At least 108 out of 240 inmates who escaped from a prison in central Nigeria have been recaptured, a prison official said Tuesday.
Heavily armed gunmen stormed the Security Custodial Centre in Kabba, in Kogi State, late on Sunday, freeing scores of inmates.
It was unclear who the gunmen were but criminal gangs have terrorised central and northwest Nigeria for years.
“We have a total of 108 inmates rearrested,” Nigeria’s correctional service spokesman Francis Enobore told AFP by phone.
“But as the day progresses, the figure will definitely increase,” he added, saying “several processes have been activated to ensure all inmates are rearrested.”
At about 2245 GMT on Sunday, the spokesman had said earlier in a statement, numerous attackers “engaged the armed guards in a fierce gun battle.”
The gunmen invaded the prison, which had 294 prisoners in custody at the time, including 224 pre-trial detainees.
A soldier and a police officer lost their lives in the attack, Enobore later added.
Large prison outbreaks are not uncommon in Nigeria.
On April 5, gunmen raided Owerri police headquarters, in Nigeria’s southern Imo state, freeing more than 1,800 inmates.
In addition to fighting criminal gangs who also kidnap people for ransom and rustle cattle, Nigeria’s security forces are facing a violent jihadist insurgency in the northeast and separatist agitation in the southeast.
A Nigerian human rights activist and lawyer, Rene Omokri has taken to the social media space to share a video of his 6-months-old daughter, Ebele Omokri performing push-ups exercise.
Reno, in a post he shared, his daughter, Ebele, could be seen doing push-ups. Reno said he does push-ups every morning and whenever he does push-ups, his daughter sees and tries to mimic him. Finally, she was able to do it.
On explaining how his daughter of 6-months could perform push-ups, the human rights activist said that his daughter has been on exclusive breastfeeding and has never tasted cow milk.
Mr Reno claimed that not taking cow milk has been the secret behind his daughter’s intelligence and strength.
In a follow-up post, Reno recommended that parents feed their babies with breast milk instead of cow milk. “My daughter, Ebele, is exclusively breastfed. She has NEVER tasted cow milk. I spend hours each day talking baby talk with her. Everyday, we take her out to enjoy the sun and play. Something my wife and I recommend to one and all”, he said.

You don't know how all these electronics can malfunction. I once punch in figures at the ATM stand and it was not responding. I thought the buttons were bad. I kept on punching.. Before I could realised, I had made 40k transaction as against the normal 400 I wanted to pay for bulk sms units..
Also, my phone screen some times malfunction especially if water touches it. I will press a number and it will not appear. I'd keep on pressing. Before I know it, the number will appear in multitude.

Dogshow: Good evening Nairalanders, In June this year, I applied for a fellowship program that took me roughly 3 weeks to finalize and submitted successfully. But I received the shock of my life after getting a "NO"
Please note, it won't have been so traumatic if I had gotten the instant no after the day they promised to get back to us whether being shortlisted or rejected. It was after I sent a mail to one of the leading directors, and that one informed me to mail another recipient in which I did and got an instant "NO" as if they'd be waiting for my mail. So horrible!
OR WAS HE TRYING TO PROVE A POINT THAT NO MATTER HOW RICH A MAN IS, HE IS MOSTLY TO RAPE WHEN THE OPPORTUNITY PRESENTS ITSELF? He has the money. Instead of him to do it the right, he chose to do it the men's way. May he never returned from prison IJN
thorpido: Hmmmm, if na man na,'Oh boy, sorry o' go end am. Ndu a adighi edozi.
The FUTURE is FEMALE. Know this and know peace.
JovialJune: This thread shows that most men we have these days are weak, jealous, envious, hateful breed of angry birds. Take a look at most of their comments above, they couldn't wish the girl well, praise the man, and move on, they had to make it a gender thing, hating on a fellow man because he helped a lady,
Sad bunch of zeros in existence lately, truly sad.
