PoliticsRe: Ojukwu Knew Obi Would Dump APGA – Obiano’s Aide by gabicon: 5:06pm On Oct 25, 2014
A battle for survival Obiano will soon follow suit too. Apga and labour party have long been PDP franchises, we are drifting gradually into a two party system.
PoliticsRe: Speaker Tambuwal Defects To APC by gabicon: 11:32pm On Oct 20, 2014
If PDP doesn't sort out the govonors endorsement/ automatic senate sit I believe that a lot more PDP members will decamp to APC and honestly speaking I don't see the light in that tunnel. The thing about our politics in Nigeria is that it lacks ideology, one should join a political party because of what they stand for and believe in a unification of purpose, its unfortunate that we built an ideology whose foundation is regionalism, religion, and selfish interests.

Now a new election is on the way the questions we need to ask our legislators is what have they achieved this past 4 years to justify their take home pay? No PIB and other beneficial bills.
We need to judge the executives by the resources at their disposal in comparation to the deliverables on ground and get good explanations for the discrepancies. But as usual we will judge them in isolation.
We have the electorate need to let them know that we are not only boss during elections we are always boss and they are our servants.
PoliticsRe: PDP Goes Tough On Governors Who Want To Go To Senate by gabicon: 6:28pm On Oct 17, 2014
This GEJ endorsement will cause serious problems for PDP, come to think of it if he contested at their convention he still will have won, I wonder why they opted for the endorsement thingy. I forsee a big split in the party if they don't find a solution quickly, it is a matter of fact that no senator will back down for any governor shopping for a new job. The political atmosphere will be interesting, some last minute decamping but let it not be a blood game oooo cos some people are desperate let them just outwit themselves. A ray of hope for APC I initially concluded that they were out of the game.
HealthRe: Health Workers Begin Indefinite Strike Today by gabicon: 1:15pm On Oct 16, 2014
We need to define the modalities in which institutions in this country work by else we keep on moving in circles and expect a different result. The problem of all industrial actions in Nigeria narrows down to money, doctors feel they should be paid better other health worker believe they should get same remuneration as doctor do. The fact is the pharmacist doesn't want the consultant office merely because of the name but because of the financial benefits attached to the office. We need a redefinition of our salary scale structure not just in the health sector but across all sector everyone needs to get a sizable chunk of the pie.

I will suggest an increase in the minimum wage and a taxation system which increases with how much u earn just like the British tax system. We need to achieve to some extent some money flow balance.
RomanceRe: Pot Belly Girls by gabicon: 10:31pm On Oct 15, 2014
some could be stress related, once some people are stressed they tend to eat more and gain weight. i asked a friend once and she gave me the excuse of the body of women in abroad and nigeria is different n some space for the womb/miscarriage bogus brouhaha. I do think it has a lot to do with eating habits and exercising which most Nigerians are not disciplined enough to make them habits. most especially Exercise we are caught up with work, traffic, and other stuffs and fail to care for the body, the truth is that there is no excuse if we all could as well make it a habit to eat and say our prayers every day we can do same for exercise.
FamilyRe: My Wife Just Told Me She Has A Boyfriend And That There Is Nothing ℓ̊ Will Do by gabicon: 7:54pm On Oct 13, 2014

My wife just told me now that she has a boyfriend that sleeps with her and that there is nothing ℓ̊ am going to do.

ℓ̊ had earlier suspected she is sleeping with her doctor and one of the parent in her sch. She confirmed to me tonight that she os cheating cos cheating is fun!

What do ℓ̊ do

Now before Ɣøû comment, let me give Ɣøû a little background to our issues. ℓ̊ was involved with other ladies at some point in our marriage,of which she knew and ℓ̊ confessed to her. ℓ̊ don't do that anymore but she said she want to cheat so that ℓ̊ can feel what it feels to be cheated upon. Now she is sleeping around and tell it to my face that she is cheating and will continue without hiding it and there is nothing ℓ̊ can do!

