BusinessRe: The Success Of Tecno: A Business Lesson For All by gabuu(m): 8:34am On Jan 02, 2014
Tecno has a manufacturing plant in Ethiopia. Ethiopia, not Nigeria, it's biggest market. Oh I hear they are setting up a manufacturing plant in Nigeria soon..... Story. Do you know why? Ethiopia Airline is the best airline as per logistics and distribution of cargo in Africa. Google it if you doubt me.

So, the china man manufacture a Tecno phone in Ethiopia and Ggam, he airfreight it direct to the market within a week, Addis Ababa-Nigeria route is far shorter and cheaper than China-Hongkong-Nigeria, guess what you still get the price at the China-Hongkong-Nigeria price.

Ethiopia Airline has a direct entry to Enugu airport. For the Chinese business man that is two points of entry into Nigeria. He can now send his cargo to Lagos and Enugu. Guys, they are carving us for the kill.
Way forward.

The govt need to provide enabling environment within the country to ensure that all OEM must have a manufacturing plant in the country. The regular excuse is the lack of electricity. I agree we have that challenge but the likes of MTN and Co are copping why not them. Or impose high tariff on the devices ( corruption for airport na another wahala) imported to the country. Bottom line is, we either find a way to manufacture in the country or continue to consume and perish, eventually.
BusinessRe: The Success Of Tecno: A Business Lesson For All by gabuu(m): 8:06am On Jan 02, 2014
See Nigerians bashing themselves because of a foreign product. Me think the question is, when are we going to start manufacturing our own devices and stop consuming other people's products?

The Chinese are coming and they are consuming everything on their path like locust, believe me, if we do not stand firm, they will so F&@/4 us up, what the Europeans did to our grandfathers in 100years will be child's play. Guys wake up and smell the coffe.

I am of the opinion that business is a marathon and not a sprint. It becomes difficult if the entrepreneur has his eyes set on profit the very first day the business opens. It is possible, but very, very difficult to achieve. We are building a team of young sales people for 2014, if interested pls visit www.aanoraltd.com

The business route might be painful but is your best bet for a rewarding financial freedom
BusinessRe: Want To Sue Firstbank For Denying My Business Loan by gabuu(m): 1:22pm On Nov 29, 2013
@tecboss. if you are in the phone/computer reseller business and you have done this much turnover, over the years that means you are a wholesaler. That explain why the bank is running away from you.
The wholesales segment of the market is dying, thanks to the Konga, dealdey, Jumia and all other online stores that are busy crashing prices as if the world is coming to and end. Companies like Redignton and Blue Arrow are all gone from the market with loses in the billions. Midcom is barely surviving because dealers are owing money left right and center and they are refusing to pay. Earlier this year, Diamond bank and IBTC extended some line of credit to some of the dealers. I am sorry to report, the cheques have started bouncing back like rubber balls. My advice, move your account to another bank or like some one said. Use your money to buy a small car and move on.

Yes the business is lucrative. I will advice you to start with two models Nokia and Tecno. Low end models will do for now. They are easier to sale. You have nothing to fear in computer village, as long as you are dealing with the right company.

Hope this helps

The sen7 Fragrance Atomizer is a beautifully designed, refillable fragrance atomizer, that now allows me to carry my Vanilla Noir fragrance with me —without the big bottle! It’s more like a fragrance ‘accessory’ than anything else. It looks like a cigarette lighter, but it’s actually a pocket-friendly refillable little spray bottle that holds 5.8ml – up to 70 sprays. Genius!

I saw this online and I believe this answers the question on why God allow Natural disasters to occur.

"The Japanese (90% Buddhist) have a saying that pain is our best friend. Because for the most part we learn and grow the most from painful experiences.

If we are not born new, but simply coming around for another shot at growth (reincarnation), then the notion of a child being pure is put aside. If pain is our friend, then the notion of pain as cruel is put aside. If death is not the end, then the notion of unfair or untimely death being the worst thing imaginable is put aside".

FamilyRe: Why Marriages Don’t Work: The Change Factor by gabuu(m): 12:48pm On Aug 05, 2008
Some one sent me this Note. it has helped me define my marriage. Hope it does same  for you!!!

b]Finding & Keeping a Life Partner

Golden rules for finding your life partner by Dov Heller, M.A

When it comes to making the decision about choosing a life partner, no one wants to make a mistake. Yet, with a divorce rate of close to 50%, it appears that many are making serious mistakes in their approach to finding

Mr. /Miss Right!

If you ask most couples who are engaged why they're getting married,

they'll say: "We're in love". I believe this is the #1 mistake people make when they date. Choosing a life partner should never be based on love.

