link to my samples [link]. *

*Looking forward to helping you [mention something in the job description]*!"

**2. Don't work for free. **

Saying you'll do the project for free positions you in a bad light.

If you really have no other choice, say:

"*I'll do this for free in exchange for a testimonial*."

If they don't agree, that's a big red flag.

Move to the next prospect.

**3. Build your personal brand. **

Facebook. Instagram. Twitter. LinkedIn. TikTok. YouTube.

No matter the medium, you can land clients on any platform.

Just make sure to:
* Be authentic
* Show your expertise
* Entertain (people like fun)

This approach takes time.

But it gets you the BEST clients.

**4. You don't need a website.**

I have a website. But I haven't used it in years.

The only thing you need to land clients is a Google doc with samples.

If you can add some stats on your copy - even better.

*PRO TIP*: Make your portfolio stand out by having a short resume of your skills and why the client should work with you on top of the Google doc you share with them.

Here's an example:

"*Hi, [name],*

*You can call me X for short [if your name is long and complicated].*

*Below, you’ll find my recent portfolio.*

*Before that, I wanted to share a few benefits of working with me:*
1. *Reason 1 - [Something about being punctual, deadlines, etc.]*
1. *Reason 2 - [Are you fun to work with? Say it]*
1. *Reason 3 - [Come up with your own reasons]*

*Now, to verify I don’t (secretly) suck, here are a few of my recent samples:*

*[Link to your samples]*"

**5. Qualify your prospect. **

As much as biz owners qualify you...

You WANT to qualify them, too.

If they:

❌Don't want to pay upfront

❌Want you to work crazy hours

❌Don't respect your vacation days or weekends

Or something equally crazy...

They WON'T be a great client.

So, stay away from such prospects.

**6. Have a contract. **

Newbies start working without a contract or agreement.

And they get into trouble.

Don't be like them.

Have a contract or an email that stipulates:
* Upfront payments
* Number of copy reviews
* Deliverables and deadlines

**7. Have one *specific *offer.**

To land great clients, don't say you're gonna write all kinds of copy.

Focus on 1-2 deliverables.

For example, emails or VSLs.

Why?

Because in this way, you come across as an expert...

And can command HIGHER fees.

And that's a wrap.

With these 7 tips, you can now get *great, high-paying* clients.

P.S $1 is now NGN 1,100 grin

The way you all spee trashes sometimes ehn, talking as if skills are taught for free. When God shows you mercy on time you begin to feel that others are lazy. No job can afford me the kind of life I desire for myself and family but at least I need a headstart somewhere first, or are you willing to teach me a skill for free then I pay later when it starts yielding results? You should be thankful to God, don't think others are lazy. However touching your story might seem, do not think you've been through what others have.

No one is lazy actually, but most now want fast money that's why.

Read my story on my past threads, I also suffered too.