Nlanders what do ℓ̊ do?
You used your very own hands to tear your lovely family apart and I thing you should take responsibility for it, you didn't tink of your kids you were selfishly thinking of only yourself which is a bad quality for someone who commands authority of a home.

That being said, your wife may be doing her deed for pure revenge or a revenge that has metamorphosed into an emotional relationship if the latter is the case you've got a big problem.

I advice that you first of all repent before God for breaking your vows of marriage and ask him to heal the remaining fragments left of it.
Go through your bible and find all scriptures that pertain to husbands write them down and meditate on them daily so that they can become a part of you.
Secondly you both need to see a neutral councillor you both respect for help an elderly couple will do.

Its best you seek help fast as your ship has only hit the rocks and is sinking, you still have the opportunity to salvage what ever is left of it.
This is not the time to put undue pressure on your wife, love her and care for her, I have a feeling that your story is not close to half complete, your wife is deeply wounded and her part of the whole episode needs be told.

God bless you and give you wisdom to put your home together again.
PoliticsRe: ADAMAWA. Mr. Bala Ngilari Taking Oath Of Office As Governor. Pics by gabicon: 7:24pm On Oct 08, 2014
this is what happens when legislators cant properly interpret the law. all the members of the house need to be removed if no one of them had enough sense/too timid to know that the removal plot was illegal. democracy is not the freedom to do what you like but to do what is beneficial to the general public, PDP is currently orchestrating steering Nigeria into a one party system a major danger to the sustainability of our democracy.
TV/MoviesRe: Many Nigerian Actors Live On Past Glory—ramsey Nouah by gabicon: 11:00am On Oct 07, 2014
Mr Nouah has got a point nollywood lack structure, piracy is killing the business, truth be told they have the capability of doing great movies if the renumeration is better. If the Growth process is allowed to take its natural cause we will have better stories, better acting, and better industry the like of tade Ogidan, Tunde kelani ,kunle Afolayan and our lovely amaka igwe (rip) are indicators that better financing, and low piracy can produce tremendous resource. Its my opinion that we haven't even scratched the surface of our entertainment industry yet which has the potential of becoming a billion dollar industry a clear example of this phenomena is the Bollywood industry.

I guess there is a secret international directive not to sell arms to Nigeria hence our politicians are going thru the back door to get weapons for ignorant youths ahead of the forth coming election. I can't wait for the governments coverup for this one.
Car TalkRe: 22 Vehicle Manufacturers to Move into Nigeria by gabicon: 10:47am On Oct 02, 2014
I won't blame anyone for not believing cos they sold us something similar in 2011 as regards the modular refineries 4 in number with prospective locations, and as we can all see they are available. Nigeria has transcended into the era of seeing is believing, promises are not always kept and if we as Nigerians haven't learnt anything we ought to have learnt that. Kudos to the government for the vehicle plants running but as for d 22 manufacturers wen we see d vehicles on our streets we will den acknowledge their efforts.
TravelRe: On Nigerians And The 'must Travel Mentality' by gabicon: 10:25pm On Sep 27, 2014
One of the reason people do what so ever to leave Nigeria is social amenities. You open the tap water flows you turn on the switch the bulb, the road network is good, you can afford to sleep with both eyes closed little or no noise and environmental pollution, functioning health care services etc.

Ever human being wants to live the good life unfortunately we Nigerians have failed to provide the infrastructure to live the good life.

Though living abroad is not as easy as it seems as good services cost good money, and one may have to pay through the nose every month.

I think most Nigerians are asking the government for a place to go in the morning and come back at night to enable them pay their bills, a roof over their heads, social amenities to be truly social and not luxury, security of their lives and property. In my opinion these things are not too much to ask.