Though this may sound "not politically correct", there's a profound truth here. Love is not the basis for getting married. Rather, love is the result of a good marriage. When the other ingredients are right, then the love will come. Let me say it again:

"You can't build a lifetime relationship on love alone". You need a lot more!!!

Here are five questions you must ask yourself if you're serious about finding and keeping a life partner.

QUESTION 1: Do we share a common life purpose?

Why is this so important? Let me put it this way: If you're married for 20 or 30 years, that's a long time to live with someone. What do you plan to do with each other all that time? Travel, eat and jog together?

You need to share something deeper and more meaningful. You need a common life purpose.

Two things can happen in a marriage:

(1) You can grow together, or

(2) You can grow apart.
50% of the people out there are growing apart. To make a marriage work, you need to know what you want out of life! Bottom line; and marry someone who wants the same thing.

QUESTION 2: Do I feel safe expressing my feelings and thoughts with this person?

This question goes to the core of the quality of your relationship.
Feeling safe means you can communicate openly with this person. The basis of having good communication is trust - i.e. trust that I won't get "punished" ;or hurt for expressing my honest thoughts and feelings. A colleague of mine defines an abusive person as someone with whom you feel afraid to express your thoughts and feelings. Be honest with yourself on this one.

Make sure you feel emotionally safe with the person you plan to marry.

QUESTION 3: Is he/she a mensch?

A mensch is someone who is a refined and sensitive person. How can you test? Here are some suggestions.

Do they work on personal growth on a regular basis?
Are they serious about improving themselves?
A teacher of mine defines a good person as "someone who is always striving to be good and do the right ".So ask your significant other what do they do with their time? Is this person materialistic?

Usually a materialistic person is not someone whose top priority is character refinement.

There are essentially two types of people in the world:

(1) People who are dedicated to personal growth, and
(2) People who are dedicated to seeking comfort.
Someone whose goal in life is to be comfortable will put personal comfort ahead of doing the right thing.
You need to know that before walking down the aisle.

QUESTION 4:  How does he/she treat other people?
The one most important thing that makes any relationship work is the ability to give. By giving, we mean the ability to give another person pleasure.

Ask: Is this someone who enjoys giving pleasure to others or are they wrapped up in themselves and self-absorbed? To measure this, think about the following:

How do they treat people whom they do not have to be nice to, such as waiters, bus boys, taxi drivers, etc.
How do they treat their parents and siblings? Do they have gratitude and appreciation? If they don't have gratitude for the people who have given them everything;

Can you do nearly as much for them? You can be sure that someone who treats others poorly, will eventually treat you poorly as well.

QUESTION 5: Is there anything I'm hoping to change about this person after we're married?

Too many people make the mistake of marrying someone with the intention Of trying to "improve" them after they're married. As a colleague of mine puts it, "You can probably expect someone to change after marriage for the worse". If you cannot fully accept this person the way they are now, then you are not ready to marry them.

In conclusion, dating doesn't have to be difficult and treacherous. The
key is to try leading a little more with your head and less with your
heart.
It pays to be as objective as possible when you are dating; so be sure
to ask questions that will help you get to the key issues. Falling in
love
is a great feeling, but when you wake up with a ring on your finger, you
don't want to find yourself in trouble because you didn't do your
homework.

Another perspective,
There are some people in your life that need to be loved from a
distance,
It's amazing what you can accomplish when you let go of or at least
minimize your time with draining, negative, incompatible, not-going
anywhere relationships. Observe the relationships around you.

Pay attention,
Which ones lift and which ones lean? Which ones encourage and which ones
discourage? Which ones are on a path of growth uphill and which ones are
going downhill? When you leave certain people do you feel
Better or feel worse? Which ones always have drama or don't really
understand, know, or appreciate you?
The more you seek quality, respect, growth, peace of mind, love and

truth around you, the easier it will become for you to decide who gets
to sit in the front row and who should be moved to the balcony of your
life.
An African proverb states, "Before you get married, keep both eyes open,
and after you marry, close one eye". Before you get involved and make a
commitment to someone, don't let lust, pity, desperation, immaturity,
ignorance, pressure from others or a low self-esteem make you blind to
warning signs. Keep your eyes open, and don't fool yourself that you can
change someone or that what you see as faults aren't really that
important.

Do you bring out the best in each other? Do you compliment and
compromise with each other, or do you compete, compare and control?
What do you bring to the relationship? Do you bring past relationships,
past hurt, past mistrust, past pain?
You can't take someone to the altar to alter them. You can't make
someone love you or make someone stay.

If you develop self-esteem, spiritual discernment, and "a life"; you
won't find yourself making someone else responsible for your happiness
or
responsible for your pain. Seeking status, sex, and security are the
wrong reasons to be in a relationship.

WHAT KEEPS A RELATIONSHIP STRONG ARE:

1. TRUST

2. COMMUNICATION

3. INTIMACY

4. A SENSE OF HUMOR

5. SHARING TASKS

6. SOME GETAWAY TIME WITHOUT BUSINESS OR CHILDREN

7. DAILY EXCHANGES (meal, shared activity, hug, call, touch, notes)

8. SHARING COMMON GOALS AND INTERESTS

9. GIVING EACH OTHER SPACE TO GROW WITHOUT FEELING INSECURE

10. GIVING EACH OTHER A SENSE OF BELONGING AND ASSURANCES OF COMMITMENT

If these qualities are missing, the relationship will erode as resentment, withdrawal, abuse, neglect, and dishonesty; and pain will replace it.

Good Luck in your Marriage!!
PoliticsRe: To Hell With Your Oil, North Tells South by gabuu(m): 11:40am On Aug 05, 2008
As usual we are missing the POINT. we as a people are plain LAZY!!! If you all take the pain to look at Nigeria objectively, you will notice that no single unit adequately cater for itself.

The North + Middle Belt
Agreed it is arid, no sign of activity, the industries are comatose, but it is the only region that has the CAPACITY to feed the nation if properly hearnesed.

Western Nigeria
Plenty of activity, especialy economic. Major advantages, the nation's gateway to the world, large pool of human resources etc,. All the colanut produced in the region must go NORTH for it to translate to money. All the products produced in the industries, need a ready market, East Nigeria, North, South-South are ready markets.

East Nigeria
Enterprising people, ability to see oppurtunity where others see challenges. Need to move out because their is just not enough unit space available for all to leave comfortably, beside, the need to stay close to the market is paramount to survival. My NYSC commandant gave me a rule of thumb in surviving in any part of Nigeria: were ever you find yourself, if withing 4 weeks you dont get to see an Igbo guy, please move on,  that place aint wont staying.

South-South
plenty of OIL. THE question is, If OIL caused Nigeria so much pain, what guaranty do they have that it will solved their problem. Be carefull what you wish for, for you might get it,  Dreams do come true!!.

Collectively as a Nation, we need to change our way of thinking!!!

P.S
For some of you guys that are Experts in Personal attacks: Note,

I am a Northerner, Married to an Igbo lady. I refused to beleive the propaganda our leaders feed us with. We can only make this country great if we look beyond our geographic limitations. No Single unit of Nigeria can survive EFFORTLESSLY
withouth the other.

The degree says you are 3rd class. What do you say you are?
I graduated with  3rd class in Physics/computer Science. Today I am a sales man, managing some very brilliant sales people with distinctions from very promiment schools.

Its hurts to be judged by that piece of paper, I know from experience. Wake up. Look inwards, what can you do EFFORTLESSLY? For me, it was selling technology. I speak Six nigerian Languages (Hausa, Yoruba, Igala, Idoma, Fulfulde and Kanuri) English and sign Language I take for granted. Couldn't pick up Igbo language because my wife is Igbo.

Look inwards, I am sure there is something you can do EFFORTLESSLY. Turn it round and make a leaving out of it. people like Kanu can run round a pitch for 90minutes, they call it fun, the clubs pay them for it.

Our business name is Pro-active Service Ltd and we provide Location Base Services (LBS)to companies that have assets all around Nigeria.

Location intelligence can help you answer questions such as:

* Where should the next store be located?

* Where are sales surging – and where are they not?

* Where to dispatch emergency crews and what is the fastest route?

* Where are the best customers – and where to get more of them?

* Where should assets be placed; such as cell towers or ATM machines?

* Where is my car?

* Where are the vulnerable markets to competition?

It also can answer “what if” scenarios to help in planning and predicting such as:

* What if a flood occurs in this location?

* What if a competitor builds a store here?

* What if demographics in a key market change?

By going beyond traditional GIS, Pro-Active is enabling businesses, government agencies and educational institutions to find answers and act quickly.

Our vision is to enable every business and government to harness the power of location.
We make it possible for them to visualize everything in a new way.