Children spit, bite, scratch, share stuffs, and injure themselves while playing does sanitisers cover all these? I think they have the capability of propagating the disease faster not just to the children in school but also to the ones at home and even to their parents. As adults we are cautious observant and intuitively but children are inquisitive. Its bad enough that our girls have not been returned let not put the lives of these children in jeopardy.

BusinessRe: Nigeria Sinks Deeper Into External Debt by gabicon: 12:19pm On Aug 20, 2014
The debt isn't a problem if we uses it to create sustainable infrastructure that can offset the very debt. The worry is that the huge borrowing borrowing is not commensurate with the infrastructure and services on ground. It would be wrong to say that the government isn't doing something with these fund, I think the right thing to say is they are not doing enough.

The kind of projects they embark on too is key I saw pics of GEJ inspecting the stadium built in uyo, left to me that project is a totaly unpeopled centered, the states of all our stadiums in the country bear will definitely support my stance. If the govonor had used the funds to generate 1000mw of electricity As the site is close to a gas field, the state will have been called light city by now and imagine the revenue it will generate for the state, the jobs it will create for the citizens, and the national popularity the govonor will get.

From the statistics shown Lagos state has the largest state debt I can understand that the population of Lagos is ever increasing but I still can't see the infrastructure supporting this huge debts.

Citizens of Nigeria have to start demanding accountability from the government else posterity will be in creditors chain.

EducationRe: The Plight Of The Nigerian Overseas Federal Scholarship Students - Ikenna David by gabicon: 8:57am On Aug 09, 2014
It is sad that someone associated with crime is given prefrence to law abiding citizens, this shows the kind of society we run. This is just one of our other problems, I remember a year or so ago I watched a video of how 419 started and this story just confirms their claim.
The problem is not a political problem its an institutional/system problem questions need to be answered
Which government agency is responsible for student scholarship?
What are the agreed modalities for meeting up such responsibility?
Have they fulfilled the requirement in meeting their responsibility?
If not what is being done?

I believe we need judiciary autonomy cos the foundation of a good country is the adherence to law and order. Without it we can't grow the political class have infiltrated the justice system and bastardised it thereby creating non confidence in the system. This unfortunate trend has cut across all sectors of public service.

We need a man/woman committed to building institutions and not promise to give us water and roads we ought to have out grown this stages. If the institutions are running on autopilot they basically take care of the results we seek. We will get there
FamilyRe: What If You Have An Academic Blockhead For A Child! by gabicon: 6:58pm On Aug 02, 2014
I think your uncle is not handling this issue properly, no one can solve a mans problem for him better than himself. He should own up and take responsibility if he doesn't know what to do he should seek for help outside and then implement it himself.
Back to the child the first thing he needs is God, secondly no child is born a dummy but many are trained to be dummies so his curriculum of training has to change, thirdly we are either mathematically inclined or theoretically inclined the latter can be improved by practice and the former by continuous repeated reading there by making things stick.
Everything takes effort and that's what you guys have to put in. I wish you the best and lastly pray for the boy.

PoliticsRe: Senate Dumps NIS Tragedy Probe Report by gabicon: 8:46am On Jul 29, 2014
I think the summation of our challenge in Nigeria is non adherence to rule of law, corruption is just a result of non adherence. We Nigerians are the problem we don't follow through with anything and the political class know that for example occupy Nigeria, bring back our girls, subsidy scam and so many more. When a criminal gets away with crime his confidence is boosted and his habit gets worse over time. We run a society filled with criminals and we expect sanity let's wake up. The ministry of interior saga once not resolved immediately was a long forgotten case and we all know that. Our girls are being molested by boko haram and are being trained to be suicide bombers all because we all didnt follow thru my fear now is their new recuit will be children.

PoliticsRe: FG Orders 40 Attack Helicopters From US, Russia by gabicon: 5:44pm On Jul 26, 2014
The number 1 weapon we need to win this battle is intelligence, if we don't get it and use it effectively military contractors will merely take advantage of us. We have been fighting boko haram for years now how many of our service men have infiltrated their network to understand how they operate, their operation schedule, and who is funding them? These are question that need answers cos it seems to me that after military transition in 1999 our military has been incapacitated and money has been used to block their better judgement. I could just imagine boko haram surfacing during the abacha era, as tyrant as the man was he wouldn't allow such under his watch.GEJ needs to open his eyes some people are playing him thereby allowing his name to be written in shit in history books, even if he is not ready to fight for Nigeria he need to fight for the reaction of posterity to his being president as popular stories are what make history.
GEJ should start giving ultimatum to his commanding officers such as no result in 2 months equals retirement or some sort of reverse motivation to end this crisis.
God bless GEJ
God bless Nigeria

The government will have to be careful with people like madam oby and the likes internationally they are advocates of equity and fairness. Why wouldn't we believe she was a victim of DSS impunity when everyone who speaks against the government is an enemy. And madam oby too will have to give cut DSS some slack too I mean it could possible be a routine check.
GEJ needs to talk to our service personnel too, his reputation and Nigerias reputation has suffered in the international community these past few months a little fanning on the embers of coal won't do any good to anyone. I kind of pity GEJ from day one he has been fighting up till now and he still wants to go another 4 years I just hope its all worth it.
Romance9 Reasons Why Christian Single Ladies Can't Find Their Boaz, David, Or Joseph by gabicon(op): 8:52pm On Jul 20, 2014
I’ve gotten a lot of one-on-one questions about this from BOTH MEN AND WOMEN and I figured it was time to write about it. Before I write another line though, it’s important that I say a few things and get some things out of the way.

A. This article is mainly for mature Christian single women. Mature. Christian. Women. Why? Because Girls might get offended or not understand but a mature Christian woman will probably get it and take the knowledge.

B. A woman’s relationship status does not define her, so being single is not a disease or an indication of something “wrong” with her. So this article is not to list a bunch of reasons why you are at fault for not being married …as if marriage was something you just bought at the store. I wouldn’t do that. I respect and care about women’s issues more than there is space to write about here. As a daughter of God, he is working out your story beautifully, so bask in that. This is however, for Christian ladies who are ready for marriage but frustrated that they can’t find the right guy even though there seems to be options.

C. I write this respectfully but I will write it as honestly as possible as a man and as someone who knows a thing or two about relationships. I’ll tell you probably like no one has told you before. So the tone may be a bit direct not because I am brash but because I am writing to Women not girls and one thing I know about women is that contrary to the opinion that they want you to beat around the bush, when it comes to things that are really important, they want you to tell them like it is. They would rather know now, shed a tear or two and start working ASAP to move out, move up, move on or move forward so they don’t waste more time doing the same thing and not getting the outcomes they want.

D. All your single girlfriends AND male friends should read this.
So here we go. Why can’t our wonderful Christian sisters find their Boaz, David or Joseph?