There are two kinds of slaves on any plantation: The field slave and the House slave. The field slave is beaten by the elements all day, get little in return from his labour, chained with IRON HANDCUFFS and sold out when his services are no longer required. He cries out 'when will I be free'?.
The house slave, eats from the crumbs of the master, wears the master's old cloths, sleeps on the master's old bed. On the way to the slave market, a A GOLDEN HANDCUFF is placed on his wrist, he foolishly sing along thinking slavery is sweet.
Why would you think that because some one pays you a salary of 350,000 per month he is doing a favour?. No wonder there is always traffic jam on 3rd mainland bridge every morning.  Slaves they are all going to their masters' farm. Until you have your own plantation, no matter how small, you are a slave, no amount of money is worth it. Ask Seun, he will tell you better.
Risk is a pre-condition of reward.
How do i Know? I own my own plantation, small but mine.
BusinessRe: Questions About Doing Business In Nigeria by gabuu(m): 10:00am On Jul 19, 2006
1. First let’s define Bargaining. Wikipedia, defines Bargaining as a type of negotiation in which the buyer and seller of a good or service dispute the price which will be paid and the exact nature of the transaction that will take place, and eventually come to an agreement. In Nigeria this is very common in the open market. There are no rules regarding bargaining and no price is too high or too low to ask for. In the corporate sector negotiations (bargaining) are also allowed though it is more ‘professionally’ conducted. The unwritten law is never be too far from 10% (±) of your cost price, here also there are no strict rules, though the ‘man-know-man’ (Familiarity with the decision maker) or WII FM (What’s In IT For Me) method also helps

2. Different factors affect the final decision, factors ranging from religion, geographic alienation (Northerners feel more comfortable doing business with people from the north and likewise west verse west, East ver East etc). The final decision in most cases is taken by the ‘Oga’ the big boss, but his decision is influenced by those under him. If you know someone close to him or her that would make getting the job done half easy, bottom line, decisions in most cases are not taken rationally but emotional attachment to some one or something.

3. Each business has its strategies but one thing is clear in Nigeria, between 75% - 85% of business owners go into the business based on guts feeling or they see some one making money from the business not from ‘crunching the numbers’ from research.
How do I know this? I am a Business research consultant and when some one comes to me and say ‘do a business plan for xyz business’ and I say ‘first we do a research to see the viability of the business’, I always get the reply that ‘Mr. XYZ started this business a year ago and today is swimming in millions’ or ‘I have this strong feeling the business will succeed’.
Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against guts feeling, but it does no harm to first crunch the numbers. I hope this helps.

P.S
most graduates get carried away by what their payslips read and they go spending without proper budgeting not realizing that YOU MAKE THE SALARY COUNTS and not the other way round.
My first boss after graduation gave me this advice 'Never accept a job because of the pay but the oppurtunity it offers'. most graduates would prefer to earn fat salary while neglecting to develop themselves in their relevant fields. gradually they grow to accomodate their salary and the rat race begings again looking for a new place to work etc.

Presently I personally earn less than 1m per annum working for a telecoms company as a sales person. but the commision I get from the sales is to say the least SWEET.

Hello seun.
If Understand you correctlly, you want to know "how much is a good salary in Nigeri'? This is my answer.
1. calculate what it will cost you to commute to work daily (Either public or own car-private)
2. the cost of lunch
3. Accomodation
4. health (that is if the organization place a ceiling on the amount it intends to spend in a given month)
5. Family/friends\
6. Miscellaneous (trust the family, they can drop without notice)
7. 10% of total salary as savings
it is only after deducting all these that you arrive at your salary. If it takes you home fine and good, if it finish before you climb the 3rd mainland bridge I am sorry, you are not earning good salary. even if your pay cheque reads 4M.

Hotspice dont get me wrong! What I was simply saying is that if an average Nigerian wants to read he simply reads what he 'Thiinks' translate to money. Eg, I bought "The seven habits of highly effective people/8th Habit" by Stephen Covey ecause I beleived that It will increase my Knowledge so also my friends. But before now, I read James Hardley Chase (All in the series), Pacesetters, etc all these were just to fill in the gap.
Of course I watch movies. Only when it is absolutely necessary. If i have my way I will watch discovery channel 24/7

I guess the reason why I kept the faith was because of FEAR. My mummy said that if I TOUCH a woman she will get pregnant. Pregnancy means no more scholl. I love schooll. I had a choice either concentrate in school or mess around. I chose to stay in school.
At age 21, I had my first girl friend in the university. I didn't know what to do with a girlfriend. the fear of pregnancy was topmost on my mind. we broke up. reason? she said "Gabuuu, you are a fine guy but no action"
During my NYSC days the babes kept coming ( I take style fine oooH) but as usual, no action.
meeeeeeeeen!! I was afraid to make a mistake.
Towards the end of my service year, i met this girl from the east, who was a fine girl but no action. We became very good friends and because we had a common feeling (Fear) we trusted each other.
One day we decided to give it a try and see how things will turn out. We used precautions of course! you wont beleive what happended, she got pregnant! so, we got married.
\My case is exceptional and if I am to walk this world again I can assure you that I will make love to a woman by age 18. I missed out on a lot of things.
Maybe that is why the Almighty compensated me with the most adorable woman on earth.
Keep the flag flyin