1. Many Christian ladies want a man that “knows where he is going”… but God’s men usually don’t have a clue: Think about that for a moment. Think through the Bible…all the great men that had relationships with God and who he used and blessed….they usually didn’t have a clue about where they were going and (here is the even crazier part) even if they had a clue, their lives for a long time did not reflect that great place God said he was taking them. Just think about it. All the way from Abraham …going to a land he did not know; Joseph having a dream that people would bow down to him but became a slave and then a prisoner; David who was anointed to be King and then lived the next 15 years in the wilderness as a fugitive; Peter the great fisher of men who was barely able to catch fish.
These men would have had a rough time finding a wife today. Could you imagine?
Abraham calling sister Sarah aside after church and saying “Errrmmm Sarah you know I love you right? Soooo God wants to take us somewhere …but I have no idea where. Wanna marry me and come?”
David too. “Look baby…I really care about you and want to spend the rest of my life taking care of you… In fact, I’ve just been anointed King…buuutttt I’m kinda living in the bushes right now and on the run from the King I’m supposed to replace.”
Or Joseph. “Look Jill, God has shown me many dreams that people will bow down to me and I’ll be a great leader. But right now I wash dishes in Potiphar’s house and I’m a slave boy there”
God’s men don’t “always” have a direction or know the details. So stop looking for men who have it all figured out!
Here is the solution though…..here is the good news. Here is what you SHOULD be looking for: Men who can be LED by God. (Rom 8:14) Don’t look for a man who already has the best laid plans. Look for one who knows how to follow directions from the best planner.
2. Many ladies approach relationships from the perspective of “Low Risk, High Reward”: Meaning, they want to get the absolute best man with the least amount of risk. (And I’m not just talking about finances here)They don’t want to put themselves out there at all.
They want the man to take ALL the risks…to be utterly convinced he wants to be with them before they open up about who they really are. You know who you are…You act like YOU are the ONLY prize in the equation. He doesn’t know anything about your background but you turned into a private investigator to make sure he is good enough for you. You are financially irresponsible and an impulsive spender, you’re spending insane percentages of your income on your hair, shoes, bags, and your “package” but you want a man who knows how to make and keep money. You have not grown your faith or prayer life to where it needs to be but you want a demon chasing, tongue speaking, Bible spitting warrior of a husband…because “he is the leader of the home”.
You’ve dated a bunch of losers that didn’t work out but he is no good because he has had several failed relationships too? You want to see him as he is but you cover yourself up in perfectly filtered Instagram pictures, hair extensions, push up bras, makeup and layers of stuff that make it impossible to see who you really are. You are lazy with not much follow-through but you want a man who can stay up all night working on a project. If he put that spotlight on you, would YOU make the cut?
In essence, many Christian ladies say they have faith but they don’t. They say that God is their source but they are lying. They say that they trust God’s will for their future but they are lying. They don’t. They put their trust in a man. What kind of job he has/can get. How much he is making or can make. They want to make sure he has the “ability to provide”. They want him to have his life utterly figured out…
But I have met many great men who haven’t found the employment they have the potential to get. I have met many others who were living it up until the economy crashed. I have met some who had it all but God insisted they give it up to go and further the gospel.

3. Many ladies forget that good Christian men look for women who share similar non-romantic, non-spiritual values: Sure he should be romantic and sure he must share those spiritual values but eerrmmm ladies…these Christian brothers are looking for those other character traits as well that speak to the OPERATION of your possible lives together. Dependability, thriftiness, work ethic, time management, hard work, follow-through and so on.
One of the first things we learn about Ruth for example, was her work ethic. ( Ruth chapter 2). She knew how to pull her hair back, forget about her nails, roll up her sleeves and get on the grind. She worked really hard and even when she got the attention of the “well established guy with the sensitive heart” she didn’t stop working. She took the break that he offered her and went back to work.
That’s how you earn a man’s respect…when you can show him that what he HAS does not define who you are.
Here is the icing on that cake. Just because Ruth could get down and work, didn’t mean she couldn’t look pretty and tidy up (Ruth 3:3)

4. Many ladies pre-qualify their leads: This is one of the most CRITICAL reasons. In fact, there is a powerful 2 part series on just that HERE: http://ijustmetme.com/2014/05/dont-pre-qualify-your-lead/

5. Good Christian men know their worth too and don’t want to settle either: Yea ladies…men are understanding their worth a bit more too.Christian men are getting more and more comfortable attending relationship seminars and getting information about seeking God’s face for a wife. They are realizing how powerful of an impact a wife has on the outcome of their lives and ministry, and they are spending more time trying to see what is beneath the surface. They know that a woman can make or break everything. They realize that a woman’s desires can accelerate him towards purpose or derail him.
They are praying more and they are realizing that while you still remain a prize, they too are precious in God’s eyes and want to do right by him. They are realizing that a wife can make or break a man.
Yes they are praying for a Ruth but they are also praying against Delilah as well.

6. Many Christian ladies have no testimony with men: A few years ago, an older friend (a number of years older than me) came up to me after a church program and asked me about a lady in my church. Who she was and what she was like as a person.
I didn’t stop talking for minutes. They were married about a year later.
Same thing happened to Ruth. (Ruth Chapter 2 from Vs 3) Boaz came back from a trip, saw Ruth and asked his Foreman “Who is that and who does she belong to”, to which the foreman answered and gave a fantastic testimony of her character. (See Boaz’s response in Vs 11)
Here is a secret ladies, you know how you like a guy and try to keep it to yourself until your girlfriends force a confession out of you? We guys don’t do that. The moment we think we are interested in you, we are telling someone and we are asking around about you….and we are asking our MALE friends/mentors. Because we know they will tell us like it is and of course won’t spread it all around church and make things suddenly awkward or cause all the sisters to start giving the dirty eye next Sunday. Bro code.
The truth is that even Christian ladies can be toxic sometimes when it comes to how they treat men who they don’t consider a prospect. You forget that when the real prospect comes and is interested in you, he will ask other men…some who may never have approached you but who have watched you from afar, and yes some who may have had an interest in you but you didn’t like. How did you handle those situations? (You totally need to read that article link above…especially the 2nd part of that series)

7. Many Christian women want a Proverbs 31 Man: That’s not a typo. Pick up your Bible and read Proverbs 31 again with fresh eyes… from the perspective of the character of that woman…and you will see that those qualities are the ones that many women are looking for in a man when they should be busy developing those qualities themselves.
Single Christian men are reading that passage looking for those qualities in a woman, and women are putting that passage down and instead looking for those qualities in a man.

8. Many Christian ladies want to be married but they are not truly ready to be led: They want to marry a boyfriend but not a husband. They want only a partner but not a leader. They want an emotional prenup that things will always be 50:50. They say they will concede authority to God himself but in their heart, they are not willing to be led by his representative in the home. What I am about to say next I say with the utmost respect to women.
Men were created to lead at home. Now, with that leadership comes accountability to God meaning that God holds him accountable and will punish him first for bad leadership. But a man cannot be accountable for a woman he can’t lead….and a Christian man does not want to be over anything he can’t be accountable to God about.

9. Many young married Christian women are painting a fairytale picture of marriage to their single ladies
Many young married women are doing a major disservice to single women. These young married women create a fairytale picture of weddings and marriage to their single friends. They love being the center of attention and talk up how dreamy it is. Perfect Instagram photos, perfect wedding photos, expensive glamorous weddings, perfect Facebook updates, photos and so on. Is there anything wrong with that? No. It would just help a lot more when married young women keep it real with their sisters and tell them that the wedding day does not make the marriage. It would help a whole lot more if they sit their single friends down and talk about the importance of a praying wife, a strong wife, a submissive wife (to a Godly man) and how contrary to popular opinion, the faith of a wife is both a weapon for the family and its defense as well. Instead, they get their single sisters all dreamy eyed and waiting for a perfect story and a perfect man…waiting for KalEl from planet Krypton with the big “S” on his chest and a red cape, when they should look at Clark Kent from Planet earth.

Sisters, God has a beautiful story of love written for you. Am I saying settle? No way. But I am saying look at these men through the eyes of Christ. Get your pride out of the way. Don’t define your marital success by how well your wedding day or “lifestyle” stacks up with other women. Most importantly, start seeing yourself as a true (not just perceived) gift from God that can bring God’s favor and blessings into your husband’s life because that’s what you are. So work to BECOME that and I truly truly wish you a love-filled, Christ centered happy marriage when it does happen.
So…start/join the conversation below. Which one of the points resonated with you? Was it an eye opener? Were there any surprises on the list? Any additional thoughts? Share those comments below.
